Used 2013 Honda Odyssey Minivan Consumer Reviews
Our first Honda
We have 117,000 miles on this car and still own it. We just bought a 2018 EX-L Honda Odyssey which will replace the 2013. Through Edmunds we researched competition and pricing. Great help.

2013 odyssey
Reliable, smooth ride. Here's a few pointers: 1. Rear passenger spring Bushing wears out fast because it disintegrates due to the exhaust heat. It'll make a little clunk noise over slow bumps, easy to change and doesn't affect anything if you can live with it. 2. Transmissions are weak, highly advise to perform a drain and fill every year or two. Very simple, takes 20min and use valvoline maxlife atf. 3. Noisy cabin on highway 4. Disassemble and lubricate the brake components every 2 years and your brakes will last forever. 5. Those living in the north, the metal transmission line that goings into the bottom of the radiator gets rusted. Sometimes you can get to it from under if the bolts are not too corroded, otherwise you may have to pull the rad to replace it. Not a huge deal. Make sure you keep the plastic under engine cover. 6. Annoying to have to change the timing belt every 8yr or 160k km. Cost about thousand bucks. 7. Oil spray with krown or equivalent to make the van last forever. 8. The white paint is defective and will eventually peel. Honda extended this warranty for a couple years longernbut our van is now 11yr old, way out or warranty.

Excellent large family vehicle
If you have a large family, this vehicle is for you! Actually bought this in December, 2012. Between all the sports practices and school runs daily, this van didn't disappoint. It is a pleasure to take on those long vacation destinations, it's the most convenient car I've owned. The large automatic sliding doors make drop offs and pickups effortless. This vehicle doesn't just stop at a great people mover, it doubles as an enclosed pickup truck. As our kids grew and started to go out on their own, we were able to remove all the 2nd row seats, and drop down the 3rd row seats and it doubled as a box truck to move all their belongings. So, as my wife and I turn 60 this year, and we are seeing our youngest graduate college, we have 1 last 500 mile move to NC. This van has been much more than transportation for my family, many memories have come from the last 10 plus years in this vehicle. My wife and I have no plans on moving to a different vehicle even though all the kids have grown and moved out on their own. We find the van is very easy getting in and out of, the seats are comfortable and my wife likes that she is sitting higher in the van than in a car. Now for an honest review of the mechanics of the car over the past 10 years. Yes, brakes early on were definitely an issue with warping, but I have since been able to find better aftermarket rotors and pads that help with the longevity of the brakes. Also had front suspension noise that the dealer could never find. At 125,000 miles I had all the struts and bushings replaced and then the car felt brand new after that. We did start developing paint coming off the roof and rear tailgate, so the dealer did take care of painting that for us under warranty. (Color is pearl white) The car now has almost 160,000 miles and running strong with no signs of major issues.

Stay with your old Honda
Compared to my touring 2009 the new van falls so short. The inside quality has been reduced to that of an Amerian made van. The ride is not as smooth. Options are now overpriced. My 2009 had an buyer within the hour at above book price. Interesting that even others see he value in the older models. You do better o by a used Honda with the old body style. The old style is a blast to drive.
