Crappy car

This is the worst car I have ever owned. It has a very loud cabin when driving on a highway and you can feel every bump in the road. Stiff suspension no navigation in the exl model. Stereo system is just ok.

We got our CRV Hybrid sport for about 2 months. We love how it drives, how it looks. And being a hybrid it is very good on gas mileage. Interior is nice, the new design exterior looks a lot better than the previous model. I think the sport trim for the hybrid is the sweet spot, as the sport touring trim price range you are looking closer to an Acura RDX base model.. all in all. Pros are that it drives great, plenty of room in the back seats and it reclines as well, styling and how it handles. Cons there are a few, such as no spare tire due to a hybrid needs the room in the trunk for the battery, no panoramic sunroof, not a fully digital gauge, no ventilated seats, no 360 camera. But I guess Honda is leaving all these features to the Acuras. We still love the car for what we paid for. If you are okay for not having all these bells and whistles that other competitors offers. Then it’s a good choice, Honda is very reliable and so far we are happy with this purchase.

After owning the car for 9 months I’ve had 3 issues, I’ve had lane assist light come on see dealer. Car is reviving high rpm’s for no reason. Back right window won’t roll down. Part has been placed for order at the Honda dealership. They found of course no issues and told me to take a picture of the lane assist see dealer. That’s exactly what I want to do with two kids in the car is take a picture going down the road of the attention light. I went from South Carolina into North Carolina and went to go climb the Mountain the car literally wouldn’t go. I was with the 18 wheelers in the slow right lane praying they wouldn’t even run me over. Less than 5,000 miles on it!!! I expected more from Honda.

Handles well and economical . Don’t need an electric vehicle. The turbo makes it quick to get out of streets.

I enjoy the ride. Good pick up. There a few things that disappoint. The back cargo section doesn’t have a shade to cover/hide the contents even tho it has the slots for it. There is no navigation and you must plug your your phone in order to get it to show on screen. There is a platform. That look like a wireless charger but it is not. The lane correction goes off randomly. There is no beep to indicate your car is locked. Mirrors don’t go in when car is locked you have to do it manually. Having had this in my previous vehicle I can easily forget. Back up camera doesn’t beep when close just shows line and only for the back. There is no pocket behind the drivers seat. For the price and being a new vehicle I would have thought some of these things were pretty standard.

Like driving it and rides very smooth. The gas engine is a little loud when it's pulling a big hill. Over all I think we are going to like it very much. Have 230 miles on it and still has over half tank of fuel.

Major steering defect

Leased a new 2023 Honda CRV Sport Touring Hybrid last summer. Initially the car was good; but in recent months the steering progressively has started stuttering and now locking when turning. This now appears to be a major emerging issue nationwide. The agency has driven the car and acknowledged the problem. They say the problem is with the Rack and Pinion module. They said they already have had to order an RPS module for another client for similar reasons. They anticipate the replacement RPS to arrive in 6 months. They have offered a rental vehicle with surrender of my vehicle until the car is fixed. So basically I leased a specific car (specific VIN) and must continue to make payments on a car that cannot be driven and will sit in a lot. Again, this is a major emerging issue with this vehicle. WOULD NOT buy or lease this car until this issue is sorted out.

I traded in a 2019 Honda crv which was excellent in Texas. However the new 2023 crv is by far the best yet. Smooth ride, lots of room, lots of pep. I receive praise every where I drive it. Honda is going to sell a lot of these. So much better than the 2019 (even though I really liked my 19). Really glad I purchased this one.

On the 2023 Honda CRV EX and Sport Hybrid models the infotainment system is not only undersized at 7 inches but it is a total joke. Graphics are way too small and too much blank space on an already undersized screen. It's nothing more than a glorified FM radio. Sound is nothing to brag about either.

Seriously? No SiriusXM!

The last 4 cars we have owned have all had SiriusXm radios including 2 Honda CR-V's. This new 2023 CR-V only has an AM/FM radio. We had already signed the papers and wrote the check. After we got home with it, we called the salesman and asked why they hadn't activated the SiriusXm. He said we needed to call Sirius to set it up, so we did. Sorry, your radio won't take SiriusXm! The car salesman obviously didn't know it didn't have a SiriusXm radio installed. We told him that if we had known, it would have definitely been a deal breaker. We even asked about trading the car back in for our older one. We couldn't do that because we didn't have the registration yet and that would take about 30 days. He said we could download the SiriusXm app on a phone and plug it into the car. That works ok until you hit a cell phone dead spot while driving. Also, the handy release latches on the sides of the cargo area that you open to lay the seat backs down are gone. You have to pull the release on top of one seat then go around to the other side of the car to pull the release on the other seat. Which again is ok unless it's pouring rain, then, you'll get soaked. Honda must have gotten a good deal on black cloth, because most of the exterior color options only come with a black interior. On the positive side, the 2023 still handles well when driving, the seats seem to have more cushion and the headlights are great. We've owned it for less than a week, so there may be more positives after driving it for a while. For now, we are just very disappointed in what Honda has taken away from the CR-V standard trim.

