Falling apart. Nothing is built to last anymore
2016 pilot is literally falling apart. I rarely drive it and trim fell off and now got a message about keyless remote starter? Really???? Come on Honda!
Perfect Pilot
It’s perfect for a larger family. It has all the perks. Even the kids love it!

Fuel injection problems
Our 2016 Honda Pilot has a fuel injection problems. Bought it used in 2019 with 37,000 miles on it. Shortly thereafter the check engine light came on. Turns out the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Honda motor company would not cover any of the cost. Some $1,800 later it is somewhat fix...the RPMs still jump around a lot when driving at highway speeds. Wouldn't recommend this purchase unless you know the injectors have been replaced or its a Honda Certified.
Terrible do not buy
I have had nothing but problems with my pilot 2016 touring model. It starting with the running boards rusting out within the first year and needed replacing. The big expense was when my transfer case apparently had rust in in which was NOT covered by my Purchased extended warranty, costing me over $2000 to repair. My vehicle should not have had these issues and HONDA should have replaced and repaired my vehicle for free. The vehicle was only 2 years old when this occurred and well under the requirements for Kilometres, I Am not sure how I was responsible for the rust getting inside the transfer case?.. Please do yourself a favour and do not buy one of these vehicles.

6 speed trans fail
I have lost all confidence in our 2016 Pilot and Honda's cheap flash and fluid transmission. At 37,000 miles trans went wanky. Dealership "fixed " problem as per Honda service bulletin. 8,000 miles later we are now waiting for Honda to replace the once again failed tranny. It was just fortunate for us that my wife had recently purchased a warrant as advised by a Honda tech on a service visit.
Always reliable
Since the purchase of my new Honda Pilot - I upgraded from an more scaled down model to an upscale model - I have continued to enjoy not only the reliability but also the excellent service I get from my dealership. I always say - you take good care of your vehicle and it will always be there for you!

Nothing but leaks and problems! My 2006 was better
HORRIBLY manufactured. Leaks in rear cargo $1500 rug replacement. Leaking rear wiper fluid from ceiling $2100 to fix. Pilot only has 34k miles. Squeaky AC must be replaced. Gears are loud when switch from R to D. Breaks groan, new pads. Had to sell vehicle.

Happy Honda
Lots of room, lots of power, quite, smooth, handles well, stylish, and very comfortable. Gas mileage good for a rig of it's size. Wish I had opted for navigation, but can use phone. If it lives up to the hype, it could be my last gasoline vehicle. So far, 67,694 miles of driving enjoyment!

2016 Touring Edition
This vehicle is a piece of junk. The quality of a Honda is a joke now. I bought this SUV new in 2016 from Honda. At 83K the transmission was replaced under my 10year or 120k warranty, I bought the warranty when we purchased this vehicle new. The new transmission is also a joke, it lags and has a cold problem finding which gear it should be in, in MN the winter get cold, but when the pilot was under 50k miles, we never had an issue with the vehicle. I baby this vehicle and don’t even tow a trailer or boat. The vehicle has been at our local Honda dealer for the failed emissions/check engine light at 65k, 75k and now at 106k miles. This vehicle has been nothing but trouble for us, in and out of the dealer. We pay $43k plus for this vehicle, the quality is no longer in these Honda. There is more con than pro when buying a pilot. I expect Pilot to run til about 200k plus before any major or repeat problems. We have maintained all the regular maintenance for the Pilot and still have these issues I mentioned. Do not buy a 2016 model type Pilot, it’s nothing but trouble after 50k miles.

Solid buy
8 seat comfot + and its a Honda! Very nice vehicle.
After 100,000 miles great vehicle with exceptions
I bought my 2016 Honda pilot EXL all-wheel-drive as a certified preowned car in 2019. The vehicle has been relatively problem free I now have 100,000 miles on it. I'm getting ready to replace the spark plugs. I replaced the timing belt and all associated parts about six months ago at 98,000 miles. The only maintenance I have done has been preventive maintenance and standard wearable items such as brakes. I only use 100% synthetic motor oil since I have had it. Now with that said, I have to say that the infotainment is the absolute worst. I scratch my head sometimes wondering what the Honda engineers were thinking when they put this system in the pilot. I put up with it because I love the car, but oh my what a disaster. Other than that, I would say it is an awesome vehicle. I do have the six speed automatic. I cannot speak on the nine speed version. I have heard they had issues in 2016 because they were new. My six speed works flawlessly. I change the fluid every 30,000 miles. I do not do drain in fill. I use a very qualified local mechanic that does a T-Tech complete fluid exchange. Never any problems. Hope this helps in your decision-making process

Great but a little boring
It's big. Takes up more space in our garage than our old pathfinder. Great comfort but not much personality. Family loves it. At 50,000 we had to have the transmission flushed and reprogrammed because the rpms would hunt up and down during any acceleration. Felt like driving at manual with someone pushing the clutch in and out continually. Honda did the work under warranty and then told us we’d have to plan on flushing the transmission every 20,000 miles. Seems like Honda knows the transmission is faulty and this is a work-around. Makes me worry about the longevity of the transmission.

A moms take: All seems well, except for the radio
This is my first Honda. Before this I had Sienna AWD minivans (two back to back.) My kids are a little older, so I was excited to get out of the van. (Personally, if you have small kids-go with a van for a while, worry less about image and go for space and ease of use. Nothing beats sliding doors with young kids and the extra space is grand. I can't live without AWD- so the Sienna was the only choice- but my goodness the van really could go places (think hauling grain through the pasture to the horse barn....steep driveway in snow.) So, I knew I wanted an AWD model and I knew I need some space, since I was used to a van for a dozen years! Honda Pilot earned my purchase with the following: -Love the ease of the flip 3rd row space. One pull. Can do it with a grocery bag in your arms. -Love the flip up hidden space in the back- and the genius of storing the board. Makes a great grocery bag pit one day and can flip to flat storage (hauling more grain) in like 3 seconds. -3rd row is for real- I can fit three smaller 12 year olds back there and it will work for 2 growing teens with ease. -Easy to get to back row with push button flip. -Second row folds flat- or I can fold part of it flat to produce the cargo room I need. -Like the AWD. Drove home in snow last night and liked the SNOW mode. -Driver seat super comfy and adjustable. -GREAT SIGHT LINES out of vehicle. -Fun to drive. -This was my first smart key. Love the remote start, and most of all, never having to take key out of purse to unlock or lock. -Sunroof is nice. Like the light it gives the cabin. -EX-L model seemed to have enough to feel luxurious to me, without the extra bells I didn't want. -Lane watch for right lane is pretty cool. -Easy connection for blue tooth to my phone. -I love the look. I think function comes before form in cars, but so far I feel I have both. The BIG disappointment: The radio. Sounds isn't really good. But that I can live with better than the fade that happens on FM. It just gets softer and muffled out of no where and then will turn up later. It doesn't matter the station. My dealer did not warn me of this, which was disappointing. Honda claims they will fix it---when a fix is determined.

Edmunds.com shows you the DEALS!
After shopping around, unlike what you used to do with a sales person, there was NO negotiating the price of buying this vehicle anywhere. However, technology certainly played a role in the purchase of this vehicle and Edmunds.com was a huge help in locating the best deal in Southern California. We love our SUV! Thank you!

Blue gean colored seats
For one, the service department could not notice the mild hesitation the suv had in easy takeoffs. Second was the cloth seat absorbed the color of the blue & black geans. Even though i had the xylon protection service added to the suv. The warranty to clean the seat sucked because the color didn't come off.
