I've had my 4dr Rubicon for about 3 years now. First the pro's, they are real easy to work on (oil changes, brakes, etc). They are ideal for almost any situation...from offloading to commuting with coworkers. Handle well in any and all weather situations. You will never get tired of driving it, remove the roof/top and now you have a "convertible"....remove all the doors and then you are truly getting the jeep experience. And also, they hold there resale vaule which is a big deal to me. Okay now for the cons: not a cheap vehicle to buy. Gas mileage is not the greatest. Very little horsepower (for me this is a great thing since I have a lead foot....and this jeep "struggles" to get up to high speeds. Interior is minimalist, nothing powered, etc. If you are looking for anything luxurious in an SUV....stay away from the jeep.

Common issue, burning oil, about 1 quart per 1000 miles ( with additive): https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/oilburningjeepwrangler#comments

I understand this is a jeep and it's rugged and tough and can go almost anywhere. In fact that is the reason i purchased it in the first place. That said however, I'm not sure what the people at jeep were thinking with a rock hard console cover and door armrest.come on a little comfort while taking this beast off road would be greatly appreciated by all.what could it actually cost to include a console like the Tuffy aftermarket. just a little bit of refinement would go a long way. sore elbows take away the fun of driving

Well I have had this for a few months now and was able to take it off road, this is by far the best jeep I have driving. I had a 2002 X series before this Rubicon and it is a night and day difference. The Rubicon is by far the best off road vehicle for a stock off the lot s.u.v. there is no comparison. I was able to go through every place and it did not even act like it was off road. This truck is a beast for sure. It is not a city vehicle if your looking for gas mileage by a hybrid cause you are not passing many stations with this vehicle, but I don't care I love it. I wanted a jeep for the off road not gas mileage.

Let me start by saying that, this is not my first Jeep product, But it is my first JKU body. This is my daily driver, and While I take excellent care of it, some are just Jeep conditions; I maintain a rust free frame, floors and body, (even in Canada) the motor is very underpowered, for the Rubicon model; with the 3.8 L. Windshield will always end up cracked, when you replace it go with the gorilla glass, it’s slightly more durable, and in my experience, it hasn’t underperformed the original in time or quality. Interior space is exactly as expected, even more so with the soft top. I have used it for off-road, camping, moving, and never had any issues. Maintenance wise, I have replaced the brakes entirely once, pads twice. Brake fluid/power steering fluid maintenance regularly, spark plugs on schedule. Heater core I replaced at 200,000 km 240,000km all around shocks & coil springs 250,000 km, I replaced the lower intake manifold gasket, upper intake manifold gaskets; thermostat, all cooling hoses. A jeep is incredibly robust, and very easy to work on, based on it sitting height, and although there are some quality control/engineering issues, such as electronic, swaybar disconnect, on the Rubicon models, which is prone to taking on water and debris and failing; (mine broke off inside at the gearhead) this is a $3000 part, but you have other options, as long as five or $600; not as convenient, but workable. as far as a vehicle, and its utility is concerned, it’s an excellent choice. Iconic.
