Wow! Rav4 Prime vs CR-V Touring Hybrid vs Tucson
I'm a long time Toyota guy and for the most part, their vehicles have not disappointed over the years. We recently went on the search for a new compact SUV and looked at the Rav4 Prime, CR-V Touring Hybrid, and the new Tucson Limited here in the US (both hybrid and non versions). 2021 Rav4 Prime - In fairness to the Rav4 Prime we tested, it just came off the truck when we drove it and it was not charged. So, it drove like a gas hybrid and only saw spurts of performance as a result of the regen. The ride was Ok, performance was adequate, road noise was a bit on the high side, and the interior just seemed dated and pieced together. 2021 CR-V Touring Hybrid - was impressive in almost all respects except the road noise during highway driving was significant. The infotainment system was a bit clutsy as well. Otherwise, it seemed quite refined and was our top choice at the time. But, we decided to wait for the 2022 Tucson (glad we did). 2022 Tucson Limited (gas version) - refined and does most things very well, but the performance is average. 2022 Tucson Limited Hybrid - Wow! What a difference between the two new Tucson models. Put this Hybrid into Sport Mode and it is fun to drive, simply leaving the others in the dust in terms of performance (no practical person would need more acceleration than this (it's not Tesla quick, but as quick as most would drive a Tesla). As for all other aspects, the Tucson Hybrid is hard to beat in almost every category. The interior is fantastic in all respects with the exception of the piano black and touchscreen controls that look nice now but likely a dust-collecting annoyance down the road. There are a few downsides to note: 1) no spare tire and that IMO is a significant oversight by Hyundai since it appears there's room for at least a donut spare. 2) for some reason that Hyundai won't publicly address, the 10.25 Infotainment screen on the higher end models does not support "wireless" Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto (only wired support). However, that wireless feature is available on the lower end trims. So hopefully, there's a firmware update for this deficiency. We bought the Hybrid Limited in White w/ gray interior and couldn't be happier. I honestly don't know why Hyundai is even bothering making the gas version, given the small price difference. We did consider waiting for the PHEV version, but, liked this hybrid version so much we jumped on it. A few things to note on the Limited trim: the wipers are rain sensing and the passenger seat is full electric including up & down functions. The safety and tech on this vehicle is nearly insane and will take you some time to digest it all. Impressive. One other thing to note, all of the electrified versions of the Tucson (hybrid included) are made in Ulsan, South Korea (VIN beginning with "K"). Comparing the fit and finish of the Tucson's from the Alabama plant vs the Korea plant show better refinement on those rolling off the Ulsan assembly line, at least by my eyes as inspecting the reveal tolerances between body panels at my dealership. Given the tech, safety features, comfort, and performance of the new Tucson Hybrid, it's certainly worth the test drive if considering this class of SUV. If reliability proves positive over time, this Tucson is a game-changer in this class and hopefully inspires my friends at Toyota to significantly step up their game.

A solid choice
I have purchased 2 of these vehicles, 1 on 13 May 21, the other on 2 July 21. They are both SEL Convenience packages. The first in Amazon Grey with 2-tone Grey and Black interior, beautiful ! The second one in Quartz White Pearl with all black interior. The black interior is nice but the 2 tone is very stunning. I picked the SEL Convenience packages because it gave me everything I wanted in the vehicle, and had the appearance of the Limited along with the panoramic roof and 19 inch wheels. I am not a fan of leather and I do not need ventilated seats with cloth. The stereo is perfect without being a Bose...This model is loaded with all the right features. I have owned all of the Toyota Hybrid models. I got rid of each model because of noise and rattles and uncomfortable seats. With the break-in period this car smooths out after about 1000 miles. I get excellent mileage I accelerate to five MPH above the limit then let off the pedal and wait for the EV indicator to come on and feather the pedal back on. I constantly watch the EV light. I constantly achieve 43 or more MPG in mixed driving. That is as good as my RAV4, and this is with a real AWD setup, not electric as in the RAV4. The engine is so quiet ,and acceleration is amazing. This vehicle feels effortless driving it. This is my favorite vehicle I have ever had and I have had way over a hundred. I am sure Hyundai will offer a spare tire kit for those who really want one, since there is already one in the gas version I feel this is the best looking vehicle Hyundai has put out, besides Genesis. I feel they have gone up market with the Tuscan. With all of the Warranty and free maintenance and the dealer included a lifetime powertrain warranty for free, you just cannot lose. I have now had the last vehicle for 3 months and a few days the last one I purchased . It has been fantastic. Consumer reports has now listed this as the number one vehicle over Honda and RAV4 hybrids. They loved it for the same reasons I love it. Hyundai in Kia have really upped their game. UPDATE: I have now had this vehicle 9 months and 9,500 MI,what a perfect vehicle this has been. This is the second best vehicle rated by consumer reports number one was the Kia telluride with 97 points. Next highest was the 22 Hyundai Tucson hybrid with 93 points. This score really represents the car well. I do not have one complaint on the car. It does everything perfectly. I am so happy I purchased this car. It does everything you expect it to do. With the snow we had this winter nothing could stop this car even on streets where all the 4x4s were sitting on the side of the street stuck,my car just kept going I'm sure it has something to do with the Michelin primacy all season tires. The four-wheel drive system works perfectly.

