I've only had this SUV for a short period of time, but it is everything and more I wanted and expected. The Unlimited AWD 2.0T model looks nicer then many that cost $10-$20k more and offers every option imaginable- including a full panoramic glass roof, Apple CarPlay and Complete wrap-around camera package so you can see your vehicle from every side. Coming from an economy car, it took a bit to get used to 23mpg, but it's a small price to pay for the overall comfort. I originally was looking at the 2017 Tucson, which is a very good looking vehicle when loaded, but the quietness and soft ride in the Santa Fe Sport won me over. With the great rebates and discounts, the $40k price tag was greatly reduced. The interior is hands down much more attractive and sporty compared to the competition. If you are in the market for a SUV, put it on your list to check out. [UPDATED 9/14/2018: While the new 2019 model is hitting the streets, I still love my 2017. The ride is still as nice as it was on day one. My 5-star review remains the exact same - great vehicle.] [UPDATED 3/17/2019: Hands down one of the best vehicles I've owned. Very low maintenance - fantastic ride - and still looks great (even better) compared to even new vehicles on the road. Still earns a strong 5 star rating from me.]

After 40 years of driving pick-up trucks for work I retired and wanted/needed to downsize, especially as I now live in the mountains of Southern CA and roads are very narrow and twisty. I narrowed my choices to a smallish midsize SUV, for the cargo room, luxury, drivability, and economy. It came down to quality and features for the money, especially value, as I am disabled and live on SSDI and an annuity. After 6 Silverado LTZ's I didn't want to compromise on luxury and this car certainly delivers, with all of the upgrades on the 2.0T, Ultimate, Tech pkg. With an MSRP of $40,625, I paid $34,684 after incentives. It's a heck of a lot of SUV for that price. It is very quiet on the road, great acceleration, great handling (I upgraded the tires to much higher rated for snow Michelin Premier LTX), good fuel economy (I usually manually shift while accelerating ; with max torque available at just 1400rpm I get into highest gear asap), and great driving experience. Seats are very comfortable for drives up to 2 hours or so, however I am 6'4'' tall and another inch of legroom and 2 inches of seat bottom length would be appreciated, however almost every car is a bit small for me in this regard. Even with the pano roof there is plenty of headroom, even with the seat adjusted to highest position. The audio is very good and pairing with my smartphone is instant as soon as I start the car. Android auto, Classic iPod connectivity, and the abundant speakers make for great listening. The sub-woofer is almost too much, as the windshield mounted mirror really vibrates, however the bass response through the body of the car is fantastic. My all around MPG exceeds EPA for both highway and all-around. I live at 5700 feet elevation and frequently drive DTH (down the hill) for various shopping, as well as 1000' elevation change just to go the the market and back - lots of mixed elevation driving, yet I get 23mpg overall and 30-31 mpg highway. The only car I shopped that matched ALL of the tech and lux features of this car was the BMW X3, and similarly equipped had an MSRP of $18,000 more. Although the BMW is nicer in some aspects, the line by line comparison doesn't measure up to the Hyundai. It is an outstanding car for the money After 9 months and 9000 miles the car has been every bit of what I originally wrote. Steep mountain roads covered with snow and ice were no issue what-so-ever. With the tires upgrade I did I never lost traction a single time, and the AWD worked every bit as well as my former Silverado 4x4's did in the snow. Friends love to tour around the mountains with me and everyone comments how much the glass roof makes it a great car for site-seeing. The adaptive cruise control is awesome and speed changes are smooth and safe. The automatic braking (not in cruise control at the time) has activated once, when a car swerved in front of me too close for comfort. The crash avoidance activated just before my foot could get to the brake pedal - the car's reaction is faster than mine. Love the adaptive headlights on curvy roads (headlight beam turns while in the twisties). Yep, LOVE this car! Update Dec '17. Sold the car to Carmax for $27k. With daily 200 mile trips to visit my dad in hospital I decided to buy a 2018 Kia Sorento, which has more legroom. Kia basically an upscale version of the SF Sport

I test drove the Toyota rav4, Toyota Highlander, Toyota 4runner,Kia Sorento, Jeep Grand Cherokee, BMW x3, Mercedes GLC. My new Sante Fe is more thoughtfully designed designed and is by far the best SUV for the price.

Dangerous hesitation when merging into traffic, slowing down for a turn then accelerating replicates the problem. I never wrote a review like this before but felt strongly this is a safety concern. I am an ASE master tech with over 42 years of experience. The dealership is of no help. Filing with the National highway traffic safety administration. Do not buy or lease this car.

the GOOD BAD AND ugLY Car is attractive and quite nicely done Sport AWD Ultimate very nimble excellent execution, turns on a dime and handles .corners excellent...we have 30 thousand miles on it mostly city miles..........I wish I never bought it. never had such a uncomfortable drivers seat..the rest of the seats are comfortable. enough.the driver seat itself is hard as a rock to sit on .Seat materials are high quality ...the seat is short in depth front to back and do not pick up thighs ....nor does the seat tilt like I would like...the back rest tilts but not the seat which only goes up and down and back and forward..the car is like a nanny watching for safety and it takes time to figure out all the technology....my big gripe and I am pissed that on a 4 cylinder driving carefully in the city in econo I am getting an average of 16 mpg ...that is right in city careful driving 16 mpg on a 4 cylinder Turbo with AWD ..come on Hyundai false advertising on mileage buyers should be seeking recourse....would never had bought the car if I new it had that bad of language ......would never have bought the car if I new my prostrate would suffer every time I had to drive it.....but as I say my wife loves it I should have given her the bill.....the entertainment and technology is very well done and quality materials thru out...go out an rent one and drive it for a week before you decide......believe pathfinder SL in 4 wheel drive and so is highlander SE. are better buys............if the car had a comfortable drivers seat and was actually 19 24 it be a good one ....I just wish I could get my money back ...Car list 39,800 I paid 34,200 plus 3300 Tax 500 DMV 1700 for prepaid maint for 7 yrs and 2000 for extended bumper to bumper warranty Note be very careful extended warranties are not Hyundai they are dealer warranty good luck if dealer in business.....Fuel Pump just went out at 20 k and warranty work performed . Now 5 yrs old and used car value about 25k....car is very quick with 2t .....The car handles ideally in city but uncomfortable and too small for 4 hour or more road trips . Technology is sound and no gripes. The car has proven to be reliable without issues
