Traveling in a Tucson
I purchased this car last November. I researched a lot of SUV's before deciding on this one. I am also a previous Hyundai owner. This SUV rides very smooth and is comfortable for long road trips. The interior looks sharp as well as the outside. The two things that it is missing is a latch for the trunk on the inside (it's opened only from the outside) and there are not any lights in the mirrors in the sun visors. I find that to be odd. Every vehicle should have it. The gas is not as good as they report it to be. I have never reached the 29 mpg. The best highway miles I have received was 25.8. The best city miles I have received is 24.6. Overall, it still has better gas mileage than most..... Now 2 yrs later. The quality of the material on the seats are terrible. By looking at my seats, you would think I have small children. They are stained up terribly as if something spilled on all the seats. For the record, I haven't had many people in the back seat. I hope before I trade it in, they come clean. The material is very poor in quality.

skeptical customer..
As the professional reviews stated, the limited version engine may not be as smooth a ride.. or sound as quiet as its competition. Yet, I'm in love with my car. U can't best this price.. and they hold their value.. the look is stunning, the options are fabulous. People tell me it looks like I'm driving a Lexus.. and I definitely feel like I am! (minus the road noise, I blame it on the 18 inch tires) I have a 2001 Hyundai sonata with almost 200000 miles, I wanted to try something different and the last brand I looked at was a Hyundai, and look what I ended up with! Almost bought a subaru.. so glad I didnt! I Will update in 3 years!

Excellent Entry Level Crossover Type SUV
For the 2013 Model Year this vehicle offered an impressive package of goodies. All of which made the purchase of this vehicle very simple when it came to comparing to the other vehicles being offered in competition in its class, (IE: Honda CRV, Toyota RAV-4, Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX Series, Ford Escape, and a few others). For the sticker price of what came included this vehicle was nearly loaded with all of the features you could really hope would be included. So Huyndai did it again when it came to bang for the buck and backed by their warranty. Lets do start with some adjustments I made to my vehicle upon purchase. The first being the stock headlights. They are good, but could be better. I equipped mine with the Sylvania Silver Star Ultras, it made a 80% difference in the night driving experience; better forward vision and better side of road vision with the light spread. The vehicle is equipped with the Active Eco system which controls how the transmission shifts and the A/C System functions. Over the time I have owned this vehicle this system is best used on long road trips where you will indeed see the benefit. Having this system turned on while you are driving in town is more of an irritation than a benefit as the computer in the car is placed in "economy" mode for nearly all of your driving needs. The in-town benefit is minimal, and the fuel savings is negligible at best, and the shift points are skewed to make the engine rather gutless. The acceleration on the vehicle is smooth and fairly quick. By no means will it push you into your seat, but it does indeed get out of its tracks in a hurry. The steering is solid and the response is fairly nimble, and is by far more responsive than the Honda counterpart. The over-all feeling of this vehicle is very good.

Bought a Walking Dead but took off all the Badging
I love this car. I bought the Walking Dead version as the dealer had it on their lot and of course, only the owner can take off badging... so I bought it for far less than the normal price. They never would have sold it with the badging in my market area. I get great gas mileage out of this car. I have exceeded their estimates many times, particularly when I am doing highway driving on a long trip. I can get well over 35 per gallon with consistent highway driving. Car is super comfortable. What I don't understand is why they don't hold their value well. My car is in perfect condition yet, the value seems to be considerably less than I would have thought. I am now updating this review in 2020 and I will highly recommend this vehicle. To this day, the car is still looking and acting like brand new. I look forward to keeping this car for many years to come.

Very pleased with this vehicle
We bought our Tuscon new in August of 2013 and have 27,000 miles on it now. Have not had one problem with the vehicle. Tires still have significant tread left and haven't had to balance them yet. Gas mileage is great, 24-25 in town and 30 on the highway. The ride can be a bit stiff on rough road surfaces but I prefer a taut suspension system. I definitely recommend the 2.4 motor over the 2.0. There are 39000 miles on the vehicle now. Still on the original tires and they have quite a bit of tread left. We have made a few long distance trips with the Tuscon since owning it and while it isn't a higher end luxury SUV the ride is not hard on you. So far no regrets on buying this vehicle. The car now has 47,210 miles on the odometer. Will have to replace the tires in another 2,000 or so. Have had no problems so far, vehicle feels as tight as it did new. I have had the dealer perform all maintenance since day one but has only consisted of oil changes, tire rotation and a coolant change. Even doing the services at the dealer the cost has been very minimal. 52,000 miles on the vehicle, just replaced the tires. Have detected no unusual noises from the power train or suspension, still feels as tight as when new. Getting ready to take a 4,000 mile round trip and have no concerns about the reliability of the vehicle. At 59,000 miles we traded the vehicle in on a larger vehicle as we intend on doing more traveling. At trade in time we had just replaced the tires which was the largest expenditure we had with this vehicle. It was still solid feeling and everything functioned like it did when new.

