New 2017 Sorrento
Third row carpet seam is easily visible and staples show even around the carpet mat. 2nd row would be better with captain chairs. There is not a lot of space to get into the back row seats.

Excellent vehicle!
Test drove the Highlander due to it being a favorite of Consumer Reports and other publications. Did not care for the harsh suspension in itotthe Forerunner. As a long time Toyota owner, I now consider them overpriced compared to the Sorento. The Sorento handles extremely well and is very comfortable. It does take some getting used to the somewhat notch feeling in the steering at highway speeds. Plenty of room to haul all my sports toys and with Blizzack snow tires it’s had no problems handling Michigan snow. Test drive the Sorento and you may agree with my five star rating.

Boy I love this vehicle, alot for the money
1st off, this is the first Kia I have owned. With that I must say that this has to be one of the best vehicles I have owned. Rides smooth as silk and is very reliable. I purchased mine used with about 50K on it but it feels like a new car every time I get in it. The only thing that takes a bit of getting used to I's going from high to low beam and vice versa. You have to index it from center to change beams. Has been a great around the town vehicle and also on the long trips. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mid sized SUV....
Great for Me, Not for Everyone
My LX is great for me, a retiree in fair to poor health driving 5K miles a year. My configuration is a little underpowered, 24.4 mpg mixed driving, large cargo area, smooth ride, just enough options and conveniences. Any deficiencies are minor in my circumstances. We do plan to travel some in it, even though we have a better vehicle (2019 Honda CR-V EX-L). The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (non turbo) has better acceleration.

1st new car in 20 years
Make sure they are happy with a slightly smaller 3 row SUV. It is driving great. Only minor issue is that a side view mirror popped out when I was folding it in. I was able to easily replace it. It doesn't pop out if I'm careful when I fold it in and make sure not to touch the mirror itself. Still driving great. No problems and surprisingly good gas mileage on the highway when I keep the tires optimally inflated.

Two at a Time
Love the new 2017 Sorento. We now own two Sorentos and have been thoroughly pleases. The 1st one's features and dependability is the reason we purchased the 2nd one. Would recommend this vehicle highly.

Inferior Interior Materials (Dash, Doors)...
The 2017 Sorento L has a very nice, comfortable ride. That said....I would not recommend this vehicle soley based on the inside interior materials used. While at my local Kia dealership today, I brought to their attention that the interior materials used, scratch and produce white scuff marks all over the doors, dashboard, around knobs etc. With the slightest touch, it scratches and makes unsightly white scuff marks/scratches. When I spoke with Kia, they stated the materials used, are "MADE TO DO THIS" (Kia's exact words) !! A $40,000+ vehicle, and you intentionally produce materials that are "made to do this" (scratch and produce white smudges and scratches?). Kia suggested I purchase Meguiere's wipes and use that to clean the scuff marks and scratches. That is their suggestion to an inferior material? Kia also suggested that I go to the sales floor and find a salesman and "TRADE" in my car for another one! I am disgusted with Kia's lack of customer service and or remedy for this issue. This is my first, and my last, Kia purchase. Terrible Customer Service!

Best SUV I've owned. Are you listening Ford?
We switched from a Toyota FJ Cruiser to the Sorento for financial reasons. I loved our FJ although the $500 monthly price tag and fuel cost was weighing us down. She dragged me to the Kia dealership to test drive a Sorento. She wanted the turbo four cylinder citing it was miserly on gas. I was quite skeptical until I got in the car. It was a Pearl White with black leather interior and sporty wheels. But I was taken aback by the performance and handling. Fast forward one year and I really like this SUV. Driving into Virginia we usually get around 38 miles to the gallon, WOW! The car handles quite well, looks great, has power to spare on tap and sips gas. This was a fantastic deal. Oh yeah the Ford comment. We had a Ford Expedition before the Toyota FJ. The engine started popping spark plugs two months after we'd made the last payment. The Kia Sorento? Keeps running and running while we save gas money. When this lease is up we are getting another Kia Sorento. I'd like to say it again... are you listening Ford?

Love my car
A KIA had not been on my radar screen, but I was very impressed with the Sorento's look, feel, and handling. Additionally, I liked the 10 year warranty. I only have 650 miles on the car, but I have enjoyed the ride and enjoy the added features this car comes with.