Love this car!!
Ride is smooth Seats are very comfortable Lots of leg room in the back row (for tall folks) Lots of trunk space Get the convenience and premium package. It’s so worth it. So many great features! You will love the heated/cooling seats and steering wheel, as well as the lane assist and cruise control features used together (feels like you are driving a Tesla car that drives itself). This car is loaded with safety features. Plus the Bose sound system just puts the icing on the cake.

Love the 2022 hyundai tuscon
Test drove and looked at a lot of cars in this segment including luxury lines. For the price, technology, ride and style, the hyundai tuscon really separated itself. We purchased the AWD Hybrid Limited version. I've seen some negative reviews about everything being touch screen, however, I don't agree that its an issue. With apple car play, you really aren't touching the screen that often except to make an occasional climate change. I could see how non-tech savvy or elderly drivers would not appreciate it but we absolutely love it. Car drives really well. The panoramic roof and windows make the car feel bigger than it is. Would recommend this car to anyone looking in this segment. It really was no comparison after looking at 6-7 different competitors/lines.
Spunky Compact SUV with Great Tech
We purchased a Hybrid Limited which now has a 1000 miles. We shopped the CRV, RDX, Q3/Q5, RAV4, Outback, CX5, Forrester. The Hybrid quickly rose to the top of the list due to its “torquey” performance. If you do the majority of your driving at speeds above 75 mph+ on freeways this vehicle is probably not for you as you definitely can easily go that fast and more but MPG suffers. I am now getting 35 MPG with a variety of suburban back street and freeway driving. I was reluctant at first to pull the trigger due to one main weakness touch controls. I have found this to not be a big deal at all. The tech is very strong with excellent voice control. Another weakness is a so so Bose Audio system - luckily the vehicle is very quiet at speeds below 70 mph. The driving assistance (HDA, etc.) is excellent and blows away most other systems in the other vehicles I tested. I am very happy with this vehicle and hope it is as reliable as our 2008 CRV EXL that has been passed down to two our kids. I feel pretty good about this however as the chassis is very solid, the acceleration and smoothness exudes quality and thoughtfulness of the design shows that they really want to be a strong competition in this segment. In short put this on your list unless you drive freeway all the time at high speeds.

Loaded with extras
For $32k this car has everything you could ever want! Exceptional styling right down to the 19" rims. Interior amenities are plentiful topped off with the panoramic sunroof. Supple ride and comfortable seating. Sport mode gives zippy performance. Ultra wide rear doors for easy access to rear seats. The LED headlights integrated to the grill is a uniquely cool look. Overall, a great car for any amount but reasonably priced.
Don’t Pay More For The Hybrid!
I purchased the 2022 Tucson Hybrid (limited) on April 30, 2021. I first noticed the Highway mpg was around 27-31mpg, which was slightly worse than what my 2013 Tucson could get. I then started noticing the car felt like the gears were getting stuck all winter, and the electric motor did not turn on at all in cold weather. Where the trouble really started was around 8,000-10,000miles when city mpg went down to 25-27mpg. I started getting around 27mpg on the interstate. On my next oil change, I asked about mpg not being close to the 36-38mpg sticker. They tried to insinuate I was “going to the wrong gas stations. Hybrids don’t get better gas mileage, and 27mpg is great for the car!” After much debate and them looking at the sticker on the same make, they resynced the computer. It started getting 34-45mpg on my city work drive again. The next tank of gas was interstate, where it got 27mpg with no cruise control/no steering assist/eco mode. The next interstate tank averaged 22-25.5mpg. It’s not getting 300 mile range on a tank. My other issue with this Tucson is it is completely unsafe to drive outside of city lighting at night. The headlights are positioned to where it creates a dark band in the driver’s view to where you cannot see across the Highway at night. It is completely unsafe; I thought maybe it was my height or seat position. However, I have seen multiple reviews with all the same complaints as me, so now I know I’m not alone.

