Mazda's Fusion Fighter!
Looking to replace my 2010 Fusion, I was *this* close to choosing the redesigned 2013 Fusion, but luckily waited a couple weeks for the new Mazda 6 to arrive. The 6 has a much more driver-oriented dash than the Fusion. MyFord's touch screen is simply hideous, while my 6's Technology package includes the Command Knob which is like the BMW iDrive. The 6's Skyactive engine delivers plenty of power without the added complication of Ford turbocharged engines (already 4 recalls!). While both 6 and Fusion are beautifully styled, I think the 6's high end Jag-like looks will wear better.
Has been amazing for 78k
Have managed 32.2 MPG over 78k so far. Love the handling-it is a blast to drive. Could use a bit more HP. The transmission is flawless. It's nice to actually have a 6-speed instead of a CVT junk. Stock tires are junk. Opted to get 18" rims and 245/45/18 tires instead and the ride quality has improved a bit. Just a blast to drive and the MPG is a huge bonus. Have gotten a best tank of 578 miles and 37.9 MPG. Would be happy to answer any questions as I have one of the highest mileage 2014's out there according to www.fuelly.com from what I have seen.

Drive Mazda 6 before buying anything in this class!!!
If you are looking at cars in this class, you must drive the 6 before deciding. It took over three months and 2 to 3 test drives on almost everything in this class, then the 2014 6's came in and it was end of story for all the others. This car is fun!!! The others are nice, Accord Sport is the only thing close, but you won't be driving what everyone else is driving with the 6. The red color is awesome, the silver was also very nice. Gas mileage is great 28mpg average so far with mostly city driving. I feel that I bought a luxury sports car at $15 to $20 thousand less than the luxury brands. Love the leatherette seat very comfortable and I'm 6'3", wife is 5'4" and also is very comfortable.
Still love getting in it and driving it wherever!
Over two years now and I still love it. I wash it frequently because I want to, it's fun to take care of it, not a chore. It looks so nice, the red, It's nice clean. Great gas mileage. The controls are laid out so sensible, not loud, obnoxious, just there where you like them, timeless. I just wish the road noise was a bit less, but maybe when these tires wear out and I switch to some michelins that will help. Not a big deal.

A good value, real looker but needs improvements
I have had it for a year now with 15k miles and it has its good and bad points. The fuel mileage was a major factor in my choice but also wanted performance and drivability. Generally with a 4 cylinder you a lack the torque and power that you normally get with a V6. I am happy with what Mazda had achieved with this high compression 2.5 liter DOHC. Nice is being able to run on regular gas unlike the competitors who are using 2.0 liter turbo to get the same result. The fuel mileage is excellent averaging over 34 mpg under 60/40 highway/city driving. I figure every fill up and comparing against the electronic display with similar results. The six speed AT with manual override is awesome.
