Used 2019 Honda Odyssey Minivan Consumer Reviews
Honda ZF 9-Speed Catastrophic Transmission Failure
Had a 2019 Honda Odyssey with the ZF 9-Speed Transmission - complete failure at 75k miles requiring replacement of transmission that cost $6.5K. Do not buy this vehicle. Transmission failure manifested itself in lower gears - no warning or anything. So much for Honda reliability. Will never buy one again.
MPG is only 14mpg
The biggest gripe that we have concerns the gas mileage. We are the typical elderly drivers (slow and steady, but at the posted speed limit) BUT our gas mileage, that began at 9mpg when we bought it, is still only 14mpg (combined city and highway driving). The EPA certificate was 22mpg (combined). Heck, our old 1999 Dodge pickup truck got better gas mileage than this vehicle. UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 2020: We took the vehicle back to our dealer and they got only 17mpg ON THE HIGHWAY ONLY. They stated we must bring any claim to Honda directly. When I advised Honda of the dealer's evaluation, Honda refused to compensate us for this inherently defective vehicle, or, to take it back and refund our purchase price. We are left with our only option being to file a lawsuit. So sad that Honda won't stand behind it's representations about their products. BUYER BEWARE OF NEW HONDA VEHICLES.

Honda Technology and Luxury in one
Wow Just blown away by this van every time we drive how it. Tons of technology and safety upgrades now built into the new Odyssey. Cabin feels like a luxury vehicle as well. Drives amazing increase of 30hp over prior year models. If you are in the market for a new van this is one to consider.

Transmission/Engine Noise
Leased a 2019 Odyssey Exl a little over a month ago. It drives and rides great except there is a noise in either the transmission or exhaust or engine on acceleration. I took it to the dealer and they said everything is fine. I will see how it goes.

Sucks for dog crates and dog performance equipment
This is my 3rd Honda Odyssey. My last was a 2007 which I could have easily kept for many more years had the rats not chewed through some wiring. Why Honda made certain changes which are NOT an improvement I don’t know. First, the Second row seats are very difficult to remove and do not fold all the way like my old model did. And worst of all when they are removed they leave two sliding platforms! What I had to do to level out the cargo area with the second row seats removed and the third row seats folded down was ridiculous in order to be able to put my two large dog crates inside. Come to also find out that the air vents in the back that used to be in the ceiling are now in the floor and covered up by anything I want to store! The whole reason for having a minivan! Very disappointing. I also hate not having a gear shift. The push buttons make me feel unsafe. The van does drive really nicely and looks great and they retain their value well. Building up the floor to make it level sucked up a ton of space and also makes it tough to see out the rear view mirror. If this car had a gear shift, stow and go seats for flat cargo, ventilation from ceiling, and better storage in the front (not anything like my 2007 had in dash) it would be perfect!
