My car is 3 weeks old, 450 total miles. It developed a high pitch noise coming from under the car. The dealer has my vehicle already 3 days waiting for some kind of special grease. Just a heads up for everybody thinking of buying a 2011 sorento

I've had my AWD EX w/Limited, Premium and 3rd row seat, for a week now, so far, so good! I promise to post updates every 1000 miles or so. My criteria for a SUV was simple (or so I thought). Get the same or better fuel eff as my 03 Acura TLS (which was trouble free until transmission issues at 125k); 23/27. Only averaging 20 mpg in mixed driving so far, we'll see if it gets better. And, it needed to be made in the US. Easy right? Not so. Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Mitsu, Acura? All overseas. Plus, I loved the monkey sock puppet commercial! Kidding. 60, 000 B2B, 100,000 eng and trans wtty. 4 cyl is a bit noisey on the otside, but not inside. Smartkey, nice leather, upgraded stereo w/nav, try one

I moved up to a Sorento from a mustang. This car is almost as much fun to drive. It is well equipped, stylish and it handles great. If you are looking for a new vehicle you have to test drive the new Sorento. I was not sure I wanted an SUV. I started looking at the Honda Accord but after test driving both i felt more comfortable in the Sorento and love it more each time I drive it.

I have just at 2000 miles on it so far. I drove just about all the other SUVs in this price range, and me and my wife both liked this one the best. I only hope that I will be has happy with it in two years as I am with it so far. I have had many new vehicles, and I am tough to please. The Sorento just simply offered more for my money than anything else out there. Very pleased so far.

Just purchased the new sorento. Looked at CR-V, Equinox, Terrain, and Toyota. These did not have features of the Kia. Nice look and decent ride. 2.4 has a sporty feel with a little rough ride over bumps, but hey this is not a Cadillac. Did not go with AWD due to review on this site. Hopefully it's decent in the snow. Just took a trip to SC and went 1700 miles. Averaged 24 mpg with last tank getting 26 mpg. Hopefully the latter continues. If you're looking for a sporty looking vehicle with great storage and features, give it a test drive. Right now if you're in the market for a new CUV or SUV, you have to give this vehicle a gander. Believe me, I never thought I would ever buy a Kia.

I was looking to replace my 12 year old Jeep. I looked and drove about everything on the market in the crossover class. I liked the loaded standards and the seats for seven people. The AWD goes were you point it. It is quick and fun to drive. The layout is good and the fit and finish is nice. I had the passenger roof light switch is bad but I have had no other problems. I love the back up camera and it really helps. It turns in a small space. The tires seem alright but I can't wait to try better tires. The car is just a joy to drive.

We are Hyundai people and this is our first Kia product. Needed something with room for camping and great gas mileage. I drive 800 miles per week for my job. During the first 3,000 miles this Sorento was getting between 23-24 mpg. I'm now at 9,000 miles and getting 27-28 mpg. The ride felt a little stiff at first but is now feeling settled and I'm enjoying this vehicle very much. I will review again at 20,000 miles and let you know what is happening! Go Kia!

Update on my Sorento. The Sorento has lost a little luster since new. I have yet to experience the common strut noise, however if anyone has a rattle noise coming from driver side roof area, remove the left rear grab handle on roof and see if it goes away. Worked for me. HVAC blower fan bearing is making noise now. Just installed a trailer hitch. With only four bolts, twenty minutes later I was done. Mileage continues to impress as engine breaks in. So far so good, I am starting to wonder if the Borrego would have been a better choice.

I purchased my Kia April 2010. The dealer suggested that we buy the Simonize package, what a mistake that was. When I picked up the car, after being simonized it still had bugs on the mirror and the front of the car. Well it gets worse, the seats were simonized as well, now every time a drop of water gets on the seat, it makes a spot. I have contacted the dealership and trying to get this resolved, so far nothing, but I'm hoping that they will fix this mess. It looks horrible and I'm very dissatisfied with the seat issue. Water stains the seats, body sweat or anything that touches the seats make spots on them.

