Bought this new. Had a noise coming from the front strut at 10K miles. Took it to the dealership and they performed service bulletin 11-038, that fixed the problem for another 10K until the noise came back. Took it back to the dealership and they fix it again. Another 15K or so and the noise came back. Took it back to the dealership, now they found they have to change the struts. Car out of warranty, Honda made me paid for the repair, although it had been documented that this was a problem and they even had a service bulletin out. Do some research and see how many service bulletins there are. I guess 2011 wasn't a good year for Odysseys, and Honda won't stand by their products.

Not like a Honda!

Do NOT buy a 2011-12 Honda Odyssey without getting an extended warranty!!( I'm a previous mechanic). This mini van has had off and on problems..Mainly the steering and suspension, along with the climate control. My wife drives it only to drop off the kids to school, and a short distance to work- Florida. We bought it from a dealer in 2013... (31,000 miles)soon after the van would squeak and make noises upon turning. The dealer replaced almost the entire suspension under warranty. About 6 months later at 42,500 miles..the steering developed too much play in the wheel..steering pump, and other parts were replaced. The dealer stated it was the tires...however the Michelins were only 6 months old. Then during the following year, the a/c electrical unit in the dashboard had to be replaced, along with the timing belt earlier than recommended , due to the area leaking oil. Finally last month, there was knocking while going over bumps. At this point, I did not trust the dealer anymore, so I took it to Aamco for service. They said to take it back to the dealer because the front end damage was extensive. So the dealer again replaced the struts, and other parts of the front end. Apparently, the dealer never did the 4 wheel alignment properly. The van now has 87,000 miles on it..will it's problems ever end?? While driving on the highway...there is still too much play in the front end...more like for a car that has 150k miles on it..but what can we do?

I test drove a tan LX that I loved and was fun to drive. I purchased a different one for a better price and it does not seem at all like the one I tested (yes, they were both LX's) Mine has 4K miles on it and the SVT traction sensor has gone bad. The cheap plastic used in construction scratches/dents easily and leaves white gouges. I can move the dashboard with my hand. The city gas mpg is more around the 12-13 mark than the 19 stated by the EPA. I have found the controls awkward. The van is very bumpy, the ECO light constantly goes on and off and I can feel the shifting when this happens, and it does not have very much power. Overall, wish I had purchased the Sienna

Bought 2011 Odyssey brand new and had multiple problems from the start. After receiving so many recommendations from family and friends, we were sold on Honda in general and the Odyssey in particular. Thats why we bought it two weeks before our firstborn arrived(at a premium no less-34k base model). Almost immediately we heard the infamous steering noises. They never left(even after multiple dealer visits). Then, the brakes warped regularly(every 10k miles). The spark plugs and ignition coils had to be replaced before time$750(90k miles) and their premature failure managed to ruin the catalytic converter$1100 despite their immediate replacement. Thats not counting normal maintenance and "wear & tear" items: timing belt and water pump$1050@105kmiles, master cylinder$800@125k miles,alternator$780@132kmiles,front struts$575@148kmiles. Even after babying the car(religious Mobil 1 FullSyn Oil Changes, All type of reg filter changes, Annual NuFinish polishings, and garage storage we got this money pit. Its like we never stopped making car payments despite paying it off years ago! STAY AWAY!!!

New Odyssey is Great

I had a 2008 EX model prior to this. This time, I leased the "base" model, as it was most affordable, and I didn't think I'd miss the power doors and a couple of other features. I do miss them, but not that much. The overall appearance even on the LX model is nicer, more rugged appearance. Love the 17" wheels, even the LX model looks nicer than my old one. Brakes are noticeably better. I do like the controls on the old EX better. Overall though, the feeling, responsiveness of this van is a step up from the old model.
