Still still great (still)

7 years, 155K. Still great, still trouble free. 68 mo (130K mi). Still trouble-free, a pleasure to drive and now paid off! Plan on keeping to 10 years 200K. 48 mo. update (90K) -- still great, continues to be trouble free. 33 mo. update (61K mi.) -- still great. No issues at all. 19 mo. update (39K mi.) - still still great. Only service has been oil changes and a new set of tires. OEMs wore out pretty fast. 13 mo. update (26K mi) - still great. No problems whatsoever. A wonderful vehicle. 6 mo. update - still absolutely great! average mpg up to 32-34. The critical consensus that this is the "driver's car" (not to mention the beauty) among affordable midsize sedans is spot-on. A true joy to drive on twisty roads, and also a very smooth and comfortable highway cruiser. Steering and suspension are terrific, as is the 6-speed manual transmission (PS the automatic with sport mode is also excellent btw, I am just a lifelong stick shift guy). While a few more horsepower would be nice, overall power is more than adequate and torquey fun if you keep in the RPM sweet spot. In short, complaints about the car being "underpowered" are overdone. What makes this car special is the way all the mechanical elements come together as a package. Mileage so far is right at the EPA ratings, and that's with a heavy foot. Recently experimented with keeping it at 70 on highway and averaged 37 mpg. Interior design, comfort and build quality are also excellent and a big step up from the car a couple of years ago. In short, if you are a driving enthusiast on a budget looking for a midsize sedan, this is your car hands down. Will come back and update this as the miles and years move along. Chris from NH :)

My Second Mazda6 - I Now Own Two

I bought my first 6 in Medellin, Colombia as a 5-year-old used car (a fully loaded 2010 model). I selected it for two primary reasons and many secondary ones. Primary: The South American version has 8 airbags. Other than a few very high-end European models, only the 6 and Kia Optima are so equipped. That ties into my other primary reason. Looks. Although my new 2017 model in TX has been significantly upgraded, they are each uniquely beautiful and clearly related by design evolution. While I could easily afford a more prestigious brand, reliability is much better from Mazda. In Colombia, Mazda doesn't make me stand out as a crime target, either. The two cars are almost identically equipped. My new car in Texas has an instantly noticeable improvement in power over my older car with the same engine displacement. I bought the new car as a Grand Touring model with the GT Premium Package (worth every penny) because I could not find one similar on the used market in the limited time I had to look. The reliability of my older one (it just never breaks) made me fearless about buying used again, but they are hard to find here and now (March 2017). I may never buy another car in either of my two home bases. The luxury, pleasure of driving and quality of fit, finish and materials used simply cannot be matched without spending much more money in either location. My only less-than-great marks are for ride and road noise, but they really aren't negatives. As a 58-year-old man, something smoother and quieter might make me more comfortable. They are also the price of making driving these cars fun, so not really complaints. The bumper-to-bumper warranty could be longer in today's competitive market, but if the car never breaks... ??? I'm sharing this, but secretly hoping not to contribute to spreading the big secret! There may be Korean models with slightly lower prices, and their quality is admittedly good, too, but I doubt that they have all of the features of my cars, and you won't see a dozen other Mazda6 Sedans sharing the parking lot every time you go to the grocery store. To this buyer, individuality has intangible value.

