Negitaves are: Removal of the second row seats does not give you a flat floor. The mounting platforms are still sticking up above the floor of the van. Rear air vents are rear firing from the sides and may not provide enough air to rear of van. Steering is dampened a little too much at highway speeds. Lane keeping assist is a joke. Cruise control has a lot of trouble matching the speed of some cars and sometimes it will slow down for no reason ( no car detected). Sometimes collision avoidance will activate for no reason and there is no way to permanently turn that off. You have to turn it off each time the car is started. The charging system and battery Is not right. Battery would not start car 3 times during first 12 months (Arkansas temperatures and nothing left on. Parked in warm garage) Battery had to be replaced after 18 months. New battery died after 6 months & Honda dealer said there was no warranty on the replacement. Rear suspension isn’t holding up well with a load. The transmission hasn’t broken even though it randomly shifts rough or makes a clank when shifting. No problems from the engine. No problems from the rest of the van.

I've owned four Odysseys, but went to a 2014 Sienna due to Toyota being willing to deal and thinking that the van would be an equivalent. How very wrong I was! No comparison! The Odyssey, is quiet, fuel economy is excellent (20% better all around than the previous Odysseys and the Sienna), the transmission is smooth, smooth, smooth (The 1999, 2004 and 2009 Odyssey shifts were terrible), and I really like the standard equipment on the EXL. Great driving aids and so comfortable and easy to drive. I have driven and owned many different vehicle in my 81 year old life and nothing I've ever driven drives as easy as this 2018 Odyssey. I expect that it will have the Honda reliability, but have only 2500 miles on this one. No defects of any sort found at this time. I do not understand the occasional bad reviews I have seen here. None of those problems exist on my van. I had a air conditioning failure while on a trip to Texas. It turned out to be a known factory defect. The dealer there took my vehicle right in and fixed it. The repair takes 3 to 4 hours. The side chrome trim along the side windows bottom could use some tweaking to get the ends to line up better. The acceleration curve is mushy in ECO so I tend to switch it out when driving in town.

I have owned this 2018 Odyssey EX L. Minor issues so far, but, first new car that have had so many recalls in only 3 years of ownership. I have been an avid Toyota fan since I was a teenager and decided to give new Hondas a try. Between 16k-18k miles, started having steering wheel vibration when braking at speeds above 30 mph. Brought it to be checked out at the dealership I bought it from. They are charging $175 to turn the front rotors. I still have my 2014 Toyota Venza which is driven the same way odyssey is driven, with 65k miles and still haven't done anything with the rotor and on original pads. I bought the wife a 2020 Pilot and at less than 3700 miles, I already have a the same steering wheel vibration when braking at speeds above 30 mph. Dealer turned the rotors. It only shows that there is a material issue here. Jerky shifts from 1st to second gear, intermittently. Otherwise, van handles well, comfortable, excellent gas mileage with good cargo space. Honda should look at the brake rotor suppliers and they should stand behind they product if issues like these are encountered by new car buyers if care has less than 36k miles

Unreliable - done with Honda’s

I dealt with the back pain for weeks after getting the new Odyssey. The drivers seat is too long for my 5’2” height. The next issue was the back window not going up after using the fob to lower all the windows at the same time. It needed a new striker. I constantly hear many complaints about lack of ac in the back and low radio volume in the 2nd row. When running errands at Christmas time, the 3rd stop was too much for my 8 month old car. It would not start. The steering wheel locked. In the old vans, you wiggled the steering wheel while turning the key. There is no key in the 2018. The battery needed to be jumped and the reading was 90 CCAs (should be 550CCAs). Took it to the dealer, battery was fine, “I should not be making 3 stops only a mile apart.” So, 2 weeks later, I drove 30 minutes and parked turning the car off. I changed my mind and restarted the car but the battery was dead again. This time the dealer did a diagnostic test revealing a short in the starter. Now, 9 hours and 4 days without my new 8,500 mile car, I feel cheated. I bought a new car so I didn’t have to go to the dealer with issues. It also is slow to go on a hill from a stop. More like 0 to 20 in 6 seconds. Buyers remorse!

Nice improvements over '16 model

Lots of new tech features over previous model. The darn thing drives itself if there are road center and shoulder lines. Very nice. Ride seems to also be quieter than the '16 model, larger wheels probably help as well. Good value, especially with all the new gadgets. Priced about the same as previous model with many additional features.