Engine issues
The 2.4 L engine specifically for this year has multiple recalls. Our original motor died in traffic. Was under warranty, and we recieved a new factory motor from the dealer, and that burned out after 2 years with regular oil changes. don't buy this year if possible. Edmonds should downgrade the reliability number on this year/model...
Reliable and a good family car
Besiding the regular maintenance services (oil changes, tire rotation, and airfilters), I was never experienced any issue with the car. Only complaining is that the break rotors are getting rust easily (rust will show up if I'm not touching the car for a week or so)

Driving in the dark - not on purpose
I have owned and leased many cars without problems but, fair warning - I leased a 2017 Sorento to accommodate my family size and it turned out to be a nightmare. I ended up paying for brakes, tires and turned in the car with 12,000 plus miles less than my 15k per year contract. During the 3.5 years that I had the car serviced, I reported on a number of occasions that the steering column would vibrate and felt loose which made me feel unsafe to drive the car during my last year. The car was checked on at least two occasions and I was told nothing could be found. On an even more frightening note, I told the dealer at least three to four times that my lights would randomly turn off. I explained that it happened while driving with my children, a few times as we were tuning off the highway at night and even when we would turn into our driveway and could clearly see the lights turn off and I would have to manually turn them back on while driving. I took the car in for service and asked that the lights be checked and was told “they could not find anything.” I eventually avoided driving on the highway with my children at night after one night when a truck started flashing its lights at us while we were on the highway at night and the Sorrento’s lights had randomly shut off – a VERY dangerous situation. I again took the car for service to the dealer and explained what was happening. The serviced the car and said they tested the vehicle and ran a computer check and said they “could not find anything.” That model is now known online for it's headlights shutting off randomly. I would NOT recommend a Sorento
2017 KIA sorento
Finally have found out that the Sorento does not have daytime running lights. Very disappointed about that! The mirror on the driver's side of the car can be poorly positioned for a driver 5 ft. 1 inch. It is in the way of the view when making a left hand turn. Otherwise, it is ok, but wouldn't have bought it if we had known it had no running lights. It seems it is such a little thing to add with all the other great features on the car.

Love my KIA
This 2017 KIA replaces my 2012 KIA and is much improved over the 2012. The 2012 is the very first 4 cylinder that I had ever purchased and it exceeded my expectations for performance particularly speed increase. The 2017 is every bit as good if not better.

2017 sorento
its a comfortable car,its weakness,is gear shifting, the engine races and is slow to change when moving off at traffic lights, its city gas milage is bad,11-13 mpg in the city,it gets good on freeway when going over 50 mph, seats are too low so its hard to see,the front and back when parking or overtaking, lucky it has a reverse camera,it was good value in thanksgiving sales,it looks pretty good and is comfortable,if the transmission shifting and seats were higher it would be a great car, after driving many mountins,it cut out once in the middle of the road, another time it would not reverse, but I have not seen that problem appear, the v6 engine might be better, but it would have cost me $5000 extra, the 4 cylander is probably underpowered for the car, they should include a cover for the trunk, and remove the roof rails, they look ugly, road holding is good,i could not get cruise to work, for some reason, its a very good looking car and comfortable to drive,

2017 Kia Sorento
I bought my car brand new. First year my driver mirror had to be replaced. A year and a half later my atomic brake needed to be replaced. As of right now my engine light is on and they are working to find out why. My car has and is still in the kia shop. It’s been in there for 3 months. They gave me a rental which is very nice but it’s not the luxury car I purchased.

Honest Review-Revisited
It says it is a 2019 but actually it is a 2017 Kia Sorrento. 50 months and 39,000 miles later, I still love it . Nothing has needed repair. Nothing. It handles well , it is a comfortable car to drive and it has retained its good looks. The GPS is easy to operate and its plenty roomy for me. I'm thinking this car will go 200,000 miles for me. We'll see. Its a good one.

New purchase and am loving it.
I purchased it from Fette Kia and everything was great. The dealer and sales rep both were very accommodating. I'm very impressed with the Kia brand. they have definitely come a long way. I've always been a Honda fan but decided to give Kia a try because I was getting all the things i wanted the 6cyl - AWD the convenience package for a very good lease. they worked with my budget.

2017 Kia Sorento TOWING TONGUE WEIGHT REDUCTION
NOTE IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING TOWING WITH A 2017 SORENTO --- 2016 Kia Sorento AWD 6-cylinder with tow package: towing capacity 5000 lbs with tongue weight 500 lbs (Owner's Manual p. 5-104). 2017 Kia Sorento AWD 6-cylinder with tow package: towing capacity 5000 lbs with tongue weight 350 lbs (Owner's Manual p. 5-113). Separately, you might also be interested to know that to change the oil it is necessary to first remove a cover plate with 17 bolts before you can access the oil drain plug. Consequently, most will end up hacksawing an access hole in the cover.