2017 Mazda 6 Grand Touring with Premium Package

I owned a 2014 BMW 3 X-Drive, and a 2015 MiniCooper S JCW Works Edition prior to this Mazda 6 Grand Touring with Premium Package.. Neither car compares in value for the money, when you combine the looks, tech, drive, comfort, and safety. I was actually shocked when I test drove this car. It was on a whim, because I liked the looks of it. Wow. The body is sexy as hell. I bought the Snowflake White Pearl paint with the brown Nappa leather interior, and 19" wheels. The interior is beautiful, roomy, and comfortable- very upscale with an excellent quality, coupled with all kinds of tech, safety features, and bells & whistles- it put my BMW and Mini to shame! This version essentially drives itself- especially when using the adaptive radar cruise control- simply amazing! The only thing this car doesn't do, is park itself(I am OK with that!). Now, what really surprised me, was how quite the cabin was while driving! I love a quiet cabin- minimal road noise or outside interference- and this car delivers! Love it! You couple that quiet cabin with the 11 speaker Bose surround sound stereo, and holy hell...you are in heaven!! so how does it drive, you may be asking? well, despite no turbo, and no AWD, this car handles amazingly well- nimble, quick, and fun. It has paddle shifters and a Sports mode as well- good stuff! Is it fast and furious? No....not if you are used to driving sporty turbo sedans etc... but for 185 HP, this engine moves and moves well! I am not the least bit unsatisfied "downgrading" from cars with turbos in them. This car is quick, agile, and smooth. It is a joy to drive, plain and simple. trunk space is more than ample- very much so. Beautiful wheels. All LED lights that are devilishly sexy, and turns heads. I bought the car on the spot- that is how much I loved it, that quickly- and I was actually in the market for an Audi or the like! For the money, you CAN'T get better, in my opinion. The gas mileage is excellent as well! I give this car my highest recommendation.

Best Car out of 12 that I have owned

This is the most satisfied I have ever been with an automobile and I was very satisfied with my previous Acura TL and my first was a 69' Grande Ford Mustang. Cars come a long way since that beautiful and powerful 69' Stang. The Mazda 2017 GT is fully loaded and craves the road. One has to be reminded that it is only a 4 cylinder. It is quick and powerful. To add to the fun one needs only to click the sports button and the car transforms into an even speedier sports car. Ladies and Gentlemen if it is value, quality, luxury, responsiveness and fun that you seek, this is your automobile. And if you are a technophile that appreciates very useful bells and whistles, this car has most of the relevant ones. The virtual pop-up drivers screen is an amazingly useful and informative visual tool and it is subtle and unobtrusive. It provides speed limits, upcoming signs and turn by turn directions when using navigation. The car virtually drives itself with the variable speed cruise control, lane assists and myriad of sensors to keep you in your lane and safe. While driving almost by itself using all of this technology, the most fun really occurs when you take control and just drive it yourself. The steering and handling are sporty and engaging. The steering is magnificent and an enhanced technology prevents leaning around tight turns. My Acura had a very nice ride but the Mazda's is different and much more nimble and responsive. The infotainment system is very BMW like and easily performs a multitude of functions safely and without distraction. Then, when you just want to cruise with some great mellow or rocking tunes the bosse Stereo provides superior sound quality. There is very little to dislike. I can think of only some unfortunate uses of plastic (minor), a hood with no pistons and a trunk without spring loaded response as negatives. The rims while really nice do not stay that way long. The interior is luxurious and composed of expensive metals and supple leathers. The leather is soft to the touch and it is placed strategically where one rests ones fingers, hands, legs and you will find yourself touching these soft materials and consciously recognizing how smart Mazda was to use them in just the right way. It is the attention to detail that provides that bang for your buck. I tried to look for details to criticize prior to my review and honestly could find just the few that I have mentioned. Folks if you want complete satisfaction for a very reasonable price and you do not care that the symbol is Mazda and not BMW or Mercedes or Audi, this car is for you. The new Mazda 6 GT (2017) is for the driving enthusiast that does not care what others think. The car is cool and has a great look and the styling is right there with other premium brands. I compared it with the Acura ILX and TLX and the Honda Accord and once I test drove it, I was impressed. Now that I have driven it for over six months, I am in love with this car and look forward to driving it every day. I hope this review is helpful and saves you from overspending on a status car. Zoom Zoom! There is a reason this is their motto. It fits! Oh and the gas mileage is incredible using regular gas. it gets excellent gas mileage while providing superior power. I cannot figure how they get that much power and savings from such a powerful little engine. Amazing!!!!! This car is a sleeper and under exposed in the marketplace. Mazda is back in a big way. Take I for a test drive but remember to punch it for the real experience. Great NY car.

