A recall waiting to happen

Completely shuts off while freeway driving. Three times. Once I was told it was a simple computer reset that was needed. Three months later, they could not find an issue. 3rd time, about three weeks later I was told it needed a software upgrade. But I contacted corporate and turns out it needed several updates. But I suspect it’s sonething much more major. And based on NHTSA website, my issues are too common and there is grave danger here. Getting rear ended on the freeway because there in no warning as to when this will happen is inevitable. Car lunging forward while brake is depressed has already caused a few accidents with other owners. The dealership in Wooster, Ohio has terrible auctioneer service. I gmdwaling with corporate right now. No one seems to know what’s happening and contact with them is not timely or given when promised.

RUN FROM THE TRAILHAWK

a. e. fin, 01/23/2017
2017 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk 4dr SUV 4WD (2.4L 4cyl 9A)

I owned my Trainlhawk three weeks before it went to the service department for the first time. The heated seats came on by themselves without a warning light. They re-programmed the car. Three days later the navigation system would not work, so they ordered a new one. One week later, while pulling up to a red light, the car would not accelerate when the light changed. The Jeep had died and all of the interior functions were still working and I did not feel the Jeep die. Fortunately in rush hour I was not hit from behind. The dealer has now had my Jeep 3 weeks, unable to find out why it died in traffic. Run from this vehicle. This is a systemic problem, with many complaints on the NHTSA website. Jeep corporate has no solution for this vehicle's problems.

A real gem of a deal

Paulson, 01/29/2019

My sincere advice: Get the manual 2wd. Seriously, this is the lightest, fastest, simplest, most reliable, & most fun-to-drive iteration of this vehicle. I know, you need awd to get thru rain and snow. No, actually you don't. Wake up and stop watching Subaru commercials. I saw 3 cars in the ditch during our snowstorm last Sat. & they were all awd/4wd vehicles. Are you a real off-roader? OK, then stop reading this and buy a Wrangler. For the other 99%, this car is just fine. Best of all, it was $23K msrp and with factory & dealer incentives I got it for $8K off. That's insane for a brand spankin new vehicle of this class! It's basically an Italian-built, hot hatch cleverly disguised as a boxy SUV. It's quiet at cruising spee, does well over 120 mph top speed, handles shockingly well, is very spacious for a subcompact SUV and the manual trans is a joy to use. I've had mine for 1 year and 23K miles. So far I've spent only $90 on maintenance (Qty of 3 oil changes at $6/filter via Ebay and 12 qts of synthetic oil for $3/qt at Farm & Fleet store). I just splurged and renewed my SXM subscription since the little Jeeplet is so cheap to operate. I've run only 89 octane gas and I average 27mpg mixed with over 34mpg on the hwy if I cruise at 65 mph. There's nothing not to love. Plus, my wife and kids really enjoy it too. Go buy one before all the manuals are gone.

Compact, but roomy and reliable

I've owned my Jeep Renegade for two years now and have almost 70,000 miles on it. I travel A LOT and spend a lot of time in the mountains and this car has been amazing at reliability and making me feel comfortable to take long trips by myself. The gas mileage is great for an SUV, it's compact enough that I can literally park in compact parking spots but it's still roomy enough for me to sleep in my car. I love my Jeep and have a feeling it will last me a while.

This is a Jeep not a wannabee all wheel drive!

This is my third New Jeep and I really like this little one. PROS, I like the skid plates for starters and on my recent road trip from the Colorado Rockies to Ocean Shores Washington I ran over a truckers short wood 4x4 for there truck beds on the freeway at 70 mph. And I could not do anything except hit it and the plates stopped any damage to my jeep, but a few miles down the road I seen at least 3 cars disabled from this large debris. Now I wanted the plates for off road but they had a bonus for everyday driving. The controls and well placed and it is easy to use. On my trip I drove over 12 hours each day and I was very comfortable. CONS, my large copilot dog that did knock my automatic transmission into manual mode many times before she understood that was not good, so it is a bit tight in the front seats if you have a large dog that hog's the front seat keep a eye on the tachometer! Oh and fishing poles that are 6 foot or larger must be centered and ran over the armrest. OTHER THOUGHTS, I bought this for its gas mileage and it is good for a very capable four wheel drive and for its size I feel there is no comparison, because it is a Jeep not a wannabee all wheel drive! There is a difference when you pull off that comfortable road.

