Used 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Consumer Reviews
Fun to drive, poor fuel economy
Upgraded to this car from a 2001 Toyota Celica. Like the looks, fun to drive, but the fuel economy is a sham. Best MPG so far is 20mpg on the highway with cruise control on. My Celica got 30+ doing the same driving. Paint is already chipping on the bumper. Also, a creaking/clunking noise started in my rear axle/wheel hub area TWO MONTHS after purchase. I researched this car top to bottom along with the Accord, went for the "fun" car and I regret my decision.
Great car for the money
Frist of all this is a great car. If you are going to buy it, make sure you shop around first, I got my Genesis Coupe for $18,500 + tax, title, processing fee. The turbo model is great, it's not super fast but it has enough power with great handling and great looks. I get about 420-450 miles per tank of gas, that is great for a sport car. The interior is beautiful, comfortable, and the whole cars looks great. No other car out there in this class can offer you the options, looks, and fun this that this car gives you. I have people stop and check out my car while it's parked, that says it all. I can't wait to go to work in the morning just so I can drive my Genesis, love this car.

Driving the first Genesis Coupe in town
Happened to be on the lot when this one arrived at local dealership. Looking for replacement of Elantra totaled this week. It catches your eye immediately. First thoughts, this isn't a Hyundai, but do the walk around and you know. They have really taken this one up a notch. This is the seventh Hyundai for our family and my son has a Tibaron GT. The Tibaron is great but really doesn't compare to the Coupe as far as I am concerned. Drivability is excellent and exciting. Front seat comfort is great and back really isn't terrible, what you'd find in any coupe. As a female I am loving the thought that I know what I've got under me. Drive one, you'll see! Parents, drive before you buy for a child
The car!
If you're in the market for a sports car this is it! Drove all the American muscle, very big and clumsy. The Genesis' coupe suspension and steering is tight and nimble, throttle response is fantastic and the paddle shifters are responsive for the money. Can't believe this is a Hyundai. They have come a long way from the 80's when they manufactured crap. Go test drive one and you won't have to read another review. The Genesis coupe speaks for itself! Under normal driving conditions leave the traction control on or you may leave a skid mark and not the kind you find on the road.
Ridiculous value
I've only had this for a short while, but everything about this car has met my high expectations. For Hyundai's first venture into the performance arena, the Genesis Coupe is a stellar debut. With comparable equipment, the Infiniti G37 listed out over $10K more & the only real edge I'd give the G37 is in the aesthetics of the interior design. The Gennie Coupe is comfortable, quick off the line & navigating in traffic, nimble in maneuvering, & very stylish---talk about turning heads on the road! I would definitely recommend it as a quality performance car that represents a clearly superior value to anything in its price range, & it can compete with others priced several thousand dollars more.
Very, very fun
I waited a while to review and after almost a year the car is wonderful. Chopped off the resonator for a bit more power and changed to a k&n intake, but other than that stock. Car is quick, not fast. Handling is superb. Very reliable, no issues. Can't wait to take it to a track day and see what it can do in a safe environment. Great for 2 people but back seat is only for storage. Paddle shifters are in the wrong place though, should be mounted on to the column instead of the steering wheel making it clumsy. Use the sequential gearbox instead. This is a great car until I go get a vette or a jag s-type. You won't think it is a Hyundai.
They Broke the Code!
OMG! I am a 62yo professional who's had lots of luxury and a little performance, and this Genesis Coupe is the hottest thing I've ever had, in so many ways! People ogle it! I love the way it responds to my subtlest tickling of the pedals and steering wheel! Great acceleration, nimble as a cheetah, and so well-balanced it's a dream to drive, easy or hard. Love it! The fit, finish, and style of every little detail is unsurpassed! And the car is intelligent! It wouldn't even allow my wife to lock the key in the trunk--it knew it was there! Mileage on regular gas is far better than I expected, and the engine has a great sound. No detractors! I could sell these things!!
Love it, but not unconditionally
Love the car overall but it does have limitations. Car handles and drives great and looks even better. Love the saddle leather interior though seats are very firm. Ride is a little rough, when coupled with road noise makes any trip over an hour tiresome with back/butt aches. GT was $27k out the door (incl the $500 military rebate), VERY well equipped for the price. Cockpit feel is great with everything within easy reach but has limited storage. Clutch is VERY hard to master- HATE IT! Very difficult to shift smoothly w/o skipping gears to improve smoothness(i.e. going 1-3-5 or 2-4-6 instead of 1,2,3,4...). Was a die-hard 6-spd guy, now I'm cured. Nav is easy to use but screen is a tad bit small
It Sold Itself
While my wife and I was looking for a decent economy car for our daughter, we bought one of the best driving experiences I've ever had. The steering is tight and precise, and the turbo is more than quick enough for a normal commuter dodging cell-phone-users on the interstate. People in every parking lot I've been in stare at it. The fact it's a Hyundai blows them away. The only downside for me is that it is my daughter's...
Comfortable for the Long Haul
I Purchased mine on 06/20/2009. I drive 90 miles a day round trip. I find the ride very comfortable and relaxing to drive. It performs just like or better than my XJS Jaguar ever did. The handling on the curves, is like riding on a rail. I find the acceleration is there everytime you hit the gas. No slow response from the engine, it's up and running before you know it. I do recommend when you buy this car you better buy a radar detector, because you get lost with speed of the car and feel as if your not traveling at a high rate of speed, even though, you really are. It's a must buy if you like a fast running, head turning, hand waving, second look fun driving car. And yes it's a HYUNDAI.
