Used 2014 Jeep Wrangler Consumer Reviews
Still a “new” car; Freedom edition JKU
Bought this vehicle new. The only problem has been a loose exhaust shield, which I gladly ripped off. Oil changes every 7-10k. Does a lot of towing: pontoon, jet ski, side by side/atv’s and a large enclosed snowmobile trailer. Also gets some off-road use. Close to 130k miles. The JKU has been flawless, runs like new, drives like new and looks like new (minus a few buffable scratches). This vehicle has never left me stranded or sounded weird. The ride is quiet enough (under 85), the stock upgraded sound system is one of the best I’ve heard, and I’ll be integrating a backup camera into the Uconnect soon (for trailers mostly). This vehicle has far surpassed my expectations for reliability thus far.

Replacing my rusty 2005 TJ with this workhorse.
This JKU is noticeably larger than my TJ was. It has the hardtop so between that and the longer wheelbase it has a nicer, quieter ride. I managed to find a manual transmission, which may explain why I have been getting about 25 MPG; way above the 18 or so I was expecting. I dislike the electric window switches being on the dashboard; in fact I dislike electric windows (I prefer windows that work without the keys), but the few hand crank window versions I found all had over 100K miles. I will learn to adapt. It is a bit frustrating that it is not possible to disengage the Auto-theft alarm completely. They only way to lock the car without the alarm on, is to lock the doors with the manual lever at the door handle. My Jeep also has an AMFM radio that will not function, which the dealership was unable to fix in a timely manner (supply chain issues). It was okay for me as I was happy to just use Sirius/XM, but my research seemed to indicate that non functioning radios is pretty normal for these Jeeps.