I have a 2017 Sport model with the 2.4L 9 speed automatic. Have had car for 1 year now with only 6900 miles on it. I have never owned a Jeep before and didn't know what to expect.... All I can say is WOW...… what a great little car. Does have a bit of wind noise at freeway speeds but that is to be expected with a boxy body style. Ride is comfortable, acceleration is good, and it is easy and fun to drive....

Love the looks on this car however its built like your typical Chrysler pos. No engine problems yet but the transmission cant take much more jerking without becoming very costly. After 15k miles on it the front rotors both sides are horribly scored. I have a Cobalt with 210k miles on it with 2nd pair of rotors that look better then these things. Not suppose to be have these issues with a car this new. Acceleration is garbage, turn radius is garbage fuel mileage for a 4 cylinder is really garbage at 24mpg. The software is slow and glitchy. Its really been a pretty bad vehicle so far.

My vehicle was bought brand new and began randomly turning off with NO WARNING around 50K miles. I took it to THREE dealerships just to be told that the engine is shutting off due to not "topping off" my oil in between changes. I have kept the oil topped off since the last oil change and it continues to turn off while driving. There are no warnings, such as check engine lights, etc. This vehicle is a MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD.

I have exactly what I want minus a/c didn't know I had to ask for it. It doesn't come with a spare tire. I have weird things happening with start up that Dealership would prefer to ignore and or do nothing about. It drives great. I like the 6 speed manual transmission. I haven't had a chance to use 4x4 yet but will appreciate it this winter. The seats are comfortable and the room in back is good for cargo.

Bought this 2017( Renegade In Feb 2018, new. It's a Latitude 6 speed manual 1.4 liter turbo. It replaced a Subaru Outback 2.5 liter 5 speed. I drove the Renegade for 35,000 miles over 4 years and I am totally enjoyed this SUV. I had no issues with the vehicle whatsoever. My service expenses to were oil changes, tire rotations, and more recently tire replacement. I had a flat tire and the OEM Continental Tire sidewall broke being repaired. They were cheap and noisy tires. I was glad they were gone. The Renegade was flawless. I was impressed with its performance. It has lots of acceleration when in the correct gear. There was an extremely minor turbo delay, almost unnoticeable. I didn’t care about fuel economy. Having said that my average was 29 mpg. I always used premium fuel, as recommended by the owners manual. It was a very solid, tight feeling vehicle, with extremely comfortable seats in the front. The handling was crisp and very nimble. The turning radius was narrow. The shifting was smooth. The brakes were quick and perfect. The clutch at times was a bit too sensitive. The primary purpose of having and driving the Renegade was to get to our mountain home in the winter. The Renegade climes the mountains with no hesitation, usually in cruise control, in 5th gear. On occasion I stalled the motor at a stop, most often when the A/C is on and I’m making a sharp turn. This is likely because the power is being taken up by those things and I’m not mindful of this at the time. I find that one must use either more rpms or slip the clutch to avoid a stall. The cabin is quite noisy at highway speeds. It has an excellent heater and a/c system. The visibility is very good. I didn't expect electric operated mirrors, which I really like. The high front hood gives one the impression of driving a pickup and not a compact SUV. I chose the Latitude for the back up camera and the roof racks. The aluminum wheels are also a plus. It was almost impossible to find a 6 speed manual 4x4 Renegade in 2018. Jeep no longer imports Renegades with a manual transmission. The price was very low for such a well equipped 4x4. My grandjkids loved this vehicle. I sold the Renegade for more money than I had paid for it 4 years later. Amazing car! I replaced it with a BMW roadster, manual transmission of course.

I bought a 2017 desert hawk thinking that it would be great for snow and would at least hold strong residual value. I'm blown away by how nice the car is. It tackles slick, hilly roads with no problem. It is exceptionally comfortable. It is loaded with modern technology. It's reliable and wows all of my friends. Don't believe everything you read, these are really top of the line in this price range.

