Crack in Engine Block

I bought our civic used. Shortly after we experienced issues with spark plug coils. during the repair our service tech noticed a crack in the front of the engine block. After some investigation with Honda we discovered that this was an issue with literally thousands, maybe 10's of thousands of this year civic and year models surrounding it. There was no "factory recall." Instead Honda issued an "extended warranty" to cover the issue. Which is to replace the whole engine block.Only consumer issue with this is that it was never made public because it would have been a huge loss to Honda financially. If you have an issue with coolant loss, over heating etc Id bet the cracked block is the reason. BTW, Honda did not replace the block in our case. I missed the extended warranty by 2 months. Luckily the person that I bought the car from paid for the replacement.

I just bought this car slightly used. I went from a 99 Civic Hatchback and proceeded through a difficult decision process and chose this coupe. Factors and thoughts: I am 33 and live in LA. I think the FIT is the perfect car, but test drove one and considered it strangely a step DOWN from my 99 Civic. Horrible crisis. Also considered: Mazda 3 hatch (family car), Mini Cooper (too hip, limited, expensive and faulty), Scions (too young for me), VW Rabbit (just boring), Prius (boring and expensive). I think that I made the best choice of the available cars. Comments: fun to drive, handling tight, build quality is great, the seats are VERY comfortable, acceleration is astoundingly smooth.

I was happy to find out that Honda was going to put a navigation system in the civic like mazda does in the 3. Honda does have the best nav systems out there, but they cut corners on this one! No xm radio, no 350 watts and where is the fuel economy read-out like on the accord? They did not put it there because the car drinks fuel at a rate never seen before on a civic. 24 miles per gallon? I got 35 on my 2004 ex! Maby it will get better, but it is very bad right now, not 30/38 or anywhere near!

Value for money... Sleek looks...however not the most comfortable car especially for pillion riders. Great road grip and acceleration. Big people should test drive before making decision.
