Used 2018 Honda CR-V EX-L 4dr SUV AWD (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT) Consumer Reviews
After 20 years with my last Honda
I expect this car to also last 20 years as my last Honda did. The only reason I purchased a new car ad so needed an SUV. I love all the safety devices and I thought I would just turn them off! It took one trip down the turnpike to appreciate everything!!!!! Great pickup and handling. Great safety features. My car read me my messages and even told me it was time for me to stop for coffee. Unbelievable!!!! I love her. Her name is Moby by the way!

Defective engine, no heat, many electrical problem
This is my 12th and last Honda vehicle. Honda, knowingly, continued to sell vehicles with defective engines and has acted like a philandering politician with lies deception and 'solutions' that not only didn't fix the problem, it created others. After the recall, er, update my 2018 CRV doesn't produce any heat at idle. I could let it idle for 12 hours and it wouldn't produce enough heat to defrost/defog the windows. Honda says that this is normal. So, I have to drive 10-16 minutes with ice covered windows. Honda says this is normal. My oil reeks of gasoline. Honda says this is normal. I have no confidence that oil diluted by gasoline is providing proper lubrication to the engine. China MADE Honda issue a recall of all CRV for defective engines. Honda says this is normal. In addition, the vehicle has numerous electrical issues. Auto lights don't work. Outlets don't work. All the warning lights will randomly come on while driving- Brake system failure/Collision Mitigation system failure/LKA failure. Paid nearly $40,000 for a defective vehicle and Honda says this is normal. Even though I'm losing a bit of money, I am relieves that I was able to get out of this lemon and into a better car, which I pick up Tuesday.

Poor City Fuel Economy
We really like our 2018 Honda CR-V. But it is not a perfect car. Fit and finish is very good but we do hear some some faint rattles coming from the dashboard over rough pavement. Otherwise, it's pretty quiet and very comfortable inside. The rear doors feel super cheap. When you close them they feel weak like tin foil. Oddly, the front doors close and sound normal. When you read reviews for the CR-V, you read that this is one of the faster crossovers. This is not a fast car. Acceleration is adequate around town. If you're merging on the highway, you really need to time it and punch it so the turbo kicks in. I do think the engine/transmission is a bit noisy but you get used to it. Visibility isn't that great which seems odd for a boxy car. The windows are on the small side. The pillars seem wide. The tiny rear quarter glass and small rear window do not help either. Also, the seat belt for the rear middle seat comes from the ceiling. That's annoying. Get the EX or EX-L so you get the Blind Spot Monitoring. My biggest complaint is fuel economy. An EX-L with AWD is supposed to get 27/33. On the highway we do get 33 or even 34 mpg. However, in real world city driving we get around 20 mpg. This is stop and go traffic up to about 40 miles per hour. On a bad day it can be 19, on a good day it's 21. I know the estimates are only estimates, but a 7 mpg difference is large especially since this only has a 14 gallon tank. We wish the tank was a few gallons larger to reduce fill ups. So yeah even though this review is mostly complaints, we do like the CR-V. We still liked this better than the Toyota RAV4 (2018) and the Mazda CX-5.

AVOID The Troubles!
I bought a new 2018 CR-V in December 2017 to replace my Cadillac CTS. BIG MISTAKE! The CR-V has been a lot of trouble since I bought it. While it rides and handles pretty well it seems to be an electrical nightmare. The touchscreen has a mind of it's own turning on and off at will, changing radio stations and lighting intensity and many other things it was designed to do at it's discretion. Very annoying to have these things happening. It does this periodically and for differing lengths of time. The dealer refused to accept it in for repair or replacement telling me Honda is aware of this problem and can't provide a fix. They did replace it once but it continued. What am I supposed to do with an electronically controlled car that doesn't respond to my needs or demands? The door locking system is iffy choosing the worst times to refuse to unlock or lock. The auto-drive features also turn on and off without me selecting them too. I HATE THIS POS AND I'M STUCK WITH IT! I'll never buy another Honda product for any price. Sure wish I could get my CTS back! Best feature: AWD and color-Molten Lava Worst feature: Electronics
