Would do it all over again tomorrow
I've driven my 2000 for almost 6 years now, and have yet to find anything to complain about. My mileage is around 65 mpg on rolling hill highways, and about 58-62 around town. Never a problem or worry. I regularly pack the Insight with considerable astronomy and camping gear for two, for overnight stargazing outings. I've even hauled hay bales and sacks of feed for my sheep. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat
insight rocks!
Fun to drive - especially past the gas station! Surprisingly responsive. A technology marvel. It fits two full size adults and two golf bags -- no problems.
My car is a fun game.
I love my Insight. I play it like a video game, trying to get the "high score" of mileage. I also hate stopping to get gas. It's really wonderful to be able to drive from San Francisco to San Diego on less than one tank of gas. Because I play the game, I drive differently than I used to. I try not to speed up or slow down suddenly. My lifetime mileage is at 58 miles per gallon. I've found that where I drive makes the difference: hills, short trips and bad traffic are the things that reduce the mileage. Also the tires must be inflated for good mileage. I love the controls. I thought I wouldn't like the digital speedo, but I do. I found that the car is plenty big.
Honda Insight
The Overview basically sums it up... You just can't beat it for the money, used with aftermarket 5 yr 100K warranty for $7400. I did have a few slightly costly repairs from the previous owners minor accident, but it is well worth it in the long run. Everone should have their own Insight at least for a daily driver. I'm sure the costs would drop dramatically if enough people were buying them for commutes.

Car has excceeded my expectations. The MPG for 122K+ miles is 70.5 MPG. Coming from a Dakota, gas consumption has been reduced by 700+ gallons a year. Do the math. While a bit underpowered, the 5 speed manual allows for compensation. Where's the 'Insight II' with 90 MPG or so...?