Rough ride, uncomfortable, unsafe
The 2017 Sorento is the roughest ride I ever had. (And in a truck driver) how it amplifies each tiny pump or pebble into painful vibrations up the spine is baffling. The seats are uncomfortable and a 30 minute drive feels like it was 3 hours. Even the seatbelts are uncomfortable. The slightest correction of the steering wheel throws passengers side to side but you can t feel it in The driver seat. The slightest breaking even causes passengers to the sit forward and its unnerving to think of the possibilities if not equipped with insanely safe tires in adverse conditions. If you buy this car, know you should update the tires and suspension as to offset the poor handling and rough ride.

Kia baby!
I love the Kia Sorento. It’s very spacious and comfortable!
Smooth ride, great fuel economy, comfortable seats
This is the first SUV I've ever owned. But before buying the 2017 KIA Sorento LX, I test drove the Highlander, Pilot, Rogue, and SanteFe. Out of all of them, the Sorento had the most comfortable seats and seemed to get the best fuel economoy. Even better than Toyota. I also got an aftermarket grille and 4 eyed fog lights for the front fascia to spruce up the looks and it catches a lot of people's attention for standing out. A lot of people are surprised it's a KIA with how nice the interior is and how sporty it looks. Mine handles the bumps in the road well and it drives very smooth on most road surfaces. The backup camera is very wide angled which is helpful to see who is coming down the road when backing out of the driveway. And since I got the LX model with AWD with the 4 cylinder engine, I'm literally averaging 25 city and 31 highway. That's truly amazing for an AWD mid-size SUV. I definitely recommend the Sorento. I racked up a lot of miles in less than a year of owning it and I've had zero issues with it.

OK (so far) but educate yourself before buying one
We have nearly 38k miles so far. It's been reliable (SO FAR!). We purchased this before we understood the reality of the Hyundai/Kia Theta II engine failures/fires/recalls/lawsuits. I own a Hyundai vehicle with a similar Theta II engine that died, and Hyundai did replace that engine for free for me. Overall, we are happy with the purchase. We chose the base trim (FWD 2.4L) with the convenience package with upgraded leather seats and Android Auto. It was a solid value. The 2.4L motor is powerful enough for city driving and pulling out into traffic. However, highway passing takes some planning. It's obvious that Hyundai had to gear the car a bit low to compensate for the 185hp motor, so that really cuts into the fuel efficiency. The electric steering is OK and the ride is fine for a vehicle like this. There is a ton of space in the trunk, including the under-floor storage area. The tether latch for the child safety seats is challenging to snap into place, but the seats did fit OK. Sometimes the driver door latch doesn't pull open cleanly, but the proximity key works great. The sound from the base stereo is passable, but I will say that the Android Auto generally works well. The OEM tires were decent in rain, but terrible in snow, so we fitted some Nokian WRG4s on there. That seemed to help. The car does handle decently for what it is, a midsize SUV. For some reason, I'm constantly adding air to the tires in this car. I also wish that the car had the blind spot monitors standard, because the visibility is only OK out the back. My biggest disappointment (besides the engine recall) is the woeful fuel efficiency. We purchased the front wheel drive version with the most efficient engine, and with no 3rd row seat. Yet, my wife gets only ~18mpg with this thing (albeit with a fair amount of city driving). There are much, much larger SUVs with 100+ more horsepower that somehow do better than that. This thing has direct injection no less. It's just pathetic. If you are seriously considering buying a Sorento, make sure that you fully understand the Theta II engine lawsuit settlement that covers the 2.4 and 2.0T motors. Understand that they must give you a new motor if anything in the short block fails. Don't buy this car until you do your research and fully comprehend what you're getting into. Not only do the motors fail, but many of the replacement engines did catch fire. If you do purchase, follow the EXACT maintenance schedule. Ask the dealer about the lawsuit, and if they play dumb, WALK OUT THE DOOR. If you can stomach this situation, then your reward is a free new engine for the life of the vehicle. Pros: - value - "lifetime" engine warranty (thanks Hyundai/Kia!) - interior design - Android auto works fine - cargo room (when compared to SUVs at this price point) - reliability (so far... ask me again at 100k) - proven 6 speed transmission Cons: - bottom-rung Kia dealer network - poor mpg (~18 mpg). Seeing as we bought the most fuel efficient trim, we expected better than this. - spectre of a failed engine, recalls, lawsuits, and fires that kill the resale value of this car Overall, knowing what I know now, I wish that we'd stretched just a bit and bought a Highlander. We'd come out on top in the long run, due to depreciation, and we wouldn't have a car that everyone knows has a bad engine design.

Great car!!!!!!
I have a 2017 Kia Sorento and it’s by far my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned! I never thought I’d own a Kia but once I sat in this one I had to have it. Dark red leather seats, panoramic sunroof, all the bells and whistles PLUS a third row seat.. although it’s small it folds down flat for extra cargo space and it’s just nice to have incase I need it. 10/10 recommend.