I got a free loaner from my Jeep dealership because my 2016 Jeep Patriot manual transmission wasn't working right. Had 17,000 miles on the car when it went down. The air bag sensor had to be replaced as well. Patriot was fine before these issues. The dealer lent me a 2017 Renegade Trailhawk and I loved it. Anybody who'd buy the Patriot with freedom drive 2 is crazy because you could buy the Renegade Trailhawk for the same money and get much better fuel economy. and a thoroughly modern vehicle with blind spot detectors, back up cameras etc. Let me compare the 2 vehicles. HP : Renegade has 180hp, the Patriot has 172 HP. The seating in the Renegade is way more comfortable than the Patriot. It contours your body nicely and big tall people feel great in the bucket seats. Huge headroom like the Patriot. Back seats have the same legroom as the patriot. Cargo space is a little less than in the Patriot. You get a full size spare in the Renegade Trailhawk, Patriot has a smaller spare . Instrument panel is 10 x better in the Renegade and looks really really rugged looking . The radio has a nice rugged look , The Patriot radio is very ordinary. I liked the look of the Renegade radio, but the small screen made the backup camera picture hard to see .I wish Jeep incorporated all the new Renegade stuff into the Patriot . The Patriot looks like a real Jeep, the Renegade looks KIA Soul like. Acceleration is fantastic in the Trailhawk version , but I wish it came with manual transmission. It's higher off the ground than the Patriot and has a better ride. The Patriot had more storage space. I'd probably buy the Trailhawk if I had to decide again. I own land in upstate NY and visit during the winter. The Trailhawk would be great with it's superior off roading and excellent gas mileage . I thought about buying the Patriot with the freedom drive 2 , but the gas mileage was horrendous . The Renegade is the Patriot with freedom drive 2 and it gets much better gas mileage. It all has the blindspot detector. If a car comes into your blindspot, the mirror will light up with a yellow dot telling you a car is in your blindspot. I love that feature. The AC and climate control are excellent and it was freezing in the car on a hot 90 degree day. I wish my Patriot had all this new stuff. But I don't really like the look of the car. It's not bad. I paid $18500 for my 4x 4 Patriot, the Trailhawk is $24000 on True Car. Very reasonable for a fuel efficient vehicle that's 10 x better off roading than anything Toyota, Honda , Hyundai has.

Suspension Failed / Car Totaled/Tie Rod Broke

Failure! Had 30,000 miles, suspension failed/tie rod broke in half, wheel housing split in half! Never used it for 4WD/Off road. Was driving on normal street, 45MPH, heard loud BANG. Front end lifted, vehicle uncontrollably veered to right...taking me into a pole. Vehicle was totaled. I fortunately was saved by airbags..knocked unconscious and am really never ever going to buy another Jeep Renegade. From 5 star to negative 2 stars. Notified Jeep and they take no responsibility. Did report to National Safety Board. Can't sue because I didn't die or rip my body parts off. This is an equipment failure...as mentioned by several highly qualified collision repair personnel. GOOD NEWS FOR ME! I ORDERED A FORD MAVERICK HYBRID.

I am pretty happy with the car. Nice looking exterior and very comfortable interior. For it's size it is roomier than you think but it is a very compact car. Entertainment system feels like an old system, no apple car play or Android auto. Uconnent is the worst. Engine is okay. Sounds and feels underpowered but after a couple long road trips and trips through sand it’s very adequate and comfortable. The transmission can be jerky and feels like it's always searching for gears. It is pretty quiet and drives smooth enough. Luckily, I haven't had any issues yet. UPDATE: There was recall for high oil consumption issues which was never an issue with my car specific. With this they updated the PCM and TCM (I believe). I’ve noticed smoother shifts since then.

I bought a 2017 jeep Renagade Trailhawk 5 months ago from a jeep,Chrysler, Dodge dealership that had 49,000 miles on it. They gave me a bumper to bumper warranty for 160,000 miles. Within a month I had to have rotors and brake pads replaced after 2 trips back to the dealership and threatening to take it to my mechanic to have the service manager finally say he heard the noises while driving it. I have always taken my cars to a auto shop told them the problem and they figure it out and fix it. This dealership will report it if it doesn't do it to me I can fix it. This week my jeep died on a bridge over the river during rush hour without any warning lights coming on. The jeep would start and all interior lights were on but nothing would happen when I pressed on the accelerator. I Had it towed home to empty my work supplies and 600 lbs of animal feed and then towed to the dealership the next morning where I had purchased it. Both tow truck drivers had tried to start the jeep to get it on their trucks without success. At the dealership the service tech got it started and told me the juggling around from tow truck must have knocked something loose. Since I drive 100-200 miles a day for work as a home health care therapist in very rural areas without cell phone service I insisted that they find out why it happened and fix it. They service dept. charged me $110 for " reprogramming the transmission" which they state is considered routine maintenance not covered by my bumper to bumper warranty. I have also had warning lights come on stating my rear lights were out when they were not. Since doing this research I have found out these are all issues that have been brought to the manufactures attention and no recall has been issued. My fear is the jeep stalling on a 2 lane blacktop on hills or a blind curve and being rear ended causing a accident or being stranded in a rural area without cell service in bad weather. The dealership in Jefferson City mo from whom I purchased the vehicle keeps telling me they can't fix a problem they can't replicate. All I had to do was Google problems with jeep renegade and found out that all of these issues are common problems. I Guess someone has to be killed in a accident because their jeep stalled without warning and a class action suit to get the manufacturer to remedy these issues.

