Good but not great
We test drove a Honda CR-V and an Acura RDX, and Mazda drove much better. This little SUV isn’t the quickest, nor the roomiest, nor the most fuel efficient, but it drives fairly good. It is quiet on the highway. Some negatives to consider: the car is underpowered and the infotainment is a joke. Some positives to consider: it has been very reliable, the ride is quiet and compliant, and the Bose sound system is decent for this price range. If you are cross shopping, please do yourself a favor and drive an Audi Q5, BMW X3, and a Lexus. I think those will cost more but fix all the negatives with this car. Update: We have about 28k miles on our 2017 Mazda now. The good: highway comfort is good, the fit and finish hold up well. The bad: The entertainment system is a total junk. There is an option to upgrade to an Apple Car Play for $400 but we have not done so. The lack of power from the engine is another smaller negative. This car could really use some extra power. Overall, we'll keep this car until the wheels fall off but in the future we'll buy a Lexus or an Audi Q5. UPDATE: The CX5 now has 36k miles. No problems. We just complete the wearable items like tires, oil, battery. No issues and the same gripes about inadequate power from the engine and the infotainment system is a total junk. If you are shopping for a vehicle, consider Lexus RX or an Audi Q5, although the newer Mazdas suppose to be a big improvement over the 2017s.

All in the family
I owned a 2013 Mazda CX5 Touring when they first came out and then I purchased a 2016 Mazda CX5, but this time I moved up the Grand Touring, then I just bought a 2017 Mazda CX5 Grand Touring. Also each of the cars I purchased was the same color a Silver Gray. The odds of buying not only the same car, same model and basically the same color are extremely rare and that speaks for it's self as to how good the car is. Plus my wife bought a 2013 CX5 2 weeks after I had bought my 2013 CX5 and she loves it. So I look at our CX5s as family.

big problem sudden acceleration
After shopping the other suv's out there we settled on Mazda's Grand Touring CX5...love the red color and the fit and finish. We had a good test drive, no problem. However after picking up the one we ordered and driving it about 10 miles were were slowing down for a flagger at a road repair situation. Just as we got to the flagger he stepped in front of the car to move the sign from slow to stop. Don't know what went wrong but thankfully we were going slow and had my foot on the break but as the man stepped in front of the car the car revved up to 4000rpm. I immediately put the car into park but the engine wouldn't slow down so I had to turn the engine totally off. It was a dangerous situation and could easily have ended in disaster. When the flagger waved us forward I started the car and drove a bit up the road....called the dealer and had them pick the car up. The eyesight not only didn't work but reacted in the opposite of what it was designed for.

Buying a New CX-5 without XM
I was very Disappointed to find out after i purchased a 2017 CX-5 Touring with BOSE System that the car is not equipped with XM radio. It comes up on the display but its Grayed out, i assume just to let you know you bought the Cheap version of the SUV. I guess Mazda feels 30K is Cheap and we would not want XM. I own Three other cars. VM with XM. Chevy Cruse with XM and My 2016 Mazda 6 Touring. the 2015 Mazda CX-5 i turned in did have it. I have recommend MAZDA to all my friends and Family plus the dealer ship is one of the best i have ever used. Due to this i will still recommend Mazda but i will let all know if you want XM you will need to look at other MFGs.

Get this car. Mazda CX-5.
I did a lot of research before buying this car. I spend over an hour each way to and from work and comfort and reliablilty were a must. I also wanted a luxury type car but couldn't bring myself to pay more than what I thought I should ( for an RDX) I'm a dentist with a lot of student loans. I was between a Jeep Cherokee and the Mazda CX5. Hands down, the Mazda was a better drive, quieter m, with more bells and whistles and a better resale value. Plus an amazing deal of 0% financing for the 2017 at the time for 63 mos. I love driving the car and am so happy I went with this one...I've had it one month now. You won't be disappointed. I had no idea Mazda was so fun to drive.
