Avoid 2007
Tire wear is terrible because of a defective Rear Upper Control Arm. Honda did not do a recall but there was a class action suit forcing Honda to replace the defective parts and reimburse customers for premature tire wear. Unfortunately for me, I did not find out until after the expiration of the settlement which was January 16, 2014. That is after I spent more than $2,000 for new tires, struts, shocks, alignments, etc., trying to fix the problem. 2006 through 2009 models have extended warranties related to another serious issue where coolant leaks and can cause engine block damage and complete engine failure. The seats are wearing out much faster than any car I have ever owned and I am average size and the car only has 80,000 miles on it.

Engine Block Cracks in cold weather
We had negative temperatures this winter. After that my car was losing antifreeze, but couldn't find were it was going. After a few weeks we found out Honda has a "secret warranty" on the engine block cracking in cold weather in Honda Civics from 06-09 and maybe even 2010. That's what happened to my civic. Honda should pay for this if that's what's wrong. Honda make us jump through hoops to have them fix it. They still didn't fix it, and charged us $700 for just looking at it. Now, we are still fighting to get our money back. This is the biggest part of the engine. Antifreeze went in our oil and messed our engine up and had to buy another engine.
Perfect Except for Driver's Seat
Owned for about a month, over 2000 miles so far. No problems. Wonderful balance of practicality and performance, economy and fun. Also impressed with IIHS's perfect crash test scores. I throughly enjoy driving this car. Marvelous automatic transmission. Even under hard acceleration, I can barely feel it shifting gears. My only gripe - this is the most uncomfortable driver's seat I've ever sat in. Headrest juts too far forward. Luckily, an '07 Accord headrest also fits into the the slots. For $90.00, that problem's fixed. Lower lumbar also juts too far forward, making for a painful back after a day of running errands around town. A towel shoved down into the seat fixed that problem.
Love my Honda, but...
For an economy car, it's pretty nice. My last two cars were German and their reliability issues drove me to Japanese dependability, but man were Germans a blast to drive. And while I'm still happy with the Honda, there are some issues I'm now suffering. Mainly performance issues. Otherwise, it's functional, reliable, efficient and gets me from A to B with little worry. Most of my driving is in the city, and it zips around in traffic fairly well. I would not recommend as a highway commuter.
bad paint
i love the way the car runs, very reliable. research the paint color you are buying because there are some that have had problems cracking. Nighthawk black pearl is the color of my car and the hood and front bumpers look aweful. They are cracked more than any car that i have seen this age, and i have taken good care of the car. interior is decent. exterior gets 0 stars, the paint stinks.

My first Honda
I recently traded in my 2001 Sebring because I wanted something more reliable and better gas mileage. My brother has an 03' civic and loves it, so I took to 2007 for a test drive and fell in love with it. It has great acceleration for a small car and is fun to drive.
My First Honda
This car is worth every penny. I've been driving BMW's for 21 years and love them but I needed a commuter car for work and shopping so I chose the new 07 Civic EX Sedan. It had most of the options I wanted for sub $20k. despite it's soft built quality in comparison to the Solid BMW's, I still think that this car deserves mostly 10's. Again, it's the perfect third car for chores and day to day driving.
2007 civic LX (1.8 automatic)
Just like the other 4 Hondas we have had in the family, 150,000 miles and just got her broke in. Just routine maintenance over the years. Now it's time for another one of the kids to inherit as we jump to the 2016 model. Coundn't ask for a better, more reliable car. 42 MPG on the highway, 35 around town. Socal driving at 35 MPG...come on...great car...not tradin' this one in!

