If only they made cars like this today
1999 Honda CRV- now with 257,000 and just runs like a deer. AWD is excellent, handling, off road capable. Acceleration and hill pulling taxing but not annoying. The materials used in this car are fabulous, the seats have no deformation, no fabric wear, dash hasn't ab fade or crack, impressive. Inexpensive to own, demands little gives much, I understand 1998 and 1999 are the best of bused years. Find one--get it--keep it. ******* Update 2019. Well the A/C bit the dust at 280,000M LOL! Yup I am going to fix it. Had an issue replacing a light bulb drivers side--they haven't got it realigned correctly. AWD flawless, everything else works 100%. Paint is an issue--clear coat peels and then oxidation, but only on the hood and the belt-line just under the windows. Going to sand down and shoot with light gray primer--the car is forest green should look nice. Honestly the best car I have ever owned--and OBTW my other AWD is a Lexus RX 350. So go figure.

Fabulous reliable car, love it
We have had this car for almost ten years and have only replaced the battery and the tires. We have more than 250 000 km on the car, we take it back and forth to the cottage. We have towed things behind it, moved stuff in it. We have utilized this vehicle to its full capacity and it has given us no aggravations or problems. We would not hesitate to buy it again.

Love it- but hate things as well!
Sold our 97' Rav4 for this, comparing both, I'd lean towards the Rav for my personal use. Don't get me wrong the CR-V is a GREAT SUV, but I hate the fact you can't open the back window/door manually, you need the remote or button inside the vehicle. VERY ANNOYING!! The space in the back, though sufficient, is lacking in height, because of a useless " picnic table". My Rav I could fit my bike in it and a dog, plus when yard sailing buy a snow blower or something else higher and fit NO PROBLEM. But all in all this a good car, and I do love Hondas, will only buy Honda or Toyota, however I do miss my Rav.
honda crv is number 1
great vehicle. there is nothing else to say - it's a honda...
Purchased 12/98 Drives like new 12/02
I purchasd my silver 1999 Honda CRV LX new in Dec 1998. This vehicle now has 80,000 miles on it and other than general routine maintenance and oil changes, it drives like the day I first drove it of the dealership lot. My wife just purchased a 2003 Saturn VUE, which so far, appears to be a tremendous value compared to today's mini-SUV offerings. I will admit, I'm not jealous of her car at all -- my CRV will be going strong still by the time she's ready to give her car up in five years. Thanks to HONDA for making a brand of car built with such high quality standards.