I just got my 2017 Jeep Renegade from a Dodge dealer last August. It has spent more time in the shop than on the road. Not only did it need a new radio, it also needed a NEW TRANSMISSION, a new cooling fan, and plenty of other replacements. This car still does not accelerate or shift correctly and I can't even pull out onto a road without knowing that it might not accelerate enough for me to not be hit. The more I drive this vehicle, the more issues arise. Besides it's random overheating, this vehicle's dash also flashes randomly, which can be quite distracting when you are driving it. The gas mileage on these vehicles is everything except predictable, just like the quality of the car itself. If you don't want your bank account to be drained and your car to spend the entire time at the dealership, I would suggest going with a car besides a Renegade.

Handles great, acceleration is good, not a rocket but good. Not bad for a 4 banger. It feels tightly built, but comfortable and handles like a Wrangler 2 door somewhat. Lots of nice creature features. I love my little Renegade! It actually looks "beefy" next to my wifes patriot.

I have a 2015 jeep renegade limited sport 2.4 liter...bought the vehicle with 24 miles on it. Right off the showroom floor. In December of 2016. Never even have taking it out of state. Engine in it has a cracked block, have had it in and out of the shop since October 2017. When we noticed it started consuming oil. Not leaking mind you...they are unreliable and with just under 30k miles on it, manufacturers and dealership are not wanting to buy it back, but just put another motor in it. Which mind you no telling what damage that a blown motor has done to the transmission and other components. Please do not purchase this jeep...

This car in the past year has given me more problems then ex-boyfriends. My tires decide to never stay inflated, my engine shuts off by itself, the bluetooth doesn't work, HORRIBLE BLIND SPOTS, and the acceleration jerks. I originally wanted the Jeep Liberty ,but of course when I buy a car Jeep comes out with their crappiest model. I am also living in 2 states currently NY and AL so I get both city driving and back roads and for both it sucks. As you can tell i'm pretty salty.

Went to dealership requesting a Toyota, Honda or Nissan. Salesman asked that I test drive the 2017 Renegade Trailhawk. Did not want to like it......but I loved it. Nice height, comfortable front seating, easy navigation option and cute as ever. This is my first SUV and I love it!!!! Have never written a review before but this is news worthy!!

Bought my Renegade new in 2017 & have 40K miles now w/not a single problem yet. Only work has been regular maint. Have done 7 oil changes, front brake pads & rotors at 35K ($100 for the kit at Rockauto), & new tires at 39K ($50 each at Simpletire.com). Still on orig clutch, which shifts wonderfully. The impressive Fiat 1.4T is the little motor that could. Smooth & efficient, yet snarkly & very lively when you put your foot down. Ample acceleration & passing power while averaging 26 mpg in mixed driving. If you've only tested this vehicle with the auto trans, you've missed out. The 6-spd manual model is a hidden delight.

Update- I have had my Renegade for 2 years now, and continues to be AMAZING! LOVE this tank! I found myself suddenly looking for a new car when my 2004 Jeep Liberty was damaged beyond repair in a bad storm! I had not looked at Jeeps in 14 years, and started stressing out about buying a new car! I started test driving different models at my Jeep dealership, and really got excited when I drove the Renegade! This car was so much fun to drive! I decided to buy this model, and I am so glad I did! Everyday is a pleasure in this car! I love everything about it! The details are everywhere! Love the heavy solid feeling of the car, leather wrapped steering wheel (which is smaller than most steering wheels giving it a racecar feeling!), the technology is up to date with rear cameras, UConnect system, keyless entry, information screen, and since I have the 4WD, I can tell when the wheels slow down on steep inclines, and automatically adjust when the weather suddenly turns bad! The wheels auto adjust from front wheel drive on dry flat roads, to 4WD in heavy rain or snow! I am grateful for so many features that help me stay safe, and I enjoy the rugged look of the car design! I can tell the designers had fun with this car, as there are fun things to discover like the keyless starter button says "Here`s to new adventures" on the outside, there is a Sasquatch tiny decal on the rear window, and a Jeep Willy climbing a rock on the front window! I appreciate the Jeep Wrangler/Willy reference in the rear tail light design, too! Some of the other features I love are the large windshield wipers that clear the whole window in front, the sun visors also can be flipped to the side not just in front, and the car sits you up high like my Liberty did, improving the view in front! The Renegade has so many great features and is such a great driving experience, I feel so fortunate to have this car!!!! I truly cannot find a downside to owning this fabulous car!! Update- after owning this car for a year and a half, it is still fabulous and sooooooo much fun to drive! Highly recommend!