Really disapointed with my 2017 Kia Sorento
Second owner for my 2017 Kia Sorento and my transmission went out with 58,000 miles on it in August of 2022. Still within 5 years, right? Nope, I called to verify and the warranty expired in May. It's based on the purchase date and they stick to that. No coverage. The parts guy at the dealership said "with a car that old" he didn't know how long it would take to get a new transmission and he didn't even know if they made them anymore! A car that old?!? Sheesh! I drove my 2010 Ford Expedition for over 300,000 miles and all I ever had to do was replace the brakes. Update: the engine seized up at 73,000 miles and had to be replaced. At that point I'd paid more in repairs than I did to purchase it initially. What an absolute lemon! I sold it after 3 years and bought a Toyota Rav 4 instead. Love my Rav 4!

Warning Don't buy this vehicle
This Sedona did not come with your safety and comfort in mind. First of all you cannot have the recirculated air on at the same time as your fan. So you have to endure car exhaust fumes if you take any trip. Second which is even worse, the seats are uncomfortable for traveling and there is no remedy for that because you cannot use a cushion or seat cover. If you use a seat cover or a thin pad, no matter how much you weigh it turns off your airbags making your safety at risk. This was not a smart deal. I called Kia to find out how to turn the airbag on at all times. They said you will just have to live with it.

difficult seats sorento 2017
Adjusting the seats is difficult. I did not get the powers seats and found adjusting them is very difficult and hard. You have to pump the drivers seat up to see out. I am 6 foot and still need a seat cushion. My wife, who is 5 foot can not see out the passenger window at all unless she is on 2 pillows as it has no adjustments for height. They are not that comfortable to me.

2nd Kia is holding up
I bought 2017 seater kia Sorento after my accident. It was a no brainer. My first Kia kept me safe in a roll over accident. I got a good deal on 2nd Kia. I do keep forgetting I've got that extra seating. It's MT combo car. Lots of room to haul long items w/third row seat down. My only issue is driver seat sits too close to steering wheel. I'm not a fan of being that close to steering wheel. So far, so good. It's a solid car.

Love it!
Went to dealership to purchase a Chevy equinox realized it’s not roomy enough. I saw the Kia and fell in love with it! Test drove and it and I was sold! Roomy but not too big! Good mid size suv in my opinion! Plus the Kias even new won’t break the bank!
Feels like New at 100,000 miles
Kids almost grown and on thier own in 17'. No need for minivans anymore. Tried out 4 cylinder SUVs . No gettei up,, I really appreciate the 6-cylinder acceleration to of the Soreno keeping my wife safe. We took AWD for granted until it snowed. The Kia plowed right through the 8" of wet snow (not light powder). I dropped off the wife and picked up my son and TRIED to power slide in a empty mall parking lot. We were disappointed for the vehicle stopped instead sliding and swerving like the mini vans did. Should of taken the wife to show her how safe Her SUV is. MPH is great for the size of the truck. 25mph aggressive driving , 28-33 mph chilling. 5 years and no issues. Finally looked at the manual for maintenance at 100,000 miles. We will get 250,000 plus miles out of this investment!!!!

suprise quality
I've owned several SUV's including two X5's. My 2017 Sorento SX is a very capable vehicle, smooth, quiet, and responsive. The X5 may brake stronger, corner harder, but the kia can be fun to drive at quite a brisk pace if needed. It's also loaded with features, heated steering wheel/seats, ventilated seats, adaptive HID headlights, advanced cruise control, and a host of safety features. And the infinity audio system is great. other than oil pressure sensor,(replaced under warranty) I have had no problems in 56k miles.AWD system is another strong point. oil gusler
I love the vehicle itself not the engine issue ... i now have to do a oil consumption test as it drains oil alot, have had to add oil after getting oil change like every 500 miles .
Kia
Like the room on the inside and it's drives and handles really good.
I can't believe this vehicle has a good review
I used sites like this when we decided on buying our 2017 kia sorento. They all said it was a great car. After we bought it, I immediately noticed it burning oil. Looked into it, and there are entire Facebook pages dedicated to engine failure in these vehicles. I immediately got nervous. 4 months later the engine failed. I thought "thats ok, there's a class action lawsuit that says you get a replacement engine". Wrong. The lawsuit on these engines only covers rod bearings. If your engine fails for any of the other shortcomings this engine has, your out of luck. Mine failed due to oil consumption trashing the head, and causing contact with the pistons. When I pulled the intake manifold, it was horrible. For 79k miles, the engine looked like it had 300k + miles. Covered in carbon. Unless you want tear down an engine a few months after purchase, I'd advise everyone avoid kia and hyundai like the plague. They may be cheap for an suv, but they are expensive for a lawn ornament, and thats exactly what you'll end up with.
