WORST, MOST HORRIFIC experience I've ever had! bought a new 2014 jeep Cherokee on 3/25 to have it in service 2x already cuz the engine is grinding &screeching when we accelerate, the trans knocks, & there is a clicking noise coming from behind the dash every time we shift. take the car to be looked at, told there is nothing wrong w/ the car (are you kidding me!?). have the same problems w/ the engine & back again on 5/17, have a tech acknowledge there is a problem w/ the engine, have the car in service for over a month waiting for this factory rep that came on 6/23, test drove the car, & said, "yes, this is normal. This is a new engine & its supposed to do that" (again, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!)

After test driving almost every Ford SUV my back was killing me. This car stopped the pain on the test drive. I have read about the programming problem on the early 2014s. Mine is August 2013 but have had not a bit of trouble. Sometimes the tranny thinks too much when deciding gears but most of the time it is smooth. A pure joy on a long trip and I can drive for hours. The interior is well crafted and the car looks more expensive than it was. I have the six cylinder and get a hard 32 mpg on the highway with 27 around town. I will achieve 110 mph rather quickly. You never get to the ninth gear. I am glad I bought it. Update - two years later. The car has smoothed out considerably and is performing nicely. It is a keeper. 3 years later... I would have bought the Outback. Four year update: The car has never failed me and runs good. Looks good. Still do not like the transmission but learning that all nine speeds do this. Wife loves the car. Over four years and still have the transmission issue. It slips then it doesn't. It has more road noise then my Ram or Chrysler 300. Still better than any GM car I ever owned. Never failed and drives great. Still rather have the Outback. We are working on the sixth year. The transmission got worse to the point we were shopping to get rid of it. Chrysler [FCA] issued a recall before we did for only the 2014 models to fix the clutch that was forcing the car into neutral on the highways. The mechanic told me it would fix our age old problem. It did! The car seems to be geared lowered but the slipping has stopped. I used some of the $30k I saved and bought tires and that removed the road noise. We won this round! Fast forward 2019. Transmission slipping. FCA recalled just our year and they worked on it in August. It seemed to gear the car down but the slipping stopped. Due to this we chose not to rent a car for the NE trip but drive this . We drove 3900 from Georgia to Maine and back. On the way the transmission started slipping in West Virginia when we hit the mountains. It slipped the whole trip with a little rough motor action in NY. It made it back but six years of this crap was enough. I traded it for a Highlander. The engine was a 6 cyl not a 4cyl. Aug 2019 we drove to New England (3750 miles) after FCA uploaded another fix on the transmission. It seemed geared down more and the hard shifting stopped. We got to West Virginia and it started again and continued through Maine and back. With less than 100k miles we traded it in. We were tired Boss.

Most amazing car!!! I cannot convey to you how amazing this car is. It is perfect for everything. I use it driving to work and get 28-30 to the gallon on mixed roads with hills. 24-26 In town. And up to 36 on the highway but usually 32 on a trip. Millions of features and you can customize your dash. Tons of room. most comfortable seats since my 1991 chrysler new yorker. I am telling you this is SO worth it. The remote start and heated seats in cold weather is the best. Heated cloth seats was the best invention ever!!! Yes brand new so there will be problems. Not only brand new car but brand new model. My fog light sticks on, but dealer will fix it. I love this car it is the best investment.

Dogs can open the windows while driving!

Sherry, 07/25/2015

It seems when I go to accelerate, my Jeep Cherokee Latitude hesitates. This can be frightening when you are expecting the vehicle to go and it doesn't. My other suggestions would be to change the front window opening mechanism because if my dogs are in the front seat and the air is on, they can step on the window button and open them. If I lock the windows, then I can't open them for the dogs to stick their heads out when I want them to be able to do that. When the window is partly down, there is no way to keep them from opening them all the way. I had a Jeep Liberty and those window controls were dog proof and much better. The other suggestion is to move the voice controls from the steering wheel location. My husband continually hits that button on accident and has to say cancel. The best feature is the remote start, heated seats and steering wheel, but you can get that on other vehicles.