Trailer hitch--- out of sight price! $1200 plus if dealer installed. traction control can be turned off. if you dont you loose power in a tight turn entering a highway. ( I never liked it on other cars but i could turn it off) ride is good. fairly quite. and a lot of fun to drive. arm rest are poorly position ( door side is to far out, console is not confortable.) and it got noisy ??? its not a car that I can sit back and relax ( electric power steering) oil change $52.95 at dealer. stupid! I do it my self for $22 or go to muffler man for $25.

I owned a 2004 and a 2012 Jeep wranglers, never had any problems. I bought a brand new 2017 Jeep renegade and what a disaster it has been. I’ve had knocking sounds in the front end That I have to take it In for, electrical problems in the winter, the windows wouldn’t open and I couldn’t unlock the doors. My stereo would just black out for no reason. The paint from The lettering fell off. It’s Not equipped with a spare tire. This car was cheaply and horribly made and one of the worst pieces of junk I have ever driven despite the hefty price tag. Jeep quality has really taken a dump.

I have the latitude 2017, Non Trail Hawk. 2.5 Liter, 4x4. I feel many of the reviews of the car seem to cut and paste from the others. I have driven the car over 12,000 Miles. Taken on the sandy beech, Driven Interstate through twisty mountains of Virginia in summer and driven in snow. Put my Kayak on top and bike hitch on included trailer hitch. The car is fun to drive. Has comfortable front seats. Incredible headroom and adequate rear seat space. Seats four comfortably for trips around town. Differentiating features in its class are a light towing ability and optional trailer hitch. So far I have had zero problems with the car and my only trip to the dealer has been for required oil change. Transmission can be slow to downshift but it seems to improved with break in and no car in this class has neck breaking acceleration.

Very stylish looking car. Trailhawk claims to be "Trail Ready". With two ply polyester sidewall tires it is not ready for rocky trails. In 50K miles we have had coils go out on two cylinders. The resulting stuttering is very dangerous in cross traffic. The dealership misdiagnosed the issue as motor mounts because the engine light did not activate. Apparently mechanics can no longer diagnose if the computer does not give them the code. No engine light warning, no code. We were able to get most of the $1400 for motor mounts refunded.

It's a nice baby Jeep, The Trailhawk is set up for off road driving so in city driving with bad road it's great. Just do rust to get it, shop around and make sure you get all the options you want. I test drove a few Trailhawks and the one I got didn't have a trail hitch with I didn't find out till I got home because I thought it had the trail package like all the others I test drove. Also didn't have the MySky which really makes it a cool car if you get it. I should had waited and checked things out better. But it is a cool car.

Bought it because of size and price It has air, cruise and standard radio Having bought many vehicles since the 60s I expected the usual recalls etc. I havent had one with our 2017 Renegade Sport. We got the 2 wheel drive with manual 6 speed We average 35 mpg combined . In long relatively flat areas like Kansas , Florida I've gotten 40mpg .The only issue was a leaking air-conditioning hose. We travel quite a bit usually camping and the car fits us perfectly with enough cargo room for our equipment. The seats are comfortable enough for long drives without backaches or bottom getting numb. : ). As of 2/19/2021 We have over 46,000 miles on it .No issues with high oil consumption.

I bought the Jeep Renegade used with only 22,000 miles on it. I realized I made a big mistake purchasing this suv, after a month of having it. The issues were not starting up when it was cold old side. I would have to wait then press the auto start on keys to get car to start. The ignition coil went bad and needed to be replaced after 6 months. Had to also change all the spark plugs too. The tire pressure light came on after 9 months. It’s just been one thing after another. I would not recommend this small suv to anyone.

