This car was JUNK!

Soon after we bought this car we discovered a major problem with the transmission. When backing up, the transmission produced an audible and physical vibration, similar to a shudder. That wasn't the worst of it though. When trying to pull onto the road from a stop position the transmission really misbehaved. Sometimes it would gallop to a start. At other times you would press the accelerator and the car would not move. That made this very dangerous to drive in any locations that have even moderate traffic. We told our dealer about it but we're told, that that condition is normal. At somewhere near 100,000, mi. The car began drinking oil. There was no evidence that it was leaking or even burning oil but the oil was going somewhere. I was putting about a quart a week in it and once again when brought to the dealer we were told that this was normal oil consumption. We just bought a new Honda and of course steering the showering experience we did not even slightly consider Hyundai. It's too bad for them because I've heard they make some pretty good cars but once burned twice removed.

At 76K and still feels like new. Turbo offers great acceleration, but I don't push it unless I have to. The dealer replaced my transmission for free a few years ago, even though I wasn't having problems. Did have to replace my AC early on, but that was on warranty. Also had problems with my moon roof early on, so I don't open it much anymore. It doesn't handle Arizona dust very well. Probably true of any moonroof, so my next car won't have one.

Buyers Beware! Engine burns oil and Hyundai is aware of the issue but they do NOT want to resolve this issue. Instead they will make every excuse to not resolve the issue. I will never purchase a Hyundai vehicle. Shame on Hyundai corporation.

Engine Burns Oil

Do not purchase Hyundai Tucson. I purchased this beast in Tinley Park, IL dealership and corporate are aware that there are issues with 2017 engines burning oil. The car has died while driving due to burning oil. No warning lights and the car just stops. Apparently I have to get killed in an auto accident or burn over 1 quart of oil before the dealership or corporate does anything. This is the first time and last time I ever purchase a Hyundai vehicle Shame on you Hyundai corporation. People work hard for their money and they get screwed by you. Do right by consumers.

Warranty runs out so does window motors

My Tucson hit the 60k mark a couple of weeks into the quarantine. Prior to the actual 60k mark my right hip had to be replaced and the nearest surgeon was 87 miles away. I had 300 miles left before the hip problem and couldn’t get in to get the first window fixed due to COVID-19 and my hip (right side). I had several trips back to the surgeon due to complications (not his fault, prior medical problems on my part) which put me at 60,497 (appropriately, but it was under 500) miles. They closest dealership refused to honor the warranty under the circumstances. And by then the other window on the same side had fallen down and quit working. I had to get a loan and took it to a local mechanic who found a THIRD window went out while he was working on the other two! He had to stop work on the back passenger window because it was the driver’s window that had gone out and it is more important. We will duct tape the back window for now. I will use bright duct tape and write a warning on it about the company’s lack of consideration in extenuating circumstances. Do NOT BUY THIS CAR!

Engine will hesitate on acceleration from a stop . The dealer service department claim that they all perform the same way. I should add that this was my wifes car and until now I never drove the car. She handled bringing it to service by herself.

Great Overall!

I bought the Tucson brand new in 2017. 4 years and 45k miles laters, I have no issues what so ever. The seats are comfortable, technology is great, and there is plenty of room in the cabin. The Tuscon does get a little bumpy when lowering gears but doesn't happen every time. Their is a sport mode but I honestly don't notice a difference between the sport and eco mode. In the last 4 years, my Tuscon is averaging 27.3 mpg. I mostly do stop and go driving on a daily basis. Would recommend the Hyundai Tuscon!
