Make not mistake, this is a compact crossover that is semi-rugged, not fully rugged. In that sense, this vehicle is great. They've packed a lot into this body. Likes: Love the V6, mileage isn't great if you like to open her up but if you treat her nicely it will return decent mileage. Very quiet cabin, only really hear the engine loudly when flooring it. Alpine sound system is very nice. Lane Departure system works as advertised. Rear view Camera is awesome on the 8.4" screen, the computer is fast, recognizes your phone quickly and responds to commands quickly. Highly recommend getting the Safety/Convenience package that nets you the 3 items mentioned above. Interior space is decent. Dislikes: None yet really. The start/stop system when you are at the red light or at a stop seems to stop too late and start to early. Haven't looked at the settings yet to see what is up with that. Overall, really like it. What it offers that the others really don't is a nice V6 that provides sweet acceleration for zipping about......a major plus for me. Also, from a cost standpoint it is a good value after rebates etc. Mine MSRP'd at just over $30k and I got it for just above $24k. Lot of vehicle for $24k.

Safety of car - Car stops operating suddenly

After 6 months of operating this car, the car died suddenly while driving it on a major road. I brought the car in (once it started up again) and they told me it was because It needed an oil change. What? The car dies because it needs an oil change?? I was insulted! And the car was only 6 months old. BUT, I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt. Well, some months down the road it happened again and again. And though I enjoy the comfort of the car, the operation of the car is absolutely awful. Looking back I should have returned the car and asked for a replacement. I'm at the end of my lease (thankfully) but as a departing gift I suppose, the car died on me AGAIN on a major road. This time, I called Jeep Customer Care, complained, had a tow truck tow the car back to the dealership to no avail. I get a "text" message the next day not knowing why my car was there. I am once again told that it is because of needing an oil change. WHAT??? OMG! Are you kidding me??? I have had oil changes every 5,000 miles (the car now has 35,000 miles) religiously. I am disgusted and thoroughly frustrated. After having a very "lively" discussion with one of the service techs who hangs up on me, I call back to speak to the Service Manager. He openly admits to me that this is a "flaw" with this car. He goes on to explain that because the car has a 2.4 tiered engine, at any time if the oil goes below a certain point the car will stop operating.........no control of the car, no steering, no nothing!! I don't know how to even respond to this. So, this car is on the road with this safety issue. A car that stops operating with NO WARNING, no red light, no oil warning light, no check engine light, nothing! How can this car be on the road. Why was it not recalled? I am disgusted. I proceed to tell him that I will NOT get back into a car that is this unsafe on the road to myself and others. So....I am presently without a car and will in fact, make a visit tomorrow to the dealership to begin negotiations. I hope that no one is ever seriously injured or worse, killed, because JEEP has continued to put a car on the road that should NOT be on the road at any time for any reason.

Good value after 2 years...

Has lots of neat features like SD card mp3 and WAV file playback, touchscreen. Very roomy, quiet, smooth ride. Corners well. Great price. Only issue was the transmission stopped working on the highway (stepped on gas, engine raced, car wouldn't move.) Turning engine off and on again got it working enough to get to the dealer. Was the transmission control module computer. Needed a software update. No issues since then. FCA should have issued a recall for that as it is a critical safety issue.

this is my first jeep and I am sold It took my interest because of three things 1. the towing capacity 2. the leg room in the rear seats 3. the optional V6 engine, I go camping a lot with my pop up camper and my previous car could hardly tow the pop up but this Cherokee tows like a dream you almost forget the trailer is there I also have a 9 year old son who loves the extra leg room in the back seat and the comfort of the seats the V6 engine Is amazing plenty of power and the Fuel efficiency is amazing I am impressed with the Cherokee it is well worth the money and its worth looking at

I bought my 2016 jeep just 6 weeks ago and loved it. It has 16,000 miles on it and suddenly started chugging and feeling like it was going to die the check engine light came on I sent it to the dealer and received it back with the engine code cleared and when i started it the problem still existed and and smelled like something was burning. and when it rains it smells musty in the vehicle. so needless to say after making 1 payment it is in the shop for the second time already.