Test drove a 2023 CRV. Liked - good hp, vehicle felt solid, quiet ride. Dislike - new look, front looks too long big and bulky. Dealer rep said sunroof/moonroof comes standard on the new CRV models, I would rather have the extra inch or two of head room.

I love love love this car! It's been a while since I'vevbought a brand new car & the CR-V Hybrid checked all the boxes. It's roomy & beautiful inside. It handles great & is tight. I can see EVERYTHING out of the windshield - no blind spots. It's very similar to a Lexus but not as pricey. I'm am extremely happy with my purchase!

Had to give my 2006 honda crv to my daughter so she had a car to drive and it has 263,000 miles on it. Went and bought the crv hybrid, ordered it in November of 2022 and it didn't come in until March of 2023. We loved driving it immediately, very smooth and quiet and great acceleration. I don't care for the GPS system and noticed when we first got car it paired up easily with my Samsung s23 phone and it worked for awhile being able to bring Waze on screen, now it doesn't, have to figure that out. I loved the kick start feature to open up the hatch and now after having car for 7 months it is now not working properly, either doesn't close, or closes halfway or doesn't work at all. Take it back to dealer they say it's probably a simple fix and they reprogram it, when I pick it up later I try it out several times and seems to be working, go to supermarket and it opens but then I go to close it and hatch closes and then pops open again. Then it starts working again. Not feeling too good with a brand new expensive car already having issues, what's next

I was surprised with the New SUC and initially had concerns as I’ve owned a Yukon for the past 15 years and downsizing was the MAIN thing as I like to drive in comfort . When I say the CRV EXL well exceeded my expectations. It’s a great vehicle , very comfortable and it’s beautiful . I’ve only had it a week and haven’t gotten fully knowledgeable on all the features . Thnx Honda for becoming a part of my family for the very first time

Gray car- fun to drive and plenty of get up and go in sport mode- mileage so far in high 30’s- so I’m happy with the mileage as I know real world isn’t what’s on the door sticker- the car is big enough for tall drivers- I’m 6’2” and have plenty of head and legroom- the 7 screen isn't all that large but honestly it works well- I don’t have any issues seeing what I need to- comfortable seats/ great visibility and easy to park- I think there’s a reason the CRV is so popular- it does everything a little better than well!

Wonderful little car--dont let the :"smallness" fool you. It can haul lots of stuff! It is not fast, but is quick and can change lanes or pass other cars with ease. Cabin feels good, it is not cramped but not huge. Mileage is wonderful--took a trip in July to the midwest and averaged 34+ doing 80 & 85mph. My only complaint is Honda took out the CD player. I go places where even Sirius XM cannot get through. It could also use a larger gas tank. Love the shifter instead of paddles and remote start plus power tailgate are worth the cost.

2017 Accord LX coupe had better base features

I bought the CRV LX.AWD The base model. My 2017 Accord L coupe was totaled in a storm and needed to be replaced. The coupe ceased being make after 2017 so decided to give the CRV a shot.. Disappointments-- ONLY one USB port, seriously? No blind spot camera on right side mirror, buttons on steering wheel for volume and cruise are TINY. driving in "econ mode" get only mileage for last fill up or reset, no "current drive" mileage, manual seat(2017 LX Accord had 6-way power seat).C-D pillars creates HUGE blind spot especially with no blind spot camera. Positives--Love the room, overall great visibility except C-D pillar area, nearly or as good or equal gas mileage. FULL sized spare! Leg room and back seat room plus they recline slightly. Can step into and out of the vehicle instead of crawling in and out as opposed the the Accord coupe!

I Want To Like It....