Entire hybrid system failed. Less than 500 miles
I am not sure what the issue is but our brand new 2022 Tucson hybrid won’t drive and the entire hybrid system failed. It’s in the shop and they are working with Hyundai to figure it out. Not cool with a brand new car. I’d avoid it! We love our other Hyundai’s, we’ve had a Santa Fe and 2 other Tucson’s. This one seems like a lemon already!

Very disappointed so far
Well, I have only 340 miles on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Blue, drove it for 4 days and now it is in the shop. The car does not accelerate. I am told the accelerate sensor is bad. When you are at a stop the car barley moves until you reach about 25 MPH which takes about 10 seconds. Now the dealership has had if for 6 days and told me they don't have an availability for the part, it could 2 weeks or 2 months, they state they don't know when or if the part is available because the car is so new and part shortage ........ blah blah blah. Maybe take the part from a vehicle in stock and have the dealership wait for the part before they can sell the vehicle. I reached out to Hyundai directly and was told someone would contact me within 10 days. Only checked one star because I had too to submit the review. I am very disappointed with Hyundai
2022 HYBRID Tucson With LIMITED Trim For The Win!
First of all, to address no spare- they had to do what they could to reduce the weight of the vehicle, and their focus group data revealed that less than 1% of 1% have ever used their spare. YES, its nice to have, but so are GREAT Mpg #'s! Second, i don't know too many ppl who WANT the passengers dinking around with the radio, no knob helps to keep their "paws off" For my OWN paws, there's a up/down & MUTE button right on my steering wheel : ) Only fault i couldfind is the incandesent bulbs & extremely low placement of turn signals/reverse lights....(its almost as if they 99 & 99% done and got to that point and said, "lets call it a day" and never came back to finish the design...lol This SUV does so many thing GREAT, and EVERYTHING else REALLY well! i even loved how the big H in rear window was super easy for my "tint guy" to slap on a piece of limo window tint, you no longer see the H...look so good without that badging : ) Between the 3/36 FREE maintenance, 3/36 Blue Link FREE subscription, 5/60 bumper to bumper/10 year powertrain AND 10 year on electric battery couple with the gazillion features (even some of which you can't get with ANY other vehicle- Blind Spot Camera View in Dash- looking at u Rav 4 : ) you CAN NOT go wrong with this version of the Tucson!!!!!
Mileage
While the Tucson 2022 hybrid is highly rated, comfortable, and attractive, the gas mileage is not what's advertised. I have driven this car for almost 12,000 miles over the past 15 months with over 70% of the mileage was city driving, and the car computer indicates that my overall mileage is 31.9 mpg. For a hybrid, this is not much better than comparable gas engines such as CRV OR RAV4. Still the Tucson is extremely nice to drive with numerous high tech features in the Limited edition. Buy it for those features , not the gas mileage!

A Lemon is still a Lemon no matter what
Two month old vehicle has been in the shop 4 times including two overnight stays. The stay before this was for TPMS. The computer also told them there was a problem with the cooling system but they did not check it out or tell me about it until I received an engine warning light that printed out the cooling system problem. Been in shop 3 days now. poor service and defective vehicle.

Exceeds expectations
This SUV is fantastic. Great list features. It is extremely quiet. Great gas mileage. In my opinion, great looking. Add to that to 3 years complimentary service, 5 years bumper to bumper coverage, 3 years Blue Link Service. My only complaint, I had to wait 7 months to get it UPDATE: This SUV is a fantastic vehicle. Not one problem. You would be hard pressed to find a vehicle with all these features at any price. And they all work flawlessly

