New Lat Plus- great so far
If you need the V6, you’re apparently off-road a lot in terrain or are a much more aggressive driver than I am commuting. I do 75-80 on the way to work (30 mi) and am averaging 27 mpg (80% hwy) with the 2.4 engine. RPMs sit right at 2,000 cruising, lower than the Escape and Sportage. If you need a comfortable, affordable vehicle, consider the 2.4 model and drive others to compare. 184 HP is plenty unless you want to tow >2,000 lbs or do 90 all the time. Also, trans is so smooth compared to ‘14-15 complaints. Love the 8.4 UConnect. Hope I get an easy 100k out of this Jeep as it’s far too early to assess reliability. So far though, my favorite vehicle of 7 I’ve owned since 2000 and the only truck, car, or SUV I’ve reviewed. $5,000+ in rebates made it an absolute no brained.

Great value
2018 Jeep Cherokee is a reliable vehicle that offers great value. The headlights are bright and offer good viability at night, the suspension is solid and the ride comfortable. While many have issues with the way the front end looks, I for one love the until recently no other SUV looks like it.

The V6 are good, at least.
I bought a 2018 Cherokee latitude. It's a mixture of great and disappointing. The look, interior, and base model features are above average. It looks good, the inside is spacious and comfortable, the Bluetooth connectivity and backup cam are nice semi-modern touches, and it's nice to sit it. Unfortunately, the engine is not great. The 2.4L V4 is sluggish, under powered, and frustrating. It's fine for basic commutes where you never go over 45mph. However, the car has no pep, no get-up-and-go, and at higher speeds, you really have to push it to pass slower cars on the freeway. I wouldn't recommend the V4 Jeep Cherokee models if you have a choice. The V6 (preferably all wheel drive) feels like an actual jeep. However, you can get the slow, meandering engine from any brand with better tech features and better gas mileage for a better price. I did not enjoy this car and traded it in as soon as I could.

My Brownstone Beauty
For a MRSP of over $43,000, the car should include a CD player. I didn't notice it did not have one until taking it home. Also, never buy the extended warrantee at the time of purchase, as a better offer will come from Chrysler/Mopar shortly. In fact, I have had multiple better offers than the one I purchased from the dealer. I have gotten used to the feel of an SUV and would not like to go back to a regular car. Please read the extended service contract. You must have the required maintenance done at the proper dealer for warrantee to stand. Other than that, I love the luxury feel and safety features of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee Overland. I'm looking forward to driving my first SUV for many years. I still love my Overland after 6 1/2 years. I have not had any problems with it except for a new battery due to noticing stop/start gas saver was not working. That does suck the life out of the battery. I turn the stop/start off when I think of it.

Dipping my toes in luxury
Seven months driving my Jeep Cherokee and I’m still loving it. This is the first time I’ve had leather with heated and ventilated seats, and I haven’t been disappointed by them. I especially love the heated seats and steering wheel coming on automatically when the temps are really low. I didn’t have a need for 3rd row seat, but I had to have a 6 cylinder engine after being underwhelmed by 4 cylinder cars in the past. Unfortunately, V6 engines are getting harder to find in midsize cars and crossovers. I’m not super impressed with the power of the V6 Cherokee’s engine climbing hills, so I can imagine the 4 must be sluggish. The controls for radio and heat/air need to be easier to operate while driving. There are buttons for controlling the temp but most of the controls are in the touchscreen which requires too much visual contact to fool with while driving. I would also recommend Jeep make the active drive setting default to off rather than on. Aside from those operational critiques, I love the fit and finish. The cabin is quiet and handling is great. It’s a fun car to drive.
Very happy with this jeep
Have the V6 for towing. Very comfortable car, quiet and smooth ride on the highway. Get about 25 mpg on the highway going 75 mph, and 22 mpg around town or combined. So far no complaints. Shifts can be a little strange sometimes especially when starting up, but they smooth out after warming up.

GOOD JEEP
The car is very driver friendly. The cruise control is very responsive. If the passenger seat was identical to the driver's seat, the Jeep would have been great. After two long trips to Florida, we experienced a comfortable ride. Highway mileage is great but city mileage is only fair. There is a problem with Jeep. When driving in snow/icy conditions, one needs to keep the sensors from icy up. When they do, automatic braking is activated. This is no fun on the interstate.