Well 700 miles on 1st trip on freeways. 19.5 mpg local 30 mpg @60 mph 26 mpg @ 70 mpg with 39 psi tire pressure. Tracking not too good. I blame this on the Kumho tires as I had the same problem with a T&C van when I put Kumho tires on front. A possible bad strut shock on right side that is noisy on around town on little bumps. Dealer could find nothing wrong. Will try another dealer later. Some sharp corners on doors that Kia should sand down before painting. The chrome bezels around instrument cluster, had to put tape to cover them as the sun was blinding when it reflected off them. The red colored information displays are hard to read and should not be able to be adjusted with dimmer

This car has plenty of legroom and headroom for me, 6'-6". Handles very well, although the ride is a little stiff. I bought mine without the third row seats. That gives me a nice cargo area with storage under the floor where I can stow all the miscellaneous stuff that usually ends up scattered all over the car. The six speed transmission is the best automatic transmission I've ever driven and the four cylinder engine has plenty of power. Gas mileage is around 23.5 mpg around town. It's a company car and gets driven lots of short haul trips.

Purchased 2010 Kia LX and it is an impressive vehicle for price. Owned two Hyundai Santa Fe's and compared what Kia offered for money and it was no comparison. Surprised 4 cylinder had similar power to my V6 Santa Fe. I live in hilly area and the 4 climbs as well as old V6. To early to tell is reliability will be as good as Hyundai, but since they are same company I assume it will be comparable. Vehicle drives sporty but feels solid and bigger than my Santa Fe. Will see long term mileage. Got my Sorento Lease for less than my 2007 Santa Fe with no money down. Take a look I'm sure you will be impressed with value for money. Would get a V6 if you tow things.

Great SUV with lots of comfort and room. Got it for a low 19,000! Took it on a 400 mile trip and was thrilled to average 29.2 miles per gallon. I'm getting about 25.5 in the city so I'm very happy. I wanted a comfortable car for family trips that would get good gas mileage and I've found it! I have the 4 cylinder and am fine with the amount of power it has.

Our Sorento has performed well these first 4 months. Like some others, it developed a jolt when starting. Our temporary resolution is to not use the parking break and make sure there is pressure on tranny after stop. The dealership has been responsive thus far, but because it only jolts after engine is hot and sat for 1-4 hours, difficult to diagnose. The car is improving on gas mileage (23 hwy). Except for the tran, performs great- there have been no other issues. I would be interested in others posting regarding transmission issue.

Own a EX V6 FWD with the Premium Package. Interior Fit and Finish are excellent. Exterior in the Titamium Silver is beautiful. Car has been a disappointment though. Many rattles have developed after only 2650 miles on the car. Second and Third row seats are way too tight for adults or teens for that matter. With our 11 month old grandson's car seat in my wife who is 5'9" tall has to have her seat so far up that her knees touch the dash. Climate Control Sensor has gone bad two times. This is the first car I have ever bought that I regret my decision. To think that I traded an very reliable '04 Mountaineer which I loved, but the MPG was a killer.

We wanted a larger SUV (traded an '09 Ford Escape) with AWD. Looked at the Mitsubishi Outlander SE, Suzuki Grand Vitara, Chevy Equinox, and Ford Escape. Feature for dollar the Kia can't be beat. The ride is very good and comfortable. The vehicle is rather roomy and the design is very pleasing with some nice touches. But don't touch that plastic. While it looks expensive with is graining, it's harder than a rock!

I never imagined driving a Kia until I saw the new Sorento. We owned an '07 Yukon Denali, but were looking to downsize since we only have one child and moved back to our home state. The extra huge truck just wasn't a practical car for our family anymore. I loved everything about the Sorento online and couldn't believe the price or safety features, plus the warranty is awesome. I was sold the moment the test drive began! The ride is so smooth and the interior quality is unbelievable for a car that costs less than 30K. The Sorento has almost every option the Denali had and the gas mileage is already making me proud before the engine is even broken in!

Purchased the 2011 Sorento new about six (6) weeks ago. Absolutely no problems to report thus far. Positive reports on interior, exterior, performance and gas mileage. Yes, I had to scotch-guard the seats to prevent water spotting. One question on installing a trailer hitch and running lights. It looks like the lights/electrical connections are already installed even though it didn't come with a trailer hitch. Is that right? Also, how much work/expense to install the running lights? This unit didn't come with that package but I'd like to install the running lights. Thanks.

I have been a long time Toyota purchaser, but decided to jump over to Kia and its warranty. What a pleasant surprise! I was immediately impressed by the power and styling of this vehicle. Lots of gadgets and bang for your buck. Handling is great and it;s real easy to park with the backup camera. My initial impressions exceeded any Toyota I have purchased in the past(including the 4Runner). There was a little "break-in" period. It seemed like there was a little "bouncing/vibrating" coming from the tires. It may have been just me looking for something, but it was completely gone within the first 50 mile of its life. I rated the reliabilty as an 8,since it's brand new and only time will tell.

