This car is not reliable, don't buy it

Unfortunately, since the time I bought this car (end of September 2018) I had many issues with my new Land Rover Velar 2019. First issues were mostly electrical (screen not working, error messages while being stopped at a red light, back camera not working, etc. I took the car in two opportunities and they explained these cars usually need software updates. I thought I should not waste my time taking the car to the dealer but did it…. I also had a weird noise with the breaks. They had to change them. Then I had to take the car for the Annual Service. They checked everything and in less than a month, my engine light was on! Took the car AGAIN and they said it was another engine software (not sure why no one update this when I took the car for my annual service?). But after taking the car 2 times, in less than a month my engine light went on AGAIN!! I was so upset and frustrated. The dealer suggested me that I contact Land Rover Customer Service for a Re-Purchase, as it’s obvious to me I have a defective car… After talking to someone for 38 minutes, she asked me many questions about my car, even if I have already paid for the car which we did, she simply said my case didn’t apply for re-purchase. She didn’t explain why or what was the criteria. Her only “solution” was for me to keep taking my car to the dealer. What type of solution is this? I asked to talk to her supervisor. She said he would call in the next 5 hours which he didn’t. He called passed the 5 hours and left a message saying I should follow this with the customer service representative, like ignoring my request of talking to him…. I’m EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED WITH LAND ROVER CUSTOMER SERVICE. My advice is: if you want a car that works and is reliable, PLEASE don’t buy this car, it’s gorgeous but it’s not reliable and customer service will not help you at all. They will just send you to the dealer and you will waste your time and money taking the car for service many times.

Worst vehicle I have ever owned!!!!! DON'T BUY IT!

My 2019 Velar R has been plagued with issues from the day I drove it off the lot. It was in service the next day! The infotanement system which is also the heating, air, defrost controls is plagued with issues. Many times it goes completely black. You have to shut the vehicle off to get it to reboot. This also happens when driving & the interface with Apple I-phone is terrible. They say you need a Apple cord. It does not help. It is distracting when driving because it takes your attention off the road putting you in danger of an accident. Transmission problems on-going from date of purchase. The worst...I put it in park and was behind the vehicle, it shifted into reverse and almost ran us over. I had to rush into the vehicle and shift it back into park and shut the vehicle off. The the transmission knob flashes yellow and you cannot get the vehicle to go over 30 mph. When you applly the gas it slows way down... one of these times it was a fuel pump. Other times when the vehicle shuts off when you stop it will not go back into gear. When i'm at a stop light I have to shut the vehicle off and restart to get it to go into gear. This has happened constatntly since the day I got it. NOT FIXED! Then there is the issue with coolant fan revving constantly. I have had it in for this everytime when I took it in for other issues. Over a year into the lease it had a recall for this but is now doiing it again! The lane change assist, when on a curved fwy tries very hard to push you into the other lane because it does not know the road is curved. It is a fight to keep the vehicle in the lane. tailgate foot swipe to open does not work 80% of the time! The Turbo lag is the worst of any car I have ever driven! Terrible engine! The Land Rover Discovery has better pick-up than the Velar. I have 15,000 miles on the vehicle and it has been in for service probably 25 times! I have asked Land Rover ot buy the vehicle back. They say it doesn't qualify. I am filing a "Lemon Law" case againt Land Rover/Range Rover. Biggest issue is it is extremely unsafe!!!

If your looking for a mid size luxury SUV then you should at least consider the Range Rover Velar. This is my first Land Rover and I'm quite impressed with the quality and workmanship of this vehicle. Although they don't come cheap, I think that you will find the technology very rewarding and enjoyable. The ride is wonderful and the 2.0 liter turbo is very responsive and provides very good fuel economy. The age old concern is Land Rover reliability but I'll hope for the best in a second year model and cross that bridge when it comes but for now I'm very impressed with my Range Rover Velar. Update to my first review still finds my Velar with no issues. The car continues to be a fun car to drive and even more so now that I’ve had time to figure out more of the technological features. Great vehicle and very satisfied with my purchase. Update to my purchase- After 15,000 miles my vehicle is still a joy to drive. No buyers remorse at all. Update after 2 years of ownership- had an issue with the excessive fan noise relating to the cooling system but that was corrected under warranty. Other than that everything has worked as designed and the cat still looks like it could be sold as new. Very well built vehicle with quality materials. Update of review after 36,000 miles has the vehicle still in like new condition but have experienced continuous problems pertaining to the cooling systems. Local dealership is very slow to correct problems under warranty which is very annoying. The battery died way before it should have and it is a battery replacement that is under warranty but can only come from Land Rover which is also very annoying. I would applaud the Velar as a wonderful driving SUV with quality workmanship but expect to make return trips to the dealership for issues with reliability.

Brought the 2019 version, been at dealer shop 3 times already. I can only said advance design with lots of pre-mature technology.

WORST CAR & CUSTOMER SERVICE - BUYER BEWARE

Bought this car October 2018, the problems began within a year. Most of the issues are electronic - screen, fan, error messages, etc. The latest issue was when I took the car in for a "Check-Engine" light on issue. It has been in the Jaguar Land Rover Charlotte shop for FIVE months, and they cannot fix the Check Engine light. Finally, I was told that just live with it and only bring it in if it "FLASHES". I am very disappointed with the JLR organization and JLR Charlotte - worst service ever. Please do yourself a favor look elsewhere. There are better vehicles and service providers.