Another winner
This is my third civic. I must say that this one is my favorite. I have had the car for 10 days and have put nearly 1k miles on the odometer and the gas mileage is dead on. The comfort over my previous 04 model is greatly improved due to longer wheel base especially over bumps. The front seats appear to have more legroom which is always nice. Overall I am very satisfied with my car. I got a great deal on my new car and my last Civic a 2004 EX sedan with 52K miles only depreciated $3k. I have been able to trade about every 3 year and get a new car. I love the low depreciation, reliability, overall spunkiness and quality that I have not been able to find elsewhere.
Horrible car, Horrible deal.
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. My 2007 had the engine crack issue. Dealer and Honda wont replace it. They want to charge me $4200 dollars. If you are thinking about it, please don't do it. Don't buy any Civic from 2006 to 2009. Update: these cars still suck. That $4200 dollars won't fix it. It'll just make it driveable so you can sell it to the next shmuck:-/

2007 Honda Civic EX w/nav
I never though i would be a civic owner. To bland etc.... However I now drive 140 miles a day and I had to think of gas cost and reliability. To sum up this car is great! Very comfortable to drive and responds well. For the size of the car it has pretty good pick up. There is wind noise at higher speeds (75-85). The Nav system is great. The interior seems surprisingly more spacious than our subaru. The dual dash does take a little time to get used to but I find that i now prefer it than the traditional displays. Gas mileage during the break in period has been between 30-36 mpg. And this is all highway driving. Although as you have seen above at higher than EPA speeds for determining MPG.
Bad Batch of Honda Civics 2006-2009
Honda has acknowledged that engines in 2006-2009 Civics have a tendency to develop engine block cracks as they age - and extended warranty to 10 years. We found this problem the hard when stranded many miles from home. Our Civic was well maintained and otherwise in great shape and had only 110,000 miles on it. We've had other maintenance issues with this and other Hondas that seem excessive. Since we're past their extended warranty Honda has done nothing for us except to say they are very sorry. I'm very sorry I bought this Honda.

Tire Wear
I purchased this car brand new. Since I have replaced the tires twice. I have the tires rotated every other oil change and the guys at the shop say they have uneven wear. The rear tires are very noisy. I have had the alignment checked several times and its ok. It seems to be a factory defect. Also my sun visor broke. Honda needs to do a recall on this model year because I will never purchase another Honda if they're no going to stand behind their product. Very Unhappy Customer.
Too new to say, but satisfied so far
We traded in my 02 Maxima for this car. We needed less payments and more fuel economy and that's exactly what we got. Does it have the power to blow past people like the maxima, no but it has good pick up and I guess if you wanted to add some mods it would be able to do that. It's fun, very roomy for a sub compact and the side airbags make me feel like my wife is better protected. Good car for the cost, we only have 300 miles on it so reliabbility still stands to be seen but Honda has a good reputation.
'07 Civic LX Sedan Review
I agree the headrests are painfully forward (but I guess that's to help in a crash. May try the Accord headrest swap, thanks!) Road noise on certain surfaces, otherwise nicely quiet. Getting 28 mpg on my 60/40% city/hwy commute. Good handling (0.81g!) on Eagle RS-A tires. I like the surprisingly quick steering ratio for an econo-sedan. The digital gauges do work well - you can keep your eyes on the road ahead while checking speed/temp/gas. Accelerates quickly enough, esp. considering the fuel economy. Headlights work well with wide even light pattern and flat European cutoff.
Awesome Ride!
The 2007 civic is SO fun to drive, it is hard to park it and go in to work in the morning. The instrument layout is excellent and the way it handles is amazing. Seats are very comfortable and provide excellent support. Interior trim is very well engineered and looks very elegant. Drive this before you buy a BMW 3 series or you will kick yourself.
My first bad car.
The car rides good but way to many features going bad early. Have replaced the visors 3 times now, replaced the starter at 70 miles and the cost was over $500, replaced both front speakers, the interior ceiling cloth has come lose and is hanging down completely now, very loud road noise when traveling. I wish I had purchased another car now. I'm sorry to say but this will be my last Honda, their quality is no longer their..

