My wife and I both love this car. We are retired and gave up her 2003 Acura 3.2TL and my 2004 red Z06 Corvette to go to one car we both could live with. It’s a great fun car fully loaded with features. Enjoy the spirited, quick and agile drive. Fit and finish is superb and the best warranty in the business. Some details that don’t show up on the feature list are side door windows that move down a half inch then up into a groove for a water tight seal when the door is closed. Under the hood it has an ignition coil per plug that bolts down over the spark plug eliminating the plug wire. It has a ram air intake from the front grill through duct work to the air filter.

Best car I've ever owned!

I have owned nearly 30 cars, and the Genesis Coupe is by far my favorite. It's comfortable, fun to drive, reliable (no problems after 30,000 miles), and it looks great. Hyndai name or not, this is one of the best values for the money, and one of the best sports coupes - period - on the market today. It may not be the fastest 0-60, but it sure is quick, and it has amazing handling characteristics. If you are looking for a PURE sports car that is liveable & reliable, this is the car for you. I can't wait to drive this car every day!

For the price and reliability this is a nice lil sports coup. I will maintain and keep it for the fun driving and great looks, it ages well. Will be getting a everyday car but tinkering and upgrading the Genesis for the fun.

FLYING OUT THE WINDOW..

This car was my first brand new car I have owned and I had it for a year and one month. I have decided to trade it in. Within the first month the back tail light had a small hole and water was getting in, so I had that replaced, At about 10 months the driver window rotator burned out so my window would not go all the way up and I had to get that replaced. Lastly I was driving back from a road-trip when I hear the "helicopter noise" a car makes when a window is open. I look at my side mirror and see the small backseat window FLY OFF! It literally de glued and flew off the car in the middle of the highway! Clear as to why I am now trading it in. I really loved the car :( w/out all this.

The car is fun to drive and look at, but has many flaws. I've had multiple transmission problems to include a total replacement at 4200 miles. Traction control doesn't work all the time, the bluetooth radio is horrible as it syncs and won't allow calls until complete (which can take 15 minutes each time you get in the car). The paint on my hood had to be buffed and polished due to it being "soft", the speedometer is inaccurate, and Hyundai refuses to act on many of the issues. I would not recommend this vehicle and am in the process of using the lemon law on mine.

"Hey man! What kind of car is that?"

