I loved my 2016 CX-5 GT so much that I had to get the new 2021 GT Reserve. I got the Soul Red Crystal with the white interior and I couldn't appreciate more how fun this is to drive.

I'm very happy with my purchase even though at the moment MSRP is a deal. This is my second CX-5, my first was a 2018 Grand Touring. The 2021 has the upgraded screen which is a bit bigger and higher definition. Same styling as my older car but the Turbo edition gives me a bit more oomph as I get on the highway or need to pass another car without having to kick it into sport mode. I would love to see wireless CarPlay in newer editions. Plus a bumper guard and at this trim level a cargo mat and all weather mats would be nice too. Otherwise the styling is on point and sexy. Love the lines of this car and believe you get a lot more in this class of car compared to the Honda, Toyota or Subaru. The attention to detail in the inner cabin and the comfort level is far superior.

Have 21 grand Turing reserve turbo love it very impressive use it for work in Brooklyn New York 17k not a single issue even better after 50k

Last year, I traded in my BMW X3 because of high maintenance costs, and rim repairs. I bought a new 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve AWD turbo. This SUV is quick and very comfortable on long trips. I love the Bose Audio system and the Heads up display keeps your eyes on the road. Just had my second oil change and it was a fourth of the BMW price. Great job Mazda!

A Serious Flaw in Mazda Service and in Design

I purchased a new 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve in November 2021. My purchase decision was driven by the NHTSA perfect 5 Star safety rating and the many rave reviews of the Mazda CX-5. I reduced my choices to either a Mazda CX-5 a Subaru Outback or an Audi Q5. Based on multiple test drives of each car, I selected Mazda CX-5 GTR. I have enjoyed driving and living with the Mazda CX-5 for little over a year now. It drives and handles beautifully and the Turbo spools up like a dream. The Mazda CX-5 has spent all its time so far in Virginia where the Winter weather is relatively mild. Effective January 1, 2023 Virginia also has the Consumer Data Protection Act (CDPA) in place., In the last month my satisfaction with the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda Motor Corporation has completely tanked for two very disturbing reasons: (1) About a month ago, quite accidentally, I realized that Mazda was tracking and passing/selling all my personal information. I had aired up my tires to 40 psi (well within the specs for the tire) for a cross country trip with a lot of gear, and a day later I received a text message from a local Mazda dealer informing me of the "ills and dangers" of over inflating tires and asking me to bring the vehicle in for service. I was surprised at this complete violation of privacy and contacted Mazda Customer Service where I was informed that if I wanted Mazda to not mine my information and share it with and sell it to whomever Mazda wants then they could disconnect the "connected services" permanently. When I purchased the Mazda CX-5, I also purchased the Mazda 10K Miles/10 Year Extended Warranty specifically because Passport Mazda, the dealer told me it would extend ALL the features of the factory warranty for 10 years which meant connected services as well. So basically when I contacted Mazda Corporate I was told that I could either relinquish all my privacy, in spite of the Virginia CDPA, and forfeit the services I bought and paid for or allow Mazda to continue to mine and share/sell my private and personal information. (2) My major design flaw was discovered today. I am in Santa Fe, NM currently and it has been snowing heavily every few days the past couple of weeks. The Mazda CX-5 has driven and handled very well in the snow with wonderful handling and almost no slipping. It snowed heavily yesterday and I drove home through the snow ad slush last evening and parked the Mazda CX-5 on the street outside my house. This morning I went out to the Mazda CX-5 and noticed that the Black Trim on the lower right quarter panel was on the ground. At first I thought that someone had hit the car but on close inspection I found that slush had accumulated under the car and onto the quarter panel trim, frozen during the night and the weight of the ice had pulled the trim off. I will have to contact Mazda and see how they deal with this as a "warranty issue". This slush had also accumulated along the rocker panels and the black plastic trim on both side of the Mazda CX-5 and the none of the door would open. I had to use a hair dryer to slowly remove the ice so I could open the drivers driver’s door without damage. I then walked around the car and realized I could not move the car because slush had also accumulated in all the wheel wells and had locked the front wheels and the backs wheels. I had to heat and chip ice out of the wheel wells above and around the tires so the wheels could move freely. Even after freeing the wheels, I was unable to make a lock-to-lock turn of the front wheels because of the ice accumulation on the inner fender wells, where I did not want to risk damaging any electric or hydraulic lines. I was finally able to chip away enough ice around the tires so they could move freely in a straight line. My expectation was that the remaining ice/slush would fall off once I started moving. I drove the Mazda CX-5 from Santa Fe to Albuquerque, a straight run on Interstate 25 with no sharp turns but could feel the tires rubbing against the ice even with the slight turns required to follow the road or lane changes. The Mazda CX-5 spent the day in Albuquerque where it was about 40 degrees, yet when I got back to Santa Fe this evening I found ice still in the front and rear wheel wells. This has to be a design flaw as I have never experienced something like this before. I also checked with neighbors, who had driven in the same snow and slush as I had and none of them had any issues. I should have taken pictures, but I think I was in a state of shock never having seen this before. I expect it will happen again and I will photo document it the next time.