Good car but other than few recall issues
I bought it new from the dealer and there is a water boiling sound from the engine and dealer wont do shit even though there is recall on same issue with other year. Gas mileage and the seating comfort is very poor. Trans shutters in from 1st to 2nd if you press the pedel slow. Overall I like it but I do not buy another Honda due to their dont care customer service attitude.
Great Trouble free car
I bought my Honda Civic and it is a great dependable car .Drives nicely and handles well in snow with winter tires as it is not good for Alberta snowy winters wth all season tires I have only 93,000 Kilometers about 65,000 miles and the car is just great. Only one long trip of about 2,000 miles to Great Falls and back to St.Albert, Alberta in Canada. Tires with purchase were of poor quality and I replaced them with Bridgestone Ecopia tires and the car handles better than new. I like the car as mine is black and other than a few dingles which I had detailed out for $275 and car looks like new . Visor had to be replaced on warranty I nh Bridgestone Ecopia tires and the car handles better than new. I like the car as mine is black and other than a few dingles which I had detailed out for $275 and car looks like new . Visor had to be replaced on warranty . and nothing else other than tires. Great gas mileage and handles extremely well. Since my last review I now have 79000 Kilometers or 50,000 miles as of July 30,2016 and the car is still awesome . I use synthetic oil and have my changed the transmission fluid as the car is 9 years old. Still a good car and I intend on keeping it as long as possible. I Had to replace the coil springs for $1100 Canadian $800 Us at 80,000 or 50,000 miles so the reliability is not as good as advertised .Other than that the car is excellent! car now now at 94000 Kilometers 65,000 miles and car is still excellent . The ten year warranty on the motor elapsed in March of 2017 because engine problems with 2007 motors the warranty was extended to 10 years which now expired. Thought about replacing the car after engine warranty expired in March but decided to keep it as the car is terrific. The potential engine failure has bothered me all the time as i thought Honda engines were bullet Proof when i bought and consumer sights always highlighted the engine failures with my particular motor . Always a worry as i don't want to replace the car as it is in such good shape and is very low mileage so i keep it hoping the engine doesn't fail and i will have to buy a new car and i am a senior who doesn't drive much. Compared to my wifes 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT cab which require annual maintenance of car is about $1000 per year which i think is not good. It is August 28/2018 and the car is in very good condition body, paint and mechanically . I drive it mostly for short trips and the car performs flawlessly. Going to keep it as Maintenance is virtually nil , Oil and gas and winter summer tire changes. is all that is required.Best car i have owned from a driving perspective and reliability as i have had some real dogs .Heartically, The Honda civic is a very good car from all aspects. I am nearing 100,000 Kilometers or 65,000 Miles have 116000 Kilometers or 80,000 miles and the car runs great .Almost like new.Has been a great car and it is small but fairly roomy for the driver and passengers. i will say compared to my wifes Chevrolet Trailblazer year 2005 which is our highway car but it takes a lot of repairs compared to the Honda. Car is basically bullet proof so far and it is getting old but stays together both reliability and the overall interior and exterior both are in great shape as the Honda is used by son and I and is constantly on the move mostly local driving.Starts when left outside in the cold during the day in -40 Centigrade in Canada which is also -40 in Fahrenheit in the US so it is bitter cold here this winter. Rate the car the best car i have owned in my life as it is cheap to operate on gas and doesustn't take any repairs other than regular maintenance and still looks good for and old car but with low mileage still as it is an in town run around car basically . Just had a oil change and front brakes done again as it is stop and go driving with little highway driving.

After 15,000 miles my tires had warn down unevenly. I took into Tracy Dealership to point out hearing noise in back wheel. Told nothing wrong. At 18,000 miles noise worse so took to Stockton Honda and was told back right wheel bearing out. They replaced wrong side. Had to buy new tires. Took back to Tracy Honda and they replaced other back wheel bearing. Car still did not drive smooth. A lot of road noise. Traded in at Tracy Honda and would not give me blue book because wheel bearing problems. Even though I had a warranty for 100,000 miles they would not reimburse for having to buy new tires and did not give me a good trade in value. Will not buy a Honda again. Traded in for a Toyota Van.
Good car with few issues
Car ride is good , it's very reliable. Maintenance is easy and cheap. I have driven 152000 miles. Few issues I had were visor replacement, speaker replacement and after 8 years exterior paint job. I was expecting more out of Honda but I think Toyota, kia, hyundai, Mazda are also great choices. Honda needs to improve to differentiate itself.