The 2017 Renegade has many problems. From the shutting down when driving to electrical problems making you unsure if you're going to make it to your destination without breaking down and sluggish taking off from a stop and harsh shifting from gear to gear. Chrysler has been taken to court for these problems in 2015 and apparently they didn't learn from the experience...this model is just as bad. Even after the recall fuel module replacement it still is sluggish and now the fuel mileage is worse.

The transmission on these cars is complete garbage, acceleration is non-existent, the clunky transmission is constantly jerking between gears, technology is completely obsolete compared to other 2017 base-level trims. Multiple trips to dealer to address transmission clunkiness and their excuse is always that these cars have an “adaptive transmission” that learns how you drive, so if you gun it to merge onto an interstate once, the car will assume you always drive that way. Good try, Jeep. The car looks cool, but performance is shoddy at best.

DON'T DO IT! I owned my Renegade for a year- commuting to and from work - a couple short road trips - nothing crazy. I don't race or take this car off road. Then the clutch gave out - with less than 11000 miles on it. I had bought the car with several warranties on it - only to learn that the clutch isn't covered at all under any of them. Also after shopping around to get the work done I learned that its such a poorly made part that no other shop will touch it since they can't guarantee the work. so now I'm being grossly over charged for the work with no other option. - I wouldn't recommend getting this car or working with the people that sell them

I've had my 2017 trailhawk in the dealership for warranty work nearly 30 times now. Had a transmission replacement at 1,500 miles, 8 software updates for the TCM, 2 TCM replacements, wiring harness replacement, valve body replacement, and 2 new sets of cooling fans. The transmission is still not right and begins slipping so bad that it goes into limp mode, at which point I only have 5th gear. Hopefully I can get an arbitration and a buy back.

Jeep Renegade Worst Auto ever

The rare post from me: I’ve owned 20 plus cars and had at least that many rentals. The Jeep Renegade is by far, no question, hands down, the absolute worst vehicle. From mpg to comfort to transmission to clicky oil sounds when all gauges and dip stick say it’s full. It’s under powered which explains part of the mpg fiasco (I got better mileage in an F250). But the worst, pull your hair out it’s so frustrating, is the Radio/Nav. The console does this weird press the up arrow to go down in the menu - thought that was quirky during the test drive - but the Radio/Nav....If its not getting you lost, it’s playing music from some random station you didn’t pick. And it has this Love/hate relationship with my smart phone: it loves to place random calls when you plug in and hates when you would rather listen to radio while plugged in. Just stay away from this poorly designed, from top to bottom, inside and out, 2017 Trail Rated Jeep Renegade. This is the worst (add expletives) automobile in the universe

I purchased a 2015 Jeep Renegade sport 1.4; the first new car I have ever, and probably will ever purchase. I purchased this car from Napleton in Elwood City, PA, this is where my terrible experience began. The salesman was not familiar with the vehicle and after expressing how important bluetooth /handsfree abilities were to me, he assured me it was bluetooth capable, even offering to set this feature up for me, I declined at this time as I was capable of doing so myself. It was only after purchasing the car and leaving the dealership that I realized it did not have this amenity. The dealership offered me an inadequate bluetooth adapter and a free detail, during the detail they broke the hood release and did not fix it or even mention it to me. You would understand that i have not and will not return to this dealership. The salesman also did not tell me this car was a turbo, making it a bit more difficult to service, though this was also my fault for lack of research. I recently had to replace the waste-gate hose. This was a scavenger hunt all on its own. Even with the VIN number, photo of the part within the car and part number, the very helpful parts associate at three rivers chrysler was unable to identify the needed part. It was only after a week of communicating with someone overseas and ordering 3 different parts in hopes of one being correct that we discovered which part it was. It was around this time I started having trouble with my vehicle shifting. After having it completely break down on me on the way home from work, I had it towed to three rivers where they told me I required a new clutch at only 58000 miles. As a person who seeks out manual transmission vehicles exclusively I have become very skilled at driving this type of vehicle. My last 3 manual transmission cars were still in operation at 130000+ miles. I purchased these vehicles used and never had to replace a clutch in any of them (Mitsubishi Lancer, Pontiac G5 and Ford Escort). To replace a clutch at 58000 on a vehicle that was purchased new is astounding to me and suggests a manufacturing or material error. After reading numerous reviews, I see that the clutch is an issue in this specific vehicle across the board. I feel slighted having to pay the cost of a new clutch because my car is not within the basic warranty in such a scenario and find it to be unfair as well as poor customer service. Moreso, I was told that since my car is outside of warranty I was responsible for paying for ECU updates. The customer is expected to pay for aftermarket updates to the computer?

