Worst piece of #$%& I ever owned. Problems @ 25K miles when I was told that the mean time before failure (MTBF) was rated @ 27K miles- very poor.

I bought this Jeep used with 128,000 miles. This one has the Inline 6. I have only put a couple hundred miles on it but it seems to run great. I cant believe how good the body is holding up. No exterior rust yet. The only issue i have with it is the transmission has a very slight leak. When I park I see one or two drops of tranny fluid on the ground. After a tranny flush and new seal, no more leak. In the past I have never been a Chrysler fan and still am not. But this vehicle so far is my exception. I like it and I could NOT pass up the deal I got on it. So far, no major complaints. Overall satisfied. I know several people that got 300,000 miles on the inline 6. Hope I do also.

I have owned this jeep since 97 and it has been extremly reliable. Maintenance is the key as with all jeeps. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Where do I start, I traded my 92 Camaro Z28 for the 97 Jeep TSi model and noted its capabilty for winter driving right off. It is a good snow/off road vehicle. I bought the vehicle at 36000 miles and to date have racked up 105000 miles. The only major problem that I had was Transmission slipping when the unit got hot. Had put the car into the shop twice with "no trouble found" (had transmission serviced second time for $400). Started slipping 6 months later and this time I burned the transmission out (on purpose). Had the transmission replaced at a cost of $2800 (1 new Jasper transmission and labor). Now it runs smooth as silk. I love it.

What a SUV is supposed to be!

I've tried to get stuck in several wild places with this jeep...to no avail. The 4X4 system on these is the best in the world. Wish I could have said that about my Ford explorer or should I say Exploder-the car has 12 repairs in 1 month. All of them major and over $400 each. Ouch! The vehicle just died at 60k. Not my jeep though. I've driven it over 145,000 miles and have had to do very minor repairs. (Brakes, trans.service, belts, hoses, tires, etc) I plan to drive this car for more than 1,000,000 miles. I believe it will make it.