Beware
I purchased my Jeep last year brand new. It hasn’t been a year yet and it’s cut off on me 3 times already. The truck only has 19,000 miles on it! The 1st time it cut off I was at a stop light, the 2nd time I was at a stop sign, the 3rd time my vehicle was moving in traffic and it stopped. I had to call a tow truck and get towed to the dealership I purchased it from. As soon as the tow truck driver got there he wasn’t at all surprised about what was going on. His response was, I’ve been towing so many of these cars. He said that seems like they just shut off when you’re almost or overdue for an oil change! That’s craziest thing I’ve ever heard of! My car will cut off if I’m “almost” due for an oil change. So the dealership kept my car and looked at it for a couple of days. The got back to me and guess what they had to say... We went ahead and did your oil change and topped you off.. It looks like your engine is going through oil way to fast because your engine stick was completely dry! I can’t believe that this has happened to me. The tow truck driver was right!

I wanted to love it.
Bought our ‘18 Cherokee Limited from a Jeep dealer as a certified pre-owned in Sept ‘18. It is May ‘19 & we have traded it despite negative equity because of the maintenance hassles. Had to have it towed twice because the engine shut down. According to the dealer (the second time), that happens if the oil is too low. First problem - there were never any warning lights to indicate a problem. Second problem - a check of the instruments showed greater than 30% oil life both times. Third problem - we were not warned about this feature when purchased or the first time it stalled out in traffic. The second time it was towed, the dealer “didn’t have time to do an oil change, but put a couple quarts in, no charge.” This was when they told me that the stalling was just a safety feature. How is it safe to stall out in a busy highway with no warning? The final issue was that two of the tires had to have air added at least twice a week. These were the original manufacturer installed tires. The dealer offered to make a deal on new ones, but washed their hands of doing more, even though we found & reported the issue in the first two weeks of ownership. This was a fun car to drive, is beautiful, and handles like a dream. Wasn’t worth all the aggravations & feats of it stalling again with no warning. And the gas mileage if you’re a heavy driver? Not good.

2018 Cherokee Overland - I'm in Love
Had a 2015 Cherokee Limited, and liked it, but the 18 Overland is a real winner. Quieter, smoother, better seats. And I love the safety tech and the way the 4x4 sits up on the road. Happy, happy owner. And still extremely happy one year later. Great road trip car!

Beyond expectations
I actual have the 3.2L V6 Limited 4X4 trim version with heated front leather seats and steering wheel, dual zone climate control, BSM, Rear cross-traffic alert, Back up sensors, back-up camera, and automatic start stop. It totally has went above and beyond my expectations, I was a bit hesitant at first with the 9 speed transmission cause I had rented a 200 when they first came out with 9 speed, but it’s great in the Cherokee. I love the styling mines white with the the black cladding, I blacked out all the Crome and dipped the rims black. Acceleration, comfort, driving aid and entertainment are all great, but one major thumbs down is there is still no apple car-play in an 18 come onnnn. Would totally buy it again next the overland though.

2.4l has a nasty history of oil consumption
My wife leases this car and after 1.5 years i cannot wait to get rid of it. To begin it burns oil like crazy, 1 quart every 2,500 - 3,000 miles. When factoring that a typical engine using full synthetic oil should get 10,000 miles/change (Conservative), jeep recommends every 6,000 miles. I called the dealership about the excessive oil consumption and they told me with the 2.4L that 2,500 to 3,000 is actually NORMAL! In my opinion a car with less than 10,000 miles, it should not be burning oil like a 20 yr old car with 200K+ miles on it. I was told that if i was burning more than a quart of oil every 800 miles than they would do a engine swap after they preform their testing. (A quart of oil every 800 miles is by no means a reliable car). The worst part is that this oil consumption issues with the 2.4L has been an issue since 2015 and they still use this engine in new models. In addition, for a near top of the line model of this car, the interior is rather disappointing. Seats are narrow, no room for a passenger with a rear facing car seat, and i cant imagine a forward facing car seat would be like. Very average gas mileage, combine 19 mpg. I am writing because we recently bought a Subaru outback and i am blown away by how much better of a car it is compared to the jeep Cherokee for price, quality, fuel economy, AWD system, and interior is so much better it cant even compare. If you are in the market for a jeep go elsewhere because Fiat is going to run this company into the ground.