SEL Hybrid
This review is in regards to the SEL (middle option) hybrid. We spent several months looking for vehicles in this class. Due to the ridiculously high used car market we even considered certified pre owned luxury SUVs (Acura RDX, Mercedes, Volvo etc) but the idea of repair costs scared us off. Luckily Hyundai redesigned the Tucson and the cherry on top was that if offered a hybrid version. We considered the Honda CRV but didn’t like the look nor did we like the Toyota RAV 4. After 3 months of having our Tucson for 3 months we couldn’t be more pleased. The interior looks nice, the drive is nice and the gas mileage is strong (city driving is great, it does take a dip while on the highway but still better than its gas competitors). The vehicle is so nice we recommended it to my brother and he and his fiancé have preordered one as well! You’d be remiss if you didn’t consider the Hyundai Tucson before purchasing a compact SUV

Terrible 1.6T Engine
Love the SUV, but the main component (the engine) is horrible. When accelerating, especially uphill, the engine sounds like it's about to come apart. This problem started all of a sudden at about 1,000 mi (6 weeks into ownership). It came about with a bang driving under 10mph in a parking lot. No trouble codes thrown so Hyundai says nothing wrong. Google it, several others have complained about the same pinging-like action when the engine revs above 2,000 rpm and driving under a load. It's annoying to the point you have to turn up the radio to dround out the sound. Such a disappointment and Hyundai's warranty is useless when they say they can't find anything wrong.

Totally Disappointed
This car gets a one star because it started out great with all the bells and whistles working. This hybrid limited is unsafe to drive. It cut off while driving in flowing traffic. Battery and check engine light flashing. The two closest dealerships could not take the car for a month. The car is 1 1/2 hour away and they have had the car for over a month now and it's still not fixed. A technician was called in to fix the car and he can't figure out what's wrong. They changed the water pump, flushed coolant, and changed the 12v battery. I'm calling every 2 days to get answers bc they don't follow up. This is a nightmare!!! The car only has 15,000 miles on it with 2 oil changes since buying it. These are the DTC codes that are on my Bluelink: P056200 Powertrain, P177500 Powertrain, P177400 Powertrain, U100700 Powertrain, C110216 Chassis, U100787 HEV, P1A8B00 FCEV. Save yourself the heartache, don't purchase this hybrid.
Where to begin… let’s start with glitchy tech
Have the hybrid blue and while it has a great look and incredible gas mileage, I can’t get past all the problems and truly wished I read the legit owner reviews and just kept my trusty RAV-4. Here are a few of the issues so far (less than 5k miles): CarPlay drops and screen goes black at least once during each drive. Hyundai blames Apple and Apple blames Hyundai. “Shifter System Malfunction” message and wasn’t able to shift from park to drive until restarted car (no code recorded, so no help from dealer svc dept) Embarrassingly LOUD reverse beeping - like louder than a dump truck Pinging/loud engine noise at low speed on inclines - WHY? No spare tire (as mentioned in other reviews) Radio begins playing after phone calls for absolutely no reason So far the dealership has been no help and cites “the car is too new” for them to address the problems. Hope these problems are addressed and corrected, but won’t hold my breath.

We got two of the Blue models.
My husband and I each bought one last month. We've never been so happy with a car. I got the white one and he got the black one. They drive like a dream and it's just so fun. I feel good about the safety features because I always have kids with me and one of my sons drives it on a regular basis. It's absolutely a beautiful car! We tend to keep our cars for a few years, but the Hyundai warranty will convince us to hold on to these. Great pep from a corner stop, smooth and quiet around town, and fun on the highway.