My husband and I were taking a trip from Texas to Florida on vacation on Sept 2, 2021. At 5 p.m. on a state road in Mississippi a large deer jumped over a bridge rail and ran in front of us; we were going the speed limit which was 65 mile per hour. Our Velar handled well, but the impact damaged the radiator. We sat on the side of the road over 2 hours (it was turning dark)--finally Road Side assistance called us and told us that no one was coming. We found out later they did not have a contract in that area--we were about 60 miles from Mobile. They would not pay anyone in that area to come and get us--instead they let us be stranded. There were no rental cars available in a 2 state area-- we were stranded and had to call the police. The tow truck got there about 8:30 pm and took us to the closest small hotel. Someone had to drive 7 hours to get us. This was not the worst part. It is now September 7, 2022 and I still do not have my vehicle back. I have filed with the Better Business Bureau, Texas State Attorney General, looked into state lemon laws through a lawyer and contacted Landrover Corporate last spring. My latest update on September 6th from LandRover corporate was Landrover has no idea when my parts will be available. My advisor at the body shop which is a LandRover approved shop (if there is aluminum damage like mine had you have to have the work done at one of these shops--there is one every 3-4 hours from each other in my area). Mine has several LandRovers that have been there 15 months or more. I have no idea when I will get my vehicle back but I have paid over $14,000 for a vehicle I do not have. LandRover does not tell you if you get in an accident (which was not our fault) that it has to go to a LandRover insured shop---many insurance companies will not pay for it to be towed that far since the shops are spread out through the US. Mine luckily did pay for it but I had to fight it. In addition, they do not tell you if you get in an accident you will not have your car for over a year. The excuse has been COVID but it is two years later. My point is if you cannot provide parts for a vehicle in a reasonable amount of time, then it is unethical to sell them. One thing I heard was if you can afford a LandRover you can afford to pay $14,0000 for nothing. That is not the case--LandRover does have entry level vehicles. DO NOT BUY a LANDROVER! Getting parts for them has always been very difficult but this is ludicrous. Realize if you buy one you may be without a vehicle a year or more and have to buy another vehicle while you are paying on one you do not have. UPDATE. We got it back after 18 months. Both batteries died. The large one had to be replaced but the small one could not be….it is on back order indefinitely. From sitting so long something happened to the rear brake light so it had to be replaced while we were waiting. Thank heavens they had that part. We brought it back home. The LandRover dealership would not buy it back after this whole debacle. We sold it on Carvana and had to pay $1300 to get out of it because even though it had less than 20;000 miles, it was now two model years older than when the accident occurred. Worse consumer experience ever. Land Rover does not care about its customers. Overall we lost $22,000 Paying for something we did not have and we had to buy another vehicle and have three car payments.

I purchased a 2019 Velar with the P380 V-6 engine in December 2018. I absolutely love this SUV. I did have one minor software glitch that was fixed by a software update.

They can't fix the problems, no matter how many times it goes back to them! Fabulous looking car but anything electronic (which is everything) doesn't work. Stay away from this brand. Finally out of my lease.... hallelujah!

We have owned our 2019 Velar for a year-and-a-half only has about 15,000 miles. It's been in the shop seven or eight times. For updates a failed water pump at 2,000 miles at 15,000 miles a failed Hub and bearing in the front and Numerous issues with updates I had always heard Range Rovers were beautiful but a disaster to own wow did we learn our lesson . I will never own another one of these products again.

If your looking for a vehicle that is full of innovative technology, luxurious finish, cloud feeling comfort yet with support that your orthopedic would likely appreciate and approve. The supercharged, 6 Cylinder Engine can hit 0 to 60 in less time than it took for me to type this sentence. The adjustable air suspension is amazing, especially when loading items in the cargo area or to let your family member in the vehicle who benefits from a lowered overall height. This is by far the most beautiful, luxurious, sleek yet fast vehicle I have owned. If your on the fence, I say go for it. The r dynamic HSE model will not disappoint!

I currently own a 2017 supercharged Jaguar XF. I received a velar as a loaner today while my Jaguar is in for service and I have to say the car is so amazing that I had to write a review for it. Yes, the car is expensive but I have to say it is comparable with BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. The interior is attention to detail and the technology has improved drastically. I have a $65,000 Jaguar and I was kind of disappointed that the interior wasn’t as great as BMW(my previous car) but I still love my Jaguar because Jaguar Land Rover drive is above and beyond with the handling and responsiveness. For those looking for a new SUV, you have to give the velar a try. It may not be reliable but neither are other German cars lol. This is truly an amazing car and the depreciation on land rovers are a lot better than German cars as well!!

This vehicle will bring a Land Rover Luxury SUV within reach of most SUV customers. Comparable to Audi and Mercedes without the pain of expensive maintenance.

We love over 2019 Velar P340. We have had no problems to date. Seems like the other reviews are for soft wear glitches that have finally been updated. Jaguar owns Land Rover they are not junk vehicles.
