Lexus GS 300 Owner Review

s. townsend, 08/01/2005
2006 Lexus GS 300 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 6A)

This is my fifth Lexus and my third GS 300. I have owned several luxury cars (Mercedes, BMW, Volvo) and none compare to the quality and lack of problems and issues to the Lexus line. I prefer the rear wheel drive and thus continue to choose the GS 300. The 6 cylinder engine is more than sufficient to create power when needed. The 400 is simply a waste of money. The car is quiet, comfortable, sporty and a joy to drive.

2006 GS 300 AWD with approximately 137000 miles. If well maintained, you’ll definitely have zero issues with this amazing car. Cons: Excessive Oil Consumption A PROTIP: If you ever need to reconnect the battery, make sure you reprogram the sunroof. Pros: It’s a reasonable price to have a lot of features that many modern cars still don’t have til this day. One time Lexus always Lexus

The Lexus GS AWD is fun to drive and more youthful than the E Class and Acura RL. The GS has the best exterior styling. It is very quiet and has a very smooth ride. When it is time to go the GS moves quickly, like a trained stallion. The interior is rich, but not overstated. The controls are place perfectly. People just stare at the car. The GS has exceeded my expectation in value, ride/drive, and design. It is the perfect car for an excutive that runs a conservative and innovative business. The car adds to a person's brand.

We replaced our 03 GS300 with an 06. Loved the old one figured we'd love the newer one. Wrong. Brakes, cruise ride , AC and Nav don't work as good as old car. Ride and handling choppier also. Tranny hunts for gears at low speed and in the hills. Has been in the shop 5 times in three months. Disappointing car. Great to look at but no fun to drive. Am going to trade for something that I can live with.

The new GS 430 2006 has plenty of technical features, unfortunately this was my third lexus purchase but the worst. The body integrity is very poor I had a 18mph accident and the car damages $10,000, the other car had a minor fender bend.

This car is not up to Lexus standards . It rides rough, there was road noise (could not even hear the radio) vision is restricted (blind spots) the 3.0 245hp engine performed like a "Briggs & Stratton 5 hp lawn engine. I was literally scared to venture out into oncoming traffic on a major highway. Interior was well appointed, and luxurious, seats were fine, but overall not a fun car to drive or ride in. Dissapointing for a Lexus and I have two of them which are the best cars I have owned.

I bought this car as a CPO in October 2007. I traded a 2002 BMW 745Li. This car does not drive like the BMW and lacks some amenities, but all in all, it's a great value. In my driving thus far, I average 27 MPG city and 38 MPG on long trips. With that kind of mileage, who needs a hybrid. This is an excellent car for the $$$.

Didn't like the interior/dash of the M35 or 530. Liked the handling, exterior and interior appearance of the A6, but from the first drive of the GS300 my wife and I loved the performance, ride and quietness. We had a 2004 S80 T6 before, great acceleration and low end torque but too on/off. GS300 is a very comfortable car to drive, smooth seamless shifting and braking. Had a slight tracking problem but dealership and Lexus rep. jumped on the problem quickly and resolved it with minimal inconvenience to me. Fuel economy is unbelievable for a 245hp vehicle. Highway gives 38 mpg (Imperial)@75mph, mixed driving is 30 mpg (Imperial).

Reading some of the reviews on here makes me wonder if some of these are real or not. This is an amazing car. I've owned many cars and this is by far the best quality vehicle that I ever witnessed. Absolutely perfect in every way. I've owned cars that were double the price and this is a better car. I am 6' 4" tall and can fit in this car better than my previous full sized SUV. My head rubbed the roofline in my SUV, doesn't even come close in my GS.

This is by far the best car I've ever owned. The ride is smooth as silk and the responsiveness is top notch. The interior is impeccable and luxurious without being overstated. I've read other reviews regarding the hide away panel with the less frequently used controls and actually like it as it keeps the dashboard from being overly cluttered. The navigation system is easy to use and quite intuitive. The Mark Levinson sound system is one of the tops in any car I've owned before.

This is an awesome car. It is so much fun to drive that I volunteer to go grocery shopping. We wanted to get the RWD, but got the AWD because we wanted a specific color that is not easily available. The slight drop in the fuel efficiency bothers me, but I forget all about it when I start the car.

Lexus nailed it with this one. Great exterior design. It looks both sporty and elegant. The interior is typical lexus - well appointed and comfortable. I just felt at home the first time I took it for a test drive and the experience has gotten better each time. The engine is silky smooth and responsive when you need it. I look forward to getting behind the wheel.

