Continues to get better. Simply really good.
I began leasing the Sorento back in 2014 out of simply wanting to find the best lease value I could in this size category of crossover. At the time it was honestly an unexpected surprise. Not just for the comparative lease deal but was an outright nice vehicle in looks, comfort, convenience, quality and performance. Well, being so happy with the vehicle that first time we continued with the next lease (a 2017) and again found that same very satisfactory feeling about everything. Fast forward and just now leased the 2020. I did seriously consider and also looked elsewhere this time around. In the end it again came down to what is simply a really nice vehicle and what your getting for your buck. Do not mistake that at all to mean I am settling for the Sorento. Because truth is, its simply a very well made, attractive (in and out) vehicle with a great ride comfort and performance. From one to the next lease Ive had (now 3) it has increased a bit with ride quality each the model years Ive had and this latest is the best yet. The V6 has always been and is still more than capable and that is being said from one (myself) who lives on the spirited side with my driving habits. Four grown adults and fully loaded with luggage and no issue at all passing and accelerating on mountainous highways. Certainly not the most powerful engine but extremely capable. The ride quality continues to improve. It was always real good in my opinion. But this latest year (2020) version is even quieter and smoother than the last two ive had. Turns real well with minimal roll and responsive steering in addition to the quietness. There is a definite high end feel to the overall comfort and ride while in a Sorento. It may not be the best nor excel greatly at any one thing over other given vehicles but it does really well everywhere and exceeds expectations. There is nothing at all negative. Its all good, very good.

- 2020 sorento
this is my second kia sorento I had 2017, some reviews I have read seem that they are downgrading this vehicle a bit, kia has taken some standard equip. out of the ex trim (passenger pwr seat, cd player, rear sunshades etc) however they added a lot of safety features like lane keeper adaptive cruise 19" wheels, rear power liftgate 8-speed transmission and the ***** safety rating. my take on this vehicle is kia slid this car back a little you don't take out the passenger power seat and rear sunshades. I can get past the removal of the cd player everyone pretty much streams there music these days, however I am not impressed with the 8-speed transmission it affects the acceleration on this suv, they should have synchronize the gear shifts a little better. I still like this vehicle, the ride is very comfortable and handling is competent as is the interior comfort and safety features also decent mpg, this vehicle gives a lot for the money. I will have to see were the next three years of driving this vehicle and all the new safety equipment and its reliability works as it should... kia should not had swapped out good standard features then add more features and sell the ones you want on the higher trim. but I would still recommend it because what works on this vehicle is its the right size it will fit many familys

UPGRADED MY 2009
I traded in my 2009 Sorento LX on a new 2020 Sorento S because of the incentives Kia was offering. I love the options on this trim level but wish remote start was included . For that I would have to go up to the EX trim level. The first reason for buying mine was of course the warranty, which blows all the other manufacturers out of the water . Secondly, it has the same horsepower as the Telluride and is 10K cheaper. Lastly is the roominess, being 6'4" and weighing in close to 300lbs, it fit very comfortably behind the wheel of this SUV.

i couldn't ask for more -
I started researching the sorento one year ago. many reviews faulted the sorento for being fuel thirsty, heavy and under powered. I purchased it on the spot and have not regretted it. the v6 has more power than I need. the rear most seats are there if and when I need them. it has more tech than I know what to do with. it rides and handles better than the competition and it is QUIET. I can drive all day and never get tired. what more can you ask for?

Best small three row SUV
First thing I want to say is that the 2.4L is quite fast. Soon as you take your foot of the brake and hit the gas, you’re already going with the flow of traffic. That’s how responsive the throttle is, and the transmission. My parents got this SUV yesterday because we needed a bigger SUV that can accommodate us. Now I really love that the car has apple CarPlay and android auto on a base level trim!!! The gas mileage is wonderful, we drove the car almost all day and still have a quarter to full still left in the tank (true gas saver). Now the 3rd row isn’t strictly for kids. I’m 5’5 and I can fit back there and had no complaints. You can always adjust the 2nd row seats to have more leg room.

Love the quality
alot of reviews say lack of power i do not notice that what so ever it has plenty of power. When it comes to ride it has everything that a high price SUV has. The warranty is beyond worth the purchase. Ive had many Kia"s now and two Hyundai Sante Fe and I will buy nothing else!

