Great Vehicle
This is a great vehicle. It's all that I hoped it would be. So far, no mechical problems what so ever. Fuel economy has remained constant. I have a 2002 YM.
Who's got the keys to my Jeep? BeepBeep
I absolutely love my new Jeep Liberty. I got it only 2 days ago October 25th. It is everything I could have wanted and more. I have so much fun driving my new Jeep. It handles so well, I hardly notice the bumps, a really smooth ride. They say it is the best Jeep ever and it is true.

super fun
Love that Liberty! Not noisy like the Wrangler, not big and tippy like the Grand Cherokee, but rather its quick, nimble, agile, stable, and solid. As I read on Edmunds: if you're looking at the Freelander but want a "capable" vehicle, buy a liberty.
Mom's Day Gift
My husband bought me this year for Mother's Day. I had done all of the research and looked at all of the SUV's out there. I trust the Jeep name, so went with the Liberty Sport. I LOVE LOVE LOVE driving it. It took a while to get used to being a bit higher up than I was in my old car...but so far so good. It is a HUGE gas hog...I am most suprised by how little a tank of gas goes. It steers easy, the CD player plays great...no skips over bumps. Love the tinted windows (and I had to be talked into that!) Kids seem to like sitting in it too. More room inside that it looks. Can't wait to take a road trip in it!
Long Live Liberty!!!!!!!!!!!!!
New Liberty is fun to drive and gets a lot of interest on the streets. Powerful and responsive. Love all the options and 3.7L 4X4 with 210 horses under the hood! Got mine with a 7 year 70K bumper to bumper for 19,700! Drove Sante Fe, Escape and Tribute.....nothing compares to the Liberty.....Great job JEEP!
expectations fulfilled
automatic transmission is as smooth as any sedan I've driven (hope it stays that way); quick steering; firm and controlled ride - better ride on the pavement than expected. gas mileage might be better, but I don't expect that with 210 hp V6 and auto trans./4 wd- I drive all highway miles and have been avg. 20.5 miles a gallon on regular gas. suits me. I don't think of my Liberty as purely an SUV it's a JEEP sort of phenomenon. hehe. Oh by the way I'm 42.
BEST OF THE BEST
This is the must fun-to-ride vehicle I ever had, either on the sand or mud and of course on-road it's behavior is incredible. I use to go off-road every weekend, and it's a shame (for the other owners) but I had been paid for towing expensive Cadillacs, fords and others "4X4" SUV's.
My favorite vehicle ever!
After many weeks of shopping around for a mini-suv this was absolutely THE best choice for the money. I looked at the Honda Element, and the CR-V, but they didn't compare to what the Liberty offered. The Element failed because it had only 4 seats and the front seat belts were tied into the suicide doors. The CR-V was too small, had under-whelming power and was too expensive.
First 90 days, and counting
No problems yet. Only concern is smallish cockpit area. Fuel economy is not great and the tank is so much smaller than my Grand Cherokee was I am at the gas Station too often.I was concerned with cargo space but it is actually larger than it looks. Exterior tire is attracting vandals (punctured tire cover in the first two weeks!). Lack of cross rails on the roof was suprising, just another way to get more money out of us!! Engine is a little loud but at least it sounds good.
i love my first jeep
first jeep love it, even if gas miles aren't so great i'll go back to buying another jeep product, feels just as good quality as my 95 4ruuner if not better
2003 Jeep Liberty
I've had the vehicle for about 7 weeks and it has performed well. The towing capacity is better then my friend's Ford 150 2WD pickup. Motor is strong. Solid truck. Unlike the undercarriage componets of the Ford Escape, Honda CRV/Element. I felt they were too car-ish. Not suitable for the trails or offroad.
GREAT CAR FEW PROBLEMS
I purchased my liberty after doing a lot of research. I already knew about the gas milage but I was willing to compromise. It had everything I wanted at the right price. I have had just one problem. Since I have had the car it's staled on me 3 times while parking.
Boredom
I have been very happy since buying my jeep liberty freedom edition. I wish that the cross bars on the roof rack came with the vehicle standard instead of an accessory. With the manual transmission, a drink in the front cup holder hits your hand on the 1st to 2nd gear shift. I don't like the auto door lock feature. These are the only things I could think of that could use attention, and it took a while to come up with them. I would definitely buy the liberty again.
Utah Road Trip
On a summer off-road trip through scenic Utah with my wife, Liberty's performance was flawless. Our 3.7- liter effortlessly crawled up rocks that had claimed a variety of paint chips from other vehicles before us. Throughout the entire tour over hot rocky terrain we remained comfortable in our well air-conditioned cockpit. I even caught my wife letting go of the "Oh My God" passenger handle up front several times. Most non-luxury SUV buyers want true off-road capability to be coupled with a coupe- like ride to work everyday. Jeep has finally addressed this dichotomy with the affordable Liberty.
Best Vehicle Ever
I have owned many vehicles, domestic and import, but the new Liberty is by far the best ever. There have been NO defects in over 6 months of driving. I have gotten up to 24MPG hwy and overall about 18MPG (more than I expected). Fit and finish rivals anything in its class. My wife had refused to drive it before I bought it, but now I can't get her out of it. AWD option delivers peace of mind on pavement.
