Great car!

I bought this car used, based on high ratings I found online. It's not the car I imagined purchasing (I had a Honda Civic LX for a decade prior to this vehicle) but I really fell for it after a test drive. I've had it for almost a year now, and I'm still loving it. I would recommend this car to anybody wanting a comfortable, fun vehicle that is roomy enough but with decent gas mileage for driving to work and getting around town in style, at a great price. Below I will summarize the pros and cons for this car. PROS +Exterior: nothing too fancy but nice-looking, streamlined; not a huge car but feels roomy when you're inside +Interior: Leather is nice; very comfortable; seat controls allow for a lot of personalization for how seats are oriented; fake wood grain panels but I kinda like them; the interior has "character" +Radio is dated now (no bluetooth or USB connects) but audio sounds fantastic +Decent gas mileage for V6 +Good acceleration and very smooth, quiet ride; handles well +Great climate controls (you can choose specific temperature); also tells you the outside ambient temperature +Separate climate control for back seat area +Digital display tells you how many miles you have left in gas tank +Trunk is very spacious +Storage compartments (cupholders w/ adjuster flap; popout drawer for misc items; two-level center consoles in front and back seats +Traction control system +High safety ratings for front and side impacts (although see cons below) CONS -Electrical problems (sunroof does not work; front interior light does not work; tape deck & CD player do not work-only radio; trunk release button does not work-I have to use button on key fob) -Airbag light is on (which I see might be a common problem with this car) *safety ratings are one reason I bought this car -Radiator leak (shop was not able to pinpoint the source of the leak, which is slow)

I bought a dealer model 2005 in 2006. I still have it, and plan to keep it until it dies....which I do not think will be any time soon. I have had no repairs, just routine maintenance. Love this car, and wish it would last forever.

I bought my XG when it was 10 years old and had quite a few miles on it. I'm the second owner and it turns out that the original owner was an older woman who lived down the street from me. She had all her maintenance, right up til the time she sold it, done at the dealership. I had access to the records and she had all recommended service done. The condition of the car reflected it. when I got the car I had to put a set of tires and a new battery on it. There is nothing about this car to suggest its age. I have never been so much in love with the way a car has treated me. The ride is incredibly quiet and smooth. Plenty of power under the hood for the times when you need to merge into highway traffic. Fire it up to 70, hit the cruise and relax to your favorite music. Just don't get too comfortable. There are other cars out there too. I love the styling. They stole, without shame, designs from classic luxury cars. The grill and rear end of the car is pure Lincoln. Elegant and classy. Then in the interior they decided that Mercedes had hit on a nice design. Yes the wood is plastic, but it looks great. It seems everything about the interior is customizable to fit the individual perfectly. The only complaint I have with the entire car is the air deflector installed at the front of the sunroof. It functions perfectly so you don't get a wind tunnel blowing all around you when it's open on the highway. The problem lies with the location of it. They installed it right at the beginning of the sunroof so that it block out about 1/4 of the opening. I know, picky, picky, picky!! This was Hyundai's first entry into the luxury market and they got it RIGHT. I'm sure the design concepts and components are reflected in the Geneses and the Equus. No reason to believe I can't put another 60-70K on this car.

Have put on 80,000 miles cross country driving - oil changes, gas and new tires our only expense. Comfortable, fast, great handling/cornering, totally reliable. We have averaged 24 MPG (US gallons). I have been driving 45 years and owned many cars in all price ranges. This is the best. The climate control does have a mind of its own sometimes but not a major issue.

I had never heard of this car or saw it before, but just knew it when I saw it, that it was mine! I have not regretted one day of it, never a problem and the miles just turned over to 55,555 yesterday (1/26/10). It is totally loaded, & the sticker price was over $30,000 +, but the dealer sold it to me for $22,000 and no money down, or out of pocket or trade-in. It still looks brand new off the lot. No door dings or scratches & no, I don't have a garage. But I am careful where I park it. I want to keep this car forever & protect it. I keep the maintenance up & its been good to me so far! Bring this car back so when it does go, I can get another one! Not crazy about the Azera thats replaced it

We brought the XG in July of 06. It had 7200 miles on it at that time. I am proud to say at 90,000 miles it still runs like a champ. I haven't had a major tune up since we got the car other than the regular oil and transmission changes. It get 450 miles to the tank hwy miles and about 26 miles in the city at 87 octane. We've driven it from Oklahoma to Florida and back with not problems. I would truely recommend the XG350L to anyone who's looking for style and comfort at an affordable price. We got it at just over 19,000...

