Very Disappointing!
Leased this vehicle in 2007, when first hit the market...Loved the appearance and style......but quickly became an unreliable vehicle....our first "vacation" behind the wheel was spent at a Mazda dealership along the way to the beach replacing the engine....YES! REPLACING THE ENGINE!....We had the car less than 6 months when this happened...Since then, it had the Turbo system replaced.....Still has grey smoke occasionally from exhaust, which I have learned to live with....tired of spending my free time with Mazda Service Dept. It most likely needs the Turbo replaced AGAIN to correct the problem (same thing as before)....will be ready to give this baby back to Mazda at the end of my lease!
Surprisingly Nice
Had a Toyota RAV4 and hated it. Went to Mazda just looking around and the CX-7 caught my eye. Test drove it and I was hooked instantly. Doesn't feel like an SUV when driving it (a great thing I might add). I was sick of feeling like some soccer mom stuck in a "practical vehicle." This actually feels more like a sports car than an SUV.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom
Very powerful, sporty, fun to drive SUV. Gas mileage, so,so. 18-24 mpg. Requires premium gas. We have owned car 8 years and been very happy. Because of the turbo, oil changes very important. If you are a person who tends to be lax on maintenance, not a good car for you. There was once a timing chain issue/recall and Mazda took care of it. Very important. Make sure this was done. After owning 8 years hated parting with it.

Poor Gas Mileage
This car is fun to drive. It lives up to its Zoom Zoom motto but that's it. It requires premium which in this economy not good. Tire life was about 25k miles had to replace relatively early and the tires were expensive $150 per tire.
Worst car ever
3 years of problems, everything from AC compressor to turbo, Some things died at least twice (turbo). All kinds of noises, hesitation and pieces breaking left and right. Check engine light at least 2 times a month. Forget winter... You will get stuck in nominal snow. Tires went bald right away. Sun visors, trims, and other items broken lost or came off while driving. Terrible knocking noise from the fuel injectors while idle. Oil change is 2 hour nightmare. Gets under 15 MPH on HIGHWAY!!!! With premium gas. Check other forums, a lot of problems reported. Mazda dealers are not that friendly. Car came back from service with more problems than going in. Never buy mazda again.