Maybe I got a lemon?
Let's start with the engine issue. My Sorento is burning oil like crazy... at 38k miles... I bought it new I've been having trouble with it buring oil since day 1. I've been told that's just how this engine is, so live with it. Eh, my 12 year old grand marquis with 200k miles doesn't burn oil. Why should my brand new Sorento? Turns out there is now a big class action lawsuit agaist kia and hyundai for this specific issue, which makes me feel better after 2 years of the dealership telling me it's nothing. Im sure itll make some lawyers rich and we sorento owners will get nothing for it, but at least its validation, right? To make matters worse with the oil, is that they use some new oil filter that most of the oil change places don't carry and not all of the ones that do carry it, know how to install it correctly. I live in one of the largest cities in the US, so this isn't just some small town issue. The sunroof keeps sticking. I've already had to do a warranty repair for a defective cv axle. It took the dealership 3 months to find the part and 3 more months for them to get around to installing it. Yaay, I have a car with a solid warranty that will sit in the shop half the year... But at least I don't have to pay for the part. The transmission is really clunky. Shifts are hard, when they finally happen. This isn't an issue if you live somewhere cold but the adhesives and materials used in the car don't take heat too well. For example, the faux leather on the gear selector is delaminating. The ac will get the car coolish after an hour in the summer. The engine mode selector will not default to sport mode, which is mildly annoying. It will only default to eco (which really kills the engine power) or comfort (which makes the car drive all gooshy and sloppy). So you have to cycle through the engine modes every single time you turn the car on, if you want it to drive like it has an engine. I just leave it in eco though. The differential lock is in a terrible place. I keep bumping it. Oh one simple thing to make this crap heap decent is the stock tires are absolute garbage. Get some nice tires on the thing and it will drive sooo much better. The electronics are good though, I love the infotainment center, the safety features, and the dash layout is perfect. I love the styling (on the 2020, the new ones are about as styled as a pig) and the layout of the sorento. Great cargo space. Nice towing capacity. With good tires and in sport mode, it is really fun to drive. I really want to love the car, I just can't get past the build quality and the fact that I'm now just waiting for the engine to inevitably explode...

EX V6 AWD offers a "sweet spot"
For the right drivers, this model is an optimal balance of driveability, features, warranty and price. We purchased a 2013 Sorento EX V6 AWD and have love, love, loved it. We got a "rare" 2-row model, which provides lots of storage for required equipment: emergency lights, winter chains, small vac, etc. I've been a "NISMO" die-hard because of how driveable my prior Nissan/Infiniti vehicles were. But the 2013 Murano was a slug and over-styled. I was sold on the first test-drive of the 2013 Sorento. With 100,000 Kia, we've had zero problems. We were going to buy a 2022 (second year of the new generation), but the V6 is being dropped in 2021! Bummer! So we jumped on great incentives for a new 2020 ($7,500 under MSRP, out-the-door). It's a fine car, with a number of upgrades, especially safety features. But ... the 2020 is a step down in driveability. The assisted steering is actually pretty poor; frequent moments when the generated "feedback" is wrong for what's happening. The 8-speed transmission isn't tuned right for transition from level to steep uphill. Choosing the "Sport" Driving Mode helps. OTOH, I don't get the "underpowered" reviews because when you press the peddle to pass, it goes fast. The loss of storage with the mandatory third seat is a negative for us (no kids), and the 19-inch rims are, as well. Just more expensive tires, and I'm of the opinion that 18-inch wheels are the optimal size for performance and handling. (Immediately after we bought the Kia, we traded in the cheap tires and put Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV tires on because we drive in winter conditions.) I'll buy 18-inch rims with top-end "summer" tires later so we can swap seasonally. We normally but new, maintain religiously, and buy again in 10 years. Looking at what else is out there in the "low-30's" price range, I didn't really see any alterative that would have suited us better.

2020 AWD V6 S. Bought in Santa Rosa Ca.
I drove A Nissan Rogue, a Mazda CX-9, A VW Tiguan and an Atlas. No Honda, Chevy, Ford, Acura ,Or Jeep. The Kia has power, is very comfortable to sit in and operate. Good visibility. Looks great, and the dash is super easy to use. I bought the extended warranty, and the clear coat . It's my first car that's not a Honda, so lets hope it's as trouble free.

The best deal for what you get.
I used to have a 2017 Kia Sorento LX with the 2.4L engine. Traded it in for a Subaru Outback and only held onto the Outback for a little over a year before I found myself back at a Kia dealership purchasing a 2020 Kia Sorento EX V6. I missed my first Sorento so much that I came crawling back. My 2020 Sorento has many more options compared to my 2017. “Leather”, panoramic sunroof, lane keep assist, V6, standard 3rd row (had to pay an additional $2500 back in the day for a package for get the third row on my 2017). While the 2020 Kia Sorento might not be the most luxurious vehicle on the road for the price it’s really hard to beat.

Love my Kia Sorento SX!!
First of all I have to say that my Kia is so roomy and comfortable to the Max .. the technology in this car is amazing, it has everything and more!! The drive is smooth ( I keep my mode in comfort ) and that’s what the Sorento SX delivers for sure! I love the panoramic roof, so gorgeous!! There are no negatives to say about this vehicle, it really is all that;) I also had the very best experience at Ourisman Chantilly Kia, those great folks went out of their way to put it all together for me, from start to finish.. amazing service from exceptional professionals.