The only thing I am disappointed in is the fuel economy. It doesn't even get close to what the sticker says. I can see a couple miles less but when you get 8 to 10 miles off, that's a big difference. I based my decision to purchase this SUV because of the fuel economy it was supposed to have.

This is my first Kia vehicle. My last vehicles were a Chevy Cavalier & a Chevy Trail Blazer and I must say I was very hesitant when I decided to go with Kia. But I have been very impressed with my Sorento. I decided to go with Kia for mainly two reasons. First, Kia's warranty is far better than any of their competitors. (10 Year, 100,000 Mile) And second, The Sorento was the only crossover that offer the most features and the highest safety reliability for the buck. I have been very satisfied and I would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who is looking for a great SUV. (looks like a high-end luxury vehicle for a mid-range price)

The gps is *good* could have a few improvements. i suggest this car to anyone as so far its been very reliable.

Why pay for a luxury vehicle when the 2011 Sorento EX provides the same. We love this vehicle. Looked at many SUVs and wanted an Audi Q7 until we drove the Sorento. So it's not a luxury vehicle, but paying half the price to get most of the same features...SOLD. Best warranty out there too. Fully loaded with Nav, Bluetooth, leather, satelite radio, IPOD, USB, hands free, voice recognition, keyless start, V6, 3rd row, double moon roofs, roof rack and comfort beyond most vehicles. All for $3K under dealer invoice.

I went in to decide between a Kia Sorento and the Hyundai Santa FE. I had owned each one so I assumed it would not be hard. Recently owning a C-class Benz an suffering from premium gas and mileage. I had wanted to see what Kia had to offer on the 2011 Sorento and was immediately sold after test drive. The gas and the design in and out satisfied my need. It has been two weeks and heads are still turning. I have never had a 4 cyl and was surprised at the pick up. I am on the highway everyday averaging 55 miles round trip and DC has the worst roads. Will keep consumers updated. So far I am very pleased.

Well, I LOVE my Sorento! Purchased it in March 2010. Have been all over and it has been a GREAT car. Only a few things that I dislike about it. 1). The fuel economy is HORRIBLE! I have a 4 cylinder, but I get 18 in city, and 24 on hwy UGH! Big let down for me. 2). The car ride is very bumpy. Sometimes I am wondering if I am riding on just bare rims. Definitely needs improvement on shock absorbency. 3). Lack of get up and go power. Have to wonder if I am in a power wheel at times haha! Definitely can't jump out in front of anyone. Those are the only things I dislike about my Sorento, other than that I love the car. Great car for great $!

Too new to rate reliability. However we looked at all four wheel and all wheel drive cars and the Kia was by far the best value. We also liked that it was made in the USA. A better overall value than the Subaru Forester. Initial mileage of 21 slightly disappointing as we were getting that from the V-6 in the Buick and this is only a four. Here in Maine, the AWD is essential during the winter months. Time will tell how the Kia will hold up.

Like the vehicle, one thing really "bugs" me. You cannot read any of the computer readouts, mileage, gas used, averages, etc.. during day time. Figures are in dark red on a black background impossible for anyone to read.I would spend a few dollars to have this corrected if I could have it done. On a trip you cannot just glance down and see how far you have driven.

Ok, I feel the 4cyl is not an adequate engine for this SUV. The six speed transmission is down shifting all the time at all speeds just to keep this vehicle at 55-60 mph. Which in return makes this vehicle use a lot of gas. I was told at the dealership, "let it get 1000-2000 miles on it and it would get better". Ok it just rolled over to 5000 miles and the mileage is just as bad. So the dealership tells me now,"it will get better at around 7000- 8000 miles". REALLY NOW how much longer are they gonna make excuses for putting an inadequate engine into this SUV. But that is really my only complaint with this SUV. I should've gone with the V-6 model or another make.

We purchased my 2011 kia the last day in Feb. March 2nd I had to drive to Ohio for a family emergency. What a nice drive. Thank goodness for cruise control as before you know it you're going way over the speed limit. As of this date there are a few things that I would change or do differently. Third row seat is a waste for us.