I agree with Aaron. The parts are foreign and aren't always in stock. No problem with the transmission for me though. There is a glitch with the heating and a/c blower, it won't shut off. The problem has been noted and all you have to do is replace a blower motor resistor (located above and behind the glove compartment). The timing belt is a bit costly, $900, but it's cheaper than buying a new car. The tires are a bit fancy and expensive to replace as you only get to choose from a couple options. It's a great car, ride is smooth and quiet. Love all of the options that come with the car, too. It is 'rich'.

Traded in a 2002 Buick LeSabre for this car. Drove it 700 miles with no problems and found it very comfortable. Great Long distance car. Was not fatigued after 10 hours. Got a great deal from Harrelson Hyundai in Charlotte NC, They still have 4 new 2005's on the lot. Test 2006 Sonata, 2006 Accord, sat in the 2006 G6, Lacrosse, Lucerne and Ford 500 and the 2007 Camry. We liked the XG350 best. Easy to to drive, Controls logically laid out and more features than the others at a lower price. We even lowered our monthly payment $125.

I have a 2005 XG350L. My most recent problem has been when I drive from a parking space my car only wants to go about 10 miles and hour no matter how much gas I give it. After a while it will go 20 mph no more. After that it finally takes off like nothing happened. This process takes about 5 to 10 mins. When taken to repair could not duplicate. So can not fix. Accel position sensor and fuel sensor have been replaced previously. I love my car, but it is not reliable. The outside body also is thin. It dents and scratches easily. I would not recommend this car to anyone. I am working with the Hyundai Motor America consumer assistance center now I don't know that it will help.

Bought the car new in 2005,,love the way it handles and the space but only a short time after the purchase the air bag light came on. The 1st 4 years it was back in the shop about 4 times for repair to wiring under the seat. Had a few years no problem but then about a year ago it came on again. (Which means no airbags) I contacted the Hyundai shop and it will cost almost $200 to just check it out. If it can be fixed the $200 will apply to the bill but who know's what that will be. Decided to keep on driving it, but every time I see that red light I pray the air bags are not needed. I agree with a LOT of people that has also posted this problem that there needs to be a recall. Shirley C. The airbag on my Hyundai has not worked since my last comment which is a concern for any front seat passengers. I am very short so have to move the seat very close to the steering wheel so for me I am probably better off. I have heard many stories of people getting hurt from the airbag. I still think there should be a recall because just fixing the current problem only lasts a short time. Shirley C.

My husband is the only careful driver of this car. He was thrilled to buy it, and has been fairly pleased with the performance. It is now over 2 years old, and has 11,000 miles on the clock. He just had an inspection done, and the brakes are gone already. The repair department told my husband that they usually only last to 9,000 miles. The radio has been just awful from the start. It has been in repair twice. Problem has not been resolved. Terrible to listen to on a trip to town, crackling all the time. So I end up putting an audio tape in.

I Just Traded my 2003 XG350L For a 2005 XG350L. I Love that car. I'm a 45 year old woman who for the first time in my life, bought the same car twice. The Axera looks nice, but the body style is not as classy as the XG350. Please bring it back in 2007. The comfort, luxury, performance, reliability, and safety is unmatched for the price. It's the car I've always wanted, but never thought I could afford. I tell everyone I know how great my car is. Please, please, please bring it back.

My XG350L seems to have a transmission problem which the dealership cannot fix and the manufacturer is unwilling to allow replacement parts. It drives great most of the time, but occasionally and without warning has no power on startup, almost as though it is not in gear. It looks great both inside and out. Hyundai has done a good job with design and features, if they can just get over the continuing transmission difficulties they will have a competitor at the top of the mid- size car category which looks and feels like a much more expensive automobile.

Just Another Car-- Feeling Un-American

Aaron, 12/02/2010

Bought new. Bought for the looks, price, and warranty. In the end; the transmission was replaced. $900.00 timing belt plus brakes at 60K. Armrest latch and cruise control button broke. Mysterious air bag light/sensor in seat that took no less then five or six tries to fix, and just out of warantee... main wire harness had a meltdown. So in the end it is just another car. Read the comments below; they are all on the money. (Hope all those transmissions got replaced?) Biggest let down...availability of parts. Nothing like waiting a week for your parts to arrive from Korea. And darn it if I just feel un-american driving it around. Wish I had given my money to an American Co.

This is my first Hyundai and I really do love the way it drives and rides. I had driven a Chevrolet until I bought this one. I would not go back. It is very comfortable. It also has great get up and go. I am very happy with my purchase. The salesman was very nice and helpful. If I buy another vehicle it will be the same thing and from the same person.I feel good driving my Hyundai.