Great Car

I used to own a 2014 BMW 7 series which I loved to death. However, I wasn't in love with the maintenance costs and as faith would have it, the transmission went out on me. I wanted something that was economical to maintain, but still sporty and had a lot of tech features. Looked around but kept on going back to the 2017 Mazda 6 Grand Touring. No regrets whatsoever. It drives like a dream especially in Sport Mode. It looks very stylish inside and out. Most importantly, it has awesome safety fears like lane assist, radar controlled braking to prevent you from hitting the car in front of you and so much more. This car has more bells and whistles than I had in my old beamer. When I had that beamer, I was so used to getting "glances of admiration" or people stopping me to compliment me on my car. I assumed that this would stop. Once I got the mazda. How wrong was I. This car is a head turner. I still get my glances of admiration and I still get the casual "I like your car" or "nice! what car is this?" If you're in the market for a nice car that looks good, drive good and is highly reasonable to maintain and if you no longer want to buy premium gas or $120 oil changes, this is the car for you.

Miss Your 80's-early 2000 3 Series? This is it.

Nov 2023 update: Nearly 80k and still solid. No suspension issues, have replaced front brakes for the second time, and still a great handling, quiet car. Infotainment is maddening, but I'll drive this car until the wheels fall off. No 7 year itch for this owner. At any price point, this is one of the purest sporty sedans on the market. My summary is based on one year of ownership and 11,000 miles. So far, I've spent all of $31.50 on an oil change. No warranty issues and 30 mpg city, 36 highway. This car has similar DNA to the Miata in that it may be a bit underpowered, but rewards smooth inputs and makes carrying speed through corners that much more rewarding. I truly have no complaints. If you're a gadget person, it has everything I think the normal person expects these days (I came from a 2003 car with no connectivity whatsoever) and the backup camera and audio are just fine. The six-speed manual is great and the clutch is pretty effortless. My only con comes from being a dog owner with a cloth interior. My trusty dog hasn't set a paw in the car but fur still makes into the weave of the fabric and is very difficult to get out. Bottom line- own a dog, get leather. The factory tires are a little meh, but I'll upgrade them when they wear out. They're not too shabby in rain or snow, but jackrabbit starts in inclement weather will quickly overpower the available traction. At first I thought I'd drive this for a few years and hand off to a kid when they head off to college in 6 years, but I think I'll be keeping this one. :) Jan 2019 Update: This car gets better with age. Tires are wearing well, mileage has stayed above 30, and everything's broken in nicely. I've looked at an Audi A5 and an Acura RDX since, but I also look at my tiny car payment, looming college bills, and solid handling and keep my wallet closed! Nov 2020 update: 40k miles and four years. Still no major issues and now that Audi stopped selling manuals, the Mazda 6 is in our stable til death do us part. Never had a warranty claim and my full costs to-date for routine maintenance is a whopping $250 bucks. New tires coming soon (OEM lasted >40k, but getting replaced soon) and my only cosmetic complaint is the leather on the bottom of the steering wheel not wearing as well as I think it should. If you're a cheapskate that still demands solid handling, I can't recommend this car enough. November 2021 update: 52,500 miles. New tires at 45k (Conti DSWs that crush the OEM, in my opinion), rear brakes at 45k and fronts at 52.5k. Everything holds up well but the infotainment screen has a mind of its own on occasion and changes the radio station or shifts to another screen. Other than tires/alignment, this car has yet to visit a mechanic and all-in maintenance costs to date are $1,500. I would strongly recommend this car in used form (now that they're discontinuing it) to anyone.

