Annoying computer glitches
Temperamental, annoying alarm goes off for no reason and you can't lock the car without it blaring. Control monitor randomly goes blank. I wish I could return this piece of junk.
Fantastic Car
Replaced my 2013 Mazda CX-5 GT for the new 2016 CX-5 GT model. The latest model is a HUGE improvement over the old model. Interior feels high class with soft touch materials throughout the cabin. I got the Titanium Grey with White Leather interior and this combination is amazing, makes you feel like you are in a higher class vehicle. All the tech features such as lane departure and radar/lasers are a nice improvement and work great. The entertainment touch screen system is higher resolution and much faster and more intuitive to use. Also the wipers are dead silent in this car. The Bose speaker system is clear with high bass. Overall, its sound proofing is noticeable over the old model.

Happy with the Drive, Not the Accessories
Let me start by saying I LOVE the way my 2016 CX-5 drives, love the way it looks, and like the all black interior. I HATE the fact that I bought the premium BOSE sound package and despite there being an XM option on the menu, there is no way to ACCESS XM radio because I did not get a Tech package or Grand Touring model....I don't get it...WHY IS XM ON THE MENU IF I cannot purchase A subscription Mazda? I traded in a KIA Sorrento that has satellite radio capabilities on all of their cars....grrrr. I am waiting on the dealer to call me to let me know the cost of adding a satellite receiver (if available for the 2016 model). I cannot recommend this vehicle just on principle.

Wonderful Car!
Great car! Edmunds research made the process easier.
Owned for 6 months
A++ all the way sports car handing and so much excitement to drive. Excellent fuel economy. Also like the exterior design that doesn't look like other cookie cutter CSUV's. Fit and finish are A+ as well, no problems so far.
Good control/comfort. Poor mileage.
Mileage is definitely lower than 23 mpg in city and 33 on highway :( ... comfortable to drive but experiencing bluetooth and air-conditioner issues.

Mazda CX 5 2016 1/2
Style -class - value - affordability and safety -- One thing I am not happy with though is the QUICK need to replace the rotors on all 4 wheels - especially back rotors at like, 35K miles? Seems excessive, but that is what I needed on all 4 - I like my car a lot, however I do not like how the infotainment system can go haywire sometimes - it can be reset by hitting Back + Nav + Mute and hold for 3 seconds - but that happens with any computer I suppose. And, if you're going to add Lumbar Support to the seats - make it highly noticeable so you can feel it - when this setting is at "full", you still don't feel it that much. A little more heat in the seats would be good too. ( For me anyway). Overall, I love the vehicle :)

MY NEW MAZDA CX-5
After owning large full size trucks for years for business and family use we were really worried about getting a small suv. We have always felt in order to feel safe when driving you have to drive something large and heavy. The down side was always really poor fuel eco. and handling. I have to say after only having my new cx 5 for 2 weeks the smaller size suv feels fine. My family of 4 feels comfortable and safe with all the safety features the cx 5 offers. I find myself grabbing the cx 5 keys instead of my truck keys every time I go out. It's also a blast to drive , its handling is precise and its quick. I was sure you would have to sacrifice fun and performance for fuel economy. Not the case with the cx 5 you get both with the great fuel eco.. I'm getting 25 mpg in the city which is twice the mpg's of my truck. inside the cx 5 the leather seats are a little firm but comfortable. Everything inside is laid out nice and is easy to use. We also have to thank the Ed Morse dealership in New Port Richie, fl. for there helpful staff and always warm welcome. The Amaral Family >

Mazda 2016 CX5 brakes are a problem!
Liked the car pretty much except for the fact that it is very noisy at startup. Now I am very annoyed with the fact that the brakes will need to be replaced, including one caliper in the rear left brake that is frozen. I never use the electronic emergency brake so that is not the cause. The pads are in rough shape and there is a lot of rust on the brakes. The car only has 45000+ miles on it. I have NEVER had this problem with any other car I/we owned. In reading online about these brakes I found that there are a lot of other folks experiencing the same thing. So, I hope that Mazda will take notice and work on fixing this problem. In the past I did see that Mazda was replacing some brakes on the CX5 for older years even when out of warranty due to this same issue. However, it appears that the 2016 Mazda CX5 brake problem is not being addressed. I will switch back to always buying a Toyota.