JonnyD, 11/22/2023
2023 Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid EVT)
3 of 3 people found this review helpful

The 2023 CR-V Sport Hybrid does so many things right, but I don't trust the build quality, hybrid powertrain, or reliability for a long term buy. I leased the CRV for 3 years/10,000 miles per year. I'm 1 year into my lease, and at the end, I'll likely trade the CR-V in for something different. Interior: I think the interior is great. The rear doors open 90 degrees which makes it super easy for my kids to get in and out. The trunk is large with a big opening making it easy to carry luggage, etc... The cloth seats are nice, and although I do prefer leather, I think the cloth seats are comfortable for short or long trips and seem to be holding up well with just over 8k miles. Tech isn't anything to write home about, but the infotainment system has worked flawlessly with Apple Car Play which I use almost every time I drive the CR-V. The non-Bose sound system is poor. If you care at all about listening to music or podcasts, go with the Sport Touring and get the Bose sound system. I'm serious, in my opinion the "factory" sound system is really bad. Performance: The CR-V is SLOW. The only time this affects me is when I want to pass someone. We have a lot of 2-way highways where I live where the speed limit is 65. I set my cruise around 70 and if I get behind a slower driver, I have to put it to the floor every time I pass someone and know I have a good stretch of road ahead to make the pass safely. Often times when I do this, I get a burnt/burning smell which doesn't make me feel great about the trans/motor. Comfort: The CR-V is comfortable. The perfect way to put it is the way almost everyone explains it... The CR-V is super easy to live with on a daily basis. It just does things right. It's easy to get in and out of. Blind spots are minimal. Seats are comfortable. Ride is almost like a Volkswagen style ride where you get a firm yet honest road feel. However, I do not agree that this is a quiet car. I wanted to drive the Sport Touring trim which has some additional sound deadening features but wasn't able to due to availability at the time. So many people write and talk about how quiet this vehicle is in the city and on the highway, and I don't agree. The motor is noisy and there's significant wind and tire noise. It's just not that quiet. Also, Honda, please do something about the horn and the reverse noise... The horn is embarrassing, and the reverse hybrid noise is ridiculous. I think my 2017 Silverado LTZ with all terrain tires is quieter than this car. MPG: I get about 29 highway and 41 city. Keep in mind that in Edmunds expert review, they got 33.3 combined which they deemed "disappointing." If you're driving mostly city, get the Hybrid! I've talked to owners getting 48-49 mpg from their CR-V's driving 80/20 city/highway. I do the opposite and drive 20/80 City/Highway and my lifetime average is right at 28. I do auto start the vehicle quite a bit which affects my mileage. I'm happy with it knowing that on the highway I'll get close to 30. If I did it again, I would put a little more thought into the 1.5L turbo motor which seems to do just as well if not better on the highway and eliminates the hybrid system. Issues: I've had this 2023 CR-V back to the dealer 2 times for warranty and 1 time for a concern. The first was an ECU flash update which wasn't a big deal. The second was the transmission recall. My entire transmission was replaced at 6k miles. It's important to note that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my transmission. It was one of the few that had a part that "could have" been installed broken or backwards. In my eyes, my new car just had a big surgery which affects resale, long term reliability, and trust in the vehicle. I don't care that it got a new transmission from Honda, I don't trust long term reliability of the CVT. Lastly, there's something going on with the steering on this vehicle. It doesn't bother me at slow speeds, but at highway or cruising speeds, there seems to be a "stickiness" in the steering. I've read the steering racks could be bad as this was seen on many Accords, but Honda hasn't addressed it with the CR-V. I brought it back to the dealer for this concern, and they deemed it "normal." I'll live with it for now, but it's not normal. Styling: Some say Honda played it safe with the styling of the 2023 CR-V. I think that's probably true, but I really like how my white CR-V looks. I get compliments often, and when it's clean, it's a sharp midsize SUV.

Drove my sisters 2023 CRV Hybrid touring for a week-32.5 MPG. Total joke might as well buy the regular version. I drove normal on the highway and in town, Honda can't touch Toyotas hybrid system. Its a great driving car-fancy interior. If somebody tells you otherwise they get the sticker MPG they are full of BS.

...or gal...or one yet to make up your mind...this is the pretty clear choice in the segment. The other review is correct, and Edmunds official info. is incorrect, re: this NOT having wireless CarPlay (wired only). I personally am okay with this, as the sound quality is better with wired, though I only say "okay" and not "fine" b/c it's true that a car/SUV at this price point in 2023 should have wireless. I disagree with the person who said the sound quality is bad, though; it isn't. Once you accept you're just going to be always plugging-in your phone, which I've been used to prev. anyway, it becomes not the biggest deal. This is the smart trim level, at least for me, as a lot of the things it doesn't have (another example: leather) I wouldn't necessarily want. Yes, Hyundai/Kia will give you more features and a better looking screen for this price...that's not irrelevant (and this isn't a 5-star review), and/but my parents have a (non-hybrid) current-gen Tucson, and while I like it's tech, it rides like flint...and the engine sounds like flint sometimes. In contrast, CR-V drives like latest tech. out of Japan, which it is. *This is a review of the SUV [a couple weeks in], and not the dealer/dealer experience*