Bought as a commute car--most comfortable car I have ever ridden in. Looked at BMWs but reports of repair issues nixed that thought. So far, I have driven 48M trouble free miles, get good mileage on my commute--30 MPG on freeways and 26-28 on combination city/country roads. Love the navigation system.

Really nice car. Ride is a little too firm for me. Handling is very good. Direct injection engine is very good, but 'ticks' at idle. Interior is tight. Center console is too tall and wide, making interior feel cramped. Misc. control door near driver's left knee is very inconvenient. Highway gas mileage is excellent - 29 to 32 MPG. Avalon is probably a better value.

Graduating from an Infiniti J30 and an Audi A4, this car tops them all, clearly superior in comfort, dependability and class. In addition to a comfort upgrade, it has features the others omitted. The interface of the control panel takes some adjusting to but allows one into the 21st century. You have to check to see if it is running as the engine purrs flawlessly. It handles superbly allowing you a genuine feel of the road.

The dumbest things ever done to a car - hide most of the adjustment. You can only reach it by opening a box or using a touch screen. This makes a lot of inconveniences you won't find in a 2005 or earlier model.

Have really enjoyed my GS 300. smooth, quiet, comfortable and beautiful. Have been stopped in store parking lots and asked all about my vehicle. I love the sportier look also. The only negative items I can mention are the truck configurations and that the owners manual does not fit in the glove compartment (for petes sake). The lip spoiler also makes the vehicle look even prettier.

I refer to performance, comfort, quality of "build", and dependability - and low cost of maintenance. Lexus has it figured out!

Wow! What a beautiful car; especially in comparison to the older model. However, Lexus really dropped the ball on this one. Granted it could be that I just happened to purchase a lemon but my car is at the dealer usually once or twice, sometimes more, a month for just about everything under the sun--from off track head-lamp washers to faulty oxygen sensors. If you want a car that looks very timeless then this is the car for you. If you want something reliable; I'd suggest a Yugo before this car.

Run flat tires are an interesting concept, however, no spare tire comes with the vehicle. Run flat tires have to be replaced after driving no farther than 100 miles. My dealer has no run flat tire in stock. If you're somewhere more than 100 miles from a dealer,or it's a Sunday, or, as in my case, the dealer does not have a replacement...guess what. Decided to order the non-full sized spare tire (the only one that will fit in the supplied empty tire well). Dealer price for the temporary spare is $331.00! Lexus Customer Service was a further source of aggrevation...they suggested that "a spare tire kit was available." Thanks Lexus, for incredibly un-Lexus like foresight!

I purchased my car in 2005. I enjoy driving it. Brighter interior light needed when you open the doors since my car has black interior. Display panel is easy to operate. I have run-flat tires and after two weeks of driving my car, I had a flat. I had to purchase a new tire. Didn't like that at all. Overall, great car, comfort and appearance. I've never owned a Lexus before but I would recommend the Lexus to my friends. The ride is superb!!! No wind sound when all windows are rolled up.

The push button start and the ability to open the doors and trunk without fumbling for keys is great. The controls on the car were easy to figure out without having to study the owners manual. The adaptive front headlights and bright headlamps make it easy on the eyes when driving at night. The GS 300 is an awesome automobile. I got the black and it looks sharp. It handle well at high speeds and you cannot even tell when you drive 75+ MPH. I would like an lightup display on windshield to monitor speed, but I'll do without. Have the NAV system and will never buy a car without it now. I drive a lot to different places and its like havain and intactive map with you at all time guiding you through the biggest cities turn by turn. She has a nice voice too.. :-) I'm sold on Lexus and bought the correct car. Looked at BMW 5 series, Audi A6 and Mecedes C something. The GS 300/450 beat them all hand down for luxury and ride. The A6 was close though.

Mine is loaded with every option Navigation (easy to use after a couple of times), ML Sound System, Sirius, adaptive headlights (these work great on dark curvy roads!), backup camera, heated/ventilated seats. The value in this car is incredibleconsidering all these features i any of the other cars would be $10-15K more and those cars would not be as reliable (Lexus is the best here!). This car is impressive, roomy, and really fun to drive.

The mark levinson sound system is a great improvement over the 2001-2005 versions of the radio. It is a very classy looking car and gets better gas mileage than the previous gs

This is an incredible car. Its very stylish, everyone makes a comment. Its very quick and responsive. Great fuel economy, much better than I expected. It's fun to just cruise or have some quick fun around the corners!