It's really a V-6
I put over 1,000 miles on it the first week. Very good on the highway and not bad on city streets. Compared to my 92 Wrangler with over 350,000 on the odometer this vehicle is a Limo. I do find it odd that FCA left 2014 technology in the radio when even they step down vehicle Compass has the new radio. Still very disappointed that Jeep lied about being able to upgrade the radio after the sale to include Android Auto. I also will NEVER buy another Jeep product after being lied to about being able to renew UConnect on an annual discounted basis. It's sad they tried to take advantage of their customers during the pandemic. **UPDATE** After 2 1/2 years and 35,000 miles I'm still happy with the 2018 Cherokee. But the dealership (several different) people that told me the car either came with Android Auto or it was a coming update tell me I should probably choose a different manufacturer next time.......one where the people actually know their vehicles.

TL;DR get the V6
Wrecked my scion during a bad storm. Insurance gave me a sizeable amount for a new rig, so I was checking out what I could afford. This was May 2019 and I picked up an unsold 2018 Cherokee, 18 miles on the clock, with a sticker price of under $20k. I couldnt go up to the $25k price range, so I had to choose between the V6 or 4WD. I went with the V6 in FWD and it was a good call. Say what you will about Fiat Chrysler, that Pentastar 3.2L is a peach. It loves to stretch its legs getting on to the highway. I heard a few complaints about the transmission shifting "weird", but that is just the design of the transmission. It has two gearsets that have dog-teeth rather than traditional clutch packs, so when shifting into these gears, the transmission internals have to stop completely before shifting. Strange shift feel but much stronger. Only problems I had after 30k miles was a defective oil filter o-ring that leaked oil onto the serpentine belt causing the alternator and power steering to slip (lit the dash up like a christmas tree) and a throttle position sensor that glitched out one time. Would I get one again? Eh, maybe. I mean it is a good car, but it is still a cheap car. A ford explorer with a V6 would set you back almost $50k. In fact, almost all SUVs with a V6 are over $30k, so this is a fantastic rig for the price. I drive about an hour to work and back every day, and used it to go 600 miles every weekend for about a year. Comfortable for the long rides and with enough room to fold the seats down and lay down for a nap in the back. I do not regret buying it.

DONT DO IT
2018 Jeep Cherokee Bought brand new Jan. 2018.18000 miles as of Oct. 2019 oil changed 4 times in 2 years. Was told to add a quart of oil every month and be sure to check oil at every gas fill up! What! Don’t spend 25k for peace of mind! Case Manager refuses to admit any fault
Would not recommend the Cherokee or anything from
Since day one of owning my Jeep Cherokee with the 4 cylinder engine I have had nothing but issues with it and have even had to have it towed to the dealership because it stopped working. It has 34000 miles on it and I use 3 quarts of oil between the oil changes(4000 miles recommended) and Jeep says there is nothing they can do about it even though it is still under warranty. I have also had to take it to the dealership at 8000 miles because a switch in the transmission went out and all the light on the gearshift came on.

Totally not worth the money
Test drove a 14 when they first came out and didn’t purchase because I hated the way it shifted from first to second. Read that reliability had improved to average. I had a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe with the 3.3l v6 and 6-speed auto. With 30k and almost 3 years of ownership it never had to visit the dealer and never hiccuped. The Jeep, it is the limited with the v6, it has the high altitude appearance package. It made it home and to the store and and I heard a noise from the rear of the car and rolled the window down and thought what in the world is that? Took it to Jeep the next day and they said you have a rock stuck in your brake and we will fix it for free. Excuse me? It’s not even 24 hours old and has 132 miles on it and you’re telling me you’re doing me a favor? Well, praise Jesus and thank you. Ok, I was having serious buyers remorse at this time. After 3,000 miles I went to change the oil and the oil pan and everything was wet like it was leaking oil. Call Jeep, omg no one has ever had this problem. We can get you in Monday of next week. Ok, I work next Monday but have the Monday after that off. Well, it does have an oil leak and it’s not safe to let it go that long. It’s ok for you to take a week to fit me in with a loaner car but when I can’t take a Monday off work to drive to the dealer to get a loaner car. Now I’m thinking, idk what’s worse!? This car, or the service from the dealer. The service advisor told me to keep an eye on the oil. And he would see me with a loaner car on Monday. I get there 7:50 on Monday morning and they have no idea that I have an appt, they have no loaner cars and will have to reschedule my appt. 🤯. Fine the guy calls me back the next day and said can I bring it in Thursday morning and they promise me a loaner. My husband took it in and they gave him a base model Cherokee and off he went. They call us and said it a common problem and even the guy on the phone has an 18 Cherokee and his timing chain cover was leaking also.... it a common problem. To fix it took a week, it’s an extensive repair. I am feeling uneasy about the dealer doing the repair of they have made so many mistakes and I go to another Jeep dealer. I was told once a dealer addresses a problem. I need to let them fix it. Doesn’t sound like Jeep dealers
2018 Jeep Cherokee Latitude Plus 2.4L Transmission
First issue: Just started having transmission issues when shifting into reverse, it shifts hard and vibrates loudly. Second issue, radio: there is no way to stop the radio from turning on to full volume when starting the Jeep. So annoying. When I turn off/mute the radio, I want it to stay off! Third issue: defroster for front window is terrible. Sometimes it works properly and other times not at all. Since I cannot change the mileage below, there are 57k miles on the Jeep