This is my 2nd Mazda. First was a 2011 Mazda 3GT hatchback ..its still going strong at 223K miles and has never has anything fail on it. Just routine maintenance...so I thought I'd buy the 6 sedan this time..so glad I did. I drive a lot for work and needed something good on gas as well as comfortable to drive. This car has some really cool features ( practically autonomous driving ) and handles well. I've had it since July '17 and just love it. The ability to play MP3s from a USB stick is just one of my favorite features. Drove it to SW Florida from NC and no issues at all and averaged about 33MPG ( I have a bit of a heavy foot as well ) Sport mode rocks and the radar / lane assist and HUD are nice features as well. Love it...no problems at all. Fit and finish was great...going to hang onto this one for a long time to come. -Update: Well unfortunately my 2017 Mazda 6 was totaled in an accident. The good news... I bought a 2020 Mazda 6 and now it has a turbo....interior is a bit different and even a bit more plush. Love my Mazdas ZoomZoom

First time I have ever owned a Mazda and so far it has been a dream. The parchment interior is an eye-catcher and everyone that sees the car thinks it looks amazing. Driving it feels like you are totally in control and the paddle shifters and Sport mode add some fun. Mileage is ok but I was hoping for better. Bose sound system is spot on and overall I am very pleased with this car. Recently had a valet comment that he thought it was a Lexus! I have about 5k miles on it and no complaints. So three years later and about 75k miles and this car is holding up great. Solid 32 mpg overall and no big issues. Front rotors warped at about 30k miles. One big complaint I do have is the 19 inch wheels. Known problem of the clearcoat peeling off. Mine started at about the 2 year mark and no recall or warranty coverage. Honestly the one reason I may not buy another Mazda. It has been a great car but the manufacturer should stand behind defects like this. It will cost me close to 1k bucks to either have these wheels refinished or replace them.

My new 2017.5 Mazda 6 is a blast to drive

My new 2017.5 Mazda 6 Touring is a great car! The engine is smooth and responsive and the handling is down right amazing. The car feels like a sports car 1/2 it's size, but has a substantial plush feeling inside and out. The ride is firm, but compliant and the fit and finish is amazing. The styling inside and out will put some luxury cars to shame. I am very impressed and would highly recommend a Mazda 6.

This is my first Mazda and I must say I'm impressed. I've typically owned an SUV - so transitioning to a car is different (getting out is surprising - because it requires stepping up; instead of out). The Mazda 6 Touring has been a great transition. It's a smooth ride, has great power and all the extras. I wasn't sure about the vertical mid-console display but it keeps the sun from causing any visibility issues. I love the blind spot alerts! The interior and exterior are sleek. The suspension isn't bad for a sedan; it's better than other sedans I've test driven. Outside noise is a little greater than I'd like... but I can't complain. For the price and the quality... I highly recommend the Mazda 6.

I fell in love with the new '18 Honda Accord and convinced myself this was the car I was going to buy. Until I decided to test drive the Mazda. The Mazda 6 was much more fun to drive and had all of the bells and whistles that the touring Accord has. Mazda was also willing to sweeten the pot more as well. I gave up Apple car play, not a biggie for me, but I did gain a fun, responsive sedan that I love to drive, and that gets good gas mileage. I also felt that M6 was quieter, and the seats were more comfortable. Bottom line: I don't need more power than the Mazda 6 gives me. It's far more responsive than any 4 cylinder I've driven. Love the safety features and head up display, and I find the infotainment system easy to use. Yep, so far, no complaints.

I am very pleased with this car. I have owned 2 Mazda trucks before this still have a 2001. The comfort and driving are so good. Great value for what the car comes with. Feels like a luxury car without the price. Electronic features are very good and like how they control the car. You won't be disappointed. Update: Have had the car for over a year. The car=is a pleasure to drive and so comfortable. The safety features are very comforting like blind spot monitoring when on the highway or backing out of the garage.into the street. This car has met all my expectations. Check out Mazda and see what value you get.