So happy with my new Sorento! Traded in my 2006 Sorento for this major improvement. 4 cylinder AWD has more than enough power to get up Seattle hills. Can't wait to go test it out in the snow. Love the standard features of bluetooth, steering wheel controls, and ipod dock. You MUST get the convenience package! An extra $500 bucks or so gets you fog lights, roof rack, back up sensors, and a back up camera in the rear view mirror. After all of the rebates, loyalty discount, and dealer cash, I was able to get out the door for just over $20,000. Bought on last day of the month too.

We bought our Kia after looking at Honda's, Toyota's, Mazda's, and Subaru's. We thought the Kia was quieter, built better and had a way better warranty than the others. So far no problems at all. Have had it about 7 months now. And if anything does develop, I'm not worried at all. It is under warranty! I could make any brand sound bad if I pick it apart. I think Kia has come a long way and I am glad we gave it a chance. The ride is fine considering it IS a crossover after all. If I wanted a luxury ride, I would have spent 50 grand on something else. But for what it is, it is a great vehicle. I would recommend one to anyone. You can't knock it until you try it.

I bought a new Sorento because it is built in my county in Kia's first American plant. The styling is head- turning and a far cry from the basic designs that Kia first brought to this country. The interior is modern and has a premium feel, especially with all the controls on the steering- wheel, including Bluetooth (which is standard). The test drive on a winding road showed the car to be agile but never. The 2.4L engine also had plenty of guts to easily complete any two- lane overtaking moves asked of it. The three-hour ride home from the dealer revealed the car to also be an excellent long distance car as well. Fun to drive + Long distance comfort + lots of gadgets as standard = a great car.

Just bought this car in August, only has 1500 miles on it and I'm already having issues. The transmission seems to be acting up. I live in Florida and 3-4 times now when in drive, but stopped at a stop sign on a slight hill, the car does not budge when I give it gas. Not sure what this is about. Can also feel hard shifting while driving. The fuel economy is worse than expected - at best 21 mpg. The avg mpg reading never seems to be correct. Also, being petite I am building muscles trying to close the back hatch. It's crazy hard to close. The good news is that I love driving it. It's a beautiful car. It fits the family well. I was just really hoping for better fuel and more reliability.

Bought the EX V-6 August 18th. Have approx. 1600 miles on it. Love everything about my Sorento. It is black with black leather. Originally looked at the Equinox and decided Kia was a better fit for me. I just felt more comfortable in it compared to the other. Love the leather seats, panoramic sunroof, fit, finish, and comfort. Mileage has been around 22 mpg and that's just beebopping from here to there, not many highway miles yet. Has everything I wanted at a reasonable price. Now notice there is an SX line and a couple new colors. Would have liked to had the choice to go with an SX but still would have chosen my EX.

I have had my Sorento now for a little over a month. I am still being surprised daily at how nice this vehicle is. I am getting an avg of 21 mpg, mostly city driving. The power is comical in the fact that there is so much of it. A couple of nit pick items have popped up. Annoying buzz/rattle from dash on certain road surfaces. Slight vibration felt when slow left turns are used, I suspect tire noise. Other than theses extremely minor issues all is great with the Sorento. I actually have people ask if it is a new Acura MDX!

For $2K more than I paid for my RAV4 4 years ago, I got a lot more. Leather, GPS w/bluetooth/voice activated, rear camera w/backup warning, chrome 18" wheels, more room in 3rd row seat and easier to get in/out, 6 speed auto, FOB keyless, etc. Paid $30K (w/o tax, lic). RAV4 drives stiffer. It will also blow the doors off the KIA with it's 269 HP 5 spd auto! Kia's mpg has gotten better. Was 16.5, now 18-19 city. Hwy can get 23 mpg. Now, all the complaints other reviewers had, I haven't experienced. Hope I don't. But, the tranny on the RAV4 (64K miles) leaked oil. Dealer said $1800 minimum to fix. Shaft to transaxle had 3 cracks on it! Out of warranty. Toyota did a good-will on it. Cost me $165.

Olathe Kia contacted KIA engineers. Solution was to flash the computer. I am not sure how that works, but it worked. Fixed < 24 hours and they provided a free car during repair. Still very pleased with my purchase. Drives great, averaging 23 mpg, still turning heads. Thank you Olathe Kia.

Just picked up a 2011 Sorento EX 2WD, 4cyl with Prem Pkg 1 and 3rd row for my wife. Bright silver with black leather--Very sharp !!. Im a Honda buyer for the last 4 cars and drive a 2010 Ridgeline now that I love, but Kia has put up a CR-v killer here in the Sorento. Better exterior looks, more interior room and better finish, all the hi tech goodies and options at a great price. Thanks for putting the factory in Georgia and a bumper to bumper warranty that backs up their fine work for 5/y ,100k and 10 years on powertrain.