Great, dependable car
I purchased my 2007 Civic with 80k miles in 2012. I just traded it in with 126k miles, for a brand new Civic. I bought a new one because I didn't want to take a chance at having any mechanical issues down the road. However, while owning my '07 Civic I never had any unusual or unexpected repairs, besides my starter going out at 110k. It was a great car, no complaints.

New Owner
My daily driver accumulated a quarter million miles (a 95 Jeep Cherokee Sport) and I needed another vehicle for 3-4 years to commute with great mileage. Though I only have now driven the Civic 1800 miles, the things that are most impressive are: 40 mpg @ 65 mph hwy mileage is not only the EPA estimate but right on the money. Handling is better than expected. Comfort was good on my recent 8 hour freeway drive. Standard radio/speaker was adequate. I haven't tried the standard CD player. Quite frankly, I wanted a vehicle to get great mileage and emulate an S40 Volvo w/sunroof. I drove an S40 and loved it. The Civic EX is better in many ways. So far, this is a great low end vehicle.
My First Honda
After eight years with my VW Passat, I decided to go Japanese. Well, I was right! A sport-like fun-to-dive car. When I touch the accelerator, it roars and jumps with confidence leaving the other guy watching her disappearing. It was love from first sight!
best small car
A little on the expensive side but well worth it. best car in its class, hands down. and great resale value later. something you should remember. that always helps put money on the next car.
Little BIG Carl
Nothing negative about this car..it's the best car I've ever owned. Owned American cars my whole life..bought this little beauty and I'll never go back.I've done nothing to this civic except maintenance. Top..top.quality! !

Yaprak's EX
I bought my Honda 4 weeks ago. It is such a joy to drive it. I like the details featured inside. My daughter is very comfortable at the back seat. She can use the cup holders, and the pockets inside the doors, for keeping her small items in. I don't worry about her safety. We love our car.
Quite possibly the best car I've ever owned.
I purchased this car in July of 2014. It has been almost a year and I couldn't be happier at this point. It has survived a fairly cold Minnesota winter, and handled well in the snow. Have observed 23-24 mi/gal locally, but don't really have that long of a commute. On the highway however, we've observed 38-40 mi/gal. Very happy with that performance. Love the styling both inside and out, if you're looking for a reliable, affordable ride, I highly recommend this car.
CIvic EX review
I have a Civic EX sedan. The interior is more roomy than past Civics and the new body style is very appealing as well. I like the digital gauges that make it easier to see speed. It gets great gas mileage as well, an average of about 31 for me.
250,000 miles and going strong
Bought this car used. I love it. It is fast and a real gas saver. The one downside is we missrd yhe warranty for the cracked engine block but she still drives perfect. Well besides pouring a bottle of coolant in every week. But the next owner will fix it and get even more milea out of it. I loved this Honda. Which makes me want to buy more Hondas but I made the switch to Toyota.

If you don’t have a sense of smell always bring someone that does. The car I purchased reeked of smoke, luckily my dealership did everything they can and the smell finally was gone.

Do the research before buying
This is my first car. Bought it all on my own and was fairly proud of it. But right after buying it, things started going down hill. Bought it in December, and whenever it is very cold, the engine makes this rattling sound. It is the most irritating thing on the planet. Makes me feel like I bought a junker. It makes this puttering sound too when every you turn the wheels when it's cold too. Asked my dad about this problem and he said maybe the heat shields are faulty. Looked it up and saw other people are have the same problem. Then my motor mounts completely broke. Bought a warranty with the car, so that took care of it, but I was without a car for a week. This car cannot idle properly. This thing will idle at less than about 850rpm, and then slowly drift down to 500rpm. It makes the entire car shake. It will do this ALL the time. I just turn the steering wheel to make it rev up a little bit. Then recently my engine block cracked. I read reviews saying this happened to cars, but of course I had the attitude that it wouldn't happen to me. Sure enough, the engine block cracked and leaked all of my coolant. And an important note, if you car smells like maple syrup PAY ATTENTION TO IT AND CHECK YOU ENGINE COOLANT!!!! My car reeked of it days before this happened and couldn't figure out why. Sure enough it was my engine coolant. Fortunately Honda replaced it for free. It was still under the extended warranty they were forced to give. Hopefully this will help out some people. This could be a decent car for some, but having to do these types of repairs on a car whose brand is recognized for excellent quality is a little ridiculous. My parents have owned other Hondas, and those cars refused to die or get repaired. Maybe this model and year was just a hiccup for Honda. Just hoping this will be the last of major repairs. If not I'm either selling it or sending it to a scrap yard. Other than these complaints it drives well, and gets great mileage. Was getting 35mpg+ on the highway. I love the sunroof and the navigation is kind of nice when I need it. And I can fit in it comfortably (I'm 6'3), just no one can sit comfortable behind me. Just be aware of these problems before you buy it.