This is the best car I've ever owned...at least so far!! I've owned Toyotas, Hondas, Hyundais, and even Mercedes...but this car is the best overall. I love the fit and finish, the comfort level of the seats and ergonomics as I drive. The technology is top notch, and gas mileage is awesome. No car is perfect, but, for the value, this car is on the top!

Very surprised at the handling of this auto. Rack and pinion is great. Ride is smooth. Gas mileage wonderful. Grandkids in and out easily (they love it). Stick is fluid and easy. Great lines......crouchy stance. What a great value. Stevenson in Wilmington rocks........see Sean. Update..after 6k miles.....great car....only thing it needs is larger power plant and rear wheel drive

I have owned 7 Mazda's, 3 MPV's, 2 626's, a Mazda Pick-up truck, and this new Mazda 6. All have been exceptionally reliable. The Mazda 6 2017 Grand Touring Model, is definitely an affordable luxury car on par with the Lexus 350 ES which I used to own. It is quite and powerful, with a luxury interior, and all the bells and whistles and up to date technology. The Mazda 6 Grand Touring, has a comfortable ride, a wonder Bose sound system, and comfortable leather seats. I was going to buy the Mazda 3, put the 6 was a better value.

noise level is closer to older generation Accord. However, there's always a price discount on Mazda 6 and not too much with Accord or Camry. You get a lot more tech/car for a lot less.

I paid $15,777 for my 2017 Touring. Factoring compromises like high miles (40K) over a 2018 w/no miles, my savings of roughly $5,000 is well worth it to me. She's (of course she's a she) the Soul Red I wanted, and very clean. I love to drive, in particular our twisty coastal roads. She handles like a dream. Sits flat on the road. Lovely understeer. I can only presume what Mazda terms Skyactive includes the transmission's response to rises and falls in the road. For example, there is no selection for overdrive. When driving in curves, downhill, I habitually turn overdrive off. No overdrive here, but engine braking kicks in automatically. Very nice. As for pick-up, in many areas of the Oregon coast opportunities for safe passing (loads of tourists, driving slowly) are rare and short. Step on the accelerator at 45 mph, and I'm at 80 as I pass. Remarkable for such a small engine, but I'm grateful for the capability. Brakes? Oboy, do they work. Smooth and quick. If I sound delighted, it's because I am. Thank you Mazda for a great car.

Have enjoyed driving this car more than I anticipated. I love the overall design and the driving dynamics. I knew this was classed as a drivers car, but it really grows on you the more you drive it. Have had absolutely no problems with it after 25000 miles plus. Combined fuel consumption is above 31 mpg over the 25K on regular gas while not "driving like a little old lady". Comfortable, practical, bullet proof reliability and a good drive. My other car is a Miata, and this solidifies my satisfaction with the Mazda brand. The new models now can be had with the turbo and additional HP, which would be nice, but not a must. My only "gripe" would be to have an extended arm rest in the driver's door - I have the seat all the way back, and then find the arm rest a bit shorter than I would prefer.

I don't have a turbo and honestly don't feel the need to have one. If you want a drag racing car pick another... If you want the best handling, comfortable, plenty of zoom zoom and looking in the mirror and seeing a smile on your face every time you drive then this is the only car you need. Discover how much fun driving can actually be. I have never regretted my purchase and would do so again. I truly love this car ❤️.

Love this car the only thing is that, I’m a big guy and I have trouble getting in/out, other than that it’s a great car. I’ve owned Honda’s, Toyota, chevys, and a Ford, I will never have a Ford or a Chevy again, maybe a Honda only for resale but I’m going to have this car for (I’m hoping 10yrs. I sure do live it! Nice job Mazda nice job

gas mileage is a BIG disappointment. Neither Skyactive engine/transmission, nor the listed gas mileage ( 26/35 /29) are not even close to real drive numbers. Barely hitting 30 mpg in the summer on highways and now with the winter fuel mixture ( added ethanol), it barely hits 27mpg. I am an extremely conservative driver with mostly (80%) highway, cruising @ 70mph. Listed 35mpg is a BIG LIE!!. My old 2004 Camry with an antiquated powertrain , gets me 27 mpg average too. For $25,000 less.. . Mazda 6 is a great car overall, but don’t let yourself be fooled by the "Skyactive" which has anything “sky-ish”...on the contrary , it is a very down to earth, average engine with an average to poor gas mileage for its class.

