awesome truck for the money
the sales people were great and so is the service department
beware
One of the first questions i asked the salesman was how did the transmissions hold up on towing!!!!! He said great haven't had a problem... Well at 12000 miles even before we hooked a small pop camper to it we had to have the tranmission replaced, and from there 6 more trips to the dealer for shifter problems, eng light came on due to a trans problem....and oh yeah forgot this 18000 miles had to replace all 4 crappy YOKOHAMA tire' on it!!! I think you guys can get the gas mileage up too

Kia Sedona Review
We love our Kia Sedona. The affordability and warranty on the car is just wonderful especially for a family on one income. Our only complaint is the steering is very touchy.
We love our Sedona!
My husband & I have an 11 mo. old daughter & wanted a van that would make our lives easier. We didn't have big bucks, but knew we wanted the works. The Sedona made it possible for us to have it all! Leather, CD/tape, DVD, sunroof, ABS, power everything, you name it. The van is "meaty" & feels safe & comfortable. I'm picky about cushy seats. I do wish it had auto doors that slid open, but no big deal. I don't care that the seats don't fold into the floor. We have very versatile captains chairs & it seats 7 comfortably. Not great turning radius but everything else is fine. Some cheapy elements, knobs on controls, door handles. Everything else is A+. We love
My Sedona
Only real problem is the driver seat dowsn't go low enuff down
Is any one there?
My new experiance with Kia left me happy. I enjoy the power to pass when and who I want. Yet the fuel milage could be better. (20 mile per/gallon tops, on a good day). The room is adequate for my family of six. I had only one problem with my Kia in 8,700 miles. The rear heater stopped working shortly after I purchased my family van. And the dealer is so far away, it is a real experience taking it in (45 minutes away) for repair. Not only is it far, but with four kids it really makes it a miserable task.
all around value
Powerful , able to tow rated loads, but watch out, tranny spits metal powder after any steady towing,be sure to change the fluid evry 10,000 miles like they say!! I have 50,000 miles on mine and it works well.
Just bought one on the 26 of Dec 04
Just bought this ex model on the 26 of dec 04 and am so far impressed with it. The only thing I would recommend is that ABS should be standard equip. on all models, not sold as an option. So far very impressed with the entertainment system. This is our first minivan, so my wife and I really don't know what to expect in ride and comfort. I have noticed that the ride is stiff kinda like a truck, but that is o.k. for the money we paid we did get alot for what we have. Can't tell you much about the gas mileage cause we are still on the 1st tank of free gas. Driving around in D.C. traffic i am sure i will not get what the manf. recommend though. Enjoy the van. great purchase.
KIA?
BANG FOR THE BUCK DESCRIBES THIS VEHICLE. YOU GET MORE THAN YOUR MONEY'S WORTH AND CAN SURPRISE MANY HIGH END MINI-VANS WITH ITS TORQUE, POWER AND SMOOTHNESS. FINISH QUALITY EXTENDS FROM THE INTERIOR ALL THE WAY TO THE EXTERIOR, SO DON'T LET THE PRICE FOOL YOU, KEEP THE MAINSTREAM GUESSING. THE WARRANTY IS NOT HALF BAD EITHER.
Kia Sedona at 5000 miles
We've recently passed the 5,000 mile mark with our "loaded" 2005 Sedona. Those miles included two trips over the 2004 holidays, totalling about 3,000 miles. So far I'd say we have a somewhat less than average impression of our first KIA. Probably the biggest complaint we have is with the gas mileage. Our expectations - as set by the salesman- were 22+ mpg, Needless to say we were dismayed when we got a little over 18. The second area we found lacking in this vehicle is with the interior space. Utilizing the available space behind the third row seating reduces the "recline" feature and makes for a less comfortable trip. Overall, the features are nice but the controls are confusing.
miasedona
A nice car.Great value.Does not have all the "must have" features but has a lot nicer stuff than many comparably priced Fords, GMs and Chryslers.
Be Careful about Fuel System
Purchased vehicle in November 2004, took to service center in December, January, February and again in March. The problem has been a "Faulty" fuel pressure switch. According to the service manager this is a known problem that continues to cause problems. It should be fixed this time. Only 6200 miles on vehicle. Unable to take on trips afraid check engine light will go on again.
Best bye buck for buck
I think Kia went the extra mile on there Sedona. Every avalable space inside has a purpose with three glove compartments and a safe, cup holders ,C D holder, etc. With the V6- 5 speed this van has plenty of power.Handles very well in the snow and has a passing gear at 60 miles per hour that you still have power to pass on the highway. The only thing Kia could do better for this van is to inprove the gas mileage.