Blotchy paint
Not happy with the fact my brand new car has had numerous blotchy discolorations that cannot be removed only by the dealer. They seem to appear more frequently in summer months when the sun beats on it. They appear in any location and almost seem like a discoloration that cannot be fixed only by the dealer/service rubbing compound on it. Very disappointed in this cars paint as I would never imagine a brand new car would have this kind of problem. Also noticed it on the same car as mine in the showroom! Got no where with the dealer on this. Will not recommend a Cherokee to anyone now.

There not a hold lot to say it's a great SUV,I brought the base modal but still has some crazy stuff on it ,like de-ice wiper blades, never hear of since a thing.I brought it with the 3.2 v-6 because of towing. It a great suv and I really don't have nothing bad to say about it.We are over the first year of ownership and it been a great Suv and yes I look the looks it set it self away from all other SUV out there. The one thing I due not care for and wish they would due away with is the start/stop ,but if you want a new car it's something new it is something you have to put up with because I belive all car maker have it.Now back to towing my RV is over 2000# and tow it with easy.I going up to a little bigger camper in the summer so will see what it will with that.As for gas not bad for a SUV not bad high 30.6 and low was 21.3 that was pulling camper up some big hills.

This Jeep Just Blows My Mind
The Jeep Cherokee Latitude is a car that, in my humble opinion, is both not missing any of the things i really wanted, and isnt weighted down with all of the extra doo-dads and gee-gaws so many of the cars today come equipped with that i have no interest in. The engine has more than enough power and get up and go to take me and whomever else is with me wherever we want to go. Ive been going to going to auctions and everytime i load up with my purchases i never have to come back and make a second trip. The brakes have handled extremely well all the different conditions ive driven in as well as all of the different kinds of roads ive driven on. No matter what the weather is ive always been able to feel safe driving. I love taking it into town, and have enjoyed tremendously the longer trips ive taken. The seats are extremely comfortable, and are capable of being adjusted to both my ladys and my own particular needs. The back seats do not force your legs up into your chest because the space is so tight, as ive found with my new cars. In fact, in my Jeep Cherokee Latitude, the amount of head and leg room is quite amazing in the back seats. As ive driven and riden in many jeeps in the past, I had expected this jeep would still have some of the stiffness and jerkiness ive experienced with the jeeps of the past. I truly had not expected to find a Jeep which was so comfortable and reliable. Truth be told, I have nothing but the highest praise for my new Jeep Cherokee Latitude. Furthermore, I have no complaints about its performance whatsoever.

2018 Cherokee, 6 cylinder
The 2018 Cherokee Limited is a very nice "car", and it's very comfortable. I wouldn't get it w/o a six cylinder though. It handles snowy conditions just as well as any truck. The only thing I don't like is the 9-speed transmission. Too many gears. It has to think upon downshifting, resulting in a hesitation of throttle response. And when slowing down fast to stop, the transmission bucks at stop. It is definitely not as smooth as a manual, for anyone who knows how to properly shift a manual transmission. But I would still choose a Jeep Cherokee over any of the other clones out there.

Where to start!
Bought this vehicle with 78 miles on it. From day 1 it has rough shifted while driving . I will be driving, go to make a turn while slowing down and the car will jerk hard after the turn. Also, it will sometimes lurch while in park upon startup. Radio intermittently changes channels on it's own. Taken it to the dealership and they can't find anything wrong. The car now has 29,700 miles.

