Hands-Free Phone Distortion Issue

Purchased our first Honda, a 2018 CR-V EXL AWD, in June, 2018. Soon learned that my hands-free phone component had lots of distorted background noise on the recipient's end of call. The distortion sounds like my windows are down (they aren't); I am underwater (I’m not) and got worse with higher rates of speed. The dealer service dept. replaced both microphones, updated the software, paired different phones both with my vehicle and with ten (10) other new 2018 CR-Vs off their lot, all to no avail - distortion was present with all vehicles. Distortion problem exists whether using Bluetooth or plugging phone into USB ports and with every type of cell phone tested. Visited dealer service dept. seven (7) times in three (3) months. Said there was nothing else they could do. Called Honda Corporate Customer Service who stated: “it’s not technically happening within my vehicle, it is working as it was designed to work (really?), it cannot be improved upon…case closed! They offered no other compensation. Took vehicle to different dealer one hour away. They confirmed distortion noise with our vehicle and with four (4) other new 2018 CR-Vs of various trim packages off their lot. Distortion problem exists with all vehicles tested. Final conclusion to date: Perhaps a software compatibility issue; however Corporate Honda has NO solution and does not appear to be seeking one.

Honda CR-V is a quality choice

Gas mileage is the real deal. Getting easily over 30mpg combined city/highway. We keep it in the economy mode all the time, which doesn't have any zip at all. Ride is very comfortable. Visibility is OK. Radio is just OK quality. Might want to upgrade this if sound quality matters. Fantastic turn radius. Very comfortable seating in the front and back. Cargo area is roomy.

EDMUND'S DIDN'T GET THIS ONE RIGHT!!!

While buying a new car can be stressful, checking with all resources is always best to do. I rely on Edmunds and Consumer Reports before buying any new vehicle. This time both agencies dropped the ball. I was very, very close to buying a Honda CRV when I came upon a forum at the bottom of the page in the Edmunds online site. What an eye opening I got reading about all the trouble with gas in the oil of the 2017, 2018 and the 2019 are still not known. To verify my information I called the the Honda Headquarters to find out if this information was true. In fact, it is all true and an investigation is still going on. This may only be a problem in Cold States I was told (but there are plenty of cold sates in the US). Funny, while at the Honda dealer twice, this trouble was never mentioned (I was looking at both 2018 and 2019 models). I even point blank asked the sales dealer and he said he knew nothing about it. SORRY, not HONDA, good thing I did my homework. Happy to say I am the proud owner of my 3rd Subaru Forester.

I am a past owner of Honda vehicles including a CR-V. I currently drive a Subaru Forester and am looking to upgrade to a SUV model with a driver assistance system so am looking to upgrade to a new Forester with Eyesight but also wanted to give the Honda CR-V a try. First of all, the CR-V looks nice on the outside and the interior is very well done with high quality materials and comfortable seats. The test drive, however, didn't convince me to go back to Honda. The car is smooth and mostly quiet but the powertrain leaves a lot to be desired. I felt completely disconnected from the vehicle...kind of a numb feeling. The acceleration was good only if you really aggressively pressed the pedal which felt mushy...it did not have a "snappy" response at all...it felt heavy. The car handles well but I can't say that I at all enjoyed driving it...compared to my Forester, it doesn't hold a candle in the drive and handling feel. My Subaru feels substantial, stable, roomy with an "open, airy" feeling and the acceleration with the normally aspirated 2.5i engine is surprisingly peppy - the visibility all around is second to none in the Forester. The interior materials of the CR-V beats the Subaru for sure - the Forester's interior is functional and simple but is not "sharp looking" like the CR-V but the Forester has a much more spacious feel - but if the driving experience is what you are looking for, I'd pay close attention if you test the CR-V and I'd certainly give the Subaru Forester a spin also for comparison...it is also notable that the Subaru Eyesight system is highly rated compared to Honda's Honda Sensing system and among most all other manufactures - it sets the standard...another thing to think about...

Went into dealer to buy an Odyssey

Went into dealer intending to buy an Odyssey. We both decided that as an everyday vehicle it was too large. The CR-V was just about right. I traded an Acura RDX so this felt just like home. My only two complaints are lethargic acceleration and a noisy engine.