I stand by my review from January 2019. If you're looking at the Accord, Camry, Altima, Fusion or Malibu, consider Mazda's secret weapon...the Mazda 6. This small car company produces a machine that's more fun to drive and easier to afford. Zoom, zoom is alive and well! Superior handling, solid quality construction and eye-catching looks. The Sky Active Technology 2.5 liter engine is a jewel and it loves to fly. The more we drive this car the happier we are with our choice. Now, after more than 3 years with our Mazda 6, we still marvel at the smooth ride, responsive handling and trouble-free reliability. Still solid...no rattles...and it really looks great in soul red!

The 2017 Mazda6 Touring has everything I like, I mean almost everything, except heated driver seat. I love the safety sensor set which work as it should and make driving much safer. I opted for the Mazda6 over Honda and Toyota because similar sensor was not available in their 2017 models. Very precious steering and responsive engine. The Touring is a sporty trim so do not expect a soft ride like the Camry.

60k miles on it and the car drives great, sips gas (30 mpg, mixed driving) while giving better performance than the numbers like horsepower would indicate. Both the interior and exterior have style and the seats are comfortable and have held up well. Everything on the car just works well together. Handles, shifts, everything feels precise. One downside is the touchscreen which is susceptible to damage from the sun with replacement at $1k+. Another glitch is the backup camera which does not always come on after starting up - it often waits until everything boots up a minute or two later. It did require a PCV replacement at 55k miles, not unexpected for an 8 year old car.

First Mazda ever owned. Car drives better than any I've owned in past....Lots of fun with superior handling. Quicker than expected for a 4 cylinder especially with the sport button. Interior is extremely nice with typical amount of room for a family sedan. Extremely happy with this purchase and look forward to owning for many years to come.