Bought a second 2022 Tucson Hybrid
UPDATE: 5/22/24 My 22 Tucson Hybrid Limited now has 22k miles on the odometer. The car is still stellar in every way. Everything is holding up exceptionally well. I paid MSRP less a $500 rebate and was forced to buy some nonsense $1000 add on stuff. At the time, that was still a fantastic deal. Many dealers were charging a 5 to 10k market adjustment and getting it. The 24 model of this exact vehicle is now widely available around here. The discounts off MSRP are 3 to 5K and that's pre any rebates. The fact that I can now buy the 24 for around 34K is amazing. For the money, nothing else comes close in my opinion. We love both of our Tucson Hybrids. We're getting a very steady 37MPG. Great car, comfortable, rides pretty nice, and has enough power to be quite peppy if needed. My main disappointment is the Bose stereo system. It's a shame they changed to Bose. For us, these are perfect. Edmunds was very helpful with their reviews when it came time to buy. In August I purchased an SEL CONVENIENCE. I love it so much, I decided to buy another. This time I went for the Limited Hybrid. It cost about 6K more than the SEL CONVENIENCE, but it's got a ton of extra stuff. The steering seems to be nicer on the Limited. More firm and responsive to me. The tech is amazing. I love all the extra goodies. Smaht Pahk is very cool. The cameras and warnings are just so helpful when parking. The vehicle rides quiet and smooth. The NAV is great. It's just unbelievable that you can get this much car for this price in today's market. There are a few thing that aren't as nice as the SEL CONVENIENCE. The headlights as an example, are great when looking straight ahead. However, when turning, they don't difuse well and the ability to see around the corner is not nearly as good as on the SEL CONVENIENCE. The Bose Stereo system is maybe 1/4 of a notch better than the SEL CONVENIENCE Stereo. Why on earth did Hyundai stop using what they did prior to 2022? The final con, all that piano black super shiny plastic is a dust magnet. I keep a microfiber in each of our Tucson Hybrids, because the dust sticks out like soar thumb. It still irks me that there's no spare tire in either one. I give it 5 stars, but Hyundai really cheaper out on the stereo, lack of a spare tire, and the poor design of the Limited headlights is dangerous.

Best CUV on the market today
2022 Hyundai Tucson SEL CONVENIENCE HYBRID Great build quality, great fit and finish, great looking, great to drive, great mileage, great technology, great safety features, great riding CUV! This trim comes well packed with plenty of great options. No leather covered seats. No Bose stereo, but a nice 6 speaker stereo that cranks fine. Only 10 colors of interior ambient lighting vs 64 in the Limited Trim. No Smaht Pahk. Other than that it is loaded. Lots of room. I love this CUV. Oh and a stunning value at $33,335. Don't forget the best warranty in the entire car industry. "Hyundai, tomorrows styling, safety, and technology, at last century prices" I own that!!!!!!! Update: 4/12/24 Still my favorite Hyundai ever. 37 MPG combined. Runs like a dream. Not a single issue. When I bought mine, I considered the best CUV value on the may. That opinion still stands. Rides smooth, quiet, and has enough power for my needs. In sport mode it's really got some quickness. No, it's not a super fast vehicle by any stretch, but it has zero acceleration lag or problems keeping up with any traffic. Given the prices of new cars, I'm keeping this for the long haul. Still looks like new as well. The silver color helps. It's unfortunate that Hyundai has jacked their prices so much. They're no longer a great value proposition IMO. The pricing now is likely to steer many towards Toyota, IMO.

Great improvements on Tucson
This is my third Tucson. I had a 2016, a 2018 and now a 2022 Hybrid SEL. I love the improvements Hyundai has made. The body style is absolutely awesome. The new head and tail lights are functional and very cool looking. The body moulding looks great and protects the paint along the bottom all around the vehicle. The Michelin all season tires and cool rims complete the hot looks on the outside of the Tucson. The interior is completely updated, also. So beautiful and comfortable! Never had a hybrid before but I get awesome gas mileage. The ride is very smooth. The 1.6 liter turbo motor has amazing pickup. Nothing sluggish about this SUV! Only 2 things I would change and they are incredibly minor- the console in the center of front seats is very roomy but there is no tray so all your stuff is just kinda in a jumble in there. I found one on Amazon that fits perfectly. The auto locks on the drivers side door are so sensitive that the car occasionally unlocks then locks again before you can open the door. Again both very minor issues. I love my new Tucson!

Great car but gas mileage disappoints
I really like this car. It is fun to drive, handles great, is comfortable, and the storage is well optimized inside. I think the technology is very well integrated. I would have preferred real buttons and knobs instead of the touch screen controls, but it is not that bad. The low turn signals on the back are also dumb. The part that really disappoints is the gas mileage. I have 1400 miles and my fill ups are all between 27 and 30 mpg. Driving on the interstate at 70 mph with the cruise control set, I got a lousy 27.7 mpg over 50 miles. This is 6 - 8 miles below the EPA estimates. On all my other cars I am between the highway and city on my normal commute and often exceed the highway estimate on highways. Some people seem to do really well with gas mileage on this same car. I find it really hard to believe that this car is going to get significantly getter gas mileage when it gets warmer out.

Looks great, but has issues
I have a 2022 Tuscan blue and recently it started leaking oil. Taken to shop to find out I have a leaking head gasket. This is not good for a vehicle with 6100 miles. Warranty is great and local dealer has been good so far fixing issue. Also the vehicle lacks power, even though it's fun to drive.