Great Car... I have had many Hondas. I have tried to jump ship to another Car manufacturer. And I keep coming back. I tried the other SUV's. But the Honda CRV Hybrid Touring just feels more solid. It feels small compared to my Honda Pilot. (which is exactly want I wanted). Very quiet, very good feel of the road, very good visibility. All the climate buttons are very easy to find and use while driving. Other brands you just have to think a little too much to find a defogger etc. Its quick enough, and I feel safe. The other brands will have to wait for me a bit longer. Good Job Honda

CR-V Sport Touring trim is worth the extra $$

After 7 straight high-end Accord leases, the 2023 Accord was lengthened and no longer fit in my garage. While I was delighted with the Accords, I switched and leased the new highest trim CR-V hybrid, the Sport Touring trim which is 7-8" shorter than the Accord, though it doesn't look it. It is the most refined Honda I've had yet, and excels in nearly every category. While it's not as fast as my previous 10 speed Accord (neither is the new Touring Accord with that powertrain no longer offered), my CR-V has terrific off-the-line torque and acceleration, and more than adequate pep on the highway when passing. It has amazingly little body roll for a taller vehicle, a taut but very muted ride, less road noise, and terrific seats (I'm told they're a little tight for "wider" drivers). The ergonomics are perfect, the overall handling is excellent for an SUV, and I'm meeting EPA numbers in highway driving, and exceeding those numbers on the urban cycle. I usually see 40-42 mpg in my supermarket commute of 8 miles, and 37-38 mpg per tankful with mixed driving. Yes, when you tromp on the throttle, you hear the engine rev up, but it's not coarse or at all unpleasant. Braking is terrific, with no hybrid weirdness. The E-CVT is not a "regular" CVT and is responsive and a pleasure with its simulated shifts. Wind noise is minimal, and this is the quietest Honda ever...I presume the 2023 Accord Touring is just as quiet, and probably a tad faster with a lighter weight. On the other hand, my CR-V has AWD, and in Buffalo that's going to come in handy every now and then. Okay--here are some of the advantages to stepping up to the Sport Touring trim over the Sport. It has extra soundproofing in the glass and wheel wells exclusive to the trim, and if you test it vs the Sport, the difference is quite discernible. You get 19" wheels vs 18". The premium 12 speaker Bose system is the best ever in any Honda, available only in Touring editions of the CR-V, Civic, and Accord. With the overall quiet in my trim, the sound system is sublime compared to my previous 2020 Touring Accord. You get leather seats, a flexible power hands-free rear gate, the 9" (vs 7" in the Sport) touchscreen, heated steering wheel (NA Sport), navigation (NA Sport), standard AWD vs FWD on Sport, standard HD radio (NA Sport), satellite radio (3 months) NA Sport, wifi hotspot (NA Sport), & power passenger seat (NA Sport). What's missing? The HUD and ventilated seats I had in my 2020 Touring Accord. What's the greatest thing for aging drivers? The seat height is PERFECT getting in and out, as opposed to the low seats in the Accord. The overall level of refinement is luxurious for this class vehicle, but as much as road noise has been dampened in the Sport Touring trim, there is still room for improvement on coarse pavement. All in all, it's a pleasure to drive. And for young families, rear doors open 90 degrees, making kiddies/car seats much easier a task for parents. With the high voltage rear electric motor in the hybrid, there's a tire repair kit and no room for a spare. I haven't had a flat in decades, but that's something which might prove to be a problem along the line. Both hybrids have identical powertrains and suspensions, and both have very stylish and attractive interiors. The Sport w/FWD does get a little better mpg, but both vehicles are great values, and both have terrific greenhouse visibility all around, along w/more than 76 cu ft storage w/rear seats down. Finally, my CR-V in Canyon River Blue Metallic is a looker. I don't fish for compliments, but it has garnered plenty in parking lots. Honda could do some work on more interior colors, and maybe exterior choices too, but this color blue makes for the best looking Honda I've had. I would never get a car based only on its looks, but the styling on this trim is a huge bonus, especially from the front. Can you tell I love this vehicle? UPDATE: The only flaw is some inexplicable dropouts in my Sirius/XM signal (Sirius/XM isn't available anymore in most Hondas, including the Accord Touring). These dropouts almost never occurred in my previous Accords, and I don't think they're due to blocked signals. I think there's an electronic glitch. It's quickly fixable by bringing up the home screen and hitting Sirius/XM, but that's a little bit of a nuisance. Once in a great while, I get an inexplicable rattle from somewhere inside the instrument panel, but it always goes away by the next trip. Not worth having the dealer disassemble the dash to find it because of its infrequency. All other functions after 16 months are essentially flawless, and it remains a true pleasure to drive! Now, at 22 months into my lease, all continues fundamentally well...except for an occasional rattle at 60-65 mph somewhere inside the dash...and too frequent dropouts of my Sirius/XM signal not related to terrain or building, as well as the clock sometimes, at starting, running 3-3.5 hours behind before resetting itself within 5 minutes. Still thoroughly enjoy this vehicle!

