Once I had it aligned with new off road tires all around, this 5 speed manual shift wagon has really been the best of all vehicles. I photograph all the time and being able to drive in deserts and snow country, lived in both all across the U.S., has been easy. I had a 1950s Land Rover 109 that was a beast compared to this Rodeo. For all around daily use, short trips and cross country it's been above the others.

Best $1000 I EVER spent!

My Rodeo never backs down whether its 100+ degree weather in the downtown gridlocked traffic, or up in the hills four-wheeling. This is by far the most fun and most reliable vehicle I have ever owned - although Ken's comment about the lug nuts is 100% accurate - I recently replaced all of my lug nuts after putting new tires on. The tire guy had to cut 3 of the studs to remove one tire. Only other thing that we had trouble with was a bad fuel injector. $65, a couple hours and one very hot parking lot later, he was up and running like the champ he is! This truck will be passed on to my kids for sure!

1993 Rodeo LS 4WD still running strong

I bought my 93 Rodeo LS 4WD in 95 with 70,000 miles on it. It now has 199,930 miles on it (as of 8-4-09). I've maintained it faithfully and other than normal wear and tear repairs (rubber hose, brakes, etc) I have not had any major repairs needed on it. I upgraded the suspension with CALMINI offroad 3" lift about 11 years ago, and even with the added stress on the driveline from the modified suspension, it still runs like a champ. Now, I use it mostly for off-roading and it has impressed other offroaders who were amazed that I was able to keep up with them on some of the more challenging trails. The body style is still attractive and it's perfect sized SUV, not too small, not too big.

Go Go Rodeo!

These are the first generation Rodeos and they are the toughest models. What you get is a simple, bare-bones SUV that suites your 4x4 needs. For 1991-1992 opt for the 3.1 V6 engine and a manual tranny mated to the 4X4. The engine is a GM built 60 degree V6 with throttle body fuel injection making 120 horses. Doesn’t sound like much but it is surprisingly powerful. If you want better gas mileage get the 2.6 four banger (super quality engine) with just RWD. These SUVs are tough and not flimsy like today’s cars. They are hard to find due to their age but if you can find one, even if it needs TLC, but it!!!! Mine had power steering, brakes, ice cold a/c and a decent factory stereo with cassette with full-logic controls. I’m an Isuzu enthusiast and I like these over the Troopers which I LOVE. I regret selling my Rodeo after so many years and miles. It was still in great operating condition.

This is by far one the best cars I have ever owned. It has been put through everything you can imagine and it still keeps asking for more.