Driving at night is dangerous
the headlights on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Ltd are a safty hazard. Turning on the headlights create a dark shadow , triangle. When turning you can't see. Have to drive with the high beams on all of the time. If I had driven this at night, I would not have purchased it. So far Hyundai is playing dumb about the issue.

'22 Tucson Hybrid - sayonara Premium Gas!
I took ownership of a 2022 Tucson Hybrid SEL Convenience last week and am really pleased with the combination of mpg, tech, and comfort. I chose a black on black mostly due to supply, but am glad I did. My only annoyance is with the reverse notification noise. The vehicle sounds like a UPS truck when I reverse, but I understand having the alarm is an NHTSA requirement. Coming from a 2012 VW Tiguan SE, the tech on the new vehicle is equivalent to going into frozen animation in the 1970's and defrosting today. The wireless Carplay is a great feature, as is the extra pep the turbo provides when you kick it into Sport mode. I'm glad that I have a warranty that makes sense, as the VW turbo failed at 3.5 years, right after the warranty expired (intake flap). Das prior purchase was pretty close to a lemon. I was not sad to see it go. I'm excited to see what the future holds for this vehicle.

Poor Highway Fuel Economy.
I absolutely love everything about this vehicle except for the real world fuel economy on the highway. In the city I average about 36 mpg. On the highway it is more in the 25-26 mpg range. Don't buy the vehicle based on fuel economy estimates. I made that mistake.

MPG is much lower than advertised. My vehicle has only been driven for 4 months and has not ever gone over 29 MPG city or highway. There's also a lot of beeps & noises internally; many of these features cannot be disabled.

Remarkable Vehicle
I purchased this car after a four year Volvo XC-40 lease. As comfortable and easy to drive as the XC-40 with [understandably] new technology. Great mileage -- genuinely around 35 mpg. Spectacular feature: turn signal reveals driver display view of lane camera.

Very Disappointed-Tucson Hybrid Blue
Purchased the Hybrid Blue end of May 2021 based on the EPA mileage estimate of 38 mpg. I am averaging 30mpg with mostly city driving, 26 to 28 mpg on the highway at 70 mph. Android Auto doesn't engage and the dealer hasn't been able to tell me why. The blind spot monitoring alarms and lane control are malfunctioning at times. No spare tire is a major detraction also. Overall, features are minimal given the price tag. UPDATE: Have owned this 2022 Tucson Blue hybrid for 18 months. Very disappointed in the mpg. Except for a couple months this summer, the mpg has averaged about 34; and suddenly dropped to 29 in November. While I understand colder weather affects the mpg, it shouldn't be this bad. Also, the hybrid system failure light came on and the car stalled. Dealer couldn't reconstruct the problem but stated that there have been a "few minor issues" identified that they are working on. Given the poor mpg compared the advertised performance and stall problem for a new vehicle I wouldn't chose this car again. No spare tire proved to be an issue when I had a flat on the highway and roadside assistance wouldn't show up for hours.

Best feature for your $$$
We had been waiting for the 2022 Genesis GV70 to arrive. When we went to the dealership to purchase the GV we saw the 2022 Hyundai hybrid limited, the exterior was very impressive, the technology features are amazing. After comparing the two SUV the Tucson won hands down with its technology features, and $8k less. We drove our new Tucson from the west coast all the way cross country to the east coast. The vehicle handled all weather conditions (rain, snow, freezing rain, dust storms). It coasted thru the mountain very smoothly. It gets about 40-45 miles/gallon, perfect for today’s gas prices Only downside is the interior seats and dash aren’t higher quality materials, but it’s not a Genesis, Mercedes luxury interior. Otherwise, it’s a Big Bang for your bucks. We are very pleased with our new 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited AWD. UPDATE: We have driven/move across the country from NV to MD traveling with a cat and a dog. This SUV exceeded our exceptions as we drove in just about every weather conditions in Dec of 2021. We have been on the east coast for over a year now in MD and have been amazed how this SUV has performed and still learning more amazing technology features. The 2022 Tucson had by far exceeded our expectations when we selected this Hybrid/AWD limited model over a based Genesis GV70 for $14k less. We love the ability to remote start our car in the cold winter months, having heated steering wheel as well as back heated seats. This is the greatest vehicle we have owned( I have had several new MB. Thank you!

