I purchased my Jeep Liberty about 4 or 5 years ago. I haven't driven it all that much. I'm in Michigan so it's a northern vehicle with the usual rust. The repairs. Oh my gosh, the repairs. The list goes on. You get one thing fixed, and two days later, it's something else! Just spent $600 a week ago for back brakes, and now the tracker bar is loose or something, got that "Jeep death wobble". But, it's also sat a lot, too. In the last 5 years, I've maybe driven it 10-15,000 miles so that could account for it. It's pretty reliable, no major breakdowns where I couldn't drive it. Make sure you are in park when you put it in 4 wheel drive, otherwise you'll be stuck overpaying at some out of town repair shop that'll charge you $900 instead of $300 to fix the drive shaft. When when I blew that, i was still able to drive it 75 miles to a shop in a town I was familiar with. I was out of state. The interior is great, and it's fun to drive. I love my jeep, I don't want to give it up. Gas mileage sucks, but on the highway you'll get pretty close to 18 MPG. It'd be nice to get more than 275 miles out of a tank of gas (About 13 gallons) Overall, I don't regret my jeep purchase. I got it cheap, and I knew it had a few issues. I only paid like $1500 for it in 2015!

My first Jeep, love the look, the interior was comfortable, gas mileage average. Tight steering, needs a little more hp in certain situations. Never had more compliments on a car before, in particular the color, salsa red, hot! Drawbacks, 2 big ones, the engine blew at 40,000 miles, never off road with it, oil changed every 3000. Good thing for the warranty, the bill was almost $9000. But the craziest thing about this car, is the battery, I have had 10 or more batteries since I bought it. Every time I take it in for service, they say its normal! Batteries last 12 to 18 months, that's a new one on me. Overall, I'm buying a new Jeep, with the skyslider roof!

We recently sold our 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport 4x4 but only because we wanted to purchase a hybrid before gas prices rise again. We still miss it, especially when we see another one in town! The only mechanical work required besides regular maintenance and new tires occurred at the end of a vacation. It lost all power and wouldn't remain running, the locks were possessed, power steering gone, no radio, etc. It turns out it only needed a new battery! The only area that could use improvement is in highway handling (keeping it on the road). My husband had more difficulty with this than I did but sometimes it was exhausting to drive at 65 mph and above, especially if there was a crosswind.

This is only the second American car I've had, and I went from a 2000 BMW 323 to the Liberty. I was afraid of the change, but the Liberty is great. The only other SUV I've had is a Pathfinder, and it doesn't even compare to the Liberty. So far I've only had one small issue (a noisy fan) that's getting looked at next week. Overall, I'm definitely a happy camper.