Getting hard to buy a nice manual trans. car in US

Best manual transmission 4 door sedan available in the USA today (Late Fall 2016)! Also, a good value for the NEW price! I hope it turns out to be reliable and economic to own. AFTER a year of owning and driving nearly 10k miles, so far reliable and generally economic. City/Highway average now up to about 33-34 MPG. I changed oil once since initial "free" change at the dealer. Goofy internal 8mm internal hex bit drive oil drain plug, but replaced with more normal 17mm drain plug. Oil filter and drain located under a small plastic cover. Not to bad to get to, but be sure to put anti-seize on all fasteners that hold the small cover on if you live in a wet and/or salty area, or good luck getting them off. Rides and handles like a sports car. Not exactly like our Miata, but you can haul more stuff. We have a LOT of windy roads in KY... Electronics get messed up from time to time, if you start and drive, and don't wait for them to catch up. Annoying, but no impact on operation of the car. I did notice that the blind spot warning lights/beeps on the mirrors are NOT 100% reliable. So, keep the habit of LOOKING too. VERY cumbersome changing the radio stations (about a 4-5 step process, depending on the screen you are in when you start. I try to only change stations when stopped, or pulled off road, so as not to crash. Also, there no way to turn the radio off, that I have found, just have to mute it. It was so nice on last car just to push 1 button to turn on and then press a single button to change stations. Ahh, the good old days! I did notice that Mazda made heated seats available in the "Touring" trim model in the USA for 2018. In the 2017 "Touring" trim level, my car, the highest trim level that one could get a Manual Transmission, heated seats were NOT available, damn (they were in Canada, should have shopped there). I raised some hell about this to dealer and Mazda, and also found retrofit is not practical. I really miss the heated seats in my 2017 "Touring" model, and besides the one button radio station change, this is the only thing I view as a MAJOR downgrade from my previous car. Final thought, the car is bigger than I originally thought, but after a year I am getting used to the sporty land yacht.... Two years in, all still GREAT, EXCEPT horrible electronics! All still work, but VERY time consuming and difficult to work. I hope the team that designed it/them got FIRED from Mazda by now!!! Almost 4 years in, and 38k miles now. I had to get new tires about 35k miles, as factory originals started slipping in the wet a little. Tires were pricey at about $800 all-in. No major maintenance yet, just oil and filter changes, and I changed the gear oil in the 6 Speed Manual transmission to Red Line MTL. Everything still working! Radio station changes still suck..... 4 years in, with 40k+ miles, still a good car. Everything still works and electronics still SUCK!! May sell soon, as I need a truck badly for the ranch...... 6+ years in now, and 50k+ miles, still going strong. No major maintenance, just oil & filter changes, tire rotations, transmission oil change, and I did get a new battery about 3 months ago. I also changed a few light bulbs to LEDs, purely cosmetic, but much brighter. May need brakes soon, but really don't use them much with a Manual Trans. Still very happy with it, except for the radio/electronics being so cumbersome to use. Still 32-35 MPG all day long..... About 7 years in and 60k+ miles, still going strong. I did buy new spark plugs and boots to replace at 70k miles like the maintenance schedule says. Just oil & filter changes, transmission lube change, new battery and tires so far. Starts and runs great, and everything still works. Bought a cheap old truck for the Ranch, so got to keep this car. It still gets great fuel mileage, and no new brakes yet! Likely run it into the ground now. Hoping for 250k miles at least.... Update at 68k miles: Right front wheel bearing starting to howl a little now. I have a replacement TIMKEN bearing/hub for it. Just waiting for weather to improve before replacement, along with spark plugs and probably brakes. Still 32-36MPG most tank fulls....... OK, now at 72k miles. Recently replaced all brakes, right front wheel bearing hub, and right front CV axle. There is still bearing howl coming from somewhere. I decided to wait till something gets obviously LOUD and/or lose before firing the parts-cannon again. Also replaced spark-plugs, but spark plug boots still looked, and felt, like new, so saved them for later. All else great, but still have to pullover to change the radio station. Still great milage

I purchased a 2017 Mazda 6 less than 90 days ago. Today when I hit the start button, every warning light came on. Called Mazda roadside assistance - sent a wrecker 2 hrs later but couldn't help me turn off the car first. Dealer has had the car for the day, hasn't looked at it yet and don't know when they will. No courtesy car until they look at it. Can't chat with Mazda on their website and there is over a 1 hour wait to talk with someone. If I was selling Hondas I'd make sure people knew this. Keep the website up showing mazda's complaint/warranty dept are booked full.

We were given this car as a loaner while my wife's Fusion was in the shop after being hit in the rear by someone texting. I found the Mazda to be OK but nothing exceptional. It rode harsher and with considerably more road noise than the Fusion it was replacing but felt a bit "smaller and lighter" (so to speak) handling wise. One thing I really disliked about it was that the steering felt "nervous" requiring constant steering corrections as it seemed to tramline on even the smallest road issues. Overall it was OK but in truth I was happy to get the Fusion back after driving this for about 10 days.

Bought a top of the line Mazda 6 brand new a few years ago. It worked perfectly up until 50k miles which is when the GPS and radio completely stopped working. At 60,500 miles just 500 after the warranty expired the cars engine broke down even though I regularly had it serviced leaving me with a 7,000+ dollar bill for diagnostics and a new engine with higher mileage. I ended up trading it in for a much older car since I couldn't afford the new engine. Aside from this Mazda's roadside assistance when the engine failed was a nightmare. My car broke down in a remote desert area in the mid-summer where I barely had any phone signal and couldn't connect to the internet, roadside assistance repeatedly sent me forms through text that required internet connection to fill even though I told them I couldn't connect to the internet. They insisted I fill them and would not send anybody until I did. After 2.5 hours in the heat and fairly bad dehydration I ended up calling another tow company who I had to pay over $300 to help. Needless to say the whole experience was a nightmare and very dangerous so after owning 3 Mazda's previously I will never buy one again.

