Exceeds Expectations

After reading some other reviews I had planned to wait for the 2024 with the “tweaks” which apparently, primarily focus on a new front seat center console, arm rests and more aggressive tires. However, the arm rests in the 2023 work great for both my wife and I, and we like the sliding console which allows you to lay some items on top while driving. Our “off road” driving is primarily on rural roads and on the city streets of Anchorage, Alaska which can be full of deep snow, ice, potholes and rough surfaces for a good portion of the year. We decided to take advantage of the Honda financing low interest rate incentive for the 2023 model, and we are very happy with our new Passport TrailSport. It checks all the boxes for what we were looking for, roomy, nice proven V6 performance, fair gas mileage, 18 inch rims, more rubber for those rough road conditions and potholes, has all the latest safety and technology we were interested in, handles very well, great visibility. We replaced our 2017 Ford Escape Titanium with the 2023 Passport. Our Honda dealership in Anchorage was a pleasure to work with. There’s a lot of competition in this class, and we considered several alternatives however, the Honda Passport is the best fit for us, we truly love it.

I have had this Honda Passport for a few months now have put 6,000 miles on it and love it! I have driven many other vehicles in this category and I’ll have to say this is the most comfortable and smooth of them all! It also handles very nice in the whether conditions and just took a 10 hour road trip with it and it was very enjoyable! The safely systems worked amazingly and overall just very enjoyable due to it’s amazing driving dynamics and comfort! Have had many Hondas before this lasting hundreds of thousands of miles with no issues so hope this one will be the same!

The Passport is a Strong Contender

I traded in my 2010 Honda Pilot LX for the Passport. After reading all the reviews, seeing this car in person & taking it for a test drive I was convinced this was the right choice. The dealer gave me a good deal on my trade in & after negotiations, I feel I got a good deal on the price. I have read about other people saying the ride is stiff. It’s all in your interpretation and how it feels to you. While I did notice a difference in the ride of the Passport to the Pilot it’s nothing to complain about or a deal breaker. The controls are conveniently laid out. I’m getting used to the push button gears. The backup camera is very clear and the alerts are very good to have & an excellent feature. There is plenty of space & the acceleration is good. The headlights are bright & give good depth. If you are interested in a midsize SUV, the Passport should be worth considering.

We are just about ready to pass the 3K mile mark and so far so good with our 22 Passport Elite. My wife is the primary driver and likes the room it offers and its easy to park. We upgraded from a Mazda CX5, My main vehicle is a 2017 Ridgeline and still love it...One of the main reasons we chose the Passport was the similar dash and instrument layout which my wife was somewhat familiar with in the Ridgeline. Its not fair to compare the two vehicles but I find the Passports ride to be a little more choppy than the Ridgeline but given the shorter wheelbase that makes sence. The buttons on the steering wheel are smaller and I miss the round tachometer...I blame fat fingers and old eyes. I hope in the future Honda will introduce a hybrid version of the Passport which we would consider. Because our Passport was a dealer demo we were able to negotiate down from MSRP and took delivery with just 800 miles and a very good warrantyWe like our Passport and look forward to many happy care free miles.

The adaptive cruise control on my 2023 Honda passport is horrible. It was the feature I was most looking forward to when I purchased this vehicle. My partner has a 2019 (I think) Honda accord and it works perfectly. I’m very disappointed with this vehicles ACC. I don’t know if the problem is with the hardware or the software. If it’s software I don’t understand why Honda can’t just update the system with an update. I generally just switch it to regular cruise control. The Collision mitigation breaking system also sucks. Fortunately I haven’t had any episodes of auto breaking, but lots of break warning signals going around corners or when there are things just laying on the side of the road with no other cars around. For $60000 CAD this is unacceptable, I hope they address this sometime soon. As for-mentioned, this being my first new car, the ACC was the feature I was looking forward to the most. I suppose I can only blame myself for not testing this out better before I bought it, I made an assumption based on the fact it was a new vehicle. Everything else on the car has been working to expectations. The heated seats could warm up faster but get the job done. Love the spacious interior and simplicity of the dash controls.

A smooth and quiet cruiser

Traded my cramped and uncomfortable Mazda CX5 one month after purchase for our Honda Passport. I was craving more space and comfort and got both. Our 2023 Passport is equipped just right. Everything you need and not what you don’t. AWD standard, nice V6 engine, power seats, windows and tailgate. Build quality and comfort are all Honda. Only issue so far is the wide stance that requires I manually fold the drivers side side view mirror to enter the garage. Wish power folding mirrors were standard but would require moving up to Trailsport trim, another $3k or so. Also, V6 feels good but will not sit you back in your seat with hard acceleration. It takes a bit to get this big guy rumbling down the road. But I’ll happily forsake both issues for the quiet comfort. This is a wonderful highway cruiser. Very happy so far. Please consider this an update on two issues that I failed to mention during my initial review; 1. The wireless charging pad basically doesn’t work. I have an iPhone 13. If you can even find the right phone position on the charging pad that picks up the phone, the green light only blinks and will not charge the phone. Unfortunately, this feature is worthless and only serves as a place to store your phone. 2. The brakes are a little “mushy” and require quite a bit of pedal pressure to quickly stop the passport. Regardless, of these negatives, the positives are weighty.