Hyundai owner for life
This car has converted me solely to Hyundai. It's amazing, great gas mileage, I average 28mpg combined. I can't imagine the reviewers saying that it doesn't have get up and go, it does, I fly onto the highway. The car has every feature and then some, great handling. I have fit a wingback chair and a recliner in the back, at the same time, with the seats down- no problem. Excellent car!!

Love My Tucson!!
This is my first small SUV and I love it so far. I have only had the car 3 weeks and things are going fine. The looks is great, the size is perfect for me and the prices for the GLS model was well worth it especially with all of the additional features that were not available on the Nissan Rogue (my other option). The only 2 bad things I would note for now is the accelaration is a little sluggish but nothing major. The bluetooth does connect to android phones but you cannot control things like you can with and iphone. Overall I am enjoying my new car.
Perky little SUV
Overall I am very happy with my Tuscon. I was extremely surprised by the pick up for a 4 cylinder vehicle, it moves out when you ask for it, no problems passing or maneuvering through traffic. The heated leather seats are fantastic in winter. The privacy windows make me feel secure while driving in the city. The cargo space is adequate, large enough to accommodate 2 bales of hay. The updated electronics get you out of the dark ages and it's great to be able to listen to your own playlist, no annoying ads to listen to. Good fuel economy.

DIY car of the year!!!
Comfort drive for the active DIY enthusiasts. Gave me all the room I needed to bring home my newest projects from paint, plants and large furniture pieces and the gas mileage I needed to get to work. I added the cross bars on the roof racks just in case something didn't fit in the back. You have got to have this.

Stay away from the 2014 Tucson
We love the Hyundai brand this is the third Hyundai we have owned however I would warn consumers to stay away from the 2014 Hyundai Tucson! We purchased the car used and have had no trouble with it in the two years we’ve owned it until the engine failed without warning. We have kept Up on all the maintenance for the vehicle had the recall work done and six months later the engine fails. $10,000 to fix a car worth $11,000.

Good car for price!
My only issue I have had is road noise on drivers side. My wife thinks I have hearing problems until she's driving and realizes it is noisy.

Sick of visiting the mechanic!
I bought my Tucson in November 2013, a month after I had purchased it my problem started...I had not even reached my first oil change and my check engine light was on! I took it to the dealership I bought it from and they hooked it up to their fancy computer and diagnosed the check engine light had came on due to a cylinder misfire. They told me that they would have to do a computer update and that would fix the problem. Long story short I have been back to the dealership on average once a week for the same check engine light to be turned off. I have had a total of 4 computer updates, they have changed my spark plugs and coils two times and I still have the issue! It's been 9 month now!
Lemon
"Engine recall" save all oil change recipes (must be every 30 thousand)get the extended warranty. This engine throws a rod w/ no engine light warning. I only had this car for 1yr and 1/2 used. I can't drive it they won't total it out. Still owe 13.000.
Engine Failed at 101,000 miles.
We bought this car from a Hyundai dealership for my daughter with 94,000 miles on it and paid $10,000 for it. 11 months later with only 7,000 new miles, her engine completely failed on the side of the Interstate. A new engine will cost 12,000 and Hyundai won't cover any cost. This was our first time buying outside of Toyota and Honda, we will never make that mistake again.
Love the Car
Great handling and ride. My only regret is that I didn't get AWD. Nevertheless, I would definitely buy another one.

Hyundai-Great value, dependability and warranty
This is my second Hyundai. As with my first, a 1999 Elantra station wagon, within the first five years of ownership, absolutely nothing went wrong with the vehicle. I did not have to take either back to the dealer for anything. The only reason we stopped using the Elantra was someone pulled out in front of my son and it was totaled, but my son had very minor injuries. I now also own a 2017 Elantra sedan. In two years and 15,000 miles, nothing has gone wrong with it. I'm going to sell my 2014 Tucson to my son, but only because my wife died.

Just got the Tuscon LTD FWD today
Bought this earlier today to replace an 03 Camry. I tested this vs the base Santa Fe Sport. While the Sport was a smoother ride, it was slow and the standard options were underwhelming. Next, I drove the Tuscon LTD FWD. Even though the ride is stiffer, the little 2.4 ltr engine has plenty of get up and go. The standard features on the LTD are plentiful and useful. Options added, mats. cargo net, cargo tray, first aid kit, mudguards and wheel locks. I got the Garnet Red w/ Taupe leather int. It's a sharp looking car. I got an awesome deal on the car. Very awesome vehicle for the money in today's market. IMHO This is my 2nd 2013 Hyundai purchased with the last 30 days. I love Hyundai.
Intake Manifold
I was fairly happy until 49k miles and 3 months after warranty. The runner control valve on intake is going out. Supposed to have 10 yr warranty on powertrain, but was told that mine isn't covered because it is standard emission control. I was not told when I bought it. Very unhappy now.

