Used 2018 Jeep Compass Consumer Reviews
ALL THE NOPE. WORST DECISION EVER.
I bought my 2018 Jeep Compass Sport with 5k from the dealership.. engine started stalling around 18k and was told to start an oil consumption test.. oil stick was dry when i took it in initially.. 2 follow up visits i was told everything was fine.. fast forward 6 months to having the entire engine replaced due to excessive oil consumption and overheating. I haven't put 2k miles on it since the engine replacement and I'm going in again today( a month after the engine replacement) for another diagnosis.. Issues ranging from - Auto start/stop isn't working with dashboard warning lights. RPM acceleration is aggressive and jerky. Running loudly. Just over 31k miles and I've already had the engine replaced with the above issues + these new probs. Do not buy this vehicle.

So Many NO's
I have had problems with the heated seats not coming on, odometer flashing, trying to find a gas station that pumps slow enough, the windshield wipers won't that let you adjust the speed so they go annoyingly fast, the stop/start that is so slow to start back up, and now leading up to it not starting back up at all and I have to completely turn my car off and back on at an intersection to get the engine to go again... let alone these are just problems I have had in the first year!

Oil consumption,Marginal Batteries,U-Connect Issue
There are always bugs to be worked out for the first/second year production run and now even 3rd year run. Visit myjeepcompass.com to hear experiences from 2017.5 - 2019 owners. FIRST and foremost check your oil every 1,000 miles !!! I cannot stress this enough. Our 2018 2.4L Auto/2wd Sport Model with Appearance and Tech. build date of 1.2018 had some oil consumption. I kept an extremely close eye on it and never let it go down below the “Low” mark. When it did, straight to the dealer, they opted to change the oil instead of adding. so 3 oil changes before 10,000 miles. now it seems like i will only have to add about 1/2 qt before the "dealer strongly suggested" 5000k oil change. Other issues are sub-par batteries or battery control module (IBS) for both the engine and Start/Stop (ESS) system and U-Connect quirks. Some of the 2019/20’s continue to have most if not all of these issues. The U-Connect issues are mainly random blank screens on start-up but working 2-3 minutes later and A/C settings changing on its own when getting back in, its not consistent enough to bring it in until FIAT (NOT a Jeep) finds a permanent solution. The start/stop not working is new and going into the dealer soon. Other than that it’s a perfect fit for our needs, beautiful SUV, comfortable, quiet, 31-34 hwy mpg’s and surprisingly ample cargo room for stuff. Luckily the wife drives only 6k a year, so these issues aren’t too annoying/concerning (yet). Buy with CAUTION or even better LEASE it instead.

Done with it.
We have been leasing a 2018 Compass for 2 years. It will be returned to the dealer today at lease end. Too many electrical gremlins creeping up with less than 8000 miles. First of all, we hated that auto stop/start feature that shuts the engine off at stop lights. First of all, I have to believe that whatever money you save on gas will be spent on buying a new starter before long. Anyway, for our type of driving, mostly short trips around town, it's a pain in the butt. Yes you can shut it off but you have to push a button EVERY time you start it. And not longer after we got the Jeep it would periodically not work. The dash would say not ready, battery charging. Yet the battery gauge showed 14 volts. Or an orange light would come on meaning we should get it serviced. So we called the dealer, they said oh we can't diagnose it unless the light is on when you bring it here. And of course it won't be on then. Plus they said it's probably just cold outside. But it still acts up in 85 degree weather. A couple times the dash said the parking brake needed service, though it was working just fine. Again, dealer says it probably just too cold out. Bring it in when the message shows again. Of course you can't make it do it on demand. This is a Jeep, isn't supposed to work good in cold climates? And finally, while a minor thing, the gear selector under the shift lever is supposed to light up red showing what gear you are in. Now that is sometimes working, sometimes not. Just too many error messages showing up with so few miles. We get the feeling there will be more problems, so we're getting rid of it. Going to a Nissan Rogue. For about the same amount of money you can get a much better equipped, better riding car with much better features. We traded a 2014 Compass for that which had all kinds of problems. Premature rusting. Some sort of remote control module for the starter went bad, costing us over $1000 to fix. Darn car rattled every time you went over a bump right from the start. Dealer looked at it and said we can't find anything wrong. No more Jeeps for us!
