Throttle malfunction dilemma

Leased this vehicle in January 2008. Have had 2 episodes of "throttle malfunction" where accelerator pedal sticks to the floor and vehicle speeds out of control. Dealer has had vehicle back 3 times and can't duplicate the problem so now vehicle sits in my driveway because no repairs have been made and I feel it's not safe to drive. Unfortunately I've had to hire a Lemon Law Attorney to help me break this lease and rid myself of an obviously unsafe vehicle to drive. The vehicle has stored codes that reflect this malfunction.

Get Ready To Fix Things That Don’t Stay Fixed.

Get ready to dump money into it than what it’s actually worth! I bought my 2008 Liberty with 120,000 miles. In 2 years it’s sitting at 138,000.. 4x4 is USELESS in this vehicle.. It goes out, even if you DON’T USE IT. My 4x4 went out 2 months after I bought it. I didn’t even use it. (It’s was early September in Iowa, it was still nice out and I don’t abuse my vehicles -mudding, off-roading-) The 4x4 lights kicked on after driving 2 hours North to South Dakota. My dash lit up like a Christmas Tree. The dealer “split” the cost of the fix which was wildly annoying, it was still $1,000 out of MY pocket while I’m STILL PAYING ON IT, BUT WHATEVER.. I used the 4x4 ONE TIME after it got “fixed” when winter hit. That was it. Roll around to summer.. I was on the interstate and the lights popped on again.. The 4x4 went out AGAIN... Called the dealership and they said it wasn’t even worth fixing. If I wanted to fix it, it would be upwards of $3,000! My heat went out within the first year I owned it, got that fixed for $500, and then when that summer rolled around, the AIR CONDITIONING didn’t work.. (I haven’t even bothered) I’ve had my break pads and that whole system “fixed”... Balljoints replaced.. Still squeaks.. I’ve only had my Jeep almost 2 years this coming July... Now the computer is going out. When I go to turn my key to start it, it acts like it’s going to start, but gets stuck in an on/off position and it rattles the motor. I am beyond mad because I JUST paid it off.... It isn’t even worth fixing and I’m currently looking for another vehicle! This vehicle has been nothing but a money pit! The gas is also bad, you might as well buy a truck for how much gas this thing guzzles. I bought the Jeep FOR the 4x4 since Jeeps seems to be the only things with 4x4 and I’ve heard nothing but great things about Jeeps... (all wheel drive is the standard it seems for most other companies on SUV’s and AWD is a joke in my opinion) .. but from this experience, I am good on the Jeep front. I will look for something with Front Wheel and wash my hands of this. Such a horrible experience with this vehicle! My 2000 Jetta was better than this thing! I bought that used for $2500 and it lasted me for 5 years at least! Good lord. And the only reason I got rid of the Jetta is because the part were too expensive if something went wrong and the oil changes were $120 a pop. (I don’t recommend Volkswagen either while I’m at it, they’re too expensive to fix and maintain!) lol. Lesson learned, doing my Homework this time around!!!!! (I bought my Liberty from a reputable dealership, by the way, not some place that buys auction cars) be careful and do research before wasting your money.

Liberty Limited

Compared to other small Utes, the Liberty Limited has them beat. Little things, such as: Memory Seating, easy exit, remote start. Put this rig above the rest. The V-6 is lack-luster and it doesn't get great mileage in town, but I got 23 MPG on a 2000 mile trip. The seats are very comfortable and even though the foot wells seem crowded, there is plenty of room and I'm a big Norwegian. I had a 4x4 Escape before and thought that was a great car, but the features, such as: 4 wheel disk brakes and real 4x4 put he Escape to shame. The Jeep didn't even cost any more than the Ford. It rides well and runs great. Looks good too!

My wife & I just returned an 06 Pacific and picked up a black Liberty Sport w/ the Sky-Slider roof. I have an 06 Liberty and the difference is incredible! The ride is much more car- like and the interior is a bit a lot more comfortable. Love the interior spare tire too and the cargo compartment under the read deck. My wife has been driving it now for the past few days and she's had the roof open every time that I've seen her. For the extra $1200, get the sky- Slider!

Jeep is a great make. This is my fourth; had '94 and '96 Cherokees and a '98 Grand. My 2008 Ltd Liberty is the best. Driving position is excellent. Interior/exterior design is superb. Daily commute mpg is 19-20 mpg. Steering was a bit over-responsive at first, but I like it after 2000 miles. Get the cargo area plastic tray from Mopar; fits perfectly and it can be easily removed to shake out dirt/mulch. Braking is sure and even. Outside mirrors are overlarge - great for backing-up. Recommend the sun-roof, no problems with leaking in car washes. Sound system is best I ever owned. Get inferno-red, looks great! Transmission can be a bit growly when accelerating uphill, must be the gearing.