I love the look of the car and appreciate the performance updates in the 2017.5 Mazda6 Touring version. I just wish that the passenger seat was powered like the driver seat. I assumed power seats came in tandem; both seats have heat, so I thought both would have power adjustment capabilities. Otherwise, great car and feels powerful in sport mode ;)

I selected this car primarily because the cost compared to the reliability ratings were a good deal, and it had decent features. After getting the car I have to say it has a higher level of finish and quality feal than I would have expected for this price. Even though its a 4 cylinder, its very peppy and fast. The sound system (has the bose edition on the grand touring model) sounds excellent and has great bass. For a car, its very spacious and roomy, even for a 6'1" person like myself.

Luxurious, Stylish & Underpowered

I bought my Mazda6 GT with the Premium Package two years ago to replace my 2008 Acura RL. I compared the car against several BMW's and Audi's, but the Mazda stole my heart. It had more tech, and superior handling to any of the German rivals I tested, all at a considerably lower price. I loved the design, I knew the car had a solid reputation for durability and longevity, and offered a 5 star crash test, with a plus rating (according to the NHTSA). I opted for an extended warranty, which only covered drivetrain components. None of which ever went bad. I've kept up with maintenance as per warranty standards, and the car hasn't given me any mechanical issues. On the other hand, the car has had plenty of other issues, which I've found annoying. For instance, 3 months after purchasing it, my GPS stopped working. I took it to the Mazda dealership and they said that the SD card needed to be replaced. They quoted me $250 for a new one. Fortunately the service advisor is a friend of mine, and he told me that I could find one on Amazon for about $20, which I did. Unfortunately, it didn't last longer than 4 months. Note: without the GPS card, the traffic sign recognition system on the heads up display stops working (a premium package added feature). I've had some peeling of the trim (exclusive trim to the premium package). I haven't bothered replacing it yet. The Bose speakers at the back have started making buzzing/distorted noises. I read online that it is a quality problem with the Bose speakers, but can be repaired by removing the door panel, and the speakers, and gluing around the edge of the speakers, or replacing the speakers altogether for $100 each. Another issue with the car is the Mazda Connect screen jumping around and pressing buttons whenever it wants and where ever it wants. It has this tendency to change the radio station or set new destinations on the GPS, or adjust anything on the screen randomly at anytime. Jumping around and wildly selecting random options, skipping music, etc. I took the car to Mazda and got a software update, but the problem persists. There are only 3 solutions to this problem: 1) Try to disable the touch functionality using a script 2) Pay for a replacement 3) Disconnect the touch screen wire inside the screen by opening up the dashboard and taking apart the screen. Now for the cons: This car is utterly underpowered, probably one of the most underpowered cars I've ever owned. The transmission is poorly geared and jumps to 2nd and third without even giving 1st gear a chance. The car lacks torque and does not have pulling power, even at high speeds to get up to speed. The throttle is a lot more responsive on "sport mode", but the transmission holds gears for far too long to enjoy driving using it in day-to-day driving. The trunk does not unlock after unlocking the doors. You need to manually open the trunk from inside the car, use the open trunk button on the remote, or have the keys inside your pocket when pressing the trunk open button. It's very annoying and inefficiently designed. A handful of electrical issues as mentioned above. Gas mileage is worst than advertised. "i-Eloop" seems falsely advertised and doesn't really do anything in particular. The so called "grill vents" don't really improve the gas mileage. I'm averaging about 10.5L/100 km.