Not like it used to be and it isn't good
This car has many changes and none of them good. This is my third Sorento in 10 years and this one is by far the worst for acceleration, cavern comfort, noise with windows down, infotainment, and other interior details. It also is wider, longer, and heavier it seems. It's almost like a minivan. Previous Sorrento's were perfect size and agility, this one is now a dog. I would not buy it again, and doesn't matter a fact I'm about to return it because I dislike it that much.

2020 Sorento- Better than the newer ones
I only owned this car for 1 year, but it was great during the time I had it. I had the EX model with all the bells and whistles. The only feature it lacked was AWD. It was a pretty dark blue, had the stone-colored leather seats, 3rd row, and panoramic sunroof. It was great in so many ways. I only had one complaint, and that was the transmission. In the efforts of making more fuel efficiency, you've probably noticed most manufacturers, if not switching to the dreadful CVT, are at least adding more gears to their auto transmissions. This Sorento had an 8 speed auto transmission. This is the only thing that drove me nuts. It LOVED to shift as early as possible (again, in the name of "fuel efficiency"), and it HATED to downshift when I needed it to. I would try to coax it reasonably with the accelerator, and it would pretty much ignore me and refuse to downshift. Finally, once I got fed up, I would slam it to the floor, at which point it would roar and not only downshift but would drop at least 3 gears, which was more than I was wanting. Other than this issue with the transmission, it was a perfect car. Very comfortable, fairly fuel efficient, and looked good. The panoramic sunroof was great, the seats were pretty comfortable, and it was roomy enough, especially with the 3rd row folded flat. Like other cars with 3 rows, the 3rd row wasn't perfect for adults on long trips, but it wasn't as bad as some people say if you position the front 2 rows wisely. It can be done where everyone is comfortable. Folks just like to complain. It really was a great car. I just hated that 8-speed transmission. That being said, that engine was a beast. Most people look and think, it's a family hauler, not much fun, but if you laid into that engine, you could really blow people away with the 290hp. It would fly if you needed it to and was great for passing on the interstate or a 2-lane highway. It's a shame they dropped the V6 in the 2021 and newer models. They say they have plenty of power with the turbo 4-cylinders, but I've already heard a lot of stories of problems with the dual-clutch transmission. I've heard Kia is obviously taking care of the issues under warranty, but it still sounds like a pain having to have a fairly new vehicle in the shop so soon. Overall, I give the 2020 version a high rating, if you can get used to the shifting issues with the 8-speed auto trans.

Dealer doesn’t provide loaner
Our 2020 Sorento has been in the shop a number of times over the past couple years for an ongoing issue with the sunroof. The last time they told us it would be at least a month for repairs, but they refuse to provide a loaner vehicle during that period. Will not consider Kia in the future.

Love this car! Best purchase yet!!
This car is great! It meets just about every expectation I expected. Kia is truly moving up in my eyes. The ride is comfy, It handles well, it surprisingly had some giddy up for highway and freeway passing. Looks nice, fits up to 7 passengers but the back seat is really for little guys. You could sit an adult back there but they might not be to comfy for a distance ride. You do lose a lot of trunk space if utilizing the 7 seats. The only big complaint I would have is the basic seat adjustments for the driver seat. If you don't have electric seats, the hydraulic that lifts the seat always tends to slowly release the seat back down in time, so the seat has to be pumped back up every now and then. I had the same issue with my older Kia Spectra. I wish they'd find a better system for that. The cooling to the back seats are a little insufficient. Other than that, our family loves this car. It's been really good to us. I'd definately recommend this vehicle to others and would continue buying with Kia. Our next buy would be their Telluride. You can't beat their bumper to bumper warranty. Great vehicle with good power. Very reliable and high safety ratings!!

Passenger seat height
The passenger seat is so low I can barely see over the dash, And the sun visor does no good when you’re sitting so low. I’m only 122 lbs. -5’1”. Should have an adjustment to raise it.

Major Engine Issues after 100K!
I LOVED my 2020 Sorento, until I reached 100,000 miles. In the last year I had two major issues: Front Wheel Bearing had to be replaced, which was annoying, but bearable. But the big issue is the Oil Pressure valve was faulty, which resulted in losing all engine oil, no check engine lights or oil pressure lights ever came on, engine seized, and now a five year old car that's supposed to get 200-300k miles if you just do regular maintenance is useless. Kia denies it's a problem (despite it being a problem on other models like the Soul). Disappointing, because I was just becoming a KIA lifer (Sorento or Telluride). But now, I won't ever own another Kia.