Love it
I love this van. They the reviewers keep commenting on the weight. As far as power for the weight I have no problem she gets to the interstate speeds real quick. I think when Kia is around for a while and skeptics like me buy them then watch out all the optioned out overpriced competition. The way I see it the competition is going to do all they can to make Kia look bad. If you stay out of the pedal you can stretch the so so gas milage. Nice ride, nice handling and more power than I am going to need. Oh I forgot the interior is not gaudy and just enough for the average non show-off. Traded in a Spectra 2002 60000 on it loved it also.Kia will bring the resale value with time. Good job.
The "Mona Lisa" Kia
If you decide to buy this van, please take it out for a day long test drive. My Kia has a moan telegraphing from the front Air Conditioner compressor through the dashboard. First time returned - Dealer says noise is "normal" - checking with Kia for countermeasures. Second time in - dealer checking with "tech-line" for countermeasures. Third time in, a Kia District Manager stated again noise heard is "normal". Rode exact same make and model courtesy vehicles transporting me to dealer 70 miles round trip (3 seperate vehicles)- no noise. Offered to trade my van for one of them (with 21,000 miles)- dealer laughed. Make sure you check with NHTSA before buying. I call my car "Moana Lisa".
Great family vehicle
We bought our Van 2 weeks ago and love it.We have three small children and when looking around for a van we wanted one with a lot of storage/room as well as an affordable price. The Sedona's inside design allows for plenty of storage and I love all the cup holders and A/C Adaptors. We also liked that the dual slide doors comes standard on all models. The one thing I would change would be the width of the van.We have the model that has captain chairs and it is a little difficult to walk between the two seats.I have noticed on other vans the body is much wider.Other than that we love this van.We intend to keep it a long time. The great thing about Kia is the warranty! 100K/10years.You can't beat it
The best van
I had a van for sixteen years and knew it was time to start looking for a new one. We looked at Ford, Honda, and then Kia. We stopped looking! We bought our Kia in December 2004. We love it. I went from hauling my children to hauling my grand children. I just can't say enough good about this vehicle. Great gas mileage(especially with the gas prices),the price paid for the van was heaven sent(affordable). Thank you, Sandy & Eddie Rehrer
Newly bought
My buying experience was the best I could expect. I have driven the car 200 miles since buying it yesterday and love the feel of the wheel and the comfort. I look forward to filling it with my family members!
excellent
This was one of the most important decisons I had to make since moving to the Virginia area. This turned out to be the best thing I did. The ride is comfortable, the gas mileage is great and I am recommending the vehicle to others.
kia lover
three fun trips to atlanta,ga..did not have to worry about a thing.
Love my Kia Sedona
I purchased my 2005 Kia Sedona a month ago and have just been more than pleased with the vehicle. My first priority was that it was safe and it received 5-star safety ratings. My next concern was affordability. I couldn't even touch a comparable mini-van for what I'm paying for my Kia. Overall, I am thrilled!
My 1st Kia
Have owned this car for over a year. Outstanding in every sense of the word except for the poor gas mileage. Have taken it on three trips so far and comfort and driving experience outstanding, very disappointed in gas mileage with or without a full load of people and luggage. Outstanding exterior appearance.
I love my Kia!!!!!!!
The only problem I have had with my van is that the air conditioner has had problems since we purchased it. It made weird noises. Then it decided to stop blowing cold. However, the biggest problem in not the air, it is the service dept. We have it in the shop now, it has been there for 5 days, it should be ready tomorrow. I HOPE! I had to argue to get a loaner, as I was without a car for 5 days. The service that I was promised leaves a lot to be desired. Because of this I am unlikely to purchase another Kia. I am taking a 300 mile trip on Friday, so we are cutting it close with getting the air repaired. I Have asthma and have to have the air.
Economically Great
This minivan has all the features you need with several cupholders, compartments, and evan a locked compartment under the passenger seat.
Mileage bites
This is a new van purchased with the salesperson's guaranty that this van will get 16-18 MPG city and 24-26 or better freeway. Four months into owning the vehicle, the BEST mileage I can get so far is averaging 10.1 city and 14 freeway. Wish I had my Toyota Tacoma Prerunner back. Nice truck, great mileage.
Second review
Hi, This is my second review. My first review was done right after we bought our van and it was a good review but, after having had it for several months I do have some new issues. One being the paint. It scratches and dents very easy. The gas mileage is horrible, the cargo room is next to none. We keep one captains chair out in order to have extra room and we have a chirping noise that happens when we first start the van in the morning or after it has sat for awhile. We were told it is a normal sound because the pistons may stick or get something in them? After the first start up and after it drives awhile it does quit. However it bothers/worries me. Overall It is a good van and we are happy with it!