She's still the one

I posted a positive review when my car was just over 1 year old. She's now at 50K miles in 2-1/2 years of driving. I still look forward to getting into my Renegade every day. Yesterday, I stowed 2 push mowers in the hatch area with no issue (rear seats down, of course). I've had only one issue so far. I noticed about 6 months ago that I was starting to hear some front end noise over bumps, nothing too intrusive, just a little extra thumping. I got the car up on a lift and discovered that I had some play in my stabilizer links. Picked up 2 new ones for $60 and installed them myself. Voila, problem gone. I've done about 10 oil changes to date and replaced all four original tires this past winter for a very reasonable price since I have the 16" alloy wheels and 16" tires happen to be rather inexpensive these days. All in all, I couldn't be happier, especially for the price I paid. This little turbo four motor is a hoot and the clutch is still holding up great on my Jeepie. It's really a shame they stopped offering the manual trans. That was the best version of the Renegade - top shelf motor and tranny. Even my dealer service guy told me I did a nice job choosing the 1.4T, he says they rarely have problems with that engine.

While the Trailhawk has capability, it's best use is suburban and not for urban or rural living. Engine appears to run hot but according to gages, it is normal. The transmission is noisy and sluggish on shifting and acceleration. Gas milage is only fair. Cargo capacity is very limited. The full size spare tire is a excellent attribute. GPS option and Sirius radio option are recommended. Backup lights are of poor illumination and higher intensity of LED lights throughout the vehicle, including interior, are recommended.

I bought a 2017 Renegade Desertawk. The Deserthawk isn't on the Jeep menu with Edmunds. So I am reviewing the Trailhawk mostly the same but the Deserthawk has a few more features. I prefered. The rene will crawl rocks, take you to town, cruise the highway, work, riding desert sand dunes or getting dirty in mud. I sold my Rubicon it was not comfortable enough and the confort features were missing. That's the true rugged. In the rene I have it all. I can rock crawl on weekends to the beats premium sound. it rides nice. Turning is tight. Take off the roof panels enjoy the sun. I have the touch screen for navigation, media, everything. Lots of room in cargo area in back. Back seats fold down makes for great interior space. This for me replaced the wonderful Jeep Liberty. Fewer downsides, gas mileage isn't great. I'm getting on average 17 to the gallon. The engine is peppy. I don't feel low power but when I hard accelerate it sucks gas. Stay off the pedal more and fuel consumption about 20. It's heavy and my tires are on the larger side adds weight. We love Jeeps because of the incredible range to build our own design. The real gem is affordable fun!! These are catching on sort went unnoticed. I suspect costs could go up on used. There are rene clubs on facebook for support and share. Jeep is a culture with cool people of all ages. The Jeep brand is a social community.

It’s one thing after the next. 42000 miles and has been in the shop several times. It seriously has a problem monthly. This month my window locks don’t work and the heated seats, back defrost and steering wheel heat come on automatically when I start it. When you pull out and make a sharp Turn it literally almost stops. My taillight went out last month not the bulb the entire system. 350$. Bought this new and have regretted it ever since. Don’t buy.

Best Jeep I have ever owned.

I recently got rid of my terrible Patriot and upgraded to the 2.4 L Jeep Renegade Limited. The interior is incredible! Gray leather seats, with orange and brown accents. Leather wrapped heated steering wheel, heated seats, an AC outlet in the back seat,... I do ride share and literally everyone who gets in my car compliments the interior. I was surprised how fast it can take off compared to my patriot and the loaner 2018 Jeep Compass I had. There’s a bit of a delay when you push the gas petal but It will throw you back in your seat once it takes off. Gas mileage isn’t very great, but anyone who owns a Jeep knows that Jeeps are not known for their great gas mileage. All in all, this is my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’m so happy to have purchased this car. It’s at about 50k miles right and not a single problem or sign of an issue that I can see. Keeping my fingers crossed. My patriot was a nightmare.

I love almost everything about this vehicle. The few complaints I have are minor. There are no cup holders for the backseat. The two for the front seat are in the center console and mainly in the way. The center console is positioned too far back to be used comfortably. Other than those things; I love my Renegade :)
