Car was a rental while on vacation and fell in love with it. Easy to get in and out of and handled like a dream. Gas mileage was good and car was very quiet. Glad I got a chance to drive it and would definitely consider buying.

This is a really great car for the price point. Remember that this is an entry level economy car. Keeping that criteria in mind and you will not find a better value considering the 10 year warranty. No other manufacturer is standing by that long to keep your car running tops. The one issue I have found is that the fuel mileage is not as good as it should be for a 1.6L 4cyl. Mine is the 6 speed automatic and I average 27-30 mpg with a mix of driving. If you drive really easy and with great care, you can get the average up to 30-33 mpg. That is a lot less than is shown on the sticker. I can still say that it is very nice car for running around town and will hold quite a bit of storage when the seats are folded down. No regrets on this little car so far. I have 40k on it and it is still going great.

No lumbar support and the headrest are leaning forward and are quite annoying and uncomfortable. Otherwise, roomy, easy to get in and out of, ect... Rides well and we are happy so far. It has only been a few weeks, so far so GREAT! March 2018.... Still digging our SOUL!

SOUL POWER

2017 Kia Soul ! 4dr Wagon (1.6L 4cyl Turbo 7AM)

Pleasantly surprised with this little hatch back suv. Traded in my 2004 Dodge Ram ( which I’ll miss but not the fuel mpg ) for the 2017 Kia soul with everything in it. panoramic sunroof. heated seats, heated steering wheel, navigation back, up camera, Harmon Kardon sound( Awesome). this little thing is quick and torquey with its turbo! and spacious ( I’m 6,2 and fit extremely comfortable in it. It’s also great on fuel ( not sure why others complain about fuel economy try fueling a Dodge Ram. Lol) long story short, I find the Kia Soul fun, exciting to drive and cool. Kia has done a wonderful job. Plus I can still get a hitch and light trailer and haul my motorcycles when I need to. Tiny car with big SOUL POWER!!!!

Blown engine at 69,000 miles

Until October of 2020 the only complaint I had was it was bad to hydroplane. That changed within an hour. Driving along I hear a ticking sound. No lights came on, no pressure problems. We pull over to check things out and no oil.. we religiously do oil changes and there was no need to question the souls quality. We put in oil and half an hour later our car went from being worth around $11,000 to $500. The best part is, the warranty was for 60,000 miles. The mileage it had was just over 69,000 miles. Come to find out this is common..! Apparently there is manufacturing debris (FOD) that gets caught in the oil line and clogs so by the time you hear anything it’s too late. Your engine has been starved. Long story short (hefty loan still owed, bank approvals, no options) I’m stuck with another Kia I do not trust. Please do your research before committing to pouring your hard earned money into a Kia Soul. I’m currently worried about any Kia at this point.

Nice car. Decent acceleration with the 2.0, which doesnt consume oil. Panoramic sunroof, infinity audio, and heated/cooled seats are really nice for entry level car, especially when getting the options on a used car. Better fuel economy than expected, especially when driving 35-50 mph. Cons include noise at interstate speeds, ride a little rough on bumps, speakers could be fuller at bass end, and high depreciation rate. As an aside, I was unimpressed with a 2020 soul with turbo on test drive. Didn't like the auto trans. Also didn't like that power rating for the 2.0 engine dropped significantly for 2020. Would buy another Soul in future, if used, low miles, pre 2020, and in warranty. 10/22/2020 Update Still running strong. Had to replace two wheel sensors under warranty. Faulty sensor did once cause vehicle to slow to a crawl in a turn, which was alarming. Otherwise, am still happy.

Great value and fun in a quirky way

I drove a brand new Mini Countryman All4 S - fully loaded - a courtesy vehicle for my Mini Cooper Convertible. Shortly after I test drove the Kia Soul and thought the Kia was equal in so many ways to a car that listed for almost double the price! The quality of the Kia is outstanding and if the reports of reliability are true, the anticipated repairs and headaches will be minimal. The passive/active safety features are amazing. Blind spot detection, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control are all first rate and easy to use. Instrumentation is clean and logical - easy to use and not intimidating. Apple Car Play is fabulous! The full front to back sunroof is a joy. Ride comfort is solid, incredibly quiet and road feel is perfect. LED lighting provides clarity better than I've ever experienced. Performance is adequate and in sport mode better than average. Gas mileage is a bit disappointing for a car of this size and the range could be better (small tank). Overall, this is a great value and a quirky look that's fun. Definitely a design you either love or hate.

Like it, but don't love it

I have had this car for two weeks. I mostly like it, but it is frustrating in two respects. First of all, all the reviews complaining about gas mileage are true. I was expecting it, but I am a bit shocked by how bad it is compared to the EPA estimates of 25/27/30. I'm not getting anything close to that. I got gas this afternoon (7/11/20) and for the previous tank I had gotten 22.47 miles per gallon in mixed driving. My commute is about 60% interstate, though adding in other driving around town, it probably works out to 50/50 interstate and city driving. While that is frustrating to me, it's much better than the ~15.5 I was getting in the 2003 Honda Pilot I had previously. The second thing that bugs me is the get up and go is a bit lacking. I realize it's a 4 cylinder, so I'm not expecting something amazing. But there are times coming from a red light or stop sign that it doesn't seem to shift gears and get going. Most of the time it's not bad, sometimes it lags badly though. Also, living in the hills of north Georgia is a bit annoying, it can lag a bit going up hills. In general it drives well. Seems to be pretty quiet. The interior is nothing special, but I it's decent. Still looks new even though it's 3 1/2 years old. I like the stereo, and I'm loving finally having a rearview camera. The cargo area is small, especially compared to the Pilot that I had, which of course was about two feet longer. I like the cool tray under the cargo area and above the spare tire well. Divided into thirds, probably six inches deep. That's a pretty cool idea, good for keeping things such as window cleaner, Rain-X, etc. Overall I enjoy the car. It's nothing fancy, and the gas mileage is a bit ridiculous for a small car like this, but overall it's a good car. Definitely a good car for someone with limited funds. Update: 14 Jan 21-- I'm still liking the car, but the gas mileage still drives me nuts. I get under 22 mpg on some tanks. However on long highway trips I get around 29, so not too bad. One other annoying thing that the panic button is entirely too easy to push when it's in my pocket. It shouldn't be that easy to press when I lean the wrong way. But overall, I still like the car.

had a 2012 soul and traded in for a 2017 model. Not many changes between the years, except 2017 does not come with a cd player standard. Still no spare tire. new car has the nitrogen filled tires. I like the car for the handling, and overall comfort. but its overpriced.
