Never again!
I bought a 2007 Grand Cherokee last April with only 54K miles on it. Within 6K miles the rear differential went and I had to have the rear axel replaced at the cost of $2K. Then a module went for my tranny to the tune of $1300. Then the battery recently went and I'm having issues with my dashboard lights constantly flashing. My mechanic is at his wits end with the flashing so if anyone has had this happen and they know what caused it please post the solution. I have owned Jeeps before but I will never buy one again. I am going back to owning a Toyota.
You cant put a 3.7 engine in a heavy vehicle
I own a v6 3.7. I love the body style. The car rides smooth and is t rough. The interior is nice and firm and doesnt seem cheap like it could break at any time. The problem with this vehicle is the engine. I didn't realize when i bought the car how having a v6 could be worse on gas than having a v8. Right now im getting about 15mpg. I live in PA and drive back roads all the time so the car is constantly down shifting because it doesn't have enough power to do anything. When your on the highway cruising its great until you need to get on it and pass someone. The rpms need to get up to about 4k before it gets any hp. Along with the bad engine design comes the transmission. When the engineers had this car tested for mpg they must of realized it wasnt good so they set the computer up to have to transmission shift as soon as it possibly can. Ill be cruising down the road and come up to a hill and press down on the gas to get some speed and rather than staying in the gear its in, or better yet downshift so i can get up the hill, it upshifts into a higher gear then a second later realizes it needs more power and then downshifts. It frustrating when i know i need it to downshift for more power and it upshifts instead.

2006-07 NAV system is garbage
Bought a used Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited- under warranty, and the DVD nav system is pretty poor. the maps loaded up from factory doesn't show neighborhoods that have been in use since the 80's, new roads since the 80's, etc. The Dealer update DVD -$200 doesn't guarantee the date of the maps either. The Ebay version - watch out! IF they're selling the original OEM, it still doesn't help. I have the SUV under warranty and the maps are not covered! I can't warn you enough about how poor Chrysler/Jeep did with this arrangement - customer is always cheated -no complete maps when new, $200 update has no guarantees! My $80 Tom Tom surpasses this junk system.
4WD Hemi Heaven
If you thought that USA was out of the auto race you are wrong. This is one classy vehicle. A solid, well built true 4WD Jeep that includes every option known to man. Plenty of room inside, nicely arranged for maximum comfort. Wilt Chamberlain will not be comfortable in the back seat, leg room is tight for tall folks. Put him in the front, and turn on the heated seats. He will be happy. The Hemi will impress you with it's power. I would highly recommend this vehicle.
Grand Cherokee Hemi
The Hemi engine option is the way to go. The power is smooth along with the ride. The ride is very car-like and the end of the year deals made it a great buy. It is slightly lower and less roomy than our 2004 Mountaineer but the redesign in 2005 improved the Jeep. Handles well, gas mileage down but that is because I like the exhaust sound and the ability to go with it being new and not broken in yet (only 300 miles on the odometer). The navigation system and Sirius radio helps along with the standard remote start system makes this SUV a standout. Drive the 4.7 V8 first and then drive the Hemi - you will be sold.
