2027 McLaren Artura Spider

Hybrid technology isn't just for mainstream commuter cars anymore. The McLaren Artura blends a turbocharged V6 with an electric motor for a meaty 690 horsepower and speed of up to 205 mph. While hybrid supercars aren't new — McLaren's own P1 was among the first to debut more than a decade ago — the current crop delivers astounding power, speed and even a side of all-electric driving. Among the changes expected for the 2027 McLaren Artura is electric range that extends beyond its current limit of 21 miles. 

Chevrolet probably isn't the first brand that comes to mind in the pantheon of McLaren rivals. But the Corvette Grand Sport X's 655-hp V8, electric motor and all-wheel drive deliver speed and acceleration that's easily a match for the Artura. If the 2027 Artura comes in closer to 800 horsepower, Chevy's also got an answer for that with the Corvette ZR1 and ZR1X trims. Exotic challengers like the Lamborghini Temerario, with its staggering 907-hp hybrid V8, and the 819-hp Ferrari 296 GTB are also among the Artura's top performance targets. 

McLaren's Artura comes as a coupe or a convertible. McLaren calls the convertible the Artura Spider and fits it with a retractable hardtop. Notably, the Artura is so structurally sound and rigid to begin with that McLaren says it doesn't have to strengthen the Artura's body structure at all to make it a convertible. The upside is that the Spider weighs nearly the same as the regular Artura coupe. For 2027, the Artura is likely to get upgraded infotainment software and an improved 8-inch display from the flagship W1 model, while advancements in battery technology could give the Artura more electric range.