Best Honea Yet

Our most recent purchase of a 2023 Passport Elite brings our total number of Hondas to 20. We love our Hondas. Obviously. To date, we've owned 1 Pilot; 1 Fit, 1 HR-V, 7 CR-Vs, 7 Civics, and 2 Oddessys. And now, our first Passport. It's taken us a while to consider the Passport, as all previous model versions were uninspiring. Subsequent test drives confirmed our suspicions. That aside, our intention in visiting Gunn Honda (the first of hopefully many more) was to drive home in a new Pilot. Besides our first Pilot being stolen off our driveway (one week into owning it), our experience was a delight. It took about a month for authorities to retrieve our Pilot, but after repairing the resulting damage, we enjoyed it for three years before it was time for a new one. It was then we learned that a redesigned Pilot was to be launched. We opted to wait for the release. In the interim, and after several rewarding HR-V purchases, we then heard about the release of yet another Pilot redesign. Thus, we found ourselves rolling into the San Antonio dealership with high hopes of the newest Pilot exceeding our expectations. It did. And then some. However, our eye caught the engaging lines of the redesigned Passport. A test drive later, we were hooked. Please understand, that as much as we love our Hondas, we can always cite where an improvement here or there would make for an even more refined automobile. Regardless, this is not the case with our new Passport. Were there such thing as a perfect SUV, the Passport is the first to earn such praise. Whether it's the throaty growl of its powerful V6, the sporty nimble ride, the luxurious interiors, or the cozy support of its capacious seating, the 2023 Passport has it all. We could not be any more elated.

My Passport to vacation

I just bought my 2023 Honda Passport and so far I am very pleased with it. It is well equipped and will be our vacation transportation. I have run into one issue that really is frustrating. The wireless charging pad will not work with my iPhone 14. I have read where the iPhones with MagSafe charging will not work. Honda has known about this issue since the iPhone 12 series and they continue to drag their feet on fixing the issue. I also did not like that Honda is still using Halogen high beam bulbs. When you buy the top trim level which is the Elite it should have LED lighting on everything. I immediately ordered LED high beam bulbs and changed them. I have also orders a VCM Muzzler to turn that feature off. Enough of the stupid gimmicks Honda get with the program

Mixed feelings

I drove the car for 3000 miles. It is a good vehicle so far, just not very exciting ride. On the plus side: I like the heated steering wheel, the low level of noise inside de car, it has good power from the engine, it felt fairly stable in the snow and ice with the original tires. I like the conservative look. The Garmin nav is cool. However, there are some big minuses. The car feels and is heavy. Mileage is 16-19. For this mileage I could’ve gone with a 4Runner. Transmission is jerky although lately it seems to improve. The heating is very weak, thankfully it has heated seats, even on max heat the air coming through vents is tepid. Infotainment system is poorly designed and poorly coordinated with the steering wheel controls. If trying to use engine brake and down shift with the paddles, it actually shifts up, which will lead to car going faster for a few seconds until it finally shifts down. This is quite dangerous on icy roads or going downhill. This makes me miss my previous Nissan Murano.

Not only was the driving experience below average for its class, but the audio system had substantial glitches even after trying four times to have it serviced at a Honda dealer. The radio often crackled loudly and sometime would not work at all. They were unable to fix it and we finally traded it in for a VW Taos. I used to think Honda was one of the best, but I will never buy a Honda again.

Hurt my back so much I had to sell it

We have always loved Hondas. Very reliable, decent driving experience. The Passport has poor gas mileage but lots of cargo space. Tech features are all good. We had wanted to keep this for 10 years! But we were only able to keep it for 3 weeks because it hurt both my and my husband's backs so much. The seats do not go far back enough. There is no place to put your elbow while driving because the little flip down things don't work and aren't comfortable. The lumbar support is too low and cannot be adjusted up. The wheel, seat, and gas pedal are in the wrong ratio. Something has gone horribly wrong with the ergonomics of this car. I have owned multiple cars in the past few decades and have never had a single one that has hurt my back.

Let me start off, that the Honda Passport, is definitely comfortable, spacious, versatile, and overall a great family SUV. It has good MPG, from what I came from. However, I did notice that Honda, removed the fog lights, conversation mirror, etc on the newer lower trim models. Not sure why they would make the older models more appealing for the lower trims and then strip all that off for the newer ones. If I knew that, I would have probably purchased a later year for a lower price and some miles with more features. Than a newer model with less features for more money. Each their own though.

I've owned the 2023 Honda Passport Trail Sport for only a brief time, but have been really impressed with its performance, ride, and even fuel economy (averaged 26 mpg on recent trip). The V6 280 HP engine is fantastic, and a real differentiator within the segment, it is powerful and responsive. Vehicle is super roomy yet handles quite nicely for its size. The rugged trail sport look and the Honda reliability make this a stand out choice. Highly recommend it.

I have driven this 2023 Trailsport Passport SUV for 22,000 miles - no issues, handles well, I love the V6 engine, smooth ride and the Eco feature. It is responsive and roomy. My only complaint is that the side view mirrors do not fold automatically and it doesn’t have a 360 camera - hopefully will be available with a future trim version refresh. I have no second thoughts about having purchased this Passport. Love it.

We purchased our 2023 Passport 4 months ago. Pros: Comfortable, all wheel drive, large cargo space capacity and the V6 engine provides plenty of power when needed. The only downside so far (compared to our previous vehicle) is the gas mileage. Our Passport gets approximately 20 MPG in the city. Our previous vehicle was a 2018 Honda Accord. It averaged about 39 MPG in the city. Overall, we love our Passport and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a powerful, AWD, mid sized, two row SUV.

Great looking vehicle, handles well, fairly easy to learn set-up system. Extremely happy with cargo area, which was main reason for purchase. Just wish cloth seats and no sunroof were options. I live in the South and am concerned about the leather seats, which is the only seat cover option, and the sunroof. Otherwise, having fun driving my new Passport.