Fun with Liberty
This SUV is really lots of fun to drive. Good visibility and an amazing turning radius. The seats feel hard at first, but offers good support. Lots of cargo room. What happened to the cross bars on the roof rails? My Jeep Grand Cherokee has them. The Liberty is a civilized Wrangler in many ways. It feels like a junior verson of the Grand Cherokee Laredo. Many similar controls.
Love it, but...
I have had my Liberty Sport for about 2.5 years now and really like it. It is fun to drive and has a good deal of room.
Jeep Convert
This is my first Jeep, and it made a convert out of me. The engine has plenty of "pep" and it's ready to fly with the mere feathering of the gas pedal. The MPG is pretty decent - between 25 - 30+ after some ZMax. Which is fantastic for such a heavy 4x4. Heavy Northern Winters aren't a problem at all. I love to head out in conditions that keep the plows garaged and I've yet to get stuck or have to slow down. All in all, I love this Jeep more than anything and I plan on keeping it until it dies or is rusted beyond recognition. Plenty of ample cargo space as well, even if we only take up half a parking space in this little thing! Yet somehow it's very spacious on the inside.
Loved my Jeep but she is no more...
I absolutely loved my Liberty. Fun to drive, loved the moon roof, leather heated seats (especially in the winter time.) I have, however, rolled it. It rolled about 1.5 times. I just really wanted to say I would buy a Liberty again just for the simple fact that I walked away from the accident. The accident was only 5 days ago and I have very little pain, soreness but completely bearable. Granted, I was wearing my seatbelt and I am young. Felt safe and would recommend the Liberty.
Quick nimble little SUV
Not the best on gas milage but will get you there no matter which route you take

Freedom Edition is the best.
I love this Jeep, I have always been a Wrangler guy, but they are not the most practical for everyday use. This Liberty fits the bill, seats four comfortably and has some storage; also it is a JEEP. Will go almost anywhere which is the point of 4 wheel drive and the gas mileage is far better than the Wrangler I had previously. I highly recommend this vehicle.
Jeep owner for life
I love my Jeep. I had a Cherokee and loved it too and when it came time to retire her, I needed another. Sadly, she went extinct and was replaced with the Liberty. I don't love the curved styling and wish they would have stuck with the "Traditional Jeep" style but its still a Jeep and it acts like one. Back seat not so comfy. Fun to drive. Great storage. Gas mileage sucks- about 15 mpg. No problems with reliability. Only maintenance performed so far- I don't expect anything major till about 100k. I would definitely buy another IF gas weren't such an issue. I am going to possibly trade her in, but it will be for her gas friendly sibling the Patriot. It's a Jeep thing and we know it!
The Car for All Seasons
Don't mistake this for another "Cute- Ute". It is solid Jeep through and through and a major improvement in all respects over its Cherokee ancestor (I've had three of those.) Handling and power, on-road and off, is exceptional, and with the Limited Edition G Package, it has all the luxury features that the most discriminating consumer could desire. I've only had mine for three weeks, but I can say that I've never had another vehicle that so effectively combines urban practicality, expressway performance, and go-anywhere off-road capability.
DON't BUY THIS VEHICLE
Bought the vehicle in July 2001. It took 3 trips to fix the vehicle from pulling to the right as yoy dive. I has been in for 3 times because of no heat. 1 time they said a hose was put on wrong at the factory the other time they said there was "air" in the system. It is now having a problem with the air bag light statyin on. They say it is a seat belt clip that neeeds to be ordered and then It will have to go in to be installed and they are not sure that will correct the proble, So now I am driving with no air bag protection. Not to mention a recall. In short DON"T BUY ONE!
Do Not Buy
From the time I purchased this vehicle a year ago, it has been nothing but trouble. I have had problems with the alignment (four adjustments), worn out shocks, power window and door locks, and have recently had to get new brakes. I am not at all rough on this vehicle. It was built poorly, and I would not recommend the Liberty to anyone. Go for an Eplorer or Sante Fe instead. I have had it in 11 times this year. That is ridiculous for a new vehicle. Do yourself a favor and do not buy a Liberty.
Capable Adolescent Design
Our Liberty has been generally tackling all of our transportation/cargo needs for the past 6 months. Gas mileage (20mpg hw) is unfortunate, but a known trade-off for heavy duty suspension. The vehicle sufferes from a handful of rather obnoxious details, most outlined below. Three cheers to Chrysler for designing a nice hybrid of suburban and off-road SUV traits. Three bronx cheers to Chrysler for overlooking so many silly, correctable details, and then leaving them uncorrected in 2003.
My Liberty
I didn't like the Liberty's when they first came out, but I took one for a test drive, and bought it a few days later.
interrior
seats are cloth and must not have been scotguarded as cleaning them with plain water leaves a stain as large as the water applied have had them steamed cleaned once and they need it again i have alway been able to keep my vechile seats clean but not these seats also interrior lights flash on and off while driving and all door are shut other than that i like my jeep but if the seat ploblem is common to this vechile i would not buy another one i reguested cloth seats because i have children an do not care for leather
Lemon City
I have owned my Jeep Liberty Limited for 14 mos. It has 38,000 miles on it. I have done routine maintenance as directed. 2 wks ago, driving at 35 MPH, it started to vibrate and quit running on the side of the road. Come to find out, the 5th Cylinder has Zero Compression/100% Leakage and the Head needs replaced. Since then, it has been found to need replacement of the Piston and Cam. This is completely unacceptable major failure in a vehicle, that is suppose to be known for its reliability. That is why I bought it. I made my $550/mo payment and can not even drive it. Pathetic.