All the amenities of a Lexus or Caddie at the price of an Impala. A lot of options but not refined. At times when just starting the car surges when just touching the gas pedal and other times you can floor it and go 15 mph. Both go away in about 20 seconds but bothersome. Other than that very pleased with the car. Smooth tranny and good steering feel. I'd buy another Hyundai with no hesitation.

Have an 04 Sonata and like it so much that with end of year pricing, rebates and owner loyalty bonus it was a steal at under $17,000 for a sharp 05 XG350. Interior is super, features are as good as the warrenty. Everyone who rides in it loves it. Even though it drinks gas the price makes up for this discontinued car. That seems to be the only drawback. But gas will come down in price?

I have owned Mercedes Benz's, BMW's, VW's and a Corvette this is one of the nicest cars I haved owned. Right now you can get a xg350L for about 21000 plus tax and tags. This is one heck of a lot of car for 21Gs. It has more options that my BMW 7 series that I traded in on the XG350L had. The mirrors point tothe curb when the car is shifted in reverse. Iknow this does not have sport suspension but remember it is a luxury car and if you drive it like a luxuary car it drives very nice.

I bought a 2005 xg350 brand new, and had it for 12yrs. I would still have it but an accident where a SUV t-boned me, and it caused some minor problems that showed up way later after it was fixed, like the drivers ambu bag light stayed on, and no one seem to be able to fix it. So it wouldn't pass inspection. I would still have otherwise. It was pearl white with tan leather interior fully loaded. The car was beautiful looking, and of the highest quality. I would always get compliments. I didn't and haven't to date see a better looking car than this one. I sure do wish they would continue to manufacture this car. As far as maintenance, I never kept up with the recommended schedule. I was good about changing the oil, and had a few things done here and there, and it still ran like a dream. If you can find a good deal on this model....buy it! I have a 2017 Hyaundai, but if I just happen to come across a good deal in the colors I had, I would buy it.

I have been buying new and used cars for over 50 years and since this will be my last car I think, I really shopped the market from Caddy to KIA and all in between. No dealer could match the quality of this car and it's price and above all the warrantee. The dealer was magnificant. Best buying experience in my entire life. Made contact on-line, a price "out the door" was quoted and that's the price I paid. No hassle, no going to see the manager, etc. Just a wonderful experience. The car speaks for itself My wife loves it too. Hyundai needs to blow it's horn more, this car is the world's best kept secret.

Traded my VW with all the technical stuff with my granddaughter for her used XG350. No one had done anything to this car except maybe an oil change and brakes. Took it to Hyundai for a fix up. Yes it was doing weird stuff. $2500 later including new tires, I think that's a bargain considering what a new car costs and their endless recalls. Love the ride quality & simplicity...plus the V6 has mega power.

We just brought a 2005 Hyundai XG350L. I have to say it is great! This is one of the nicest looking cars out there in today's world, like the front grill, the rims, the looks all around, the leather seats, the 210 watt Infinity sound system with 6 speakers, 8 CD changer, the way the doors close (a good tight sound) the wood on the steering wheel and one the doors and center console. If you don't own a Hyundai you should really think about getting one, you cannot go wrong with the warrantees, the way the car is built, very well, and the way the car rides, very solid. don't listen to the people who don't like em. This is a car to say. If you don't own a Hyundai and are looking for a new car, look at Hyundai.

The only complaint I have is the acceleration is bit jerky if you don't ease off the gas pedal. Nice power. I'm not usre how the Avalon gets 31 MPG and this gets 26 highway. They could improve that a bit. I get 20-22 average in mixed driving, depending on how much highway driving.

My XG350L is a wonderful car to drive. A little slow on the takeoffs but has a lot of upper end torque. Great gas mileage. My wife loves the heated seats in the winter months. After owning my share of Town Cars and full size Buicks, I never thought I would take to a smaller car such as this. But, it's the best car purchase I have ever made in my 40+ years of driving. I looked at the new Azera for a replacement car, it has a lot of good features but really didn't like the body style. The XG350 needs to make a comeback. So, you folks at Hyundai.... This is THE best car we ever owned. This Xg350L Have all the Power, the looks of a a 2001 Infinity from the front. The performance it really good for a 194Hp and 216 TQ. you will be suprized when you hit the gas. HOLD ON! The MPG is OK. About 20 City and 28 Highway. not bad. We just took a trip up to Maine and it is a very smooth car. around 85 or so you do not feel a bump. 85 you will run around 2 1/2 thousand RPM's and red line is 6000 rpms. The L Comes with the 210 watt Infinity Sound System it mind blowing. With the bass up all the way and radio blasting, no muddy sounding speakers. I was shocked! The L also comes with the Heated Seats, This is a nice. Again have 30g? Buy this car.