I'm not impressed
My wife and I bought the van in May '05. With two kids, we figured a car wouldn't work so we bought the van. As for room, we should have stuck with a car. Not much more room offered. The seats are very uncomfortable. The gas mileage - absolutely horrible! But considering the price, safety and budget we'll have this van for quite a while. Gotta do it for the kids.
Warranty alone overcomes short-falls
We've only owned our '05 Sedona for 4 months. 9000 miles on it now. I was surprised at the "normal" noisiness of the van. A/C compressor is extra noisy when it turns on. A 'clunking' noise comes from the front end at any small bump in the road. Sounds like tie rod end bushings, but dealer mechanic says, "drive any '05 Sedona and you'll hear the same thing." Same said about the A/C compressor. The seats are not particularly comfortable, but have a nice covering. I just had the rotors replaced from warping (8000 miles). My dealer said, "rotors not covered under warranty," a dealer in Illinois disagreed and changed them while I was on vacation.
Very nice little minivan
Very sturdy and trouble free van, nice build quality inside compared with cheap American minivans. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.
Who knew what a 15 minute test drive didn't tell
This is by far the worst vehicle we have had. It is entirely too small inside, seats are uncomfortable, visor on drivers side is difficult to see past when down, hard to see behind auto with head rests, they were removed, built for small persons, gas mileage is not anywhere near 22mpg highway, can't hardly make a "U" turn, power steering is rotten, like not having much if any. All dash and steering column gadgets are located in awkward places and user unfriendly! Heater is not consistent, radio dial volume knob turns and turns after full volume is reached. Any person sitting in very back seat cannot sit up straight if over 6 ft tall. We want out of this car ASAP.
2005 Sage Sedona
A lot of minivan for the buck. Kia is motivated to compete and it shows. Common sense features + extras. Nice to drive. Well designed. Happy with it.
Never Again
I have owned 6 brand new vehicles and this has to be worse than the 15 year old Subaru I got rid of that had 235,000 miles on it. I can not think of any positive feedback for this vehicle. The warranty is only good if the manufacturer will fix/repair the problems.
Not for mountain/foothill dwellers
I liked this van at first, but after having it for 16 months I was more than happy to trade it in and will never buy another Kia.I do alot of mountain driving and long road trips. The front brakes had to be replaced 5 times, the rotors 2, the tires 2x (H rated tires are expensive) and recently the wheel bearings on the front left went out. I had to have it wrecker towed to the dealer. Luckily, the warranty covered the bearings and first 2 sets of front brakes and rotors. Other sedona owners in my area have had brake and tire issues as well. Even the service manager admitted these cars are not suited for those who live in mountainous areas.ext. warranty helped with rental but this van is not worth it!
poor fuel economy
This 2005 Kia Sedona seemed like a nice van at first, then I noticed the brakes didn't have a solid response in defensive braking. Turning sharp corners made the vehicle feel top heavy. The real surprise came when the fuel mileage averaged out 7 MPG!!!. I asked other owners and got similar news. The 3.5 V6 has plenty of power and most likely too much thus such low mpg. Unfortunately these vans lose their value very quickly.
Beware of faulty brakes
Within a few months of buying our Sedona we began having brake problems. The brakes would grind when stopping. We took it to be repaired and they fixed it at no charge. The same problem happened again within a short time and the brakes had to be replaced for a second time. We read on the internet that the brakes were too small for the weight of the vehicle. This was a design flaw. A third time we had to take the van in for brake repairs and this time the dealership told us that they had a brake kit that would permanently fix the problem. They put in the new brakes but since the van had 50,000 miles on it they made us pay over $400.00 to finally fix the problem. We are furious about this!!
Awesome van
Check all the features what you like and what you don’t like.
Consumers Beware!
My van has a thumping noise caused from the struts. What bothers me the most is that Sedona vans have been known to have this problem since 2002. Had I known this I would have driven right by this dealership on the day I bought my van. Now, I am stuck. Kia is aware of this noise and has established it as an "irritant noise" and not a safety issue; therefore, at this time nothing can be done until Kia develops a replacement part (which will be covered by warranty, given the warranty does not expire before the part is invented). Great van -- if you don't mind a brand new vehicle that makes a thumping noise. Before you buy a Sedona do your research -- talk with other Sedona owners.
We love our new Sedona!
We just traded in our '04 Sedona for a loaded '06 Sedona and we love it.