Absolutely love this vehicle. It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and it drives like a dream. It is very comfortable inside and is very spacious. I travel a lot for work and always have a car full of supplies and equipment. So this car suits my needs and lifestyle perfectly. First Honda, First Hybrid

I purchased the 2023 Honda CRV Hybrid Sport new in January of 2023. I am very pleased with the vehicle. In Sport mode, it has all the performance I need for any driving situation. The mechanical and EV modes are seamless in their operation and driver awareness of the source of power at any time is virtually transparent and you really wouldn't know without observing the EV moniker on the dashboard. The vehicle is very comfortable to get in and out of and the seats are comfortable for longer rides. I am around 6' 3" and find the headroom and vehicle interior fits me well. With about 8000 miles on this vehicle at this point, I am very happy I purchased it for my daily drive. Most of my driving is around town and short trips of 20-30 miles or less. My last vehicle used premium fuel and the CRV uses regular gasoline. With an average of 41-42 mpg in the CRV I find my weekly fuel bill with the milage and lower per gallon cost is about half what it was during fill-ups with my previous Lexus GS 350.

Bought a new 2023 about a year ago, having trouble with the adaptive cruise. Dealership tried to fixed it twice and still not working. Very frustrating on a long trip when you have to use your foot on the gas pedal most of the way. Not happy with the outcome of this frustrating problem. Loved my old model. Nothing but trouble with the new one!

I have driven a Honda Accord Sport for years, & love it. I tried to buy another one but it is now only produced in hybrid. I am not interested in hybrids. I drove the CRV gas version because I thought it was nice looking. I did not like how it drove, interior looked cheap & there was a lot of road noise. Since Honda only offers the sport in hybrid & I do not feel comfort with that I have crossed Honda off my list. They have lost a loyal Honda customer.

Comfortable, roomy interior, and nice ride. But we bought a Hybrid mainly because of the fuel economy. So far the fuel mileage has been less than advertised and lower than its competitors! Seems like Hondas hyped "new and improved" hybrid system is not as efficient as most of its competitors based on personal experience and many other reviews. Another negative is the fact that Honda forces hybrid buyers to settle for only black wheels with no option to choose a silver wheel, even though its available on the non-hybrid CRV. Makes no sense that they could not have offered both colors. We did not care for the black wheels at all. Seems like they have taken the attitude of "this is the way we are packaging it....take it or leave it". We are waiting to see what the new 2025 Toyota Rav4 looks like, may trade the CRV.

I struggled to give up my 2007 CR-V. I put over 136,000 miles on it. We had a best friend relationship. I have been considering upgrading to a newer model and of course it was going to be another Honda. When I saw the new body style, I immediately fell in love with it. I love my 2023 CR-V and I see a new best friend relationship again.

My wife has had a 2017 and a 2019 Touring CRV. It has been a good, reliable car that gets good highway mileage. She hit deer with both of them and that’s when we traded them in. I test drove the new Hybrid Touring Hybrid. I was looking forward to a quieter ride and better acceleration. I didn’t like the Black wheels, the cheap looking interior. The touchscreen looked out of place, like an afterthought. When I returned from my test drive I told the salesman I didn’t notice any improvement in acceleration, which your 0-60 times confirm. He said the extra power was mostly torque. He also said I couldn’t have a hitch like my other CRVs, because it couldn’t tow. When i said we don’t tow, we only use a bike rack he said they weren’t allowed to install a hitch. What good is extra torque if you can’t tow, get the same acceleration and only 2mpg better mileage on the highway? We are just repairing our 2019 even though it will take 3 months because of supply chain issues.

Couldn't be happier with our purchase. UPDATE: I have driven the new 2023 Honda CR-V for 3 months now, and I have to say that I love it more every time I drive it. It rides so smooth. It is the smoothest driving SUV that we have ever owned by far. I read someone's review about not including Sirius. It absolutely has Sirius installed on the radio. We were fortunate enough to get 3 free months, but after that, it is your responsibility to pay for Sirius. I just wanted to clarify Sirius is actually an option for anyone looking to purchase a new 2023 CR-V. It drives well in Snow mode. It does very good on gas in Econ mode. My recommendation after 3 months of driving one, if you are looking for a good SUV, the new 2023 CR-V is a very good option.