I agree with the inconsistency of the transmission, and have had some difficulties with it. With the 10 year, 100,000 mile guarantee, I'm not worried. I had an XG 300, which required a new transmission. It was replace, and didn't cost me anything. The price of the car for the luxury you get is well worth it.

This is my first-ever new car, so perhaps I'm comparing apples to oranges, but I Love This Car! After test driving many makes & models & thinking I wanted a used Lexus, by chance I came across the XG350L & immediately knew it was the car for me. It looks 'rich', has a wonderful ride & a spacious, well-appointed interior. A friend who recently bought an Avalon, said she didn't like those 'light weight' cars when told I had purchased a Hyundai. As it turns out, my car weighs 150 pounds more than hers. The car is great, the warranties give peace of mind & the dealership was terrific. While I've owned this vehicle only 3 months, I expect to keep it a long time.

I love this car. I tried others in the price range and they lacked the quiet ride and the features. Great price, great warranty

Awesome car! Beautiful interior, many friends say the exterior "looks like a Jag". The ride is incredibly smooth to the point that it feels like you are on air. A great buy. This car is such a treat to drive and own.

Seeking some wheels with some upscale features I purchased an XG-350L, hoping for the best. My expectations have been exceeded -- I love the car. My chief complaint is that the mileage is only fair. On a 300 mile trip the BEST I have achieved is 31.7 mpg. Around town it is about 20 mpg. This is, however, a snappy, responsive car. Since I have as yet limited mileage on the car, only time will tell if my good luck will continue. I urge any or all to give it a good test drive.

This is the fourth new car I ever owned and the best. My other new cars were a Honda Accord, a Pontiac Grand Am and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I haven't had one problem with the car yet. Everything still works just like the first day I drove it out of the dealership. Just amazing!

Also the car has very good pick up and the car is very quiet from outside noise. This is a wonderful car it comes with just about everything that you need.

This car has a nice smooth ride. It is a pleasure to ride and to me exceeds the comfort ratings of simularly priced mid-sized vehicles. I have had no mechanical problems or problems of any kind with this car. I get 27 mpg hwy @ 75mph. The one thing I would change would be the elimination of the cigarette lighters & ashtrays and substitute with radio controls on the steering wheel.

We rented this car for 4 days. No experience with Hyundais before. It fit my 6'7" husband very well. We thought the ergonomics were great! It was very quiet, as quiet as our Avalon. We thought it handled fine. The suspension seemed fine to us (Edmund's does not like it). We were a bit disappointed in the gas mileage. When it comes time to purchase another sedan, we will definitely give it consideration.

After my retirement I decided to purchase the XG350L rather than coninue with a mid-size luxury car. I now have an attractive, comfortable, reliable car with more amenities than previous cars. My friends are marveled with the ride and interior. Several have noted the Infinity sound system and said, "wow, you are now driving an Infiniti"! I have concluded that all autos have one or two shortcomings. I am pleased with the Hyundai and can make a larger donation to charities with the money saved.

This is a great car for the money. I had never owned a Hyundai prior to this purchase, so I did not know what to expect. This car has not let me down, no regrets. I love my car.

We bought the XG350L when we were looking to replace a fully loaded 1999 Chrysler LHS. Would have loved the new 300C but the price was prohibitive. The XG350L had all of the options our LHS had (and more) and was under $22,000. What a deal!

I purchased my Hyundai XG 350L 9 months ago. I couldn`t be happier. I have driven fords, chevys and I own a Toyota Tacoma as a second vehicle so I cannot compare a truck to a car. I have read some reviews about handling and they gave low marks in this category. I suppose if you expect a sports car feel this is not the car for you. On the other hand if you are looking for quiet smooth handling this is the car for you. The power seats could have a couple of more position and a little more cushion for your backside. The interior and exterior can turn heads. I have had several people very surprised when they learned my car was a Hyundai. If your looking for a better buy don` go any further than XG350L

I have no complaints other than the gas mileage but that's to be expected when purchasing a v6. The comfort is amazing, the acceleration response is great, overall performance is excellent. You definetely get your moneys worth and then some. I have had no issues with the car what-so-ever. The classic design of the car is exactly what I was looking for. I wouldn't trade it for any car in the world. You cannot go wrong with the xg350l. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Nothing about it feels cheap, short cutted or unfinished. 2 big thumbs up.