Love it except the awful gas milage
absolutely love everything about this vehicle except the gas milage issue. at 8,000 miles now, been thru the shop several times and only getting 26-28 average mpg. dealing with Hyundai motor corp and they have been miserable to deal with stating 28 is the average, but its marketed at 38 average. Trading it in for non hybrid since we cannot find thru hyundai dealer what the issue is causing the poor gas milage, using non cheap gas. We've seen others have same issues but never see any resolve. if we didn't love the other aspects of this vehicle, we would be done with hyundai due to their terrible consumer service

No spare of any type!
I agree that this is a great car- drove RAV4 and Venza- noisy, sluggish, not agile at all. After driving the hybrid Tucson I saw the handling, steering, acceleration, fit and trim differences and decided to purchase it. Went to the rear and looked for the donut and equipment and found a Tire Repair Kit consisting of a compressor and a can of inflatable goo. Possibly ok for a strategically placed nail but not for sidewall damage or pothole induced wheel damage. Nobody wrote about this in any of my research! I can’t put my wife and kids in a position where their best option from AAA in an emergency is a tow to the nearest garage- who would? There are aftermarket spare kits but none can fit in the useless well under the rear floor! If you’re reviewing safety features how do you let no spare capability go and give Hyundai a pass on cheating out or not thinking through further the engineering of this vehicle?

Aggravating drive
My Tucson hybrid has several annoying features… when you put the car in reverse it has a warning beep for pedestrians. It sounds like a service vehicle when it is backing up. The front headlight setup is low and due to car styling, it causes a severe dark blind spot ahead when driving at night. Not sufficient coverage for safe driving. Finally, the radar sensors are worthless. I have been warned of a possible collision when no car is even near me, and when it rains heavily or snows and I am driving into the rain or snow, the sensors go berserk and warn me that they are unable to safely protect me from surrounding dangers. Instead I get numerous warning lights and pictures of crashing cars head on appear on my screen. It is ridiculous!

spare tire hybrid SEL
disappointed that they only provide a flat tire kit for the Hybrid Tucson SEL but if you take out the entire foam insert under the cargo floor there is an indentation for a full size tire. looks like it would take a 17 inch tire and maybe more ? didn't look close enough to see what kind of hardware one might need to secure the tire. might/probably will need to use the upper of the two tier positions for the cargo area floor.
Smart choice
I had purchased a Ford Bronco Sport and discovered while it looks great, it has so many problems and its build quality is highly questionable. Ended up selling it and got the Tucson Hybrid. Could not be happier. Test drove/researched its competition and IMO, this drives the best, has the best warranty. Its competitors are resting on their laurels and while you can't really go wrong with other choices...they're boring and getting dated. Hyundai is pushing boundaries and creating really good products these days. Highly recommend.

Could be better
Very average gas mileage for hybrid. Slow to start up from a stop; slow acceleration. Paint defect that dealer is claiming is a rock chip. Burning / electrical smell after driving, then parking in my garage. Annoying rattling sound due to loose splash shield. Dealer says Hyundai is aware of the problem, but as of now has no solutions. From previous reviews, I expected better.

Got it all
Got the Limited model and has all the safety technology plus luxury options. Bose sound system is a plus. Great ride and quiet on the highway. Sure beats the hell out of my 2020 Rav4. The Rav4 was noisy. Plus a much better warranty.

Hybrid high five
We were amazed of the amount of features this compact suv has for the price and how accessible all the controls are. The safety features are easy to use, the camera views can be customized but the reverse warning is quite loud. Overall this compact suv is an easy ride that has more pickup then expected and great gas mileage.