I'm in love!
It happened before I even got out of the dealership for a test drive. Lots of interior space, good visibility all around, striking dash layout, small steering wheel, quiet engine, smooth but firm ride, good acceleration, quiet cruise at 70. I ordered the metallic beige, 17" wheels (which are brown), side spoilers, rear spoiler, trunk spoiler, fog lights, full front "bra" cover, auto/day-nite mirror, leather steering wheel cover. A beautiful car. I easily removed the CIVIC nameplate from the trunk and it looks $10,000 more expensive. It's a head-turner. I even got 8 yr. extended warranty plus interior/exterior/undercarriage protection. Ended up being $8,000 more than base...but worth it
2nd Honda Civic in 15 months
I have just taken delivery of my 2007 EX with Navi/XM radio. My trade was a 2006 LX with 38,400 miles. The EX is the same as the EX except for the Navigation system, XM radio, sunroof, auto lock with put in drive, ability to electronically open the truck, center arm rest in the back seat, etc. This is a great improvement in terms of amenities, the car itself is absolutely outstanding. I have had highway mileage as high as 46 and routinely get 41 and 42 miles per gallon. This has been documented with my dealer. I have used synthetic oil and have run with premium gas. The premium gas gives me 5-6 miles gallon. I am looking forward to breaking in my new EX.

