Used 2001 Honda Odyssey Consumer Reviews
Nice to drive - but poor reliability
Purchased this to replace problem prone Sable Wagon. It was nice for 3 years but has had many problems since, new transmission (replaced by factory @ 44K thanks), door problems, rattles under hood, electrical problems, poor mileage ~ 13-15 overall except on long trips where its > 20. All service has been through the dealership. Overall we like the van - but too many little problems. The power doors hang up now - causing a buzzer to go off. We're told $500+/- to replace a motor. This isn't something I expect after 6 years and 90K miles from Honda.
Love It!!!!!!!!!!!
Only one small problem with the power sliding doors. Other than that I have never had a problem with anything significant. If your in the market for a minivan, you MUST drive the Odyssey and let it speak for itself.

My 2001 & 2007 Odyssey
We liked the 01 Odyssey very much so that we now own an 2007 also. The only problem to speak of was the tranmission. We had it replaced twice (under warranty). The van now has 92000 miles and going strong. The 01 is an EX the 07 is an EXL. Next year we plan on trading the 01 for an 08 Touring model.
Horrible Transmissions
We have had the transmission replaced twice and it's bad again. Honda knows it's bad but they won't stand behind it. We have had problems with the sliding doors not closing, the check engine light keeps coming on because of an EGR valve they can't seem to correct and had to have the wiring harness replaced and when they did it messed up the navigation system which hasn't functioned properly since the harness was replaced. Thousands of dollars worth the repairs. Total cost of ownership way too much for us and we have been Honda owners for 30 years. Time to look to another auto maker.
Superb Van
We bought this vehicle new in 01. It has been nothing short of outstanding. Incredibly reliable, versatile and safe. With almost 150,000 miles, I wouldn't hesitate to take it on another cross country trip. Great in the snow and comfortable for all occupants. Fantastic storage, still very good acceleration and handles like a car. Also decent mileage for a large vehicle (21 city, 27 hwy) I'd love to get a new vehicle but the wife absolutely loves it, so why spend the $$. Roll on Ody, roll on!