dont buy it
for one, it has a back up beep that is louder than any truck I’ve ever driven. My neighbors can hear it when I pull out. You cannot lower it. For that reason alone, I would not recommend anyone purchase this vehicle. If you live in a situation, we are leaving at 3 AM and your parking close to your neighbors, you are going to get yelled at. mpg. advertised 37/37. in the city, actual ( miles driven/gallons ofnfuel to replenish tank). it works out to be 33 or so. on the highway, it is 29 or so. Awful. That’s on long trips driving fast. Using any mode and/or cruise control. Finally. Rear AC. There is none.
Less than 2000 miles and broke down
Love how quiet a ride it is - can have a conversation without yelling. Great camera coverage, very comfortable seats. I’m always cold and am already addicted to the heated seats and steering wheel. Handles nicely with good pick-up. I really like this vehicle EXCEPT it can’t handle driving long distances in cold and snow storms. Day after we bought it we began drive across Canada from Washington State to Alaska and broke down in a blizzard with temperatures of 9 Fahrenheit, in the middle of nowhere. We limped into Whitehorse YT Canada at 20 mph. We putt less than 2000 miles on vehicle (now has 6300 miles total) and HEV system is down. We were on the phone for over 1.5 hours with Customer Care before a resolution was made: we independently tow vehicle from Whitehorse YT Canada to Anchorage, Ak ($5000 US) with hopes of reimbursement. (We were assured at dealer in WA that roadside assistance worked in Canada too and was covered by warranty) Lithia Hyundai of Anchorage can’t get vehicle diagnosed for 1 week because they “get over 100 vehicles/week to repair and must prioritize repairs. Hybrids take longer to get scheduled for repair.” They are too busy. We do like the car but due to mechanical issues so soon after purchasing, marginal customer care and not being able to get repairs done in a timely manner, maybe this is not the wisest choice for a vehicle.

Some downers but still happy
Love the look, comfort and safety features. Consistently achieve ~150 mpg for my around town driving when staying relatively on top of charging. Things I wish were better engineered in no order: 1. Bluelink app. Unreliable and low quality. 2. Car frequently opts for hybrid instead of all electric even when charged. Influenced by weather under 60. Other times for no apparent reason. 3. No way from menu or app to cap charge limit at certain %. Service told me it doesn’t matter since I low volt charge but I don’t buy it. 4. Hybrid mpg much lower than expected. About 25-30mpg highway or local. 5. EV and hybrid are ok on acceleration but after knowing what a Tesla can do I’m very underwhelmed. Still happy with my purchase.

Hyundai Tuscan Hybrid Rocks
I got a 2022 Tuscan Hybrid in Oct of 2021. We looked at CR—V and Rav 4 and Mazda CX5. A temperature sensor had to be replaced on the front end but since that everything has been great. We get 38 to 40 mpg and have been very satisfied with this suv. I love the panoramic sunroof and love how quiet the hybrid is. The only complaint is the back up warning that sounds like a garbage truck. Very satisfied so far with this purchase and we have 28,000 miles now.

Great car!
Good - nice acceleration, tight suspension, great safety features (eg. steering assist, breaking assist, parking assist, multiple camera views), voice control, remote start, heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, multi-view screen, hybrid engine, wireless phone charger, huge moon roof, great lights, luxurious interior feel, spacious back seats. Bad - push buttons instead of gear shifter handle, touch-only controls for stereo/AC/navigation (no knobs), my right knee always hits the entertainment system lower left corner while driving, plug-in necessary for Apple Play, actual mileage does not seem to match promoted mileage (4 weeks). Overall - Very pleased with this choice. Fun to drive.

Hybrid Limited Trim but Unlimited Quality & Value
As gas approaches $4 a gallon again this summer, this safe, well appointed, extremely quiet SUV delivers high mpg (35 to 37) with all the bells and whistles anyone could possibly want. Update at 10500 miles: this is a well designed, fun to drive medium sized SUV combining a terrific hybrid with a turbo that produces the 36 to 37 mpg mentioned before. Only improvements I would make to this vehicle would be better nighttime driving lights, add fog lights, and get a real shifter not the electronic one.

Terrible MPG
So I thought at first it was my dream car then after having it for six months I found out a few things. The sound it makes when it backs up is really obnoxiously loud, embarrassing. The touch screen is beautiful but I miss having buttons, also the screens collect a lot of lint/dirt. The leather is not very durable I already have a small hole in the back seats. The back seat cup holders only hold small kid size cups, very annoying! When backing up even without a vehicle in the way if it has even a small sign of a vehicle it will slam on the break, also annoying. Now the MPG issue I have never gotten the advertised 38 mpg! I average 27-29 in the city/highway, not what I was expecting- I could have spent less and gotten a gas vehicle with similar mpg!!! I also had to wait 6 months to get a spare key because they were on back order through Hyundai. The car is pretty and functional even though sluggish but most hybrids are. The backseat has good leg room. I wish it got the advertised mpg- very disappointing!!