The Genesis Turbo Coupe impresses me. It's A Rear-wheel Drive turbo sports car, just the platform I wanted. The body of the vehicle appears as if it was shaped by the wind. It has an aggressive stance, and it seems to stand out from other cars on the road. It isn't uncommon for someone to ask me what kind of car it is. They've have stopped at lights and rolled their windows down to ask on multiple occasions. One guy even said he followed me for four blocks to ask. Aside from how it looks, mine is a 6-Speed Manual. The car runs strong through the gears/power band and sounds great -it's very satisfying behind the wheel, and luckily the Genesis Turbo Coupe can be easily modified for those who wish for more power. Shifting the Genesis is smooth and easy. The traction control button on this car is extremely important. To the left of the steering wheel there is a button: "TCS" - Traction Control System. If traction control is turned off, you must be careful powering through turns as the wheels are free to spin and slide the back end out. With TCS ON, the wheels use electronic control to prevent them from breaking loose. I have rules: If I'm on the highway, TCS must be ON. If it is raining, TCS ON. Winter time...TCS ON. And don't floor it going into corners...basic RWD rules of thumb. The winter in this vehicle makes for a questionable journey if conditions are very bad. Winter, with snow covered roads, is not fun. It is drivable though if only and inch or two. I've made it though the last 2 mild winters here. I now run snow tires in the winter, I HIGHLY recommend having 2 sets of wheels if you get snow in the winter. OVERALL: The Genesis Turbo Coupe looks incredible, sounds and performs terrific. When treated with care and well maintained, this car is good looking and fun to drive. UPDATE: Year 5 of owning the car now, and I've driven it pretty hard. Not to excess, but I accelerate aggressively and shift around 4k pretty quite a bit. I've changed the oil at 3,000 miles every time with full-synthetic. My last car payment is this month, and I'll own it. The only 'major' repair was it needed a new timing chain at around 115,000 miles, which cost me about $1,500. Be aware: I got lucky. Upon inspecting my timing chain, it has become so loose it actually had enough play to make contact with the 'oil nozzle' that provides oil to the chain and sheared it closed. Had I waited even a few weeks longer, had that chain broke the engine would have been ruined. I also had no warning lights to indicate the issue, only a faint 'rattle' kind of noise that was coming from the chain when shifting into the next gear, and it as I moved through the gears shifting it it become more difficult to make perfectly smooth transitions. Just change the timing-chain at 100,000 miles and you're good. My right front strut is blown I think, too. The suspension could probably be replaced now at 125,000 miles. I've had the little 'bump-stop' noise from the right front strut for about 10,000 miles now. It's very vague, and not urgent. It's a 2010 and people still shout at me across parking lots, "Hey man, what kind of car is that?" I'd do it all over again if I could go back, no regrets with the Genesis Coupe here. ___ Update: 2 new issues. 147,000mi. now on odometer. Small coolant leak from radiator. I cannot seem to see where it is leaking from though yet. It's only losing 1/2 a quart per week, so I've been just adding coolant on the weekends until I locate the leak source. Something is inside the passenger door panel is sliding around. It sounds like a small screw or something inside the door panel. Will soon remove and investigate.

Got car brand new with 30 miles in odometer, @ 1500 miles dealer replaced tranny under warranty because of grinding gears on 2nd and 3rd gear, after several trips to the dealer tranny still grinds, tried to talked to consumer affairs and so far no responce, do your research before buying this car, this is not an isolated problem many customers complaining with the SAME issue and Hyundai so far have not find a fix for the problem. This is from the 2010 brochure: Triple-cone synchronizers on first through third gears help ensure smooth and durable shifting, whether you’re headed up or down through the gears." Smooth??? No way it is smooth, my 2001 honda civic sounds better than this car, durable??? my tranny lasted only 1500 miles. This is just for them to sell you the car, then once you get it they will ingnore you

Hyundai's moving up in the world

Although I've only had mine for a little while, I can still say that the Genesis Coupe is a very impressive effort by Hyundai. Honda, Toyota, and even BMW are probably going have to sharpen their pencils in response to this car. After driving several competitors (and wincing at their prices), I stumbled onto the Coupe. Even if you don't factor in its lower price, the Hyundai is hard to beat: great style, good fuel economy (on regular gas!), just about every option you'd expect (with the Grand Touring option), not to mention terrific power and handling - it all adds up to a great car. I'll admit that time will tell when it comes to resale value, but for now, I'll just enjoy it...

I waited a while to review and after almost a year the car is wonderful. Chopped off the resonator for a bit more power and changed to a k&n intake, but other than that stock. Car is quick, not fast. Handling is superb. Very reliable, no issues. Can't wait to take it to a track day and see what it can do in a safe environment. Great for 2 people but back seat is only for storage. Paddle shifters are in the wrong place though, should be mounted on to the column instead of the steering wheel making it clumsy. Use the sequential gearbox instead. This is a great car until I go get a vette or a jag s-type. You won't think it is a Hyundai.

If you're in the market for a sports car this is it! Drove all the American muscle, very big and clumsy. The Genesis' coupe suspension and steering is tight and nimble, throttle response is fantastic and the paddle shifters are responsive for the money. Can't believe this is a Hyundai. They have come a long way from the 80's when they manufactured crap. Go test drive one and you won't have to read another review. The Genesis coupe speaks for itself! Under normal driving conditions leave the traction control on or you may leave a skid mark and not the kind you find on the road.
