Peppy with tight handling, this little SUV delivers big performance for a great price. It's the fourth car I've had in this class and my favorite so far!!

poor front seats

overall I am satisfied but very disappointed with the quality and comfort of the front seats, especially the driver side. i am also disappointed with the alarm system. There seems to be an electrical shortage that causes the alarm to sound randomly when the lock button is pressed. This happens 3-5 per month. Two dealerships have not been able to detect the sound and unable to find the source of the problem.

Great at first until you drive it for awhile.

When you first test drive the car, it feels awesome but after you buy it, you start noticing all the flaws. I am 24 years old and was way too excited to get this car. I got the top of the line model with everything loaded. Biggest mistake of my life for a first Brand new Car. My dads vibrating 2015 Honda CRV performs better. Pros: Great handling, sharp looks, comfortable, AUDI style interior. Cons: BOSE system is weak not worth the price. The navigation is horrible. The infotainment system freezes alot. Bluetooth feature is buggy. Connects to phone when it wants to. The interior starts rattling after 500 miles. I hear new noises from different places every time I drive. A/C just not cold enough even after setting it on 60. My 2004 mazda 6 had better A/C. The worst of all is the MPG. I was getting 26-27 first couple refills. But now i barely get 23 and I am a casual driver mostly on highway. The specs say upto 26 city and 30 highway. Back up sensors and wiper sensors work when ever they want to. Today. I got my first light on the dashboard regarding electronic brake issue. Just did some research and apparently I am not the only one. Its only been 2000 miles! Conclusion: It's a decent SUV but I would suggest looking at other SUV's. The price is not worth the quality. The tech pack was only worth it for the headlights and tailights and blind spot. Thank god I leased it. Getting rid of this POS after lease is up.

Mazda CR5 Touring value price

Touring model was purchased for safety- added side mirror alert, AWD. Didn't need the sunroof but it's a nice feature. Biggest complaints are sluggish acceleration, horrible navigation system. Soooo outdated!, Wish the trunk door was automatic! Instrument panels seem pretty cheap. Cute car, runs well but should have shopped around more before making the final decision.

My First Mazda CUV

Before buying any CUV, test drive other models (ex. Honda CRV, Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai and KIA.) For CX-5, love style, instrument layout, cornering, good mileage, and transmission. Having the car for 2 months and couple National Park road-trips and camping trips, I wish I would take AWD instead of FWD.

No cup holders for riders

After 7 months owning this car, I have found that the inside storage/holders are ridiculous. There is not much you can put in the door storage as its so narrow. NO CUP HOLDERS BUT 2! For this type vehicle it should have better storage easier to get your hand into. I'm very discouraged as we travel alot and nothing is convenient inside this car. Very discouraged I purchased this car

Good Value, but dreadful front seats

Have the dealership let you test drive one for an extended time. Front seats caused back pains after short time. Never had this problem in any other car, including recent a recent rental of a RAV4 which would have been comparable. Otherwise good value, and like the handling, but pointless if you cannot sit in it comfortably for an extended period.

Update to my March review

Rick P, 07/25/2017

I have now driven the CX5 5000 miles. The infotainment center is a major drawback to this vehicle. The touchscreen shuts down when the car is moving forcing you into voice control for navigation. Unfortunately, you must give 70 commands to put in an address. Navigation also lacks real time traffic updates, so no avoiding major slowdowns unless you use another GPS device. The XM radio is antiquated. Only shows 14 characters and no album art. In contrast, my daughters Mini produces large beautiful XM displays. The sound system is weak. The volume has to be up half way before you hear anything. The driver's armrest is poorly designed and uncomfortable. This high end package also lacks a back gate release and lacks a compass. The gas pedal must be punched to get any acceleration. The CX5 has good safety equipment. Unfortunately, it will be obsolete in two or three years. The lane departure system is annoting and has been shut off. I will update again if anything changes.

Test drove a lot of cuv comes to decision that i do not want cvt transmission.. This car is fun to drive cant wait to get back in the driver seat again and again.. I have almost 2000miles mostly driving in 8 am and 5 pm heavy traffic gas mil is about 28mpg which is not bad.. Sport function only works best when you come to completely stop and try to accelerate it..need cup holders for the back tho and lights in the trunk area is helpful.. After all i like the car..

Traded that POS in! Nothing but electrical problems that 2 different dealers couldn't fix.