Beyond Expectation

Right after purchase we took it on a road trip to S. Lake Tahoe. The handling was very smooth and controlled even in the twists and turns of the mountain roads. The 4 cylinder engine performed beyond my expectations. It accelerated smoothly and passing at high speeds was a breeze. The engine's uphill performance was surprising; I had no trouble climbing the 7,000+ foot grade to Lake Tahoe. Round trip-the Sorento delivered an unbelievable 30 MPG. This was a mix of highway, twisting mountain roads, and around the City of S. Lake Tahoe. Overall, I'm very please with my purchase.

My New Car

I just bought my new Kia Sorento about a month ago now. The car is fine as it comes but I've found that a few safety things are missing. EX: tail gate is not always locked, even though the sticker says it has daytime running lights the car does not. Also I believe that the sticker price was way out of reach for most people. I thought I got a good deal but didn't so I would caution those contemplating a Kia Sorento purchase that Buyer Beware. Know that you are getting all you expect to get. Would I buy another that remains to be seen but right now NO.

I just picked up my SX last week at Findlay Kia in Las Vegas. The dealership experience was STELLAR! As for the Sorento, I am so glad I was delayed in my purchase, almost bought an EX limited V6 and am thrilled with the upgrades of the SX. So far, I love the mood lighting, the NAV system, and the smoother ride (compared to the EX). I also like that this trim level does NOT have the plastic bumpers like the EX and LX, it's a little beefier in its appearance. I upsized from a RAV4 so the gas mileage isn't as good but it's much bigger, more luxurious and has 276 HP which for me means going up hill without having to turn off the a/c! Get compliments every day! More to follow. Thanks Kia!

Good deal, poor fuel economy on AWD V6

Got a decent deal on a EX V6 AWD with sunroof and rearview camera. Good power and handling but disappointed with extra stiff ride and shocks/struts noise. Fuel economy no where near EPA estimate, getting 12- 14mpg in mainly city driving. Recommend test driving a few types (I4 vs V6 vs AWD) and monitoring fuel economy reading on odometer before buying. Make sure your comfortable with the stiff ride on rough roads.

I traded down from an Expedition EL Limited to the Sorento SX and I would NEVER go back. I love it. I wanted something with 3 rows but with better gas mileage. I test drove everything under the sun before finding this one. It is so fun to drive, but watch your speed, I got pulled over within two days. I learned very quickly to use the cruise. I love the red lighting, sunroof, sound system, and especially the bluetooth. I also love the push button start. I never have to get my keys out of my purse. MPG is just as described on sticker. I have had no problems and would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

Just picked up my shiny black Sorento SX and can't say enough about it. What a sharp lookin' ride! LOVE IT! My dealer experience at Findlay Kia in Las Vegas was fantastic! I averaged 25 MPG this week and am quite pleased with the smooth ride; especially compared the EX V6. This car had the most bang for the buck of any car I drove. I enjoy all of the convenience features and have made good use of the dual zone climate control, my mom can freeze on her side and I can stay unfrozen on my side! I love the voice activated features, the NAV, and the back-up camera. Stereo is good too. Even though it's just been a week, I am impressed every time I go for a ride. Thanks Kia

Had a 02 Ranger 4x4 V6 and wanted something able to haul more adults and much better mpg. Looked @ Escape, RAV4 & Mitsubushi Outlander. Impressed with leg and head room and much more cargo room than Escape & Rav4 and much cheaper. Not impressed w/mpg at first but have over 4,500 miles on it now and is living up to EPA rating. It is very quiet for 4cyl and has enough power for us. Is fun to drive and has very good visibility. We opted for the Premium package w/3rd row seat and the quality of interior is much better than the Outlander.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Like me you have read every review in the small mid size SUV category and having trouble deciding. I am so glad I chose the new Sorento. I have owned BMW, lexus, GMC. Mercedes and a range rover and this is the best car I have owned. The engine is like a Lexus, effortless from stop or in traffic. I have driven 15K miles in 6 months and besides a bad shock which was replaced in 24 hrs at no charge the car has been perfect. MPG is about 21 average with mostly city driving. The handling is like a BMW, gripes the road with no roll felt. BUY THIS CAR! Got a basic V6 for 23K, very happy.