Amazing!
Love it so far Just having a electrical problems at this time. Dome lights blink. Looks like a strobe light. Has anyone had these problems. Had to take it to Dodge garage and they had to call Chrysler techs. Still waiting on prognosis.
Lots of Electronics
This car has lots of buttons and electronics. I am old and it is taking me a while to figure out how to use them all. The car itself drives great. Mine is a V-6. None of the models in the drop down menu on this review page fit my car, so I picked the closest one. The turning radius is a little larger than my old car, but it was a sedan. Gas mileage is averaging about 16.5 mpg which is less than I thought it was going to get.

Not one but two!
We currently own two 2018 Jeep Cherokees. I bought my wife's Cherokee Latitude+ brand new and and my Trailhawk used. We absolutely love our Jeeps! Even though both Jeeps are similar they are totally different. Both have been extremely reliable, comfortable and durable. Both are powered by the V6 with the 9 speed automatics and are 4wd and also have the upgraded tech package. If you get a Cherokee, get the 4wd with the upgraded tech package and V6 as it is far superior to the base model!

Horrible
I purchased my Cherokee with approx 24000 miles by the time it hit 30000 it started just randomly shutting off. Called the dealership and they immediately knew the problem said it probably low on oil. I checked it this was about 3000 miles as we were coming due for an oil change. This was the problem I had no oil! The problem continued every 2500 to 3000 miles the engine would shut off. My keep dealership suggested this is normal! I was so infuriated and frustrated with this pice of junk! I decided it was time to get rid of this vehicle when it decided to die on a railroad track with my baby in his car seat! Luckily no train was coming! This is a lawsuit waiting to happen!!!

Almost got it right
While the Jeep 2.4 L awd Latitude basic vehicle is well thought out; the technology package ruined it for us. The system is designed to seize your phone when you plug it into the charging port, whether you want it to or not. I could not make or receive a call, or navigate without interference by the Jeep programs. It attempted to use any information on my phone that Jeep felt was potentially in play. I could not have a private conversation on my phone without interference. It searched my phone for music! The interface was complex to the point of being opaque. System controls require a class to operate. We never knew what to expect. At one point we were getting conflicting statements on navigation from Jeep and our own phone NAV program! Lack of a CD us a little too advanced for most. Requires customers to be into MP3 or device based music files.

Reliable and decent gas mileage.
Although a little underpowered with the 2.4 l engine it still performs better then expected from a sub compact suv with a 4 cylinder. Decent gas mileage while being an 4 wheel drive vehicle is what sold me on the cherokee latitude. I have owned 4 jeeps now and other then my newest purchase of the 2018 renegade trailhawk. The cherokee has been dependable, capable and an affordable option. Only thing I would trade it in for is another cherokee or renegade trailhawk.

Big enough for a family. Priced well enough to allow more features into a budget. *update. With less than 50,000 miles, I’m already failing state inspection and having to put $2,000 into it. You get what you pay for, I guess

Oil Consumption
I bought the Jeep brand new. We are always adding oil in between oil changes. Oil changes are done based on dealers schedule. When I say something to the mechanic about losing oil, I was told that was a known issue with this vehicle. If they know it’s a problem why don’t they fix it.

Among the best I've owned
Bought my 2018 Cherokee Limited when it had 17K miles on it. Since owning this vehicle I have had no issues; it currently has over 85K miles-mostly on the highway. This is perhaps the best driving vehicle I have ever owned. The smooth ride is truly exceptional for a mid-size SUV. The V6 offers plenty of power and the FWD adds stability in poor road conditions. I love the panoramic sun roof and leather interior.

Nice ride and power
I owned for 4 years. There were a couple of mechanical problems so I chose to trade in instead of repairing. Great ride, comfortable seat, plenty power to pass, good stereo. Purchased after driving my wifes 2015. She now has a Grand Cherokee. So we have essentially owned 3 of them.

Rebuilt Title, what a bargain 👌
I bought my 2018 Jeep from a person that deals with salvaged , rebuilt vehicles. It was more of a damaged driver door and hood. It looked good. After the trial run, I purchased it. It's a V-6, runs great, fast pick up, comfortable seats, phone connects automatically, smooth ride, nice sound system. 4 new tires. I have no complaints, I like it better than the new jeep. Beautiful car.
