Used 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe Consumer Reviews
I love my santa fe
My husband and I went looking and test drove a few and with his severe back injuries could not find one that was comfortable for him, until he sat in the Santa Fe, he said this is the one. This is my first suv and I am loving it, roomy and fairly economical. We love it and I like it better than driving his 30+ thousand trans sport van.
Great value
I compared Pathfinder, 4-Runner and BMW X3 and this car had, on balance, more features for far less expense. The warranty is also better than each of the others. It is incredibly well- constructed, quiet and with plenty of power (especially with the combo transmission). Visibility is great. My wife loves it.

Love my Hyundai
Excellent car for traveling and around the city. Great for carrying a good amount of college supplies. Love it
Like this vehicle!
I previously have leased Nissan Maxima's and have been very happy with these cars. Living in Minnesota, this time I decided that I'd like to try an all-wheel drive vehicle. Although I have only had the Santa Fe a short time I can see that I am going to enjoy driving this vehicle. So far I can find nothing major to criticize.
I love my Sante Fe
We purchased our Sante Fe to tow behind our new motorhome, and needed a vehicle that would accomodate our 3 puppies as well. WE LOVE IT! It has met all of our expectations and was a GREAT BUY!
Happily Surprised
We traded in a fully loaded 5.9ltr Dodge Durango for the Sante Fe because of the rising fuel costs. We own an Elantra and are very happy so far with Hyundai products. We were very happy with our decision, though I miss the manliness of the Durango. I don't miss driving the Durango to the gas station every other day. My wife and I were surprised at how well the Sante Fe handles in the snow. It is, dare I say, the best handling 4x4 I have ever owned, and I have owned everthing from jeeps to trucks. Our model has traction control as an option, and my only major complaint is that it is no fun to drive in the snow because it just goes and goes. It is not squirrely to drive like my jeep was.
The Hyundai Santa Fe 2004
Excellent! Rides like a car (on the Sonata body). Love the color choices, great pick up. Gas mileage is 19-21 (highway and city combined). Sun roof is good (makes a bit of noise completely open, leave about 1 inch of it showing). Moon roof great. Sound system excellent. Overall, I love this SUV (I have owned Explorers and cherokees, this is the most comfortable).
Best SUV on road
Can't be beat, best vehicle on road
1st SUV I've Purchased
I just purchased a GLS FW 3.5 Santa Fe. I love it so far. The ride is smooth, just like a car. Goes up hills without a problem. Haven't had a chance to drive it in bad weather yet. Edmunds.com was great for me. I was really able to do a lot of homework before purchasing the vehicle. Everyone who has seen it likes it. My cousins took a ride in it and they want to purchase one. My only regret is I don't know if I should have gone with the 2.7 with AWD versus the power of the 3.5 engine and FW drive. I couldn't afford both. However this one does have ABS brakes and traction control. You can't beat the warranty. Winter will be the test. Go Hyundai!
Santa Fe
We love this car. We have 2 kids, and we've already driven up to Pennsylvania & Canada!! The space is amazing.
Love my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe
For the money, the Santa Fe had the best combination of features, comfort, quality interior materials, and performance of any smaller SUV we test drove. I have had my Santa Fe for about 9 months and have driven it about 12,000 miles so far. It is a joy to drive, hauls children and their gear as well as groceries admirably. The only problem I have had was a large radiator leak at about 5,000 miles and the Hyundai dealership corrected the problem without hassle. The EPA ratings are very accurate, about 17 in the city and 22- 23 on the highway. Bottom line, I am very happy with my Hyundai.
Great SUV
Very satisfied with the Santa Fe. I was sold when I test drove it. Our 1st Suv and no complaints so far.
BUY IT NOW!
I have had my new Santa Fe for about a month now. I had driven one several years back, I bought it for the warrenty and gas mileage. I had a Tahoe and that didn't cut it. I LOVE IT! Its fun, zippy, and you can't beat heated seats and a sunroof, 10 year 100K bumper to bumper all for $22K !!! I have had no problems.
My Favorite Car of All Times
I had a choice, lots of them...and still to this minute a year and a half later am the greatest fan and driving advertisment of this wonderful black Santa Fe.
Santa Fe more than Okay
Excellent value for the money. Fun to drive, has excellent "eye appeal" and a fantastic warranty. The LX package with the 3.5L is worth the extra money.
Great Car
Great Car! I don't usually like SUV's I'm more of a car person but I took this Santa Fe out for a test drive and it was great!! Very smooth. I have a family of 5, 3 boys (13,12,8) and they all fit no problem. Overall great car. Go with the heated seats their the best!
I love my sante fe!
I tried the Tucson and the Sante Fe, and although they are very simular, I prefer the Sante Fe. It rides better than the Tucson and has more room. I just love my Sante Fe and I love driving it. I recommend it to anyone considering getting one.
My first Hyundai
I never thought I would own a Hyundai until I test drove a Santa Fe. My wife and I drove the Mercury Mariner, Ford Escape, and checked out the Chevrolet Equinox. By the time we priced the Mariner and Escape with the equipment on my Santa Fe, they became too pricey.
Bang for the Buck
We bought this vehicle as a demo unit (it had about 2800 miles on it). 10,000 miles later and several trips and we've found it to be a very useful car that has a different look and some impressive features for the price. The gas mileage seems a little on the poor side (it gets worse mileage than my 94 GMC Jimmy which has a bigger engine) but the overall ride is satisfactory. The AWD is impressive and although I wouldn't take our Santa Fe for any serious off-roading, I would trust it to handle most mud and gravel driving without serious problems. Parking in the city with this car will take some getting used to as it doesn't turn sharply...which we've found to be the only major handicap.
wonderful except gasoline mileage
great vehicle - 2nd Hyundai we have bought. wonderful dealership experiences with service.
i love this suv
its the best looking suv to me out there. i wish it was just a little more quiet when driving, but for the whole package for the price, i cant ask for anything else except for long reliability, which i hope and prays keep up for as long as i have this suv. but i love it all around, especially looks and price.