Bad Tires
I have 15k miles on my car and the tires are bald (3/32 on both front tires). The car is supposed to have a bumper to bumper warranty, but it doesnt cover tires. I went to the tire company (Kumho) they informed me these tires were not meant to last but they will allow me to buy much better tires and they will pay 50%. Hyundai says they are sorry I'm unhappy buy not their problem. I was given lemon tires and now I need to spend more money to replace them.
Truly my best car EVER!!
Bought it new end of 2012. Never bought anything but Chevrolets and Fords over 50 years. Maintenance problems with an Equinox made me try a Hyundai. It now has 120,000 miles and it is still top notch. Including oil changes, a set of tires and a new battery this car is my absolute lifetime favorite. It is fun to drive. Whips in and out of parking places nicely and it looks wonderful....still! The gas mileage is still good and everything in the car works perfectly. I am waiting until the redesigned 2022 Tucson’s come in this summer to purchase another Hyundai. I will never drive anything else. Janet, Ann Arbor, Michigan

Engine failure at 125000
Engine failed after 125000. Paid to have a replacement because it was outside hyundai warranty.....less than a year later replacement engine failed. My mechanic says he is starting to see more and more newer model tuscons with this issue. Update : they have began issuing recalls for the model newer version of this vehicle for catastrophic engine failure.

My favorite car ever
I simply love this car. It feels great driving. In fact, I have to fight my husband and son to drive it when we are together. For reviewer that feels it lacks power, do you have ECO on? as this does save gas but slows the punch down. Mine gets exactly the mileage advertised, is easy to park, fun to drive, and I love all the features such as unlocking without touching my keys and the control panel. Also, when the seats are down it has as much cargo room as my husband's truck. Would have bought this earlier if I had known about this car prior.

Transmission replacement at 12K miles
I bought this car brand new in May 2013 to replace my 2002 Toyota Sienna (which was totalled when rear-ended by another vehicle). The seats were stained within a week when my wet umbrella brushed the seat as I was putting it on the floor. Yes......simple water stains this cheap fabric. I have no small children yet my seats still look horrible. At 12,000 miles my transmission needed replacement! I have previously owned a Toyota Corolla, Celica and Sienna and the quality of the Tucson doesn't even come close. First and last Hyundai I will ever own.

Look around before you buy
We are in our late 60's and wanted a small suv. Mileage is nowhere close to what is advertised about 21MPG. It is underpowered to the point of being dangerous. If you are driving in any kind of wind, HANG ON TO THE WHEEL! Maybe after someone is killed in one of these Hyundai might listen. This is the worst car I have ever owned and I have owned plenty in my lifetime
Tucson 2013
Tucson is a really good car to drive, very confortable and secure. Has a good gas control and powerfull motor.
Demon child
I'm sure there are plenty of good ones, mine wasn't. I could hardly go a month without something happening to it. Most was exterior stuff that I don't blame the vehicle for(had a deer deflected at me, a little old lady hit my front corner u turning into the parallel parking spot in front of me, ect.) However then the issues became mechanical. I had bought it in Sept 2017. By March the passenger side window switch needed to be replaced. I had it in for a complete service in March 2018 as well. I was doing my part to maintain it. Then just 3 months later, my hubby and I headed out for a night away. Well about 215 km(130-ish miles) and over 2.5 hours from home the engine started making not just a knocking noise but a squealing knock. Had to have it towed back about half way that day and the next day towed the rest of the way back to the dealership. Turns out the bearings were wearing out causing metal shavings in the cam shaft. Thankfully I paid for the top of the line extra warranty I could for it being a used vehicle. Total repair bill was about $13,000 of which I had to pay a little over $1000(Canadian). They had it for about 3.5 weeks. The day I got it back, I drove it 10.5 km and had to have it towed back again. They had forgotten to secure the coolant hose clamp so she was leaking coolant and overheating, risking the damn thing exploding as I was about to hop on a highway. That is nothing to do directly with the vehicle but feel that it is worth mentioning. I may never own another Hyundai but will certainly never go back to that dealership.

Great car but I hate the radio
The Tucson is a nice solid SUV that drives and rides like a sedan. The seats are very comfortable, the A/C works perfectly. We love everything about the car except for the radio, which needs a copilot, especially a very young one, to operate. What ever happened to user friendly? Every new Hyundai I get has a completely new radio design and every one gets harder to use. No pushbutton resets on this one, and there is a small display that is impossible for the driver to see and use while driving. A very unsafe situation if you want to change stations on the highway. I have complained to Hyundai but they don't seem to understand.
Great vehicle.
Very good on gas. Has the ability to pick up speed quick. It maneuvers very well with ease. Very good compact SUV.

Engine failure at 112,000 kms
My engine failed at 112,000 kms. Enough said.
Wife’s car
This is a very dependable car. This car runs like a top and the owner (my wife) loves it. We have a loaded limited edition with 52k on it. Fourth of July weekend the engine failed. I towed it to my friendly Hyundai dealer in Lakeland Florida. They gave my wife a loaner and told us we’ll call you after we install a new engine. Three weeks later they called and said your car is done. They installed a complete new engine at no charge, what more could I ask for? So now i have an almost new and perfect car.