Love the Car
I love my new Civic and the Navigation system is really awesome, it actually has more feautes than the Navigation on my 2006 Honda Odyssey. Only one minor complaint. While driving you can't see the front of the car at all and Im 6'1". Makes it tough parking when I pull into my garage.
My first new car & I love it
I just recently purchase my Civic yesterday. I waited a week trying to decide over a Acura RSX or the Scion tC. The RSX insurance was insane since I'm only 20 and its a sports car. Honda's are known to be excellent cars and so far for the 24 hours that I've had mine, it's great. I love how roomy it is for a civic. The silver paint is beautiful, and I love the overall design.
Love My Honda Civic
I love driving my car, I love how fast it accelerates as soon as I press the gas. I also love the shape and style of my red 2007 honda civic. The audio features are incredible too. The safety features are also incredible it has side airbags on all the doors. It makes me feel extremely safe.
Honda does it again...
Honda does it yet again...adding 36 HP over my '97 model and approximately 5 more miles to the gallon to boot; a very modern look; and a sensible gauge display and voice-controlled navigation system all centered around making sure that you, the driver, are focused on the road. Curtain-side as well as front air bags, ABS, and electronic brake distribution add even more to the car's overall safety. It's fun to drive and it looks awesome. This is not your parents' economy car anymore. This a truly sporty-looking car of your own to drive...without the unreliability and waste of domestic automobile engineering.
i'm in love
i just leased my honda civic, after a couple of months of searching for a car. i had a deposit on a honda fit and was waiting for it to come in, but then decided i didn't want to pay so much money for a car i would drive only on the wknds. i had heard so much about the honda performance and reliability, and i can only say "WOW". i totally love this car. it drives and handles so well, i don't even feel like i'm driving. i've only had it for a few days, but i am so happy with my decision. i'd been driving my mom's ford contour and i don't think i'll ever step foot in it again. the civic LX is a quiet, smooth ride that offers a lot amenities and comforts. i recommend this car to everyone.
Excellent car...
I bought a CRV earlier this summer, and was blown away by the quality and performance. When my second car spontaneously combusted, I decided to replace it with a civic. My initial motivation was the gas milage (as it was with the CRV), but I've been truly impressed with the performance (While it isn't as fast as my old turbo beetle, it gets superior gas mileage, and isn't as fear inspiring as the Volvo was when entering the freeway), as well as the ergonomics.
Buy a Toyota next time
This is the worst car I have ever owned. The fuel mileage has been terrible, barely 24-25 mpg overall. The transmission performs poorly in first gear, providing a jerk whenever the accelerator is touched or released. Customer service from the dealer and Honda is non-existent. They refuse to answer my letters in writing - I guess they don't want any evidence! The digital speedometer is a pain.
Disappointed
I am very disappointed in this 07 civic lx sedan with automatic. It does not have enough power, and does not feel stable on the highway. I drove 94 and 97 civics in the past and I am disappointed in this one. The fuel economy is a LIE! This civic only gets about 29 mpg on the highway and 23 in the city.
Great on Gas AND Fun to Drive!
When I drive Highway @ 55-60 mph, I average 35 miles/gallon. Fun to drive and very dependable It's a Honda!
I love this car!
I, like so many others, turned to fuel efficiency once gas prices went decidedly north. I love the looks of the car, comfort, and handling has been a pleasure. I thought the 'new wave' dash would be a distraction but turns out to be a really nice feature. Has nice pick up in the higher rpm range, however sometimes pick up in initial take off can seem sluggish. I'm getting about 32-35 mpg driving about 85% highway.
This is a GREAT car.
This is my first Honda. Purchased the '07 Civic EX w/ Navi about 2 weeks ago. Have loved every second I spend behind the wheel. Just took the little 4 cyl into the Blue Ridge mountains, and it performed admirably. The redesign Honda has done on the Civics is beautiful. Plenty of room in the front seats for adults, back seat is fine for kids. The NAVI system is AWESOME! It has already paid for itself! XM sounds great, moon roof works smooth. Steering is precise, braking is tight. Acceleration leaves a bit to be desired, but is compensated for by gas mileage. Golf clubs fit easily in the trunk. I really, really love this car. It's size is perfect and it's fun and easy to drive.
2 Year Ownership
I bought this vehicle because I needed one - before kids. It's better if you don't have kids. All I can fit in the trunk is a stroller and a portable crib and not much else. The ride was ok at first, but it has gotten worse. Recently, the bars on the gas gauge go up and down. I have had to replace the sun visors because the heat split the plastic and wouldn't allow them to close. The radio a couple of times has gone out for a minute and then will come back on and once the car wouldn't turn over and nothing was wrong with it. The up and down shift is also not the greatest in the automatic. Sometimes I have to press the gas pedal all the way down to get up speed to get on the highway.
Buyer beware!
This engine has a TSB on it for cracked engine block! Let me tell you now that it gives no warning, does not overheat or sound off any alarms. One day you are driving and the next thing you know you will have radiator fluid spewing out. Honda realizes that the problem was a "bad casting" of the engine block but since this problem only seems to start occurring (very conveniently for Honda may I add) around 70-80,000 miles (which is out of warranty) they will NOT help you fix it. We are talking about putting $7500.00 worth of new engine in your almost brand new car.
A Great Car Overall - Get it!!!!
Overall this car is the best I have ever driven. The interior and exterior are simply awesome... definitely the typical Honda... 2 thumbs up to Honda this time! The seats are a bit uncomfortable, but not too bad to deal with.
Honda lack of quality now!
Honda lack of quality now, is is not what all people think. I just get rid of a 2007 civic. In the 3 years I had it for, I had to take it to the dealer to replace the Torque converter on the transmission, the stereo system replaced since it stopped working, the steering wheel replaced since it started to peel off, the battery wasn't charging as it should be. Lot of vibration on the engine while idling, and let me tell you that the MPG is not what you think, only 24 mpg on the city at most and 29 at highway. The dealer keep telling me there was nothing wrong with the car until I took it time after time to them to fix it. in addition paint gets chips and scratched easily, gets dented easyly.