Very Happy
I will buy with hyundai again. I have been very happy with my purchase.
Solid & Reliable
Pricing and warranty blew away everything in it's class. I was impressed by the low cost 10year/100,000 mile optional warranty I purchased because it was proof that Hyundai was standing behind their product. I've never seen this degree of confidence by any other manufacturer. This vehicle is NOT a "toy mini SUV"; it's built very solid, has excellent handling, and still runs as good as it did when I drove it off the lot. After almost 3 years and 40K miles I've had zero problems. I rarely take it offroad, but when I do it has excellent clearance and suspension that handle anything you will find on a gravel road. Speed bumps ? Hah! This thing mows 'em down like they weren't even there.
Balancing
My car drifts to the right when I let go the steering wheel
very nice suv
no problems at all so far!
Great buy!
This was a great buy! My wife & I love it. Great around town. Plenty of room but not too big. Great on 5500 mile trip. Mileage was great. Averaged 29MPG which included mountain ranges in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. Very dependable so far.
My Santa Fe
I absolutely adore this vehicle. I have had many vehicles over the years and this one is by far the best. My only complaint is the gas mileage. Other than that - it is fantastic!!
Love my Santa Fe
Bought this SUV after our Aztec & S10 got flooded in Hurricane Wilma. We had to find something quickly and the supply down here in the Keys was very limited as all the dealers lost all their stock also. About a week and half after the hurricane, I was driving past Niles in my rented car and saw this Santa Fe on their lot. It had been shipped in from a sister dealer in Tallahassee. I always had wanted a Santa Fe, I love that is wasn't boxy like most SUVs, and it was exactly the color that I had wanted. We test drove it that evening and were able to keep it overnight. We bought it the next morning and have never had any regrets. I get about 22-23 mpg which is great for SUVs. I love it!
Hyundai in the Family
I totaled my moms 2001 Santa Fe, but it did so well in the crash that she bought a 2004 with all the bells and whistles. I bought a 2004 Tiburon GT which I now regret since the insurance is so high on that car, not to mention already had a speeding ticket! I am looking into buying a new Santa Fe since I need the room inside and would like to have a vehicle that I can put a hitch on to haul trailers around when I get some toys.
Loved my Santa Fe
From the time of purchase, until I traded my Santa Fe in on a new vehicle, I loved this car. Car was great, dealer wasn't.
Hyundai doesn't mean crappy anymore....
Took a gamble, and bought the Sante Fe, after doing alot of research. I was leery knowing Hyundai's past. I was surprised at the level of quality and care in making the product. Granted, the leather seats are... well, cheap looking/feeling. I've enjoyed a trouble free 120K in daily driving since my purchase in 2005. Can't say one bad thing about it; including my mileage, which has ranged from 21 - 24MPGs. Tooling aroud town, it is considerably less, but still for a SUV, not bad at all. HIGHLY Recommend!
A Great Car
This has been an awesome vehicle. Very Dependable. Very trip friendly!
04 Santa Fe review
The most practical vehicle I ever owned. The first vehicle I had that didn't burn any oil. The 3.5L engine performance is great. Rides like a luxury car. Problems so far have been minor. Has lots of neat storage compartments. A nerds dream.
Impressive Hyundai
It made sense to buy a Santa Fe. Gas mileage was ok, there were alot of options for a low price and warranty was better then most other similar vehicles. The 3.5 engine is zippy and has alot of passing and towing power. Smooth ride and great acceleration. The full time AWD is great but I've noticed the traction control operates roughly during acceleration from stop on a slippery road. I really like the seats and the driving position, which makes a 5+ hour drive more tolerable. After 75000 miles, the car hasn't had any problems and still drives like new.
Second Hyundai
I had a 2000 sonata it was great but this Santa Fe has been perfect from the day we bought it. Love this truck.
i love my sante fe
I am very pleased with every aspect of my santa fe, it is comfortable, and i feel safe while driving it. It handles wonderful on mountain roads, snow conditions and wet roads. It may only be 2wd but the design and ground clearance have made it the perfect crossover. Fuel economy well 270 miles on 1/4 tank of gas, need i say more? It is perfect for the wife if she wants to keep her tall husband in his own truck.
2004 Hyundai sante fe
Everyones reviews about new cars, guess what, mine has 165 thou miles, never had a problem! LOVE LOVE LOVE MY HYUNDAI! Fabulous stereo! Only complaints, wish it had better gas mileage, have to change transmission fluid every 30 thou miles. I really love this car. will drive it to death, it also really holds its value!
Hyundai Santa Fe
After years of driving a Ford F350 crew cab,we bought the Santa Fe based on overall price, package and fuel effeciency. I was totally amazed at the mileage. Hiway trip, it got almost 33mpg. I just grin every time I pass by the gas station that I used to visit twice a week. Very accomodating interior and I can take my two great danes along as well as the heeler. Lots of head room for those of us who are tall, I was surprised by the amount of room in the back seat for my bud who stands 6ft 4in.Even he was surprised. Highly recommended for a pleasant surprise.
problems
i bought the suv in nov and when i bought it the rear winshield wouldnt stop working it was moving but wiper was off, ive been to the dealer numerous times but they cant fix it, so now i bought a 27,000 vehical, that i cant even use a winshield wiper, and to top it off both of the front winshield wipers and broke , the passenger side when it was snowing and the driver side when it was raining. (not fun driving home in the rian with no winshield wipers)