This is the best vehicle I have ever purchased! It performs like a sedan in terms of quiet ride, smooth ride, easy to park and move; yet has fold-down flat cargo capacity that is huge!!!!! I can haul so much and yet, when I need to travel on a trip, I have enough cargo room for suit cases. I highly recommend this awesome vehicle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From Wisconsin and I do not have a 4 wheel drive version, I have a front wheel drive version and it's great in the snow too!

I turned in our 2014 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 Latitude V6 at the end of a 3-year lease. Except for the transmission that seemed to want to scare us on a regular basis, this was a solid vehicle. But unfortunately that was a HUGE if, as the unpredictability of the transmission from a stop made it solidly unsafe. Cons: unpredictable transmission that felt like it slipped into first gear. Multiple flashes and trips to the dealer yielded 'no problems'. Oddly, one trip for an oil change fixed the problem, until they did the next repair and it went back to slipping. The 4-5 recalls didn't help, although all were covered at no cost to me. The tires wore out after only 18,000 miles. Wow. The cruise control worked fine on the flats, but in the hills it would wait until 4-5 mph down from the set speed before kicking in, and there was zero control going downhill. The transmission Sport setting turned off the DSC (stability control). Why? Did they think we're running the Jeep on a track? I used Sport in traffic and on hills to make the reluctant transmission more responsive. We also experienced a few nagging buzzes/rattles that the dealer couldn't find. I couldn't help but hit the phone activate button the steering wheel at least once a trip while making a turn. Pros: Beautiful, well thought-out interior. Excellent controls (other than the phone button location). Plenty of room. We loved the hidden storage under the passenger seat. We never got stuck, even in nasty ice & snow. Blizzaks definitely helped. The cabin heat worked well and kept the windshield clear. The sound system was well-balanced. Plenty of power with the V6. I just wish they'd paired it with a standard 6-speed auto.

I went for all the bells and whistles. The car is sharp on the outside and luxurious on the inside. It is solidly built, downright peppy with the V6, and full of high-end technology and safety features. On the third day of ownership, the crank shaft sensor failed and car was in the garage two days; however, it is working well since the repair.

Bought new March 2014 for $26500. Owned for 2.5 years with so many problems. The vehicle stalled while driving with no engine lights on three times. Dealer fixed it but won't tell the cause. It is so underpowered and with worst driving experience. Dumped for $13500 with only 25k miles before warranty expire.

14 6 cylinder jeep latitude

We bought our 2014 Jeep Cherokee 4wd, 6 cylinder and currently have 55k on it. We love the ride, mileage and overall driveability. We traded in for a Jeep for 4wd commuter that was good for snow and winter. It has handled excellent. We did have a lot of issues initially thay the dealer couldnt figure out. It ended up being the driveshaft that was howling. Ive read quite a few people commenting and having the same issue, but apparently Jeep doesnt want to address that issue. The vehicle has more recalls than I've ever seen on any other vehicle, but for the last year or so, we have had pretty good luck. The 9 speed transmission is definitely a bit goofy and has issues for sure, but no major issue that has put us in a bad spot- yet at least. We have had the vehicle for a year and a half and with the last year being much better for repairs and issues than the first few months, I would buy another. Updated 1/22/2020- Excellent smaller SUV for the winter...Jeep has their handling figured out. We are going to trade it in soon because with growing kid(s) the room is running out and it's time for a minivan with better accessibility and room. Now have 80,000 on Jeep.

The only bellyache I have with this car is the quirky reprogramming of the transmission through recalls and some other components where the service light wold be activated. Aside from that the car is very good on gas, nice infotainment unit, fit and finish is pleasing. The Jeep Cherokee V6 is a great value compared to the Asian counterparts that are becoming more and more overrated and overpriced.

I have taken my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude in multiple times for repairs costing $2-3000. Been having issues again with service transmission light coming on intermittently, some harsh acceleration, being “stuck” in the wrong gear…well today I was told the transmission needs replaced (a $6300 repair ). It only has 122,000 miles on it, and I have kept up with routine maintenance plus the extra repairs and recalls required. I still owe $8000 on the loan, so i am pretty much screwed.

I purchased a Latitude with 86k on it. I figured at this juncture the transmission problems have been resolved. Shift's are crisp and smooth. I'm a big guy at 6ft 1 245 pounds. It's very comfortable. I wanted the V6 and it runs well, plus it is quiet. As a single guy it's all I need. My bulldog likes riding in it. Using Sport mode the V6 feels strong. I avg 23 mpg. The infotainment works well has a lot of features. I do like all the outlets for power, USB etc. The Blue tooth works fine. I put a thousand miles very fast on this vehicle to see how well it performed. My cons. I'm not a fan of the adjustable steering. Limited movement. I find the digital dash part to be confusing as well as the information is difficult to read other than the speedo. I'm not disappointed at all in the acceleration. If I want to feel powerful acceleration I will break out my 06 SRT8 6.1 hemi.

The “advanced transition” made for super sluggish performance. If it ever had problems my warranty covered mostly everything. At 130k miles, I would def stay far from this car. It’s pretty much inoperable and I owe 6k on it still.

So I do like how roomy the car is as Im a bigger guy 6ft 295 lbs., and I fit just fine in this car, and shoulders dont even touch the door. The car drives comfortably, it is quiet, good sound system, great performance, gas mileage is decent considering my old 2007 Equinox was only 185hp and had the same mpg. The seats are fantastic! Now the bad..... And its almost everything breaks. 2nd transmission going on a 3rd now with 175k miles. Thats a transmission every 55k to 60k miles. 4WD and associated computer system has gone out twice! I bought an extended warranty from Endurance which was full coverage for 5 years, 100k miles at $160 a month. They have covered dozens of repairs! Each time my car has been in the shop for several weeks, and I mean several. During the first transmission swap, Jeep busted my radiator which melted my plug wires, which damaged the ignition coils and ruined the battery. That repair was over $7000. The moonroof leaks water, the tiny holes get clogged and they charge you $600 to unclog them. Then the seals start cracking and its $1500 to rebuild the moonroof. The worst common issue, the radio doesn't always turn on, which is the main computer control unit so guess what, NOTHING WORKS when that goes out. Not just radio, the heat, air, heated/cooled seats, defrost, steering wheel buttons. It's a near daily occurrence it will come on with the car and sometimes not. Which means you lose your backup camera also. You can start driving and randomly 3 minutes later, it turns on. Jeep says, "It just needed to warm up." Idiots. If you overfill this car too much with gas, you know when the pump click and you put just a little more, the fuel pump can't handle the pressure and will start bucking your car and stall it even while driving. All kinds of lights come on then too! If you get regular passenger tires, 100h for example, they will last maybe 30k on a 60k tire. Get 104H and a 80k tire will last you 60k miles. That's been my experience now. Brakes don't last long at all! Maybe 30k on stock brake pads. I replaced them with cross drilled slotted rotors and kevlar pads from PowerStop. Lasted 75k miles and cost the same as stock OEM. Replaced my battery now 3 times, and every time they say a terminal is bad. Weird. Radiator cap has gone bad twice where it lets the water evaporate out. The blower fan for the heat/air went out. Power Liftgate sometimes won't stay up, and drops on your head. Anytime a check engine light comes on, you can no longer use remote start, including if you just have low air in a tire. Super annoying since the car always has check engine lights for the dumbest stuff. Gas cap is loose, but its not, check engine light. Everytime the car goes in the shop I get stuck with rentals. Endurance covers a few days but Jeep will always have your car for 2+ weeks. This last time, my car went int, came out with 2 door scratchs and a 3rd ding that took the paint clean off. They of course took no fault and said it was there. I had to show them my video walkthrough before I gave them the keys that I always do in their garage before I leave. Sure enough, all the damage was them! All total, I estimate over $14k has been spent on maintenance for a car I bought used for $24k. Just pathetic! But. I still oddly enjoy driving the car and it is comfortable. Just wish it would be reliable.

We love the Jeep. The V6 is powerful especially in Sport Mode, 4x4 is rugged. Inside and out is comfortable and stylish with utility built in, many storage places, tow hooks, all weather package etc. The back however is small for loading any large gear. Acceleration at times takes gearing a few seconds to engage so making intersections hairy. A whistling noise was a costly repair not covered under warranty. A solid Jeep!
